I live this little French bakery, mostly for its ambiance. In the morning it's sunny, and one warm days the patio tables are the best spot on Vanderbilt. Inside is more spacious than most shops. There is a good selection of pastries, which one may or may not consider remarkable compared to other places, but the baguettes are delicious. I wish the coffee was a little better, but I guess you can't have everything. read more

YUM! Came here to kill some time before our reservations nearby. They have ample pastry selections, which all looked delicious! I got the Almond Croissant (~$4.75), which was SO GOOD and probably one of my favorites. Their Matcha Latte ($5.50) was also perfectly balanced between the matcha + milk, which complemented my pastry very well. Everything was standardly priced - their large breads were also very affordable ($5-6) and looked fresh! Staff were very friendly and there's a good amount of seating inside, with a few tables outside for nicer days. I used to come here all the time as I live only a block away. Yes it's overpriced and yes the macaroons are priced so high that it's basically a prank. But I still liked it here. Would get a baguette and a treat and a coffee at least a few times a month. But I'm going to be taking a break. Here's why: I hate to put the young man on blast but the tall slim young man who has recently started working there has twice in as many visits done something gross and uncivilized that sent me running for the exit before it was even my turn to order. The first time he was putting his fingers in his mouth and biting his nails. I left and came back a week later only to the see him coughing and sneezing into his hands. You're handling food! Not cool! Maybe I'll try again later this year. read more

I've been on the hunt for a good almond croissant, so ventured out to Mille-Feuille. The space is quaint located on the corner of Vanderbilt and Prospect with lots of shops around. They also have indoor tables and two outdoors, so you can actually do work or hang around. I ordered the Almond Croissant ($5.25) and Matcha Latte ($5). The croissant is beautifully baked with a crisp bottom. I really enjoyed this one as it was not too sweet either. The matcha was standard here. I don't think I'd go out of my way for this, but still a great find. read more

Stopped into Mille-Feuille while in the area to pick up some pastries. The highlight was the mango danish. Or at least I think it was mango flavored. It was very good - not too sweet and nice and crunchy on the outside. The line is long but it moves quickly. read more

To be honest, when I saw the delicate desserts were served with paper plates, my heart has already sinked a bit before I started tasting them. It lowered the overall dining experience... (it was understandable tho as only one friendly boy was serving the entire café) ＊ Mille-Feuille Same as the bakery name, I supposed this would be its signature cake. The top feuille layer was caramalized. However, the three layers of feuilles were not crunchy and the custard cream was thick and unsmooth - which gave an impression that the cake was not fresh enough. ＊ Apricot Tart The preserved apricot was bit too sweet for my flavor, yet the baked cake underneath tasted quite nice. ＊ Cafe au Lait Average taste. This is a review of the baguettes. Absolutely not good. This is the only French bakery in the area that have baguettes we've tried twice (the second time was an accident bc we forgot which place had the bad baguettes) and threw away after a few bites. I don't remember how the croissants are but I feel like the baguette is to a French bakery as vanilla is to an ice cream shop. You can judge quality of the shop based on that time and if it's bad steer clear. read more

Matcha latte was pure milk, zero matcha flavor. The lemon cake was super dry. The vanilla crisp dessert was probably the best thing we had - the cream was delicious, but slightly too sweet, and the crisps were way too hard to eat. The service was very good and there's a good amount of seating, but I wouldn't go back. read more

I must say my husband and I were extremely underwhelmed by the food we got from this bakery. I ordered an almond croissant that had absolutely no lamination, was doughy, and the filling was overly sweet. It looked like a croissant but it tasted like a roll. So disappointing. My husband's breakfast sandwich also was just really bleh. I'm amazed that people come here when there are so many amazing bakeries in the area. read more

Came with really high expectations because the star rating on yelp and because everything at the store looked really good and yummy. I really wanted it to work but no... Had on Saturday morning 2 plain croissants, nutella twist and a latte to go. Both pastries were disappointing. They LOOKED VERY GOOD BUT TASTED MEH. Croissant was on the drier side (LPQ has it better!). And the twist was really bad, bland and really dry! Husband thought that it wasn't fresh from the same day. Tasted like leftover pastry from the day before... Total cost ~$19. Each plain croissant was $4 and the twist $5.6. Not worth it read more

Decided to check this place out as I was craving Mille-Feuille. As the name suggests, this bakery seems to be famous for it although there are lots of options as you can see on the photos. We were greeted by a really friendly staff who answered our questions nicely. Got little bits of different cake/macarons for to go and had them at home. I wouldn't say it is like a WOW taste, but still a good bakery to have in the neighborhood. If you crave some Mille-Feuille and other baked goods, come check this place out! read more

I really wanted to love this spot as I live in the neighborhood and I am a recovering francophile, but honestly Mille-Feuille has disappointed me more than once. I've had rock-hard baguettes from this location twice so I decided maye an in-person visit would change my mind. It was mediocre at best. The good: the ham and cheese croissant tasted good toasted; thank you for offering a heated option. However, it cost $9, so there's that. The coffee, while fine, was $4.25 for a regular drip coffee. Then there was the SOFT AND CHEWY almond croissant To top it off, there is no ambiance to speak of inside. Yes, the pastry case looks pretty and there is seating, but the shop is an echo chamber with no music playing, so all you can hear are kids screaming and workers being passive-aggressive to other customers. Go elsewhere if you want a satisfying bakery experience. read more

Came by for an afternoon pick me up - a big fan of their rolled almond croissant ($5.40)! Perfectly flakey with the right amount of almond paste. Popped in for a pastry last week. (I'm a sucker for a good croissant) I asked the staff which to order between an almond croissant or pain au chocolate. They promised both were incredible but led me to the almond croissant which I was thankful for! The pastry was light, the dough was stretchy and it was packed with so much almond filling it was overflowing! Oat milk latte was good too, but the croissant stole the show. Danielle and Lily were the perfect team to learn how to cook a family recipe that we all successfully muddled through together. Loved how the chefs on the "call" gave helpful baking tips along the way. Helpful Hints- Whisk the eggs, milk and water, then add the melted butter Whisk the flour, sugar and a pinch of sea salt Slowly add the dry ingredients by 1/3 increments to the wet ingredients and continue to whisk Add the beer, watch it bubble and the wait an hour for the magic to happen The batter will be thin Butter your pan Use a ladle to pour the batter onto a hot skillet Have fun with sweet or savory fillings. We did a combination of both. Mushrooms, broccoli, arugula and havarti or arugula, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and a fried egg were the favorite savory options.
