Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The place was cute but kinda tight seating. The food however was a different story. The specials for the day were smothered pork chops and fried catfish. You were also able to get fried chicken if you weren't interested in the specials. My daughter and I got fried chicken. Asked for all white meat but was told they were all out. We got 2 very small wings. Hardly any meat on them at all and very greasy. The sides were ok but they were lukewarm and small. The cornbread was very dry and cold. With the butter being cold you could not spread it on the cornbread. No sodas were available just water, coffee, or tea. There were at least 3 or 4 desserts listed on the menu but when we asked only 1 was available. We got there around 12:30 or so. You would think they would have enough of the food they are offering that day to provide for potential customers. Only 1 of us was able to get the fried catfish because that was all that was left. They did discount some off of the catfish because the portions were so small. We all left still hungry and wished we had gone somewhere else. We picked this place based on decent reviews. I don't know if today is typical of a normal day but I know we will not be back.

This place is such a gem! Incredibly friendly owners/staff that treat you just like family and food that comforts the soul. It doesn't look like much from the outside but dont let that fool you. Inside it's clean, quaint and nicely decorated. They have different main entree options each day of the week, plus fried chicken everyday. All entrees come with 3 sides and cornbread. So far I've had the fried chicken, baked chicken and chicken and dumplings and all have been amazing! The chicken and dumplings would have to be my favorite so far though. Comfort food at its finest, folks!! As far as sides go they have a really big selection to choose from, including some not so common options like collard greens, steamed cabbage, brown beans, etc. I highly recommend the mac n cheese and mashed potatoes myself, but everyone I was with had different sides and everyone loved them. My boyfriends favorite thing there is actually the brown beans, which is one of their side. Overall I am totally impressed with Me's. I just went there for the first time about a month and a half ago and have been back 3 times since! If you're looking for home cooked goodness like your grandma used to make, this is the place!! I know we'll continue to go back again and again.

Good stop along Historic Route 66. To be fair, the name grabbed my attention. Located in a newer…read morearea of town, near Harbour freight, there is plenty of parking around the building. Seat yourself, a waitress quickly stopped by with menus and took a drink order. The menu is pretty big and includes breakfast and a kids menu. I ordered hot tea and am so happy to have received a cup of tea with a pot of tea back-up! Yes, all the tea please. The lemons on the side added to my tea joy. It's the small things. My SO ordered himself an open faced roastbeef sandwich. This is shredded roast on top of a sweet roll smothered in gravy with a side of mashed potato. He certainly ate it like it was tasty. (I did confirm - it is tasty.) I went with an a la carte breakfast of two eggs and one pancake. The pancake had a slightly sweet taste and is fluffy. The eggs were cooked perfectly 'over easy'. You can tell they are cooked as eggs should be over a low heat - no scorch marks on the outer edge. Bathrooms are in the back left corner and are cleanest where it matters most. Diaper station in the ladies room. During our visit many of the guests knew each other and chatted amongst themselves. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly. They kept a close eye on all the guests making sure everyone had everything they needed. All together a good stop.

Mama G's Kitchen - Fried shrimp, Mac and cheese, spicy cabbage

You learn to trust the signs. A line before the dinner rush on a Saturday. That golden-hour light…read morespilling onto the sidewalk as the sun sets over Market Street. And the music..low, warm Motown drifting out the door like an invitation you'd be a fool to refuse. That's how you find Mama G's. Parking was a minor hassle. Worth it. Inside, the soul of the place hits you immediately. Family portraits line the walls:real people, real smiles, real history. The woman at the counter greets you not like a customer, but like a nephew who's finally come home for the holiday. That's not trained hospitality. That's heritage. We waited fifteen minutes. Got seated by the bathroom with a view of the road. Not ideal. But you know what? I didn't care. Because the smell coming out of that kitchen was already forgiving every small inconvenience. The menu reads like a dare. Everything "spiced correctly," they boast. No timidity here. So I went big. The Stuffed Turkey Leg: a smoked behemoth of a thing, piled high with greens, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, all crowned with cornbread crumbs. Thanksgiving on a plate. A chaotic, glorious, soulful mess. The collard greens hit first. Earthy, slow-cooked, righteous. Then the mac and cheese, creamy and clinging to the turkey meat like it belonged there. The yams? Sweet, soft, perfect punctuation. And the spices??; they danced. Bold but not brutal. I could handle it. My four-year-old, however, disagreed. The mac was "too spicy" for her young tongue. Fair criticism. Take the kid to a park next time. This food is for grown-ups! My fiancée went with the Fried Wings. Hand-breaded, Mama G's own seasoning, fresh from the fryer. The kind of fry that crackles when you bite in..extra crispy on the outside, impossibly tender within. She needed dipping sauce to cool the heat. She didn't complain once. In a city full of bland, safe restaurant food, she was grateful for something that actually tasted alive. The staff? Warm. Genuine. Our waitress heard our compliments and brought us a free side of spicy cabbage just to show off what else the kitchen could do. That's confidence. That's family. Mama G's is not a restaurant. It's a relative's house where you happen to pay at the end. It's a taste of the South, a taste of something real, a taste of lovely.

Really good outside fry on the chop. The is cooked nice and still juicy. Meatloaf is a really good taste. A pretty dense meatloaf, that can seem a bit dryer texture. Make no mistake, it's still really good. If you like fried chicken livers...they are cooked good and a good fry taste. All the sides have been so very good. The okra, cheesy potatoes, cabbage, corn bread and the green beans. They are delivering that great southern style sides. Oh, did I say they have good sized portions? You won't dare go way hungry at this place.
