    Vanilla Cheesecake ($10)
    Allison C.

This is probably our go-to spot for date night. Service is always great, the dynamic pricing was really nice (but I'm not sure if they do that anymore), and the food is awesome. My boyfriend loves the truffle Mac n cheese with chicken and I usually go for whatever pasta dish is on the menu that I'm never let down by. The cheesecake though is probably my favourite thing here. Light and creamy but not too sweet, it's the only dessert that I can make room for after a great meal!

They have like only 4 main courses to choose, very limited options. Good place to drink but not ideal for having a nice dinner. Besides, the prices for the food and the alcohol are high but the service is amazing to be honest

Moroccan half rack of lamb with roasted potatoes and seasonal veggies
    Helen S.

To be honest, everyone else in my group hated their dish. Mine on the other hand was superb! I got the Moroccan lamb with roasted potatoes (to die for) and assorted veggies. The meat was perfectly cooked and the portion size was good! We also got the risotto balls and escargot tower to share. The better of the two was also the more expensive but also the most worth it. The escargot tower was 11$ and was actually pretty interesting and tasty but isnt much of a tower (only consisted of two stacks). One word for the risotto balls: bland. Disappointing. The ambiance inside the restaurant is what you should really try to go to King Street Trio to experience, its a mix of chic and classic. The staff was really accommodating and provided the birthday girl with a surprise dessert. However it wasnt much of a surprise as they inquired whose birthday it was at the beginning..

    Salmon with green potatoes
    Lisa A.

Visited this place yesterday. Upscale type of ambience which is nice. I also thought it was weird that the greeter mentioned where the bathrooms are (like he knew I'm gonna need it right after the meal) I had Salmon with green potatoes (mixed with peas?!?), my bf had staffed pork or something. We also had calamari appetizer that was OK, not crunchy enough to be good. As for my bf meal- he said meat was pretty tasteless (remember that it's $30 a plate), my salmon was OK as well, but later that evening after we left the restaurant I had diarrhea and really bad stomach ache!! Plus: they also fooled us on the bill: on the menus it said they apply 30% discount on Mondays for the entire food bill, but they actually didn't do that! Never coming back and telling everyone I know not to eat at this place!

    12oz ribeye

I came here with a girlfriend for dinner one night. We arrived shortly after it opened, and were the only ones in the restaurant. The atmosphere and decor is really lovely and our waitress was quite friendly. It took about 20 minutes for bread to be served, which we thought was a bit of a long wait considering there was no other customers. The entrees came relatively quick after the bread. I ordered the rib-eye medium rare, and the cook was okay on the meat and the seasoning was good. However, there was a thick strip of fat on one edge that was still partially raw, which I ended up cutting off. That was disappointing because I love a good strip of melt-in-your mouth fat on my steaks. My friend had the seafood paella which was pretty lackluster -- the rice was a bit soggy, not at all the way paella rice should be, and it was fairly bland. The plates also weren't warmed, so our food cooled very quickly. I was about 1/4 of the way through the steak before the rest got cold. The food was fine, good even, but really did not live up to it's price tag. In a city where good entrees can be found for 15-20$, we were really expecting something extraordinary for 30$, which King's Street Trio definitely did not serve up.

Feature Salmon Fillet - avocado lime sauce, roasted red peppers and tomatoes, crispy fried onions ($28)
    Felicia Y.

This place is lovely in every way, from the service to the decor to the food! Me and my boyfriend usually don't go to fancy restaurants but it was our monthiversary so we decided to class it up. The restaurant has an open concept kitchen and a cozy, romantic dining room area. My boyfriend ordered the feature salmon fillet which was served with fried onions, avocado lime sauce, roasted red peppers and tomatoes. I had trouble deciding between the zucchini linguini, rainbow trout and seafood paella. Our waitress helped me make up my mind when she said the rainbow trout came with lots of food and that it was her favorite. Before our entrees arrived, our waitress came with a plate of of fresh BREAD!!! It was served with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a tomato chutney. I am easily excited by bread and this bread definitely hit the spot! It was so soft and warm and the dipping sauce was perfect! Our meals came shortly after and we were both very impressed by the presentation and portion size! My boyfriend loved his salmon, he said that every bite of it was a slightly different experience when paired with the various flavors on the plate. My rainbow trout was served on a bed of fingerling potatoes, green beans, bacon, and diced tomatoes in an asiago cheese sauce. It was so flavorful and delicious! The sauce was cheesy and creamy but not overwhelming, it complimented the fish very nicely! My boyfriend and I were both very content with our meals and enjoyed it from beginning to the end. If you're looking for a place to celebrate any life occasion - big or small, I would highly recommend King Street Trio!

Storefront of King Street Trio Uptown...
    Vincent P.

It pains me to give King Street Trio's Uptown location 4 stars instead of 5. It really does. I've been to the two previous incarnations of this restaurant (when it was Downtown in Kitchener and when it was on University in Waterloo) and although I was excited to come for dinner with my wife to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, I have to say in the end I was a bit disappointed... because the details matter. We were the first customers in the restaurant for the evening for dinner. We had made our reservations on OpenTable and we made a change from Saturday to Friday night due to a change in my family's plans. The change was easily made on my iPhone app and we had no issues with the reservations. The restaurant, however, was quite cold when we arrived (although it did get warmer as the evening went on and there were more customers), and the window seat the the coldest of all. We really liked the idea of a window seat so that we could look across at the skating in the public square, but in the end, the seats closest to the window were just too cold. After that, it took some time to get service. Our server seemed distracted, even though for the nearly the first half hour we were there, the restaurant was completely empty of customers besides ourselves. The food was great. For starers, we ordered the Seared Sea Scallops to share and my wife had a salad while I had the chicken chowder. All the appetizers came at once. For our mains, my wife ordered the Chicken Alfredo and I ordered the Earth and Ocean. I got my dish, and my wife had the wrong order. No apology was given, just a "that doesn't look like the Alfredo" and it was scurried away. After waiting for a few awkward minutes, I eventually started my meal first (my wife insisted, since it was cold in the restaurant and she didn't want my food to get cold). I was mostly done my entree by the time the Alfredo appeared. Again, no apology for the mix-up, and the server was off again. We did split a Chocolate Mousse Cake for dessert, and it was delicious. However, I take this time to note that I was more impressed at the dishes I received at the King Crab Oyster Bar and Grill (sister restaurant to King Street Trio). To be fair, if I was to give King Crab 5 stars, then King Street Trio would only get four stars. I thought that the food, although it was great, it did not taste as good as the food at the sister restaurant. Again, the small details make the difference. The restaurant is beautiful, a century-old building that has been spectacularly renovated. And it is a shame because I think it could be a 5-star place, if there was only a bit more attention to the details.

    Risotto balls as an app
    Andrew L.

Came here for a private event. Quite an intimate setting and service was formidable. Had the risotto balls as an appetizer. Very tasty with a gooey cheese on the inside and sprinkles of cheese on the outside mixed with a tasty tomato sauce. Quite filling too for an app but definitely worth trying. The salmon for the entree was delicious. The skin was infused into the salmon and there was a right blend of herbs. Was not a fan of the mashed peas - tasted weird. Dessert was creme brûlée with a crepe on the side. The crepe stole the show. It was a little tough but was flavourful when mixed with the cranberry sauce and whipped cream. The creme brûlée was a bit too sweet and tasted ordinary.

    Red Beet Risotto
    Greg A.

I'm glad this restaurant was brought to my attention. I hadn't noticed it tucked in right beside the train tracks in Uptown Waterloo. We had a fairly large group (11) on a Wednesday night. We had reservations for 15 but had a few no shows. The staff were very accommodating and didn't pressure us to order since we were waiting a little longer in case the others showed up. I must say there were not many vegetarian options on the dinner menu, which I expected, given it's a steakhouse. Thankfully, their one vegetarian entree was Red Beet Risotto, served with wilted baby spinach and manchego cheese. I was fairly keen on trying this and I wasn't disappointed. Everything in the dish went so well together. One funny remark was that since it was snowy outside, immediately when we walled in the door, the manager came up to us and politely told us to try *really hard" to dry our feet on the mat. He was very concerned about people slipping on wet floors. He did this with every other guest who came in as well. The same man also reassured us when it seemed as if a tiny earthquake was happening, "don't worry it's only the train." Overall I was very happy with this restaurant and would gladly come here again with my carnivorous friends.

    Escargot tower
    Caitlyn S.

Went here for my anniversary dinner, and it was a pleasant surprise. The service was good, very detail oriented (explained the menu to us very thoroughly). I found the food good. After ordering we got complementary bread with an oil dip which was average. We got the escargot tower to start; it was very cute and creative although it wasn't much of a tower. Escargot were cooked well, nice and soft; not overdone at all. For the main I got a half rack of lamb which is pretty inexpensive ($28.00) compared to steakhouse prices. It was a very delightful taste of my palette. My boyfriend got the deep fried cod/fish and chips. The taste was good but the batter was a little hard. Overall I'd say I had good experience and we had a 20% discount on Wednesday! (the have discounts monday - thursday)

This restaurant is unique for its serving style - if you order individual seafood, you eat with your hands from plastic bags. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that we were able to keep ourselves relatively clean. We ordered a pound of mussels with garlic sauce, crawfish with lemon pepper sauce, and a fish teriyaki dish with seafood assortment. I loved the garlic sauce, as it gave the mussels a great kick. I wouldn't recommend the crawfish, as they don't have much meat. I felt like I was just nibbling the shells for the sauce. However, the fish teriyaki was a solid choice. Overall, it was a filling and tasty meal, and it came out to less than $20 per person. With so few customers in the restaurant, service was relatively prompt, but I would recommend more frequent water refills, as the sauces were quite salty. We had to personally wave over the waitress in order to get water. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend Captain's Boil if you enjoy seafood like I do. Glad they opened up in London!

They have done a nice job sprucing things up a bit and revamping the kitchen. Hope to see the red carpet in the dining room go at some point. A bit under staffed as they get on their feet a lot of work for one person at front of house to manage, quite a long wait for walk ins due to covid restrictions on the dining room. Definitely call ahead for a reservation. Staff was friendly and polite took our order correctly. Our meals where pretty good! We got two orders of the Fisherman's platter. One with fries and one with a Ceasar salad. Breading on the fish was light the halibut was a nice large piece! Cooked perfectly nice and flakey not greasy at all. The scallops and shrimp where cooked well too. Chips where fresh and light. The Ceasar salad was not worth the 3.50$ dollars for the upgrade. They just tossed two strips of bacon with it. No croutons, red onion or even parmasean. Was also dissapointed that they didn't do a home made tartar sauce and also no lemon provided with the fish. At first I was excited to see the paper in the take out bag! Then realized they wrapped the take out box in paper. Hopefully they will cut back on the waste and just wrap the fish in that beautiful paper moving forward. Would really love to see this place stick to fish and chips and sea food options and perfect their sides. Would love to see more fish and seafood meals and stay away from the burgers etc and really specialize on the seafood. There's plenty of wing and burger family restaurants and I think they could really make a go of it if they keep it simple, fresh and refined! Found it a bit pricey but overall enjoyed out meals great piece of fish! This cost us 70$ with tax.

There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button.
