And I'm a super critic! I'm attaching the pics I do have and will add more as I go, to help the business. They've always been open for breakfast and lunch 7-2 and it's amazing...but now are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 8pm. Full menu...but the specials are AYCE catfish on Thursday, steak on Friday and chicken on Saturday. My point in this review is to try and get Buttered Bunns enough business to continue the Thurs-Sat evening hours. It's a 90 day trial that they are doing. And let's face it, dinner in Miami is your choice of numerous Mexican restaurants (FYI the newest one is more expensive and no better that the smaller places), and Mia Bella - a mediocre Itialian joint, casinos, fast food, or Montana Mikes which made a brief rally that I praised here on yelp a few years ago and then they promptly plunged again to the home of extremely overpriced crap! As I say this I also remember Woodys. Always overpriced but the food was good when Jeff owned it. New owners (same as Main Street Cafe) will drive it into the ground soon enough. We do have a few pizza places that aren't national chains but none of them offer anything exciting as far as toppings. Same as or less than the chain places...and Cruisin 66, the new wood fired place is the biggest disappointment of all as far as toppings go. Oh and we did have a phenomenal chicken place -Wing Club- (wings, sandwiches, wraps) until last week when the city condemned their rented building after just giving them a license to operate in said building a few months ago. Talk about some sh*t there!! I think they are getting a food truck now so kiss that one good-bye. Back to Buttered Bunns who has always been good... Consistent, homemade, real, excellent service. We live in the next town over so it's a 30 minute drive for us but we have been doing it each week to support their new evening hours. My SO ordered himself an open faced roastbeef sandwich. This is shredded roast on top of a sweet roll smothered in gravy with a side of mashed potato. He certainly ate it like it was tasty. (I did confirm - it is tasty.) I went with an a la carte breakfast of two eggs and one pancake. The pancake had a slightly sweet taste and is fluffy. The eggs were cooked perfectly 'over easy'. You can tell they are cooked as eggs should be over a low heat - no scorch marks on the outer edge. Bathrooms are in the back left corner and are cleanest where it matters most. Diaper station in the ladies room. During our visit many of the guests knew each other and chatted amongst themselves. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly. They kept a close eye on all the guests making sure everyone had everything they needed. All together a good stop.

A nice touch was the live solo country musician performing. I ordered fried green tomatoes, and my wife had the catfish basket. As I looked around, the helpings were large. No way I could eat all that! I noticed on Yelp that one could order the fish half size. Water and lemonade round out the entree. The fried green tomatoes were battered, flaky, and cooked well. But after eating a few, it was too oily. The catfish was done well but was too salty, as were the hush puppies. I've never drunk toilet water, but if I had, it surely would taste like the water I drank. No thanks. The water tasted bad even with the lemon. The restaurant didn't make the water. However, it desperately needs a filter--cudos to the kitchen and servers for plating and serving the food nice and hot. Now the bill. I noticed a 3.5% surcharge if you used a card. I was also shocked to find an additional charge of 1.99 because, according to the receipt, I was over 12 years old ordering a kids' meal. Wait, what! Less food, but an upcharge? Then another upcharge for substituting onion rings for fries. Now my final takeaway. I always ask myself, would I return for more? No, I would not. I try to judge the food first because there are "hole-in-the-wall" places that serve great food. Was the food seasoned? The food was, but when the salt is the main thing that stands out, it's just too salty. If so, what are you trying to hide? Last, they didn't even question whether we wanted dessert from the menu: just a smile and a goodbye from the waitress. I left a nice tip for the service and went on my way.
