Fabulous from scratch food! Always exceptional servers except for one girl and she was friendly just not attentive, I think she's gone now. If in doubt just ask for Kimmy, she's amazing but I almost hate to put that out there because so is everyone else...just that one bad apple. I haven't taken many pictures over the ten years we have been going but will say we have NEVER had a bad meal at Buttered Bunns. Nearly everything is homemade and absolutely everything is very good! And I'm a super critic! I'm attaching the pics I do have and will add more as I go, to help the business. They've always been open for breakfast and lunch 7-2 and it's amazing...but now are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 8pm. Full menu...but the specials are AYCE catfish on Thursday, steak on Friday and chicken on Saturday. My point in this review is to try and get Buttered Bunns enough business to continue the Thurs-Sat evening hours. It's a 90 day trial that they are doing. And let's face it, dinner in Miami is your choice of numerous Mexican restaurants (FYI the newest one is more expensive and no better that the smaller places), and Mia Bella - a mediocre Itialian joint, casinos, fast food, or Montana Mikes which made a brief rally that I praised here on yelp a few years ago and then they promptly plunged again to the home of extremely overpriced crap! As I say this I also remember Woodys. Always overpriced but the food was good when Jeff owned it. New owners (same as Main Street Cafe) will drive it into the ground soon enough. We do have a few pizza places that aren't national chains but none of them offer anything exciting as far as toppings. Same as or less than the chain places...and Cruisin 66, the new wood fired place is the biggest disappointment of all as far as toppings go. Oh and we did have a phenomenal chicken place -Wing Club- (wings, sandwiches, wraps) until last week when the city condemned their rented building after just giving them a license to operate in said building a few months ago. Talk about some sh*t there!! I think they are getting a food truck now so kiss that one good-bye. Back to Buttered Bunns who has always been good... Consistent, homemade, real, excellent service. We live in the next town over so it's a 30 minute drive for us but we have been doing it each week to support their new evening hours. Please do it with us to help this fabulous small business succeed! I can tell you that you can't go wrong with any breakfast...my fav is two eggs over medium, hash browns crisp, sausage or bacon, and hotcakes! So good!! Lunch is so hard to choose! The chicken strips are bomb! So are their sandwiches and "dinner" options too! The AYCE catfish tonight was the best I've had in a 50 mile radius, or more! Several casinos in Miami do AYCE catfish but it doesn't even compare! And the sides at Buttered Bunns are SO much better! The dining area is open and I love listening to the regulars talking with the staff and each other...we go once or twice a week but are from out of town and only a few servers know us and only from our visits to the restaurant. I think some folks must be there every day, especially for breakfast, but they also know the staff outside the restaurant. Anyway...it's a great place to eat and a Small Business in the small town of Miami. I hope this review sends you in to see them!! Oh!! Also...their pie is fabulous! Especially the coconut cream. Good stop along Historic Route 66. To be fair, the name grabbed my attention. Located in a newer area of town, near Harbour freight, there is plenty of parking around the building. Seat yourself, a waitress quickly stopped by with menus and took a drink order. The menu is pretty big and includes breakfast and a kids menu. I ordered hot tea and am so happy to have received a cup of tea with a pot of tea back-up! Yes, all the tea please. The lemons on the side added to my tea joy. It's the small things. My SO ordered himself an open faced roastbeef sandwich. This is shredded roast on top of a sweet roll smothered in gravy with a side of mashed potato. He certainly ate it like it was tasty. (I did confirm - it is tasty.) I went with an a la carte breakfast of two eggs and one pancake. The pancake had a slightly sweet taste and is fluffy. The eggs were cooked perfectly 'over easy'. You can tell they are cooked as eggs should be over a low heat - no scorch marks on the outer edge. Bathrooms are in the back left corner and are cleanest where it matters most. Diaper station in the ladies room. During our visit many of the guests knew each other and chatted amongst themselves. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly. They kept a close eye on all the guests making sure everyone had everything they needed. All together a good stop. read more

We have come to a restaurant that has food, extraordinaire, buttered, buns, Café. We ate a meal that you would not believe, you cannot find food like this anywhere else in the whole state of Missouri or Oklahoma. If you want some good eaten and some good service, you better come to buttered buns café, amen! OK the ambience here is awesomeness like down home friendly, while I was even allowed to talk to other customers and they did not throw me out, so if you want a friendly staff friendly environment and some real real comfort food I'm talking about real comfort food you better come here because you are missing out if you do not. The food was decent, but the service was lacking. We had to ask for missing items multiple times. The french toast was undercooked and missing strawberries. The chicken fried bacon tasted like nothing but breading because the bacon was so thin it was almost non existant. We asked for more napkins and the waitress brought 2 napkins for 4 people. She never offered to refill our drinks. Fyi they are open till 2 pm but you can't get grits after 1 pm because the dishwasher needs to soak the pans for at least an hour. I would not recommend this restaurant. I ordered the meatloaf dinner which tasted like it came out of the freezer section of the grocery store. An hour after eating I became violently ill which lasted for approximately 14 hrs. The waiter was a rude kid who was heard making rude statements as he walked away from our table. We were not provided dinner rolls. Once done eating he asked if we would like to-go cups and stated we would, the waiter went to talk to another couple then started cleaning the blinds never to return to our table. Our 2 incomplete meals which made me sick and involved rude staff cost a little over 31 dollars. On a positive note, the cashier was friendly. Eat at your own risk. read more

We found this little place after a recommendation from hotel staff. We sat ourselves quickly and had a waitress helping us within 1 minute. Jasmine was friendly, helpful & joyful. I don't think that's a word I've ever used in a review, but it fits Jasmine perfectly. Her smiles & joyful attitude made the room brighter. When we first went to the restaurant there were only 3 or 4 other people there. By the time we left around 5:45 they were very busy. It definitely seems like a place "the locals go." It is very clean and well kept. The booths could stand to be reupholstered...but that's a minimal complaint. The catfish was very good & cooked perfectly. The shoestring fries were average & the coleslaw...well, it was very, very bland. Even my 80+ y/o stepdad said it had no flavor. That was the only let down. The tartar sauce, which seemed to be homemade, was delicious. And the rolls??? I could eat those alone for a meal!!! Deeeeelicious!!! Well, work has me in Oklahoma this week. Miami, Oklahoma, to be exact. So, as I often do when visiting a new city or town, I try a local Mom & Pop restaurant. So my partner Jordan on this trip suggested "BUTTERED BUNS" do to its reviews and posted pics. I have to say this was a great choice. From the moment we walked in, we were greater with that small town hospitality as if we were locals. We started by ordering Fried Mushrooms and Fried Pickles. They were both really good. Both came with Ranch and their very own dipping sauce they called O-Sauce. Ranch is Ranch, but the O-Sauce was something you could poison me with. I highly suggest bottling it up and selling this stuff. It's hard to decribe other than to say DELISH!!! I ordered the breaded or as they call them Fried Pork Chops with Mashed Taters and Corn for sides. My meal was outstanding. My partner ordered the hamburger or chopped steak. It was orded Medium Rare, and unfortunately, it was served more rare than either of us would have liked. Our server was the sweet and bubbly Mercedes. She was extremely sweet and on point. To sum it all up, I highly recommend Buttered Buns. I gave them 4 stars only due to the Chop Steak being undercooked. Stopped in for a quick lunch on our trip to Kansas. We saw that Buns had decent reviews and decided to give it a try.... never again... Service was terrible. Another waiter had to take our drink order after we had been sitting for nearly 15 minutes. Our waitress was not very pleasant nor very attentive. I ordered the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. Okra was good. Mashed potatoes were alright. The chicken fried steak was so salty that I couldn't even eat it. We notified the waitress and she basically said there wasn't anything she could do about it and that they were too busy to replace it. Not once was anything else offered or did they offer to compensate for it. We finally just told the waitress to take it off the ticket because it was that inedible. Every time I've eaten a Buttered Bunns the food has been great biscuit and gravy, breaded pork chops. My husband loves omelettes. The waitresses are really good and really nice. I'd give it a five star. They don't have that many home cooked restaurants anymore. read more

Definitely rose above my expectations! We're traveling for Easter and this was one of the only places open and thank goodness!! The food was home cooked country meals that appear to be homemade... Not the healthiest but very delicious! My family had chicken strips, chilli, grilled cheese, chicken and noodles (dumplings), an open face roast beef sandwich and the buttered bunns! Reminds me of growing up in the country. The Coffee was the best drip coffee I have had in a while!!! Makinse (Mackensie-unsure of spelling) was a great server! It melted my heart when a regular (older man) came in and she sat down with him for a few moments and just chatted with him. The restaurant was clean and maintained... Nicely renovated and decorated.
