a restaurant decorated with colorful lights
    Danielle C.

This spot catches your attention. The lights are something else and it was a one of a kind dining experience. I went with a group and we ordered family style and loved our time here. It was our friends birthday and the server did a special light show and song to celebrate him. We all agreed we have never experienced anything like it. * note: it's a small restaurant we were the only ones but you could feel claustrophobic, they do not serve alcohol, I don't believe there is AC....... But if you go in open minded to the experience I think you could have a fantastic time*

A very interesting restaurant. Obviously the decor is the first thing to catch your eye and definitely adds to the unique experience! First thing to note, there are 2 surrounding restaurants that have the exact same decor and have workers outside of the restaurant trying to lead you into their restaurants, rather than letting you enter Milon. Odd, but again adds to the unique experience. Would not recommend this place for big groups, if you don't want a long wait. You can try to make reservations but it doesnt mean much since they take all reservations, they look for your whole group to arove and then from there they seat on a first come first serve basis. For our group of 7 we waited about an hour outside on the stairs to be seats. BUT, I will say they were making a strong effort to seat us and even allowed us to merge 2 tables to finally be seated inside. Once you get inside its a tiny spot covered with fun and beautiful lights! I would not recommended this place for the food. We had a fixed menu since it was a large group, food was flavorful but nothing to rave about. But we really enjoyed the overall dining experience and hospitality. Overall, I liked my experience here, but with the quality of food and wait time it would not be a go to spot. I would definitely consider this a fun place for celebrations for the ambiance and because its byob.

Well, you walk in and you still get the ambiance you're used to but the ownership has changed and things on the menu just aren't as we remembered it. We've been going to Milon for 13 years and my husband has been going consistently for over 30. Sadly the quality isn't as good as we'd hoped and no longer worth the hour drive. Our latest visit wasn't great but we'll try again.

There's a reason why Milon/Panna II draw a really big crowd in front of them and beckon tons of people to stop, look and question what the hell is going on. It goes without saying, it's all those damn lights. In order to keep those lights on, the restaurants have a high turnover, but offer pretty good food. We made reservations for I think Panna but they were honored at Milon, so I'm not sure how that works... We had a fairly large group of about 15 people and tons, I'm talking more than a case of wine, since it is BYOB. The restaurant suggested to us to order a pre-fixe kind of deal, so I can't remember all the dishes, the wine doesn't help the memory either. But I thoroughly enjoyed everything.

This place is tiny but decorated is nicely. Quality of the food is good. Service could be better since we were a bigger group we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food.

A NY must see! There are 4 Indian restaurants right next to each other. Each restaurant has a host trying to lure you in. Milon is my fave. It's BYOB . The ceiling is covered in tons of xmas lights, streamers and tons more kitschy decor. My husband and I came here one Saturday afternoon. My husband bought us a lovely, crafty Belgium beer at the market next door. We then ordered the prix fixe option dinner options. It's such a great deal and I can never eat it all. I love the Chana Shag, it's a garbanzo/spinach dish. The vegetarian meal combo is only $12 and it's the entree, basmati rice, papadum, vegetarian samosa, soup and even dessert. I also heart all green sauce they have for dipping. Cash Only

i would give this less than a star if i could. I took a group of my friends 7 of us) bad idea, since it's such a small area. The lights were really cute but because the customer service and experience was terrible that it ruined it. Our waiter was really passive aggressive and rude. There was a fly in one of my friends water, we still stuck aroundy to give them benefit of the doubt. The food finally came and while we were eating, there was a cockroach walking on the table. That was the last straw, we all told the waiter first he didn't believe us b/c he couldn't see it. The cockroach finally came out under the plate and he apologized once he saw it. We wanted to leave the restaurant because it ruined our appetite. He continued to argue with us saying that other customers have seen the cockroaches and never acted like this. Then he continued to block out exit out of the restaurant and saying " you are not gonna pay for your food, you ate it" we told him to call the police. That definitely made him nervous. He still continued to argue and gas light us, we just left. I've never had someone so rude and despite that he was obviously wrong, he still continued to defend himself.

3.5 stars. This place is such a hoot. From the hosts outside trying to compete with all of the other Indian restaurants crowded onto this street to get you in the door to being BYOB to the crazy colorful array of lights inside, this place just has a unique character and is a fun experience. I dropped by here with two other friends on a Saturday night. Seating is pretty cramped but it felt cozy. I had a few bites of a lamb curry, which was very flavorful. I also had the vegetable curry and it was solid as well. I didn't try enough of the food to feel like it really stood out to me, but just environment alone I think this is a fun place with a couple of friends! You can't go wrong with BYOB!

I came in here last Thursday for a late lunch. They have a lunch special. I ordered the shrimp curry. The lunch special comes with a vegetable samosa, vegetable soup, the entree with rice and mango ice cream. So much food. The soup came first. Tomato based broth, very flavorful. Then the samosa. Flaky crust. Spiced potato filling. They provided the onions, coriander chutney and tamarind sauce. The shrimp curry had a good amount of spice but wasn't hot. The shrimp were tender. The basmati rice was fluffy. There was also dal and cabbage. I couldn't eat all the food. I asked for the rest to go. They packed up the rice and the curry separately. They then served a dish of mango ice cream. Sweet and creamy. They provided the bill without my asking but that was fine. I left after paying. One of the best values for South Asian lunch in the area.

    Love all the lights!

They've passed that torch to their sister restaurant, Adda. Not only has their menu changed, but so has the staff. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, but in this case, it was. We were recently served by someone who admitted himself that he's only been there for a week. No big deal. Except our first dish took 30 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile the folks to the left and right of us kept getting their food and they ordered after us. When we were done with our first and only dish, I asked our waiter where the rest of the food was, only to find out he didn't fire any of it because he was waiting for us to completely finish. The service was not good. And the food is not nearly as fun and delicious as it used to be. I don't know if I'll be coming back to Dhamaka anymore.

In addition to holding us hostage for an hour and continued lying, he tries to make the racist point that Indian food is more sophisticated and takes longer to prepare than other types of Asian food. The food was admittedly good, but not good enough for them to have the attitude they had.
