Pork tenderloin sandwich
Richard S.

Small town diner - this place does alright with their dishes. And the price of everything is certainly (very) reasonable. Gizzards &Livers: These were pretty darn good. A good coating...cooked well. I'd get these anytime at this diner. Pork tenderloin: A very good pork tenderloin sandwich. Very good size and good fry in the pork. Didn't come with onion, which is always a must - just add it. Mashed potatoes and gravy: Gravy needed to be seasoning much more on this day. Mashed potatoes were a good tasting homemade potato. Hamburger steak: My kid has this and thought it was a pretty good dish. A good clean little diner. Good service by our waitress. And the place has plenty of business, which usually ensures good fresh food!

Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich

Friendly service, prices are good and the food tastes homemade. CFS sandwich was delicious, some can be tough and hard to bite through but this one was tender inside with a crispy hand battered crust. The Hot steak sandwich turned out to be CFS too which wasn't what we expected but it was really good. The star of the show though was the pie! I wanted the raisin pie but they were out so I got the coconut. It was the best coconut pie since my grandma used to make them! The lemon was really good too...but oh my...that coconut!!

We ordered * 2+2. Which is two pancakes with two eggs and two pieces of bacon. * cheeseburger with only pickles and a side of fries covered in chili * apple pie ala mode * a slice of yellow cake with chocolate frosting. * 2 glasses of water Issues: * My husband ordered his eggs over hard we had to send them back four times and he finally gave up and they were still runny yolks. * None of the food had very good flavor. Most of it was very Bland. * The water was very heavily chlorinated and tasted like wet dog. * There was almost no cheese on my chili cheeseburger. The good: * Everything we ordered only came up to $21 * The bacon seem to be quality bacon and it was cooked correctly. * The wait staff was attentive * The restaurant appeared clean. * plenty of parking It appeared to be a hoppin little restaurant. It was very busy the entire time we were there which was about noon on a Sunday. Most of the crowd eating at this restaurant was an older crowd.

If you're hungry in Northeast Oklahoma don't miss this. You'll be lucky to get a table at lunchtime at this busy cafe on Historic Route 66 just north of Afton, OK. Don't let the elegant exterior fool you, this is down-to-earth, belly-fillin grub. Friendly atmosphere and service. Standard diner menu: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Had a BLT - excellent crisp bacon and fresh tomato. Seasonal decorations enliven the decor - Easter eggs featured on our visit. Dine in or carry out.

The Shebang - Very tough pork chop

Food: should've known that expectations for food were down in the dumps when we asked what wine…read morethey had and instead of saying regions or vintages, our waitress listed types of wine. The Cabernet was cloyingly sweet and set the tone for a pretty meh meal. The pork chops I ordered can only be described as tasting like shoe leather. They were some of toughest I ever had and I highly regret ordering it. Salad was also WAY too salty. My wife ordered a salad where half of the ingredients were missing because they were out of it. Key elements like candied pecans and the dressing were missing. I know it's off season but the lack of ingredients and the lack of cooking finesse are inexcusable for a restaurant. Service: server was nice. However, she neglected to tell us various things were out of stock including half of the ingredients on the salad. It's almost laughable, one of the main menu items was a ribeye, and they were out of that. We had a reservation at 5pm so it's crazy that they were out of stock of so many things at that time of day. Ambiance: very crazy and unique atmosphere as far as the decorations and the menu descriptions. However it felt too much at times, and the lack of music in the restaurant kind of killed the mood.

We show up and there is a sign on the door that says "temporarily closed." Tell me why we got a confirmation text confirming our reservation when they are obviously not open. We called them multiple times throughout the day and got voicemail. The voicemail never said they were temporarily closed. I am disappointed by the way that this was handled by them!

Seat yourself, a waitress quickly stopped by with menus and took a drink order. The menu is pretty big and includes breakfast and a kids menu. I ordered hot tea and am so happy to have received a cup of tea with a pot of tea back-up! Yes, all the tea please. The lemons on the side added to my tea joy. It's the small things. My SO ordered himself an open faced roastbeef sandwich. This is shredded roast on top of a sweet roll smothered in gravy with a side of mashed potato. He certainly ate it like it was tasty. (I did confirm - it is tasty.) I went with an a la carte breakfast of two eggs and one pancake. The pancake had a slightly sweet taste and is fluffy. The eggs were cooked perfectly 'over easy'. You can tell they are cooked as eggs should be over a low heat - no scorch marks on the outer edge. Bathrooms are in the back left corner and are cleanest where it matters most. Diaper station in the ladies room. During our visit many of the guests knew each other and chatted amongst themselves. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly. They kept a close eye on all the guests making sure everyone had everything they needed. All together a good stop.

Returning to Pistol Pats's diner to try the dinner menu. On a recent call in order, we went with…read morethe chk frd stk. dinner, I suggest everyone try the whatever else till they decide to buy a better cut of meat , it was like chewing small, long, stringy, round, rubber bands and in between the rubber bands was a severely leather cooked, fried to perfection, can't cut through with a knife steak. Everything else was pretty good, mashed potatoes w/ wht grvy, corn, mozzarella sticks but there's something seriously wrong with the steak when you start looking forward to eating the fried concoction surrounding the steak during the meal.... you know what I'm sayin, I'd still be chewing that steak this very day ‍‍. Then... (clearing throat) let's talk about the catfish dinner w/ fries and slaw, I'm trying to be generous by saying it was a complete disappointment. The fries were wet, cold and undercooked and the coleslaw was warm and limp, completely disgusting even our cat debated eating the fish that wasn't eaten. It will be a minute before we order dinner again from Pistols I'm giving 2 stars, one star for each dinner, it was just sad. For the positive, the dinner roll was soft and warm, the mozzarella sticks were knocked outta the park, never tasted better If you are reading this review... we suggest to sticking to just breakfast at night hire a better cook, change the meat you are currently serving because there's no value in chasing away customers over bad cooks, lazy food checkers and crappy choices in food sourcing. The chicken fried steak was a nightmare past the awesome fried covering you dip it in, just down right inedible. The fish is awful and overcooked and your fries are undercooked, seriously what's going on there at night ??? cause it isn't cooking food correctly or even being checked before leaving, does anyone there try tasting what you're serving before you serve it??? EPIC IDEA

My daughter and I visited Otter Cove recently (6-27-2024), and unfortunately, our experience was…read morequite disappointing. My daughter's hot dog arrived cold, and after we brought it to the waitress's attention, it was returned to us seemingly refried, with the bun still cold. This raised concerns about food safety as the hot dog had already had a bite taken out of it. Additionally, while her hot dog was in the kitchen, I took a bite of my BLT and noticed something off with the bacon--whether it was an odd smoky flavor or simply due to prolonged heating, I'm uncertain. At that point, we decided to ask if we could settle the bill for our fries and drinks and find dinner elsewhere. When the waitress returned, she said they could remove the cost of the hot dog but not the BLT (that I had only taken one small bite of before deciding better of it). I asked if this decision came from the manager, but the waitress explained the manager was temporarily unavailable and she had to ask the cashier. She let us know we could wait for the manager and we did, which only took about 5-8 minutes. When a man hung up the phone and approached us, he directly informed us that the general manager had authorized a 20% discount on the BLT but that they could not remove the charge. I questioned whether they were aware that the hot dog had been returned to the fryer after being partially eaten, and if they knew about the bacon issue. He confirmed she was aware and did not correct me when I stated they had put it into a communal fryer that other people's food would also be cooked in. I reiterated that we were willing to pay for what we did consume--excluding the hot dog and the BLT--and leave, but if we were to pay for those items and still must find dinner elsewhere, I would leave a review of our experience. He then apologized and explained he was trying to fix up the place. We wished him good luck, paid for what we consumed as well as what we couldn't safely consume, and left, opting to end our evening elsewhere. Our interaction with the staff regarding this request was less than satisfactory. While the staff was apologetic, it seems they are not permitted authority to make customer service decisions on their own. The handling of our concerns, particularly regarding food quality and safety, left us disappointed. I've previously had positive experiences at Otter Cove, but this incident, particularly the practice of putting touched products anywhere near other people's food or actually IN the shared fryer, is concerning and not reflective of past visits. I hope this feedback encourages improvements in food handling and customer service.
