Dinner was excellent tonight at Moxies! Went for a birthday and they treated us well. Our server Devon always made sure we were well taken care of. It was a quiet night and we had the section to ourselves: comfy booth and nearby electric fireplace. The menu is extensive for both adults and children, which is wonderful. The kids' dessert is my son's favorite by far! Ice cream sundae in a bowl atop dry ice which creates a steamy 'volcano' effect. Such a wonderful treat! The only drawback of course is the price tag. I completely understand paying for a well cooked meal and lovely environment, but the prices are still higher than what you would expect in Kitchener. Thirty-six for a sirloin, twenty-four for a chicken salad, thirteen for a mojito, and four-fifty for a soda (come on, syrup and soda water should not cost that much!). The kids meal was thirteen but the dessert is amazing, so I won't fault that, but they charged two dollars to give him an extra piece of bread. I was in Kitchener for a few nights on business and i didnt have a yelp account until now, but the service from Yvonne was so good i wanted to write a quick review. She was incredibly attentive to the table, did a fantastic job of explaining the menu and specials. Its rare to have good service when i travel but she was an exception! Nice, quiet and intimate space. Really nice server and good presentation of food! Main complaint is the price....it's about $3 too much over each item on the menu. However, as I gripe about the price...each person at the table just commented on how delicious their meals are.... okay...maybe worth it?..! Gave Bartender big tip because if Xmas .. not For the service , didn't even get a thanks .. wasn't looking for one but person seemed indifferent... We have been coming to this location in large groups for business meetings for a long time and they have always been accommodating. Even during phase 3 of Ontario reopening. The staff are very nice and helpful. I have tried "Chimichurri Steak Salad", "Nachos", "Loaded Cheeseburger" and "Beef Dip" and all of them had good quality and tasted really good. My boyfriend and I went to see a movie at the Cineplex VIP for my birthday. When the movie was over, it was just past 3 pm. We were both hungry. I looked across the parking lot and saw Moxie's. I admired the beautiful wine bottles displayed beautifully in front of us. A server came over. We got to choose where we wanted to sit. We chose a booth that would typically seat six people. Instead, we sat next to each other. The ambiance is cozy, a bit dark, and comfortable. It was perfect, as we were holding hands and being all lovey-dovey. Sorry if I'm making your eyes roll, but it was nice. The heatwave as of late has not made me eat as much as I typically do. Instead, I have been eating lighter meals. I went with the lemon basil salmon. The salmon is cooked medium rare by default, which I don't mind. It comes with ancient grains (it's like wild rice, but better), sauteed spinach, broccoli, a grilled lemon, all in a lemon basil sauce. The dish was amazingly delicious. The salmon was flavourful, flaky, and grilled perfectly. I loved the ancient grains. It was a nice alternative to regular fluffy rice. The lemon basil sauce was delightful. The lemon and basil worked well together, and immediately brightened everything. I squeezed the grilled lemon all over everything. As a lemon freak, I was a happy camper. My boyfriend got the burger. The burger. Yep, that's its formal name. It had a cute little pickle skewered through the top of the bun. It came with fries. He loves a good burger. He wolfed it down in what seemed to be record time. The beef was flavourful and juicy. He enjoyed the bun that was lightly toasted. He also inhaled the fries, occasionally coming up for air to dip them in ketchup. We both had Diet Pepsi. You get free refills. We had a wonderful dining experience here. You pay a bit more here ($25 for my salmon dish and $15 for his burger combo), but the food was yummy to us that it was fine. I'd come back here again. I love the desserts at Moxie's. No surprises at this franchise. High energy atmosphere and attractive staff. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the super sized local pints and then steak dinners. Steaks were of high quality and cooked properly. Better than my Keg dinner the previous night in Cambridge. No real complaints to speak of. read more

My parents came to visit me for the weekend and they decided to take me out for lunch (yay). We ended up at this Moxie's in Kitchener and if you've been to this chain before nothing will stand out to you. We got the calamari to start and it was really good. The sweet and sour sauce that comes with it is one of the best sauces. For mains, my dad and I got the ribs and my mom got the miso ramen. The ramen really is mediocre at best. If you're looking for ramen this really isn't the place to eat. The broth is very bland and the rest of the dish just tastes like green onions. The ribs are not as tender as you would imagine. The sauce is good but the rib quality seems like it's frozen (though I'm not entirely sure). For dessert we had the brownie which is delicious. To start, the service was great our server was super friendly and was joking around with us when she would come by, that brings me to my next point she wasn't over doing it with the check in's which is something that I always notice. Next the ambience, it was very loud and the layout was a little weird but overall not terrible. Now the food, I got the chicken tenders which they themselves were not terrible but the fries were way too salty like so salty I didn't even eat them. The other two people i was with also said they're meals were overly salty and not the best, especially for the price. Overall i would not recommend this restaurant. read more

I've got to say I've never had a bad meal at Moxies. The fried chicken sandwich, salads, curries and apps. It's an easy meeting spot to go for a drink, their patio can get pretty rammed in the summer which makes it perfect for meeting friends or a date night to do a bit of people watching. Look out for their drink specials, I would say they nail it for consistency. All the Moxies I've been to tend to have similar service and recipes so it's good for when you don't want to take a gamble. read more

We are currently sitting in Moxies for my husband's bday. Ordered dry ribs and nachos to start. The nachos were well over cooked and dry as dirt. Told the waitress and she said she "will tell the cook." 1.5 hours later, no word from the waitress about the nachos, no manager came to the table- maybe because he was too busy doing the electric slide in the front lobby. That's too bad. Waitress just took our plates. She knew we were here to celebrate a birthday and.... nothing. In the past, there was dessert. Now, just the bill. Thanks Moxie's for a not so memorable birthday! Update: on the way out of the restaurant, a manager coming from the dining room crossed in front of us and said good night. The great service, great food, and great bar are only surpassed by the best all-weather (covered and heated) patio in KW! You can even catch some rays while you watch the game, because they have TVs on the patio too. A nice bonus! For food, definitely have the pot-stickers for starters, and you can't beat their steaks for dinner... and good luck picking a dessert that's NOT a great choice for an ending (my wife loves the white chocolate brownie). Because we were close by we stopped in for drinks and apps. Couldn't find a single vegan offering so decided to order a baked potato asking for it plain ad it came with cheese and bacon. My request was denied as the "frozen" potato could not have the cheese and bacon removed from it. Well so much for being FRESH. Absolutely awful service and treatment even from the managers. Went here a while ago for the first time. My friend had ordered what she thought was a veggie dish, but she noticed the sauce on top had fish in it so she couldn't eat it. She asked the waitress if it was possible to get something else, and the waitress said she'd send over the manager. So he came over and seemed annoyed that this was even an issue and said in a condescending tone, "Well the only vegetarian thing we have really is the veggie burger, so you okay with that?!". The food selection is superb and the options are all delicious, each showing an individual personality that comes along with each dish. Went here recently with a group of friends for dinner and we sat out on the patio. The views of Fairway Road obviously aren't that great, but despite that it was still a nice patio. I had the mustard dill salmon with potatoes and vegetables. I'm always worried about ordering fish from chain restaurants, but mine was actually really nicely cooked and paired well with the flavours. The sides weren't anything special though. read more

It was our first time to Moxie's and certainly will not be our last. From the friendly host at the door to our knowledgeable, efficient server I was impressed with the hospitality. The atmosphere is upbeat, modern and  a little more relaxed and casual than I had expected. The servers wear jeans and they have a large lounge area with an oversized bar. We were sat in the dining room and we're given a comfortable booth.  The food was just as impressive as the service. I have never had a better Calamari than the one we were  served. My wife had the salmon and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a perfectly cooked steak with a lobster butter topping that I highly recommend. Overall a great night and good bang for your buck read more

My wife and I returned to Moxie's for my birthday. We both agreed the calamari app was the best we've ever had! They don't cut it in the normal ring that most places do. Which really helps it stay moist while it cooks. It is lightly battered and comes with a chili aioli for dipping. It also has some lightly battered jalapenos and pickled ginger. MMM I'm getting hungry again just thinking of it. I order'd there Chop top lager on tap which I was warned that it was a very hoppy beer. Unfortunately I didn't like it at all but my server had no issues replacing it for me with a different beer. The service is top notch, the food is top notch and the menu is very reasonable. 2 beers(3 total but I wasn't charged for the ChopTop), 1 starter, and 2 entrees $77 plus tip. On a side note the outdoor patio is heated for the cooler nights. read more
