Open Face Hot Roast Beef and Country Fried Steak
    Kathy G.

I took my mother here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is nice and clean and there were several locals dining. The server was extremely pleasant, helpful and prompt. I had the open faced hot roast beef sandwich and you could cut it with a fork. Same with mom's country fried steak. I've heard breakfast is excellent and I will definitely be back to try it

This place is AMAZING! My husband discovered it while on his way to a job and would not stop raving about it! We went for breakfast the next week and I was so happy we did. Delicious food, large portions and friendly, prompt staff. We both had the chicken fried chicken breakfast specials. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette meal to go for my son. One of our favorite places now, this diner is the best!

Great open faced beef plate. Chicken fried steak, hash browns, eggs, biscuit and gravy were excellent.

I think it was heated in the microwave because it was sooo hot. The crust was flaky and buttery, delicious! The only downside was some of it was on the hard side I am assuming from a microwave. Overall it was very good. My husband had biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were the lightest fluffiest biscuit I've ever had! He thought that they exceptional but couldn't eat it all! I don't mind the use of a microwave except when it changes the quality of the food.

We had the meatloaf sandwich which was moist and juicy perfected by just the right amount of mayo and large fresh juicy slices of tomatoes. We had a side of chili which had great flavor but a little bit too watery for my taste and definitely not warm enough for me. On our way out we grabbed some apple butter and peach whiskey butter. And of course after eyeing the dessert we went with the carrot cake and 2 cookies because we couldn't decide. The carrot cake was moist and flavorful and crunchy and smooth frosting was perfection. By far the best carrot cake I've ever had. The cookies were snickerdoodle and blueberry lemon and white chocolate.

It's a lovely drive across the lake, out of the hustle and bustle of town, which we love. A quaint mom and pop feel, with music playing, not too loudly. We were seated right away at 9:00 on a Thursday morning. Our server Lori greeted us quickly and kept our coffee cups warm! Such a friendly lady and she described the menu options so well that she talked one of us into their cinnamon french toast special of the day! Our food was served quickly and was nice and hot. Each item was tasty, and for me, I was very pleased that the hash browns did not have that greasy grill taste! My cheesy omelet was generously filled an made to order, as I prefer mine a little different. The bacon was delicious, a perfect blend of thick and chewy with a bit of crisp. We will definitely visit again!

We really enjoyed the apple butter! And dessert is not to be missed. We had the apple pie, and it was delicious, and more than enough for the two of us. The dining hall is beautifully adorned with cabin-esque motif and overlooks the campus and mountains. The menu has a great variety and notes items that are made by the students (e.g. butters and cakes). Their complimentary, fresh made bread basket with three types of butters was a fantastic start to the meal. We ordered the mushroom soup, the pork belly sandwich w/ fries, and the shrimp and grits. I will say that the pork belly po' boy was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life! I almost stayed in town longer on the second day just to order it again. The pork belly was smoky, tender, and sweet and paired so well with the grain mustard, pickled onions and arugula -- superb balance of flavors. My husband also noted the shrimp and grits was some of the best he's ever had. The shrimp and pork belly in the dish were perfectly cooked and the Cajun spices were well balanced. And we have to tell you to try their fresh desserts. The brown butter chocolate cake was a special ending to the meal. This is an excellent stop and our student server provided excellent service - they're doing a great job there and is a highly recommended of ours during your stop during your visit to Branson.

We had a party of 24 and was seated reasonably quick. Hostess was great and the waiter and waitress serving our tables were friendly and professional. An added plus was they could really sing and knew how to get the crowd involved. The atmosphere and decor was consistent with a 50s to early 70s hamburger joint. Food wasn't spectacular but you are really coming for the unique atmosphere and free (and enjoyable) entertainment. Food wasn't spectacular good and consistent with an early American hamburger joint. Bathroom was reasonably clean especially for how busy this place is. Overall cleanliness was good. Wait staff is very good. If you are visiting or just passing through Branson and want a quick meal, give this place a shot. I really don't think anyone with reasonable expectations will be disappointed in the food and atmosphere. From order to food served was about 15 minutes despite the restaurant being packed.
