Came here with my best friend around Saturday lunchtime. The place was busy and lively but we got seated after a ~20 minute wait. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We both got the fried chicken sandwich which sounded great in theory but the brioche bun was drenched in the coleslaw which made it difficult to eat. It was an early rainy Saturday morning and my client, now friend, and I were exploring another new restaurant for us. Surprisingly it was not super busy when we arrived (early, rainy, Saturday). and we were seated immediately. The menu has so many interesting choices and if I had any complaints, which I don't, they serve you almost too much. I had the eggs (4) scrambled with sausage, blue cheese, mushrooms and it was delicious, just too much for me. I always love a bloody mary with a saturday, or sunday brunch and it was made just a tad too spicy for me. It was really tasty but just a little too hot for my personal taste. Everyone absolutely loved their food. Service was great. The flavor was amazing. My salad had so much topping it was ridiculous--it's usually lettuce heavy but I really got good flavor in every bite. Nice sized portions. My only complaint was that the roasted Brussels sprouts were soaking in oil. Very tasty but too oily--I could only eat the top layer. We got to Milkweed around 11:35am and were seated right away (really a 5 minute wait while a table was being cleaned). The server was prompt and efficient. We ordered the fish and chips DELICIOUS!!! It came out in less than 10 minutes, was hand battered, piping hot, juicy, perfectly cooked and superb!!!! The fries/chips were also perfect, super hot, crispy, not greasy and lightly salted with sea salt. I DON'T like over salted fried and these were perfect. I did not like the dipping mayo sauce whatsoever, but I requested malt vinegar and it was quickly provided . We also ordered a salad but took it to go because the fish and chips were too good, hot and juicy to not gorge ourselves on them first. To finish it off we had a gingerbread muffin, which was good but could have had a more molasses and ginger for my tastebuds. At 11:35 the restaurant was packed and a line was forming. Perfect breakfast experience with over the top quality and stellar service. The reviews are right about Milkweed! Family of four with two giant teenagers went for a Thursday morning breakfast. Prompt service, cold water for the table and pleasant casual dining room. My 17 year old son had already scoped out the Strawberry Nutella French Toast in his pre-trip research so I was glad we could accommodate. I ordered the salmon cakes with scrambled eggs and grits. Spicy and delicious salmon cakes, perfectly prepared grits. Other son had French toast and scrambled eggs with 3 meats and potatoes. Husband had the same but with over easy eggs. Decided to go here for a Saturday brunch since they had the Yelp waitlist open ahead of time to join. We had about an hour wait before checking in on time. When I arrived to check in I had to flag down a server to help because no one would stop to help the few of us that stepped inside. They have no host and honestly no one was that friendly. After checking in we still had to wait which wasn't more than 10 minutes. Again coming back inside I had to flag down another person to help seat us since I received the "your table is ready" text. Our waitress wasn't that nice and honestly looked annoyed that we were ordering or that she was there, not sure but could be either or both. If you want great service, don't go here. We ordered coffee and our meals. My coffee was great as a I added flavoring. My friend did too but hers was way too bitter and when she asked for a different flavor (again having to flag down someone because our waitress didn't come back until we were paying). Still bitter. We had the avocado toast and lemon poppyseed muffin. The muffin was warm and fluffy! So delicious. The avocado toast was the worst I've ever had. The avocado was spoiled and left the aftertaste in our mouths that only avocados can leave. There was no pico de gallo just tomatoes that weren't even close to fresh. The bacon, poached eggs, and home fries were the only redeeming factors. The steak and cheese scramble was alright. Lacked cheese, onions, and flavor, but again it was alright. Lastly we ordered the Dutch baby pancake. Couldn't have been happier with it! The best thing we ordered besides the lemon poppyseed muffin. The only two reasons I didn't go lower than a three star rating. Wouldn't go back, but the sweet things on the menu seem to be the best choices to order. read more

Great brunch spot but be warned as there is a long wait on weekends. Join the Yelp waitlist to reduce your wait. However, we still had a 30-45+ minute wait after the estimated Yelp sit down time. Yelp said a 11am sit down but we sat down around 11:40am. We came with a group of 4 on a Saturday. I ordered the salmon cakes, creamy lemoncello martini and Dutch baby pancake. I enjoyed the salmon cakes as the whole dish was flavorful. I would definitely recommend the creamy lemoncello martini as it was refreshing on a hot day. Very popular restaurant that serves all 3 meals plus cocktails. We lucked out getting there at 10:30 and getting seated right away. They do have a Yelp waitlist you can use if you want. Small venue with limited street parking along Parker St it f you're lucky. Seating indoors and outdoors. Staff were quick and hardworking. Our food came out quickly. Nobody offered to refill water or coffee. We ordered the Strawberry and Nutella French toast (5/5), the Spanish omelette (3/5), the grilled vegetable gyro (3/5), and two eggs sunny side up with bacon (4/5). I have been this place twice already and every time I got the same thing-- the Power bowl! Food: 8.5/10 Food here is fresh and yummy. I ordered the Milkweed burrito to go for a try and it was delicious! I got pulled pork but you can get chicken as well! Service: 9/10 I have all the best words for service here. My water was always filled up, and I never had to ask once. Everyone is super nice. Ambience + Locations: 8.5/10 The place is chill and casual. I got an iced coffee but had it in a to-go cup because I can't drink too much coffee in 1 sitting like that. Got the dutch baby pancakes and I need to come back for this. It sucks, that I can't leave a review for the actual location I visited today, but its all the same company. I have been to the location on Tremont St in Boston, although it is small, I had no complaints about service or the food. The new location that I visit today in Dorchester on Morrissey Blvd. I was very disappointed in the food and the service, the ambiance wasn't bad, it was more spacious than the other location. We were seated between 10:45 and 11am before the lunch crowd, I was looking forward to having a late breakfast. Well to sum it up, I had breakfast for lunch because by the time I received my food it was after 12 noon. We first were seating at a table that was extra rocky, as we found out from other patrons, that it was their problem as well, you just have to find a table that was less rocky. One patron said they just had their male partner level it by the partner keeping the weight on his side while eating. The waitress tried to assist and level the table by using napkins, but it didn't help, so we choose a different seat that was steady. Now we are seating at a steady table by our waitress, it took entirely too long for us to be served water and place our order, and no there wasn't a wait staff shortage. I received my food, as soon as I spread the butter on my french toast, I see a long piece of hair in my food, my partner summoned someone over to show them, they took my plate and now I have to wait longer for them to remake it, as my partner is trying not to be rude by eating, I told him to continue before his food gets cold. I will say I am glad they remade it vs, just taking the food back in the kitchen and removing the hair and bringing it back to me. The remade dish was missing cheese from my eggs which I noticed as the waitress was placing the food in front of me. I said there is no cheese on the eggs and before she decided to take the food back, I said it's ok, just make sure I am not charged for the cheese, but I was disappointed because of the no cheese. I had just asked for a glass of ice water. why did I have to not only wait over 15 minutes to get it but also summon someone over and ask again. I will not comment on the food too much, because I just think today wasn't meant for me to be there or my food choice was trash, but for the price of the food, I think they can do a little better with the home fries, and the bacon. The home fries was fried potatoe dices with uncooked scallions placed on top, no seasoning what so ever, and the bacon, lets say they need to cook it alot more than they did. We all know undercooked food is a risk, especially undercooked pork. My partner didn't complain about his dish, because he said for the most part it was good he just preferred his bacon cooked a lot more. We tried the ice coffee, it looked really good, but the taste wasn't for us, we definitely run on Dunkins... lol well upon finishing my remade breakfast for lunch, we received the check and of course cheese is on the check and I am being charged and extra $2 for cheese, I politely said can you remove the cheese because the remade order did not have cheese, she take the check back and goes to her station and comes back and says, although it says cheese, we didn't charge you for it, she definitely was trying to get over, but my partner politely let her know the item we ordered from the menu was $20 and she could look on the menu herself. She takes the check back goes back to the station and when she returns, the cheese is removed from the check and we are charged the correct price. Now my experience with the service and the food was so bad, I wasn't going to leave a tip, but I am not built like that so I left a small tip... $.09 shy of 15% which was decent compared to my experience. "There's no second chances when it comes to making first impressions, so it's best to get it right the first time." I will add although this is the 2nd day for the new location... It's a NO for me. I hope if you do try it, your experience is a much better experience than mine. read more

Brightly lit with modern tables and cute photos hanging around of colorful pancakes drizzled in syrup etc. Though notably there is no air conditioning (was dying from the heat in an unusually warm Boston summer). Was sweltering and humid with just an overhead fan that did not do much to cool the restaurant. Food wise, I really liked the salmon cakes! They came with very smooth cheesy grits, scrambled eggs, chopped tomatoes, and a delicious aioli. The eggs were a bit on the salty side but still very good. The tomatoes added a nice freshness. We also had the truffle fries which were covered with flakey Parmesan cheese. Others in my group ordered the turkey BLT (average), French toast (reportedly very good) and Brussels sprouts (I usually am not a fan of any Brussel sprout but everyone else thought they were roasted very well). Just okay. Went for brunch and it was packed so I was expecting really good brunch. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. The dishes were all good but not really worth the hour wait. The flavors were just average and not really comparable to other brunch places in Boston. I do have to commend Milkweed for their amazing atmosphere and beautifully presented food. It's definitely an instagrammable place. Sad that the flavors did not match the presentation. I would like to give this place another try just to give it the benefit of the doubt. Country Fried Chicken Sandwich - Toasted brioche bun, coleslaw, sliced empire apple, spiced pickle, ranch, fries. An absolute must-try! Milkweed met my expectations. Decent waitlist on a Sunday morning/afternoon. Seems to be a well know spot for the locals. If you're interested in getting on the waitlist, I recommend using the waitlist feature here on Yelp. Will cut your wait time down as you head to the restaurant. Staff was friendly and all suited in their chic, Milkweed branded uniforms (sweats or baseball jerseys). Seating available both inside and outside, my party opted for inside given the breezy fall afternoon. We were in the middle of the restaurant and I'm rather tall, I would have preferred a booth but I took what was available (a brother was hungry!) Very well organized menu separated by type of meal (breakfast, brunch, lunch/dinner, drinks/sweets). I had the shashuka (first time ever trying this dish) and they hit that nail on the head. I was afraid the tomato would have been too much but it was prepared with perfection! The sauce was nice and hot, peppers were fresh and crunch and the Challah bread with falafel was a savory delight. Also splurged on the steak and eggs and they just get it. Serving sizes were perfect for a party of 2 to share. Only had water and orange juice as we are practicing Sober October haha Can't wait to visit again! Started with a fantastic coconut tequila cocktail. Sprinkled with coconut around the rim, sweet flavor start to finish without the overpowering taste. The Powerbowl is a terrific salad loaded with quinoa, avocado, mixed greens, roasted beets, roasted sweet potato, candied pumpkin seeds, chick peas, dried cranberries, avocado-lime dressing. I'm not a huge lime dressing guy so had it on the side. Big fan of the salmon burger. Not to fishy tasting, It's panko breaded and fried salmon cake patty, sliced cucumber, chipotle dressed cole slaw, fries. Fries were excellent too. The ok meal was the falafel gyro. After spending some time at an art exhibit in Dorchester the hubs and I needed to find a place to grab a bit before hitting the Mass Pike for what would be come an epic traffic jam. Luckily - Yelp to the rescue! Parking can be a bit of a hassle (I know I'm in the city) but we were able to find side street parking that was not metered nor reserved for local residents - score! The vibe and the ambiance is pretty cute and cool. Exposed brick and an open kitchen welcomes diners who pass through Milkweed's doors. They offer breakfast and lunch throughout the day (until I think 4pm) and then a dinner menu. A variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages are also offered. Since it was mid afternoon we both ordered from the lunch menu. If it's on the menu I always order the Cubano and the hubs usually gravitates toward a burger. Both offerings also came with fries BUT I spied Sweet Potato Crinkles and it was a no brainer that those would be my side! The sandwich was perfectly pressed and the fries were fresh from the fryer and well seasoned. Although there was a bit to much cheese on the sandwich for me, I loved that this sandwich had pulled pork as it's "pork" component. Travelled all the way from Hull Massachusetts area for breakfast. To put it short, it was worth the 45 minute drive and we loved the name of the place. We were lucky to come here on a Friday morning when most brunch goers come out of hiding on the weekends. Technically only breakfast is served on weekdays and brunch is for the weekends, but still the same dishes. The place is cute and cozy. Definitely small and can be a long wait on a busy day. We were easily seated and two servers came to us. Very professional and made sure we were comfortable with the experience. The menu was in tabs format dividing up the sections: breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Spot for details, love that. The lemon ricotta pancakes were fluffy and tingly with deliciousness. The shakshuka was rich in tomato marinara and runny poached eggs in the center. The falafel was a nice touch and crisp to the core. The shrimp and grits was soft and rich in flavor.
