Baking with our buds Thursdays with Michel et Augustin
    Zo M.

I recently found this chef online who makes amazing @micheletaugustine cookies that they sell Online and at Whole foods.Doing daily Thursday night cooking classes on IG has been both fun and helpful to improve my cooking knowledge. I ABSOLUTELY love to eat out and learn about new things online or locally. The need to keep your mind active and things that please your palate have helped reduce some of the stress from the Covid19 pandemic. From making crepes to strawberry galettes to berry crumbles , I cannot wait to find these amazing desserts at local restaurants. These cooking classes have given me a new appreciation for food and cannot wait to do more.

Hooray for Delta Airlines, who stocks the Michel Et Augustin cookies in their "extended" snack basket. Yeah, the regular snack basket is Biscoffs and pretzels (and sometimes, peanuts). But when you're in the seats close to the front of the plane, you might luck out and spot these amazing cookies. "Two Kooky Cookies" are these shortbread style cookies with chocolate in the center. It's like swimming in a chocolate pool surrounded by delicious cookie. Four in a pack which is just enough to enjoy the first one slowly, wolf down numbers two and three, then realize that there's only one left and so you'll eat this one extra slowly. Amazing cookies and I'd love to go and visit the facility! [Review 9963 overall, 1543 of 2018.]

Came here for the free cookie baking class offered every first Thursday of the month. Warehouse was hard to find, don't go alone. I got there a bit late as class was already midway through. There aren't much structure nor any specific steps for the course, all the cookies and piping bags are lined up on the table for everyone to make their own. You get to keep whatever you had made and take home in this boxed carton (pretty cool). Free cookie samples are along the wall; their signature butter cookie with milk chocolate tasted divine. Would do this again one day.

There is something very sweet breeding in the back streets of Gowanus and it has two names and speaks French....it's called Michel et Augustin! M&A is sweeping the packaged cookie game at all the specialty shops and Starbucks. I'm a baker and have high standards when it comes to making my products from scratch. The first time I had there shortbread squares topped with a chocolate sheet..I was hooked! I follow the small company that originated and has its headquarters in Lyon, France in all viral outlets, FB, Instagram and Twitter. And this is how I came to find out of there recent First THURSDAY open houses! Yeah. You heard right. We are all welcome to come on over, bake, play games, and leave with a bag full of cookies. I'm an over booker and showed up one day late. That didn't stop David, the only person still working late on a Friday to let me in and give me a tour of the company. I felt very special to see the NY branch that recently opened. They named this location the banana factory. I did not see said bananas but I did see boxes full of cookies and an adorable small kitchen. David told me about all the activities and insisted that I couldn't leave empty handed. He gave me a reusable tote bag with their label and tiny pictures of their products creating a cool pattern and filled with all these new treats I have yet to try. My mouth says thank you but my pants might not be so grateful... Merci David, Michel et Augustin! See you next month on the first THURSDAY for the bake on!

I came here for the baking class held every first Thursday of the month and it was super fun! They had a table with cookies (caramel, dark chocolate sea salt, hazelnut and another one I can't recall) they were super delish. They also served milk, orange juice, and water. Today we made shortbread cookies, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They had all the ingredients ready to go and we just prepared the dough and added the toppings (m&m's, sprinkles etc). On your way out they hand out a goodie bag. yay! Totally recommend these cookies .

My friend brought to this place for their monthly open house and I loved it. Fun, cute, free and yummy. You can try assorted kind of cookies, play games, join raffles, take pictures, mingle, make friends... what's not to like. They also offer free baking classes on Wednesdays. The open house is on the first Thursday on the month. Staff is super friendly and you get a goodie bag to take home and share with friends and family.

I came here for their open house after getting a flyer. They have an open house every first Thursday at 7pm at their headquarters which they call the Banana Farm. Once you're inside, they have samples of all their cookies and biscuits. Sometimes they have guest vendors which provide samples of their products too. Their cookies are high quality and delicious. They also have raffles for baking classes, games, and other contests. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. When you leave, you get a goodie bag with treats to bring home.

Was here on first thursday of Oktober 2018. Nice atmosphere, lots of cookies to try on site and bring home, cookies are quiet good. But there were ao many people, I think even they didn't expect it. Overcrowded, too much for this room, maybe 60-70 people. Only 10 were chosen for the culinary class, but you cannot even have a look at what they are doing as there are people all around you.

The all-inclusive beverages and…read morecomplimentary charcuterie were a really nice touch to start the evening, especially if you arrive hungry like I did. We started by learning how to make Chicken Marsala, then moved into pasta making (my favorite part). After that, we learned how to make fresh mozzarella, and finally ended the night with dessert: tiramisu. The entire experience was so fun and interactive. I especially appreciated how knowledgeable Chef Alex was about everything we were making. When I asked about the type of pan she was using and why, she gave such a detailed and thoughtful explanation, which I really appreciated. By then, we had definitely worked up an appetite! We started dinner with a delicious salad and focaccia bread, followed by pesto fettuccine made from the pasta we created ourselves. Then came Chicken Marsala with mushrooms, and ricotta-stuffed ravioli in red sauce, also handmade by us. One of the best parts of the night was the atmosphere. Cooking, eating, and learning alongside people you've never met before somehow felt so natural and welcoming. You genuinely leave feeling like you made new friends. If I had one honest critique, I do wish there had been more opportunity to personally season some of the dishes to taste, as I felt parts of the meal were a little bland for my preference. I also personally prefer softer pasta over a firmer al dente texture. That said, I completely understood why the pasta had that texture since we didn't have much time for the dough to fully rest and develop. I also think some light Italian jazz music playing in the background would have elevated the atmosphere even more and really taken the experience to another level. Overall, I had a wonderful time and would absolutely take another class. It's definitely worth it for the experience, the knowledge you gain, and of course... dinner! Also, we got home (with our left overs) and finally had the tiramisu... and WOW. It was soooo delicious. The ravioli and tiramisu were definitely the stars of the show for me!

overall pretty decent, the food is like others said a bit bland but overall not bad…read more teriyaki chicken bowl tasted a bit off to me, feels like they didn't use enough teriyaki or it was a watery sauce but it didn't have much flavor and the rice was disappointing. kind of those big, overly fluffy yet kinda dry grains, not really sushi grade or anything close which i usually prefer in dishes like this. same was true for the fried rice ball, which wasn't crispy or sticky. the fries were also pretty bland, but crispiness and cut were so good! just needs a bit more salt, bit more flavor. mint yuzu lemonade was DELICIOUS it's just sweet enough and just concentrated enough. very fresh and yummy 10/10 yuzu cheesecake was also pretty good, though the texture's more whipped than usual cheesecake and a bit grainy, which i assume comes from the yuzu. which it had more crust but still great! so yes overall not bad but i probably wouldn't get anything rice-reliant and adding salt helps a lot
