Drive-thru menu board

Food was old-school fast food - the burgers weren't huge but were tasty, and the onion rings were delicious. Drive-thru line was slow, but there were a lot of cars. The attendant was friendly and our order was exactly what we asked for. I'd hoped to dine inside, but it looked like the lobby was open on an irregular basis. Worth a stop if you're in Miami.

Double giant cheeseburger, hot dog, chicken tenders, onion rings, small fries, and two large soft drinks: $28 My wife and I both commented, "good luck getting all that for $28 where we live in PA!" Granted, it's fast food quality (hence the 3 stars), but it's just as good as anything you get from a fast food chain (I'd say the flavor of the burger and chicken tenders was comparable to Burger King but no where near as greasy). Note: since this isn't a chain, you can get either Coke or Pepsi products. Which I think is a plus! It did take about 10 minutes or so for us to receive our food (which may seem like an inconvenience in today's 'drive thru/immediate delivery world') but I didn't mind it so much knowing the food was being made fresh. It's drive-thru only so there's no ambience other than the fun sign out front (attached), but the older lady attending to the drive thru was a kind and pleasant woman who provided cordial service. I'd recommend this place if you are either A) craving fast food or B) you're driving Route 66, like we were this day. But be patient and enjoy the nostalgia of a bygone era.

Double giant bacon cheeseburger

Great stop in rural Oklahoma. The building has the feel of an old school mom & pop burger shop that is a staple of the local community. Mostly drive thru with the interior only open on select days. Staff and service were excellent. We got a double giant cheese burger, double giant bacon cheese burger, small tater tot, small mozzarella sticks and a large cherry limeade for around $28. Burgers were great and made fresh to order. Limeade was great - not overly sweet as some can be - with the infamous nugget ice (for the girlies)! I would recommend to anyone that finds themselves in Miami, OK.

My family loves KuKu, especially when we were younger! It's great for kids because they have their kids meals come in these cute little cardboard vintage cars. Be sure you are aware of the hours! Lately, it hasn't always seemed to be as advertised (I think the owner has been dealing with some health stuff??), so I'd honestly recommend just calling first to see if they're open. I like to get the frito chili pie. Sometimes it has been better than others, but it's usually still good and filling. Fairly standard overall. For some reason I like to add their ketchup to it. I guess I like that it adds a bit extra flavor and moisture, since theirs can seem a bit of a drier type of chili pie. On my last visit, it seemed like there were more fritos than chili, so I would have liked to have a bit more of the meat and beans part. In my opinion, the ice cream is what makes KuKu's a cool spot. I love all of the flavored soft serve options, like butterscotch, cotton candy, and several more. What they do is have the ice cream part be vanilla soft serve but there's syrup neatly swirled, thanks to the machine, of the flavor you choose. If you've saved a decent amount of room, don't miss the hot fudge sundae. Sooo good! Vanilla ice cream topped with a nice and thick, flavorful hot fudge. You can also have whipped cream and nuts, which I always do. It's a respectable portion... you could probably share it with someone, but that's no fun!! ;) The only thing with ordering ice cream is if you do it as takeout, like I did on my last visit, be sure to remind them to give you your food first before the ice cream!!! We ended up sitting in the car waiting for our meals while they had already given us our sundaes... so a bit melted by the time it was all said and done. 4 stars because it seems to have a few quirks these days, but still a fun (and for me, nostalgic) spot on Route 66.

Fried green tomatoes - GET THESE THEY ARE THE BOMB

Great burgers and Rte 66 atmosphere at Wayland's Ku-Ku burger! The vintage sign drew is in the first time we were through here 25 years ago. The delicious burgers and experience keeps us coming back again and again. I usually get the Buffalo burger BBQ style (BBQ sauce pickles and onions). It also comes regular style (mustard lettuce tomato). Either one is delicious, so you can't go wrong ordering either one. I also add a slice of cheddar cheese to mine just because :) Tater tots are fried when you order them, and so are always crispy and delicious. Ditto the fries (regular and curly). Depending on the time of year you visit, you might get lucky and Wayland will have Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu - we lucked out and had 2 orders of those delicious FGT! Today (15 Jul 2021) the lobby is still closed for pandemic reasons. So we lined up with the rest of the folks at the drive thru and ordered there. They take and make 2 orders at a time, so everything is hot and fresh when handed through the window. The line moves reasonably quickly though so just crank up the tunes and have a little patience :) 5 get your burgers here when getting your kicks on Route 66 stars!

Waylan's KuKu Burger is one of those places where you don't mind the wait and the dysfunction because you know something wonderful is about to test your taste buds. From the burgers that are loaded to the perfectly breaded deep fried pickle spears, the homemade fries, to the milk shakes that are to die for, this place is a gastric delight that is worth pulling in to.

For RT 66 travelers, great neon, currently drive through only. There is a wait but the food has that diner taste. Mainstays are the burger's, as should be, plenty of other options on the menu. They also have a vast side menu, mostly fried, well done on the selection though. I settled on the tots and a deluxe cheeseburger. Personally, I'll take local and a small wait over fast food.

2018 we csme thru town to eat at the Ku-Ku, but it was closed. And seemed to be closed everytime we came to Miami, OK. Today was the day where we waited for 20 minutes in the drive-thru line. It's long due to every order is cooked to order. It was well worth it. Nothing super special if you're looking for something fancy - It's a burger. Will definitely go back again. Waylan was on the grill and it'll be 50 years simmer 2023.

Double giant cheeseburger! Wow, awesome!!

Seriously awesome tasting burger. It was cooked perfectly, the onions and tomato were nice and fresh. The restaurant itself was clean with Rt. 66 decor. The staff were fun and friendly. Will definitely come back again on next trip.

I have been enjoying Ku-Ku in Miami since early 70's. Just as good as it ever was. Very consistent. Food made to order and always great.

My daughter and I visited Otter Cove recently (6-27-2024), and unfortunately, our experience was…read morequite disappointing. My daughter's hot dog arrived cold, and after we brought it to the waitress's attention, it was returned to us seemingly refried, with the bun still cold. This raised concerns about food safety as the hot dog had already had a bite taken out of it. Additionally, while her hot dog was in the kitchen, I took a bite of my BLT and noticed something off with the bacon--whether it was an odd smoky flavor or simply due to prolonged heating, I'm uncertain. At that point, we decided to ask if we could settle the bill for our fries and drinks and find dinner elsewhere. When the waitress returned, she said they could remove the cost of the hot dog but not the BLT (that I had only taken one small bite of before deciding better of it). I asked if this decision came from the manager, but the waitress explained the manager was temporarily unavailable and she had to ask the cashier. She let us know we could wait for the manager and we did, which only took about 5-8 minutes. When a man hung up the phone and approached us, he directly informed us that the general manager had authorized a 20% discount on the BLT but that they could not remove the charge. I questioned whether they were aware that the hot dog had been returned to the fryer after being partially eaten, and if they knew about the bacon issue. He confirmed she was aware and did not correct me when I stated they had put it into a communal fryer that other people's food would also be cooked in. I reiterated that we were willing to pay for what we did consume--excluding the hot dog and the BLT--and leave, but if we were to pay for those items and still must find dinner elsewhere, I would leave a review of our experience. He then apologized and explained he was trying to fix up the place. We wished him good luck, paid for what we consumed as well as what we couldn't safely consume, and left, opting to end our evening elsewhere. Our interaction with the staff regarding this request was less than satisfactory. While the staff was apologetic, it seems they are not permitted authority to make customer service decisions on their own. The handling of our concerns, particularly regarding food quality and safety, left us disappointed. I've previously had positive experiences at Otter Cove, but this incident, particularly the practice of putting touched products anywhere near other people's food or actually IN the shared fryer, is concerning and not reflective of past visits. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in food handling and customer service.

Seat yourself, a waitress quickly stopped by with menus and took a drink order. The menu is pretty big and includes breakfast and a kids menu. I ordered hot tea and am so happy to have received a cup of tea with a pot of tea back-up! Yes, all the tea please. The lemons on the side added to my tea joy. It's the small things. My SO ordered himself an open faced roastbeef sandwich. This is shredded roast on top of a sweet roll smothered in gravy with a side of mashed potato. He certainly ate it like it was tasty. (I did confirm - it is tasty.) I went with an a la carte breakfast of two eggs and one pancake. The pancake had a slightly sweet taste and is fluffy. The eggs were cooked perfectly 'over easy'. You can tell they are cooked as eggs should be over a low heat - no scorch marks on the outer edge. Bathrooms are in the back left corner and are cleanest where it matters most. Diaper station in the ladies room. During our visit many of the guests knew each other and chatted amongst themselves. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly. They kept a close eye on all the guests making sure everyone had everything they needed. All together a good stop.
