After the first bite, iI was unable to eat a second. My beef club sandwich was packed with what was mostly layers of ice cold fat globs. What lean meat there was cold and stringy, and looked raw enough to bellow. I ate my tough onion petals and part of my pickle and left hungry. When I showed the waitress the meat, she agreed it did not look good at all, and went to tell the manager. He didn't even bother to come out and look at the plate. I and three other family member came here for a lunch. We were seated fairly quickly. It took about 15 min before our drink order was taken. When the server eventually returned it was genuinely an hour wait for our food. For reference there were maybe 15 people in the restaurant. I asked for a 8oz sirloin, rare with Mac n cheese and a loaded sweet potato. When we did get our food, I revived a burnt well done steak, Mac n cheese with zero seasoning and a sweet potato that was nothing but a sweet potato that was cut opened. I politely informed my waitress whenever I seen her 15 minutes later. I she took the steak away and minutes later returned with another steak. This steak was...and I cannot emphasize this work enough...ICE COLD..as in every bit of 40 degree. It had to be on the grill less than 3 minutes. I went here for a surprise birthday party. The place has 2 large rooms that I saw and could accommodate larger parties. I ordered the Caribbean Cowboy for a cocktail drink and it was pretty good. Went into the Angus Branch this afternoon 1/14 after church with my Wife. We sat down and waited for a waitress or waiter to start taking our order. We had to call someone over; waiving my hand flagging someone that works there. It then took more then a couple of minutes. Now this is a restaurant my wife an I enjoy after church in the afternoon for lunch. The food seems to be always a delight, and our orders are usually to the "T" on what we order. Today, both my husband and I had steaks - I had the 14 oz prime rib (medium) and he had the Jack Daniels ribeye (medium rare). We thought we'd give this place another try, but they always overcook the steaks. It was both dry. For my 14 oz prime rib - I should have just ordered the 12 oz. Obnoxious wannabe 'Gram influencers from the Worst. Generation. EVER. at the table opposite from us, won't quit literally yelling swear words with our 4 kids sitting here. Management? Nowhere to be found. I instructed the newly minted 21 year olds drinking away their stimulus check to cut out the swear words. They don't. We ask our waiter (the only capable person in the whole place, apparently) to get them to quiet down, the "manager" does nothing but feed them more liquor and beer. Favorite breakfast place! My son and I just had breakfast here this morning. Since it's a holiday they had their buffet which he loves. He's 11 and loves getting meats, biscuits with gravy and fresh fruit. I'm still in a knee scooter so I ordered off the menu. I had one of their breakfast skillets. It was cooked perfectly, even the eggs over easy. Some places overlook them but mine were perfect! Hash browns were golden and crispy. Even the bacon was cooked just how I like it, crispy but not burned. I always ask they hold the ham and mushrooms and the order was correct. Then my pancakes were so light and fluffy. If you are really hungry, you've gotta try a skillet. I get full on only half then take the rest home for a second meal! I had this same breakfast a couple weeks ago and it was just as good and fresh. Some places either over or undercook the hash browns and meat but mine really was perfect! My son had the buffet because he loves the meats, biscuits with gravy and fresh fruit. He said his was amazing! Bacon crispy and the biscuit just right. My Family went to Angus Because the other place in town was closed. We waited an hour and a half for our food for 1 thing. People that came in way after us got their food before we did and 2 of our orders were salads. and then upon getting our food 1 member of out party did not get their food and it was explained to us that the cooks first mixed up our orders then the cooks had thrown away the chicken that was to be placed on 1 of the salads. So that party sat there while everyone else ate dinner and had nothing to eat. Mind you we spent almost 100.00 dollars on what food we did get. In no way was this the servers fault but this is also the 3rd time we have been there in the last month and something had gone wrong each and every time. this place use to be one of the better places to eat. Bountiful buffet!! This place is like stepping back in time. A good time! There's a salad bar - lots of veggies and such and I could be wrong but I think even the salad dressings are made from scratch! Im SURE the salads like potatoes, macaroni and pea are house made and they know what they are doing! Fried catfish, beans, corn, fried chicken, roasted chicken, beef, fresh rolls, and MORE! One of Monett's treasures. It is a casual family style restaurant with a buffet and tasty surprises on the menu such as a decent prime rib and pretty good frog legs. Their salad bar was fresh and appealing. They are about the only sit down restaurant open on Sunday nights I heard, and the place was very busy. The servers seemed to take it all in stride and worked well as a team. A big kudos to the servers. I only give 5 stars to the high end places where courses are served and there's a wine list or beer list, so 4 is high marks for a place like this. They decor is cowboy; you know "Angus Beef". All in all good food, good service. We came back about a month later because we were in town again. Even better! We got their French Dip this time. NOT processed beef, but real prime. Haven't been impressed with Monett Restaurants, but this place came highly recommended, so I gave it a chance. Been there three times now, twice for Dinner and once for Breakfast. Absolutely NO complaints with the quality of the food or the portions. Great Salad Bar, love their Chicken Fried Chicken, and I really enjoyed their Biscuits and Gravy with Sausage Patty. Meh. I'll take mediocre food and good service any day over rude / bad service and good food. The quality of the food on the buffet is hit-and-miss. Today for example: we went during lunch time and it just seemed like everything had been leftover from the last few days. It was disappointing, but edible and we were hungry. That would have been ok had it not been for the rude waitress. The food is *usually* good / decent if you order from the menu, as long as they do not just pull something off of the buffet and put it on your plate (this happened the last time we went - we actually saw them do it. That was going to be my last time going, but we were in a pinch today and decided to give it one more try. Regretted it!). The service is usually ok. Sometimes it's great, depending on the waitress. Today however ... it was not that busy but our waitress did not check on our table or pre-bus. I used to work in the restaurant industry as a waitress and then as a manager ... pre-bussing is so important, as is simply checking on the table a time or two. Apparently [I know now!! Learned my lesson] the way to really tick your waitress off at the Angus Branch is to wait around (with your table full of empty plates) for her to bring your ticket and then when you are tired of waiting just go up to the hostess podium and ask for your ticket. She rushed up to the podium, put my ticket on it, took my card, and walked away, all without saying a word or looking in my eyes. When she brought the receipt back for a signature, she put the papers and the card down onto the podium, said quickly, "Sign this" and walked away. No, "thanks", "have a nice day" etc. I was even smiling, trying to make eye contact and say thank you, but since she did not look at me and was so rude, I just signed my receipt and left. The dinner rolls arrived with real butter AND a cinnamon sugar butter. It was like having a cinnamon roll. . Okay, the salad bar had quite a selection. The broccoli salad was yummy. Everything that I ever want on a salad was there. The meal was soooo good. I travel a lot and know a good steak. We visited Angus Branch on July 3. Granted it was a holiday weekend and I knew not to expect the usual good food & service but it was an even worse disappointment than expected. The food was WAY below standard & some of it was inedible. I ordered the fried shrimp. It was raw inside...the inside of the crust was complete dough & the shrimp was gray and uncooked. My in-laws ordered the Santa Fe salads. These usually come with dressing and tortilla chips. After requesting the dressing & chips, the server brought them but they chips were completely covered in oil and couldn't be eaten. I wish I'd taken photos because it was unbelievable. The service was extremely slow & they were not that busy. If this had been our first visit here we would never be back. I'm hoping this was just a fluke deal due to the holiday weekend and most regular staff being off but I will definitely think twice before visiting again. Very sad because this is generally a pretty good restaurant. The server did take the shrimp off our ticket after we asked. read more
