*Shameful service leaving two 90+yr olds without a Christmas dinner* We called Milestones at the Boardwalk first, detailing our wish to have a nice steak dinner delivered to two nonagenarians (as a treat for them from the bland Meals on Wheels dinners, they usually get). We live out of town and could not deliver ourselves. They told us to pre-order with Skip The Dishes. We filled out the online form with 'Skip' on December 22nd, with a 4:45 to 5:15 pm delivery window. Gave explicit detailed instructions for delivery including their phone number for building access, reference to them being elderly and added a good tip. Total bill was $135.90 We rec'd a phone call from the Skip driver at 8:15 pm on the 24th. Saying he could not get them to answer their phone to let him in. Well guess why? That was 3 hours later than the pre-determined delivery window. He then told us he had just received the delivery notice from Milestones 20 minutes earlier!! Huh?? Well, by that time they had eaten a self-prepared simple meal and the woman had gone to bed. The man was on his way to bed. We started calling their apartment ourselves, and finally the 93-year old man buzzed the driver in. He was pretty upset and disappointed. Too late to try and eat it, he had a peak at the food and was surprised to see such a small offering of food. The "mixed grill" of vegetables was according to him - a raw carrot and a couple of peas. He told us that he would have to make a side dish himself in order to make the meal enough to eat. When they attempted to eat the dinner the next day described the steak as "black" on the outside and "raw" on the inside, and incredibly tough to chew. Over the next 3 days, we tried to call Milestones and speak to the manager "Gavin". We were repeatedly assured he would call us "the next day". On the 3rd day, we spoke to someone identifying himself as the head cook, and he told us to call 'Skip', but that he would still have Gavin call on the 27th. Surprise, surprise - no call. An online chat with a 'Skip' employee (Nicole B.) resulted in many apologies and a whopping refund of $57.00. I was repeatedly told by Nicole that Skip's company policy did not allow her to give back a full refund. And only food costs are covered. I asked to escalate to Admin, and she ended the chat window. And we just finally got through to a managerial assistant at Milestones, who denies any responsiblity (even for the poor quality of the food) blaming it all on 'Skip'. Kept telling us to call them. I kept telling her we had. And reminded her that it was Milestones who told us to use 'Skip' in the first place. Bah Humbug both to Milestones and to Skip the Dishes. read more

Just left Milestones at the Boardwalk. We made reservations around 5:15 pm and there were 15 of us in the group. We were advised that a 20% tip would be automatically apply, which we understand. We were seated for about 10 minutes before the waitress arrived and provided us with water. Another 15-20 minutes before the waitress returned to take our drink orders and another 15-20 minutes before the drinks arrived. Another 20 minutes and the waitress arrived to take our food order. The food came in a reasonable timeframe with one order mix-up, but it was cleared up with no issues. We only had one waitress for 15 people and we believe this contributed to the long delays in between, seating, water, bar drinks, ordering food and finally the bill (which we finally had to go ask for). While as mentioned above, we understood the 20% tip would be automatically added to the bill, we were surprised that the tip was added to the after tax bill! My understanding is that the tip is added BEFORE taxes. The ladies washroom had four toilets that were not flushing and the only functioning toilet was the handicap one. I'm not sure anyone was aware of this as it appeared there was no one in the bar area to report this problem. Finally, the waitress was very pleasant and accommodating. I had a good time here and I would like to share it. First time we went there it was for lunch or dinner and the food was good and I really liked it. The Staff are really nice and the service is great. Once in a while the staff come and ask us how we like the food and if we're ok. The environment is clean and there's usually always an open seat for a family! I loved my experience at Milestones and keep coming back to it! I will always remember the good times as a family you can have there! This place deserves it's 5 Stars! read more

I had a great experience eating here for a Tuesday dinner before going to see the movies. The restaurant is within a few minutes walk to the Landmark theatre so it's really convenient. We got a reservation beforehand and we were promptly escorted to our booth when we arrived. It didn't seem to be really busy for a Tuesday night so you can easily walk in and get a table right away. Environment: I have never been to a Milestones restaurant so I didn't have any expectation of how the decor should be, but I think the dining environment is really nice for hanging out with friends, or in my case, a date night. The restaurant seems to be newly renovated and it definitely tries to cater to a higher end customer base, as the patrons here were mostly older families or young professionals. Food: We noticed at the counter that they offer a free appetizer for CAA member with the purchase of food over $25, and we couldn't pass on such a good deal. There is a limit of $15 for the free appetizer, however, but most of the items on the menu is within that amount. We got the coconut calamari and it tasted really good and it was really crispy on the outside. The coconut batter definitely enhanced the taste of the calamari. We ordered their signature Berlini and it tasted amazing! It looked really cute, exactly like what you see on the picture. For main, we got the Cajun Shrimp Creole ($25.50) and the Surf & Turf Sirloin ($35.50). While looking at the menu, I was recently delighted to see that they have quite a wide arrange of dishes, and there are choices outside of your typical Canadian-cuisine restaurant. Both dishes tasted great, the shrimp tasted fresh and had good flavours, while the steak came out medium rare as requested. Overall, it was definitely a good meal, especially considering that I don't dine at chained restaurants very often. June 28th - 7:30pm, Party of 8. Should of known, When 7ppl received their drinks and I had to remind them about mine. What I was in for. Ordered Steak Frites (Medium Well) let's just say if the steak could of moo'd it would of. Goes back to be cooked as per requested. By the time it came back the other 7 where almost done. Waitress asked me to cut it to make sure and I kid you not still not MEDIUM WELL. At this point I was done, I told the waitress to take it. Yes they tried to make it right, however after 2 fails I was not investing anymore into this dining experience. I have solace in knowing I will not be returning. I'm only posting as I'm very unhappy. Had a reservation and were seated right away. Waitress was nice but we felt she might be new. Drinks and apps came out and were good. We had bruschetta, 2 orders of fish tacos and Thai chili chicken bites between 8 of us. Entree orders were taken and the app dishes and plates weren't taken off the table until the entrees were delivered. The employee who brought them seemed a bit perturbed that they were still there. My son and I both ordered the surf and turf, and his wasn't very warm, and everything on my plate was cold. Steak was done perfect to my liking. Son was too hungry and ate his, but I sent mine back. When it came back everything was hot, but steak was a done a bit more. When we finished our entrees we sat for 15-20 minutes until the waitress came back for our dessert orders. On the whole the food was good, service was slow, and our chairs, which were all Naugahyde or faux leather, were all peeling with sections missing. Not very nice looking. Bill came to $450 before tip ( included 2 children's meals, and only two bar drinks), I expect a little better for that amount. I never thought I'd review a restaurant in Waterloo, but I had an incredible experience at this Milestone's, and really want to share it. My family and I came here for dinner right after I had graduated from UW. We made a reservation for 6 people for 7pm literally an hour and a half beforehand. Despite the short notice, we were seated promptly and at a spacious table in the corner of the restaurant that felt like a private room!We especially appreciated that we were never rushed by the server. Also, since we were celebrating my graduation, the server surprised us with a free dessert with a candle in it at the end of the meal. All in all, the food was tasty, but it was the high quality of service that made my experience here so incredible. There was no better place that I could have gone to with my family for a post-graduation dinner. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my seafood steak. It was a perfect medium rare, the portion was very good, and the mashed potatoes was absolutely delicious. It did take a while for the food to come out though. I believe we waited for about 35 to 40 minutes. However due to the current circumstances it's completely understandable. They may have been understaffed. This seems to be your typical date night/friend get together kind of place cuz damn, the place was PACKED on the Saturday night when I came. The wait was about ~45 mins but hey, it was totally my fault for not making a reservation. It's has quite a bit of seating but I think there were only two or three servers that night. So, understandably, service was bit slow but food didn't disappoint! For an appetizer, I got the spinach and artichoke dip. I usually prefer having pita to dip with but it was just as good with crunchy tortilla chips! For my main I got the brie and mushroom melt burger. I LOVE portobello mushrooms in my burgers, so this hit the spot. It got a bit messy as I was eating but it was definitely worth it. I didn't get dessert this time around, but on my previous visits they were really good! Definitely recommend this place for a date night or going out with friends but if you can, try to avoid busy weekend days! read more

4 of us had dinner there Sunday and my friend had the cold tuna and that was good but all the meals were cold. The steak sandwich was cold with old bread. The sweet chilly chicken bowl spicy but cold as well and the fish my wife had was cold. The waitress did ask us how everything was tastings but that was before we took a bite. She was very fast to check but then did not come around for 10mon We dicided not to complaint till after we paid the bill because we were not after free food and did not have time to sit around waiting for them to make 3 new meals. Milestones is a place where our family has had many good meals over the last few years. A chain, but better than average. Today was not their best day. I typically would expect to give them 4-5 stars. This visit was 3-4 at best. On average I guess they deserve a 4. The meal started with the waiter informing us that they were "out of prime rib early tonight" when 4 of the 5 people at our table wanted to order it. It took a while, but we did all find alternatives. My pesto chicken penne with asiago was good, but not the prime rib I was craving. The sauce was a bit bland and required more pepper and salt than I think it should have to give it a bit of zest. Our server was pleasant but could have been more attentive given the small crowd on a Monday night. Three of the people didn't want any alcohol and were only drinking water, but he didn't offer to refill our water during the meal. We went here for a nice lunch and were not disappointed. Hats off to Josh our server - who was super nice and had a sense of humour. My sister was not in a very good mood and he managed to make her smile. I ordered the Mediterranean chicken; we shared a salad and everything was very good including the Caesar beverage I had. The lobster sliders were forgettable and I would not recommend them for the price. Overall - a good experience, however I personally find prices at Milestones restaurants expensive. read more

Great Wednesday Night Date! Had a great time tonight at Milestones! The food was superb, service was perfect and attentive and the atmosphere was perfect for our 9:15 arrival time! I ordered the Roasted Garlic Caesar to start - It was a great appetizer and was a great portion size for myself. I had the Caprese Crispy Chicken Sandwich as my main course while my girlfriend had the Seafood Pasta. Both were delicious and weren't oversized by any means while also being appropriately priced for the location. The Gonache Torte was our dessert and it was a very thick and rich dark chocolate and would recommend it as a dessert for 2. The service was great - our waiter was attentive, funny, kind and overall didn't miss a beat! Possibly some of the best service we've both ever had. If you're looking for somewhere to eat out, you don't have to look any further than this Milestones. Forget all the fancy dishes and restaurants nearby, this place knows what's good. We started off with absolutely no wait, but we found a bit of spilled food under our table and we asked to have it cleaned up. The hostess was very apologetic and kind about it, making us feel comfortable while waiting. After about two minutes it was all cleaned up and we were greeted by our very friendly and helpful server. Service here is amazing! Our server took time to make conversation with us and helped us find items we liked on the menu. No very long waits and honestly, we wouldn't have minded because of the great atmosphere and friendly servers. Again, the food came without a long wait and it was all decorated very nicely. Presentation was above and beyond; it all looked very appetizing. I had the garden burger and I must say it was honestly the best veggie burger I have ever had. Nice selection of toppings and very light on the stomach. Everyone else I was dining with also enjoyed their meals profusely, including the rich selection of deserts. Milestones is very dicy mostly due to the fact that the dishes can go either ways. My 4th visit proved to be very optimistic, the dishes we selected were just awesome. We will surely stick to the same dishes till Milestones take them out. Coconut calamari for starters, spicy chicken shrimp pasta and prime rib sandwich for mains. Each of them tasted really good. The 4 stars is only because of the slow service considering the restaurant was quite empty. Finally I can say I will visit Milestones again. read more

I really like this location, and it's great for a girls night out. The decor is tasteful, the music is ambient, but not so loud where I can't my girlfriends talk. We usually meet at the bar area, which has plenty of seating for smaller groups. One of my favourite aspects about Milestones is the crowd is the maturity level. Most of the crowd is 30+ well-dressed, and very respectful. In fact, last Thursday Tony Stark, or his exact look alike, help the door open for me and my girlfriend and said, "Enjoy your night." I guess he's thinking of buying Blackberry, lol. Menu wise, it's what you'd expect from an upscale Franchise. It's predictably good, but not mind-blowing. I usually stick with their California Spring, or Seafood Salad - both have been consistently good. Same with the wine selection, it's good, but not breath-taking. I do really like their lime Mojito's! Service has always been great - never had a problem. Always polite, attentive, and keep the table free of dishes. If you're looking for a somewhat upscale experience with a mature crowd, and good food Milestones Boardwalk is a great choice. If you own a start-up, and are looking to get fully funded, word is Tony Stark is now a regular, lol. read more

They said they didn't but then they made something specific for her that resembled a poutine. It went above and beyond what a restaurant should do. We were pretty impressed. Stopped yesterday for a drink after shopping and wanted to check the place out for future possible dining. We waited and waited for our drinks. It was a Friday afternoon and was not busy at the time of our arrival. We had to order our drinks twice as it seemed the first order was lost somehow. Not a good first impression. The waitress said she would make it up to us regarding the very poor service,not sure what she meant but she did not live up to her word. My next beer came quickly but did have to ask for service; she did not come on her own. By the time we left the restaurant was busy and very noisy. I read the menus and was impressed with the pricing and choices from pastas to steak to gluten free. Most entrees were under $20. The decor was upscale and trendy with comfortable seating. I go to Milestones a couple times a year, usually when my family has something to celebrate. I love the environment there, modern and sophisticated without being unapproachable. All the staff look great and are friendly and helpful. During my most recent visit I had the border run chicken and the Milestones margarita. Both were really delicious! Sadly the fourth best option of the Cara food conglomerates monopoly of restaurants on Ira Needles. Surprising part is that it is behind Harvey's , Swiss chalet and Montana's. I came here for dinner tonight and it was very nice. Our waitress was attentive and made sure everything came out well. She was very communicative and good with recommendations. I haven't been to Milestones in awhile and the funny thing is, it is actually one of my favorite franchises, to dine at for food. I had the pineapple salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and a ceaser salad with a peach Bellini and supreme fries (taco fries). I also had the white cheesecake and it was very good, I enjoyed it. I also had the Moscow Mule.. I believe that's what it is called.. if you Love ginger.. you will definitely like this drink.. for people that do not like ginger, I do not recommend it, because it's like taking a bite out of fresh ginger! It is refreshing but strong! I recommend this location. I enjoyed the good amd customer service. My salmon was cooked very moist.. I probably would of liked it a bit more well done, but no complains.. the food was delicious and the supreme fries were Delicious.. the ground beef was a bit to salty but I love salt, so I won't complain there because the food was very flavorful and tasty. This place is alright..only got food poisoned once at another location from being served chicken the way you purchase it at the grocery store (pink jelly). Our overall dining experience was satisfactory. Our food and beverages were great. They worked hard to find options for people in our party who had food sensitivities. Our waitress was great at the table...helpful, knowledgeable and informative. The pacing of our meal was awful. It took a long time to order, get drinks, get apps, and the main course. Our waitress apologized and said they were busy. After being told this, surprisingly, numerous empty tables were noticed on a trip to the bathroom. They need to do better in this regard. I have been to this location before and been very pleased with all aspects of the evening. I look forward to a return to the "norm" on my next visit. read more

My husband and I were here for valentines day, what a nightmare! I don't know if it was the waitress or just the fact that we were not " allowed" to order off the actual menu. The menu for valentines day was a set menu. This we did not know. We were told here is the selection and that is it. Of you want to order off the real menu you can walk over to the bar and see if there are any available seats. That's it. It took my husband to plead with the waitress to ask the manager if we could order different apps, than what was on the specified menu. Finally able to do so, ordered apps. Ten minutes into eating apps, our entries were shoved on to our table and the waitress walked away. Told waitress to take entres away so we could finish our apps. When finished our so called 40 dollar steaks came and were tough as shoes, I think they used the same steaks. Long story even longer, had to send steaks back twice. Would not recommend for a romantic valentines day dinner AT ALL!!!!! It felt like a fast food restaurant, they were trying to have at least three turnovers that evening. Where do I start? Well ... the wine was good. They got us the wrong wine, but luckily it was still good. Appetizers were not very appetizing, but the waitress was kind and tentative. It really went downhill when my brother (whose birthday we were celebrating) and I got our entrées and it looked like one of those Hungry Man frozen dinners (that probably would have been better). Not kidding here, I think they drizzled some oil on the carrots and green beans and pushed them through the door. To top it off, the menu clearly says top Sirloin with Shrimp and Crap in a Lobster sauce but there was no sign of ANY crab on that dish. I was told "it's in the sauce" and I didn't buy that at all, I showed them what the menu clearly says and they agreed so the manager brought out some extra crab. I was pleased that they would go through the trouble to please a customer until he brought out this flaky and oily substance that he claimed was crab. It smelt like something my dog wouldn't even eat and it looked worse than my morning dump. The manager did try to refire the meal, but bringing out another plate of crap will still taste like crap no matter how many times you try it. It was clearly misrepresentation of the meal and it ruined our evening celebrating a family birthday. Worst impression of Milestones and I wouldn't recommend this location or chain to anybody ... unless you like eating over-rated and over-priced food that tastes like it came out of a dented can from Wal-Mart. read more

We had had to bad experiences here before and after the last one the manager at that time asked us to come back and that he would cover the meal for the 4 of us. Well lets just say they sure do not know how to convince someone that they should come back. Our last experience was to say the worst we have ever had. We booked reservations for 6pm. We arrived and were seated. I presented the fron desk with the letter we had from the previous manager told them to let the current manager know we were here. We ordered our drinks and then waited over 30mins for the drinks to arrive. The waitres was fantastic she did her job to perfection. We then go to order our meal. They had prime rib special (while quantities last) and apptezier and desert all on a special menue. Well lets see they had no prime rib left and guess what they were also our of the ice cream desert. How do you run out of ice cream. But then this is not the first time we have had this scenerio on the specials. Forgot one thin when we did get our drinks they had mixed them up. My wife ordered a Ceasor no tobassco and my friend and I ordered ours spicy. Hmm they screwed that up as well they her a spicy one and my friend got the none spicy. Meal is ordered and still we have not spoken with the manager. You would think that since this is their time to shine that he would have come to our table right at the beginning. Anyway long story short we got our meal, the steak was done right but very chewy. The manager finally did stop after my wife saw him coming buy our table and asked if he was Andrew. He said he was and then he finally spoke with us. He had no clue that we were the 4 who were to be looked after top notch obiously the General Manage who called me earlier in the week did not relay the info to Andrew. We are compelety disgusted with how this restuarant is and will never come back. As they say three stikes your out. Oh yea we got gift certificates from the manager guess we will have to try another location and hopefully have a better experience. read more
