Just not good. They are busy because they one of only three shows in town. They want to appear to be nostalgic but it's not real. Elvis on the walls and punk rock music blasting on the speakers. The food is marginal and everything I've had there tastes like it was cooked or prepared with something else. Very overpriced and the servers are all rude and pretentious. I was in town and we wanted to celebrate my niece's birthday. Iggy's Diner was the birthday girl's choice!!! As you walk in, you get the old school vibe. We came after the lunch crowd, but too early for dinner!! ( That's the best time! ) We sat at the corner area. We were a party of 9. I didn't catch our waitress's name, however, she did an excellent job keeping up with up with our group. We had ordered Golden Fried Mushrooms, Fried Okra, and Mozzarella Sticks for the appetizers. For the most part, everyone had ordered the double or triple bacon cheeseburger burgers. One of the kids ordered the Frito Pie and Chicken Strips. Overall, a FANTASTIC choice for a family outing!! The food was made to order. The fries and tater tots were crispy outside and moist on the inside. Our burgers were tasty and moist!! The kids enjoyed their meals. A few people ordered the cherry limeade and raved how good it was. We had a FABULOUS experience!! Our waitress took our orders and didn't have anyone help her. She kept coming back to make sure we were ok. She made refills on our drinks as needed. She was friendly and helpful. Iggy's Diner has great menu choices. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Flamin' hot burger is probably the best burger I've ever had. It has the perfect amount of jalapeños. And the fries were absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and fast, and our server was the sweetest lady. We ordered our food, and it arrived in less than 5 minutes. It's a decently small restaurant, but the design is very interesting and retro. It's very simple, but effective. The lighting was good, and the restaurant was clean. 10/10 I will definitely be back next time I'm in Carthage. read more

We ordered the West Coast Eggs Benedict and it was excellent. We couldn't eat it fast enough. The service very friendly and helped us adapt to our needs as vegetarian sand gluten free. For the ambiance, it was a 50's diner with all its nostalgic features and we enjoyed very much. read more

We went out for a family breakfast this morning, and we had never been to Iggy's. The restaurant itself is pretty cool since it feels like a retro diner. We were seated immediately and the service was great. My husband and I were both pleased with the food both in taste and amount for the price. My only complaint (and I should know better) is that the Meat Lover's Skillet came with cheese on it, and it isn't mentioned on the menu. Normally, this would be fine, but I am dairy free. I picked it off, but if you have a dairy allergy, just ask more questions than I did. Overall, it was quick and yummy! We'll be back! read more

This is a cute Route 66 diner. It was quick and the food was delicious. We tried the fried okra, onion rings, grilled chicken sandwich, open faced roast beef, and my children had the Mac & cheese and the chili cheese dog with fries. I met my friend for breakfast and we ended up taking up this corner booth for over two hours. I haven't seen her in mumble-mumble years so we had a lot of catching up to do and on a Sunday morning, our waitress didn't mind that we sat here this long. The place wasn't all that busy. I chose the Mexican Skillet with my eggs poached. They were perfect, laid right on top with just the right amount of yolk to spill out onto the mixed hash. And oh boy, the jalapenos were HOT today. Quite a few of them and spicy enough that after a bit I was setting them to the side. Delicious! Coffee was great, food was great, service was great. Five stars. I;ve wanted to come in here for sometime, the outside design looks like a cookie cutter faux 50s diner so i was expecting lots of chrome and pink and over priced burgers. But I was totally wrong. Iggy's is totally authentic! First off the food was tasty, served promptly and well just good diner food but not greasy. Where Iggy's really shines is in its vibe. It plays up the Route 66 them with trinkets and t-shirts under the front counter but does not try to be too polished or sterile as some 50s diners do. The 50s era Elvis memorabilia all looks real and old like its been their since Elvis was shaking his hips on Ed Sullivan. If a little worn down it adds to the over all authentic character of the place but worn well is not the same thing as worn out, its comfortable, not old and busted. The cadre of waitresses are also what you'd want from a small town hustling diner, fast, friendly, feisty and connecting with all the locals. I think every waitress in the place talked to me over my lunch! Just hello and can I get you anything, quick and to the point, not chatty since I was a stranger. But just the right local flavor with the locals to make them interesting to watch interact. "How's the grand kids?" and "look out for that storm a coming", "haven't seen you in a while have you been ill", etc. as they checked people out. The lunch crowd seemed mostly local too, a mix of farmers and ranchers, construction, local politicians, grandmas who lunch and gossip about old men and politics, local law enforcement, and small town politicians, truckers, traveling sales people and me. I like a mix and its fun to catch bits of the conversations which swung to every topic. I did not try the shakes but I'm guessing they will be great. I had a cheese burger and tater tots which I prefer over most fries. Iggy's has the great nugget ice and my diet Dr. Pepper was correctly balanced between syrup and carbonation (it's amazingly sad how many fast food joints have lousy sodas today). My burger was made to order and tasty with exactly what I asked for (another thing many places can't ever get right). I will be back since Iggy's is close reasonably close to my work, I wish it was in Joplin instead of Carthage as I would be inclned to drop in on weekend breakfasts too. read more

This place is as classic of a diner as they come. Friendly fast welcoming staff. Good coffee, diner counter and it looks like a diner not some place in a strip mall. I had the biscuits and gravy w 2 eggs over easy, sausage patties and hashbrowns. The bng was on point with thick white sausage gravy actually peppered an seasoned. There was plenty of gravy as well. TL;DR: I think Yelp's description of the star rating is on target for this one: "Meh. I've experienced better." Now, it may be entirely my perception on this. Okay, it's my review, so it probably is. Though, I can't seem to get behind Iggy's Diner and the food they serve. I can't seem to get behind the atmosphere of Iggy's Diner, either. I say these things as I have been going to this restaurant ever since I was a wee lad. I guess, even back then, I did not feel like it had a special place in my heart as some of the other places that I enjoyed when I was younger. So for the food: There is a decent amount of options that are of the similar diner-like theme. As for myself, this is where I have tried to go out of my way to find something I really liked, but just couldn't seem to. Each time I kinda felt as if something may have been missing and I wasn't sure what it was, in the moment. As for the service: It is good, no complaints here. To wrap up, I don't believe I will be suggesting to go here if I were to be choosing among friends or family. Additionally, if I were to be suggested it, I would voice my preference otherwise. Hopefully this may help some passer-by. But also, feel free to give it a chance! Maybe this type of cuisine and atmosphere is right for you! Iggy's was a wonderful experience from start to finish, from the retro neon signage out front to the Route 66 decor on the inside, the great server (Peyton), and the delicious food. I ordered the catfish with green beans and home made French fries, while my mother-in-law ordered the Asian salad. Both were fresh, abundant, and flavorful. The salad had mandarin oranges, pecans, and grapes on the bed of mixed greens. The pecans were plentiful, which delighted my mother-in-law. The catfish was lightly breaded and fried to perfection. I hate leaving bad reviews but feel I have to. My daughter and 2 grandchildren ate there yesterday and I have to say I was disappointed. I ordered a chef salad that I should have sent back. Over half of the iceberg lettuce was wilting and turning brown. The chicken fried chicken my daughter ordered was rubbery. The corndog and fries kids meal was fine. The side order of Mac n cheese was dry. The side order of green beans was fine. The bill was astonishing at $50 but I guess when they charge over $10 for 3, 16 oz soft drinks. I won't be going back. Shiny exterior. Inside, Elvis, Route 66 wallpaper, Cary Grant wallpaper in the ladies bathroom. Nice and neat, clean and very attentive staff. Diner booths or tables were clean and neat. We ordered a bacon ranch burger and a single cheese burger, 1/2 fries 1/2 onion straws/shoestring onions. I love those. Keep the heavy breading give me the skinny ones. Burgers were fine. Doesn't seem to be a hand made patty, lettuce and tomato were good. Not greasy. Bun could have used a grill and warm up. The bun wasn't nice and soft. Fries are hand sliced looking, not crispy and weren't very hot. Onion strings were not hot at all. But ya know they can cool Down quickly being that skinny. Our waitresses... keep in mind we engaged the conversation, and there was only 1 other customer in the place. It was 4.00. They were very nice. Both HS ladies and they have big plans. We enjoyed listening to them tell us what they are going to do in the future. Ava is going to Vet school in Wyoming. She is also a roper right now, ranches with her family who has cattle and she is a roper. She got a scholarship from a roper organization and will use that at JUCO. The other is going for her CMA with aspirations of being a pediatric oncologist. Her dream job is to work at St Jude's! You go! So wonderful to hear their dreams and goals. Stopped for lunch on our way to Little Rock and were not disappointed! Such a fun diner without being overly cheesy in decor. Service was great and very fast for food made to order. Tyler and I both got the chubby cheese burger which is their double and I definitely should have gotten a single. That being said, their burgers were delicious! I tried the fries and Tyler tried the onion rings with our burgers and we both agreed the fries were better. Had to finish it off with a strawberry shake for the road!
