My friend and I recently visited this place for dinner and thought that the food was fairly good. The service was friendly and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. I got the fried catfish platter with Mac n cheese and fries and my friend got the smothered pork chop meal and an appetizer. She really enjoyed her meal and so did I! The catfish was amazingly tasty but I wasn't so impressed with the Mac n cheese which had some kind of garlicky stuff in it nor was I impressed with the fries which were crinkle cut and a little on the soft side but overall I would definitely return for some more fried fish and maybe try some of their fried chicken in the future.

Mimi's Soul Food is a great new restaurant in town. It's been on my list of places to try. Although we showed up pretty late, maybe 7pm or 8pm, the restaurant was still busy with orders. About half of the customers were dining in and half taking orders to go. I decided on the Philly Cheesesteak and was glad I did! Lots of flavorful steak, veggies cooked just right, and gooey melted cheese. A great sandwich for sure. The fries were also good, and came pre-seasoned. Food overall 4/5. Service was good, but a little clunky. I'm sure the young people at the counter are still learning all the ropes. Everybody was nice and helpful, though. Service 4/5 stars. I'm excited to try more things on the menu. Next time I'll be going for the fried chicken and some classic soul food sides. I hope they'll continue to get support from our local community. Love supporting small businesses and it's great to have a good soul food restaurant in town!

Mimi's is the real deal family soulfood restaurant. The cornmeal breading was crispy, fish was white and flaky, a little kick to the tender collard greens and a sweet cornbread. Mac & cheese hit the spot. Friendly and helpful staff. No wait staff but they checked on me which was nice. Ambiance was also family friendly, self serve drinks, TVs, plenty of tables, lots of windows Menu was easy to follow. Great location. I'll be back to explore the menu and will recommend to others.

Food was delicious! Staff was friendly and welcoming. The facility was clean and the ambiance feels like you are at someone's home. This place is a must, if you love to eat delicious food.

Great food! 2 of my friends and I do reviews of one new restaurant every month! So we all pay separately! Eating here and paying separately meant we wouldn't all eat at the same time! So you might figure that out before you go. It was worth the wait tho!

Best soul food in town. Me and a friend came for dinner tonight and the staff was very nice. Was really craving some comfort food and didn't leave disappointed! The MAC AND CHEESE don't get me started... can I order a gallon?? Definitely stopping by to try other things on the menu.

I wish i could give them more than 5 stars....we were greeted by the sweetest young lady at the counter who guided our menu choices. Every bite of both our meals was absolutely incredible. Okra, greens, brown beans, mac and cheese, cornbread, fish, and chicken were all seasoned with flavor that only comes when it's cooked with love. This family owned place is a gem and we will be back if we are ever within several hours drive. Literally the best meal we have had in our two months of travels.

Fried chicken, sweet potatoes, green beans, and cornbread. So good!

I had the fried chicken, sweet potatoes, and green beans. WOW! .. so good. Chicken like a country grandma would make, best green beans in a restaurant I may have ever had, and the sweet potatoes were amazing. Highly recommend the food. Staff is friendly. The dining area is nice, but I had trouble finding a table that was cleaned off and ready. Still, an easy 5 star rating.

Let me just start with saying this was the most delicious piece of cornbread I've ever experienced…read morein my life. And that's saying something as I would never purposefully choose an edge piece. On top of that I was surprised to find that spaghetti comes as a side! It reminded me of cafeteria spaghetti, but not the bad kind you groan about when you see it on the menu, the kind that has you running to the cafeteria to beat everyone else. The spicy cabbage is just that, SPICY. I was only able to eat a few bites, but even under all that spice the flavor was excellent. The catfish strips were hot and tender. They even threw in an extra or two. Now the server, he was amazing. He greeted us promptly and went above and beyond. I have not had such a positive experience with a server at any restaurant I've been to in a long time. I didn't catch his name, but he was brilliant. The restaurant was clean, food was fresh, and plenty of seating. I'm very excited to visit here again! We've been here twice, once dining in and once as an order ahead take-out. Both times we have been incredibly impressed by the atmosphere, service, and food. They have the best classic southern soul food we've had the pleasure of enjoying in the area. Their menu is huge with a wide variety such as chicken livers, rabbit, catfish, and classic Southern entrees. We were impressed with the long list of side options such as the spicy cabbage and spaghetti. Their cornbread is incredible, you've got to try it.

You learn to trust the signs. A line before the dinner rush on a Saturday. That golden-hour light…read morespilling onto the sidewalk as the sun sets over Market Street. And the music..low, warm Motown drifting out the door like an invitation you'd be a fool to refuse. That's how you find Mama G's. Parking was a minor hassle. Worth it. Inside, the soul of the place hits you immediately. Family portraits line the walls:real people, real smiles, real history. The woman at the counter greets you not like a customer, but like a nephew who's finally come home for the holiday. That's not trained hospitality. That's heritage. We waited fifteen minutes. Got seated by the bathroom with a view of the road. Not ideal. But you know what? I didn't care. Because the smell coming out of that kitchen was already forgiving every small inconvenience. The menu reads like a dare. Everything "spiced correctly," they boast. No timidity here. So I went big. The Stuffed Turkey Leg: a smoked behemoth of a thing, piled high with greens, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, all crowned with cornbread crumbs. Thanksgiving on a plate. A chaotic, glorious, soulful mess. The collard greens hit first. Earthy, slow-cooked, righteous. Then the mac and cheese, creamy and clinging to the turkey meat like it belonged there. The yams? Sweet, soft, perfect punctuation. And the spices??; they danced. Bold but not brutal. I could handle it. My four-year-old, however, disagreed. The mac was "too spicy" for her young tongue. Fair criticism. Take the kid to a park next time. This food is for grown-ups! My fiancée went with the Fried Wings. Hand-breaded, Mama G's own seasoning, fresh from the fryer. The kind of fry that crackles when you bite in..extra crispy on the outside, impossibly tender within. She needed dipping sauce to cool the heat. She didn't complain once. In a city full of bland, safe restaurant food, she was grateful for something that actually tasted alive. The staff? Warm. Genuine. Our waitress heard our compliments and brought us a free side of spicy cabbage just to show off what else the kitchen could do. That's confidence. That's family. Mama G's is not a restaurant. It's a relative's house where you happen to pay at the end. It's a taste of the South, a taste of something real, a taste of lovely.
