Needed a sports team friendly place that could accommodate a big party of hungry teens. Moose Winooskis did NOT disappoint! Our server was prepared for us and immediately told us names of 2 other servers for our party. She already had a plan to split the bill by Jersey numbers too! They did not automatically charge a service fee which is reflective that they are confident in their great service! Food? Many options for your typical palates, such as burgers and sandwiches...but they also offer salad bowls, nice vegetarian options and real meals (like schnitzel and meatloaf!) The food was amazing, had a burger and fries and boy oh boy it was absolutely amazing. Apparently it is always busy and we came on a Thursday and it was not bad at all. The Decoration was 10 out of 10 there is a giant moose outside, a cabin vibe all the way. We were a group of 4 at Moose Winooski's last night. I hadn't been back since pre-Covid. The other two in our group had been there since and enjoyed the patio and take out during Covid. The ambiance was great as it has always been. Our server was wonderful and very efficient. 3 of us had Moose Winooski's famous wings. They were delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed them. My concerns are with food size. I ordered a 5 oz glass of wine. It really only filled the bottom of the wine glass and certainly did not appear to be 5 oz. Maybe it was, but a smaller wine glass would have been more appropriate. We all found the wings to be much smaller in size from the large wings we always had in the past. One person at our table had been since Covid and did not experience this size difference of the chicken wings. One of the wings was so small we thought it was thrown in as an extra, but sadly that was not the case. We all understand rising costs, but raising the price AND obtaining smaller wings doesn't seem fair. Please bring back the larger wings or increase the number of wings on the menu selection without further price increases. Thank you read more

(Kitchener - Sportsworld location) My disappointment I think is more to this restaurant understanding food allergies. Before coming I saw on the website there was a Gluten Free menu which when I got there they said it is "Gluten Friendly" their distinction: "Gluten Free" but may (or in this case most likely) have come into contact with foods that do contain gluten such as not being prepared in a separate area or using the same fryer as foods that contain gluten. On their "Gluten Friendly Menu" it just says "Note that we do still have flour and other allergens on premise. Speak with one of our managers if you have allergy concerns...." I read it as it was possible for cross contamination (which could happen anywhere) but at this restaurant after speaking with staff (I think is was a manager) it is 100% that gluten free foods will be contaminated on that menu and therefore someone with Celiac Disease can't eat there period! My daughter who's 11 was in tears cause there was really nothing she could eat there. We left without ordering. read more

I've been to Moose Winooski's a few times and it's always great!!! I sat in the bar area for the first time and it was a lot of fun. There are barrels of peanuts you can grab fun and everyone just kind of throws the shells on the ground. I had the muskoka quinoa salad without cheese (no dairy for me) and asked to add buffalo fingers to it. The server kindly let me know that the chicken finger batter had dairy in it so I opted for grilled chicken tossed in hot sauce instead. Everything was very yummy! read more

I have good memories of this restaurant since my University days (that's mid 90's people and yes, I'm old). At the time, this restaurant's patio (especially in the summer) used to be the place to be. Drinks, food and meeting with friends to have a good time. I loved how the patio was laid out. We used to always get the typical bar food like burgers, pizza, nachos and wings. My favorite was/is the wings! Fast forward to 2018 and the back patio is no longer there along with the Mini Golf place. They did a huge renovation a while ago and the place inside is divided into a sit down restaurant and a bar sections. The bar is littered with lots of TV screens to catch and watch the latest games. Even, in the restaurant section, there are a few TV screens in the back so you'll never miss any of the sports action. The patio is now located in the front/side front of the restaurant. As another reviewer stated, this place does look even more like an old Ski/Hunting lodge after the renovation as you enter from the front. My parents and sister still live in the KW area and we often come to this place to eat out. It's a popular choice for the whole family. This place still brings people in as depending of the time of the day, you could wait awhile to get a table. I usually sit on the restaurant section when I'm with my family and sit in the bar section while with friends. The menu has evolved and they have a lot of different options but I always stick to my original choice, the wings. I have yet to find a better place in the GTA that makes their wings as good or as big as Moose and that includes Morty's in the KW area. I usually either gets them plain with sauce at the side or get the Medium version. Some of their selection like the Sea Salt and Black Pepper are too salty so my suggestion will be to just order them plain and ask for the sauce at the side. The Nachos are pretty good too but sometimes, it can be a bit of a hit and miss. We usually add the ground beef and avocado. Just a heads up, as they don't give you much avocado and they charge you extra. The burgers and pizza are good and you won't be disappointed. So why the 3 stars only? It comes down to price. Their food prices are not cheap. It will be an expensive outing no matter what you order. Having said that, the service are usually very good and portions are big. Also make sure to come when somebody is celebrating a birthday, so the birthday person can wear a moose hat and spin a wheel to get a pie in the face. Part of the experience... Also this place is loud especially in the bar section. It might be a little bit of a sensory overload with all of the screens, games and noise. Just a warning. It's a sports bar like other sports bars. It's no Real Sports bar but they sure have enough screens. Around 50 in the bar area alone! Asked what was on tap and I got an answer, "there are 22 on tap...do you have a particular one?" Well how about "if I knew what I want, I would not have asked what's on tap?" Is what I said in my mind! I usually like local beers and micro brews and in the end, chose an Amsterdam Brewery one of some sort. On first arrival it was jammed. People waiting outside. It was a Friday night and my family arrived around 8:30pm. The hostess was very friendly and so was the waitress. After only a 15 min wait we were able to be seated. They have car seat holders. It was so loud I could barely hear my husband across the table or the waitress but it didn't really bother me because she was so attentive and memorized our order. The food was delicious. Ribs were what they claimed they are known for and I would have to agree. The wings were delicious too. We had tequila lime and honey garlic. Overall a great experience. read more

A group of about 20 of us visited here after our afternoon sporting. I must say that aside from the decor (Montana's-much?) there was nothing else impressive about it. We had a designed prix-fixe, the soup from which ran out and we were all left with cesar's salad. Not bad, but not the most wowing salad in the world. I chose the Chicken tetrazini, which screams "bland" like a 7th degree alarm. The schnitzel with gravy tastes like what you can expect from a frozen-dinner "Hungry-man" package; except for the missing mashed potatoes and corn to complete the frozen tv dinner set. The highlight, and I'm not even sure if this is highlight because I am a dessert fan or simply because it was the only good part of dinner - the raspberry cheesecake is a win. Very quick service. I heard some pretty negative things about this place and I can say that I didn't really have anything other then a decent experience. the interior and exterior reminds me of a cottage that I went to back in my childhood, just with big screen TV's everywhere. was greeted almost instantly and sat down in the same fashion into the open area of the restaurant. I went with popcorn chicken, and Buffalo Chicken sandwich for my main with poutine on the side. I laughed extremely hard when the popcorn chicken hit the table, it was pieces of boneless chicken bites, much akin to KFC's popcorn chicken, but it actually got served with pieces of buttered popcorn all throughout the dish...I laughed very hard at this. the Buffalo Chicken sandwich was really good and the poutine was ok. the service was decent, the location is a nightmare to get in and out of the parking. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I wouldn't be upset by it either, just wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We just ordered 14 wings at Moosewinoskis and the experience was a hit and miss. Usually the wings here are of a large size and well done. Tonight they were a little off the mark. Usually we wouldn't say anything but we really felt that the experience tonight was poor when it came to the delivery of our food, so we mentioned it to our waitress and the manager came out and apologized for the experience and they offered us another set of wings for the road. I was here with a group of 6. Three of us ordered the pork schnitzel with fries. The waiter comes back and tells us there's only one portion left, so me and my brother had to order something else. The schnitzel is why we came here! So I ordered the party platter of wings, which was good. My other friend's water had a crack in the glass, so there was water leaking on to the brown paper tablecloth. Otherwise it was a good experience. Moose Winooski's has been around forever, but I don't think I had ever ate there before while I lived in KW. I was back home visiting family and we made a visit. The space is cozy and inviting like a ski lodge. Or hunting lodge I suppose because the walls are covered in funny moose heads. If someone in your party is celebrating a birthday they can wear a moose head(helmet) and have their picture taken. And then they can spin this wheel to win a prize such as a free kids meal, or received a pie in the face. Sadly my sister whose birthday was coming up in a week or so did not want to partake. The food options are your typical pub fare, and most of it seemed pretty decent. My brother's 6.50 soup that claimed to be freshly made was SUPER tiny and tasted like canned soup, so that is the main reason I am giving it a 3 star instead of a 4 star. Also they forgot my grandma's chicken on her caesar salad though it was corrected. I myself had the fish chips. The piece of fish was big. The batter was thin. Though a little limp and greasy. I used to go to University in the KW area and I recall visiting Moose when I first moved up in 2004 and wasn't overly impressed. Fast forward to 2013 and I still go back to KW to visit a couple of friends who've stayed behind for work and after hearing about how amazing it now was since the renovation (and that it was playoffs and we wanted to watch the leaf game) our group ventured over. If you couldn't guess by the name this place has traditional Canadiana written all over it. Designed like the best cabin style cottage you've ever been to in the Muskoka or Kawartha area, it's basically every Canadian stereotype you could hope for in one central location! They have a really great patio complete with a huge center bar, plenty of televisions and even little fire pits throughout + bar area has over 30 televisions! Sadly, as it was the first time the Leafs had made the playoffs in 9 years the popular spots were packed and my group of 10 was relegated to a table in the main dining room. We ordered a variety of menu items, but most notably we shared an order of their apparently famous chicken wings. For my entree I asked for the ribs. The wings weren't the best I've ever had but not the worst either (3 star), the ribs were pretty good (again nothing ventured, nothing lost). Earned this place a 4th star was their birthday traditions which we bestowed upon one of our more conservative buddies whose birthday was a mere few days away at this point. After speaking to the host on a trip to the "bathroom" we orchestrated a stellar prank which involved a moose antler helmet, and a birthday song which then promptly ended with a whipped cream pie in the face via sneak attack! People from all over the restaurant had watched this happen and folks were chuckling about it even as we were leaving! I wasn't sure what sort of beer/cider/mixed drink to get, so I asked for a drink menu. The bartender informed me, between sips of her own drink, that they don't have any drink menus due to the fact that they're getting new ones. I don't know why they wouldn't keep the old ones until the new ones were ready, but apparently Moose Winooski's, which is in large part a BAR, has been without a drink menu for some time. My husband got a couple beers on tap, and I got a vodka soda. My drink was fine, but my husband was feeling sick before we left, and I didn't feel great after having a few sips of his beer. I obviously can't say with certainty that it was due to the beer, but it did make me feel concerned. The service from our waiter was good, and there were no issues with the food, so I'm giving two stars for that. The weirdest thing about all of this was that two days after our visit, I got a social media connection request from a senior member of the staff. As I was the person who paid, I can only assume that this staff member took my name from the credit card receipts and then looked me up. I think this is inappropriate. read more

Very solid sports bar in Kitchener. A bunch of great beer on tap and a menu that reaches both the "bar crowd" and the dining set. I've been there approx. 6 times over the past 4 months while traveling on business and sat in the bar each time. Service was always on point, and the food was consistent. Easy enough location from the highways will work well for those heading from London to Toronto or for the local crowd. Countless tvs within view of every seat in the bar, trivia and a great atmosphere make "The Moose" a stopping point. I saw many families with kids dining on a Friday evening. I liked the whole moose theme. You can choose to sit at tables or at booths. The tablecloth is a big, white paper, so you can play games or draw stuff on it as you wait for food. They offer sandwiches, burgers, steaks and more. We ordered a Mediterranean hamburger that came with salad; and a pulled pork sandwich stuff and fries with gravy and cheese. We shared food and we were full by the end of the meal. I've been to Moose's probably ten times now but never took the time to properly review it. For those that aren't familiar, this is a small chain of three restaurants owned by the same restaurant group that operates Beertown and Wildcraft. It is a Canadian themed restaurant, and a bit over-the-top at that, but the staff is friendly and the décor is pleasant and inviting in the dining room. The bar is a sea of televisions and a bit overwhelming. The menu is pretty large and takes a while to digest, and they serve you dishes full of peanuts while you make up your mind. The beer list is decent with a large number on tap. The bar itself is huge with a central bar surrounded by seating, and there are TV's everywhere with just about every type of sport represented. If you're a sports fan, then this is a good thing, and if you're a businessman looking to have a decent dinner with stuff to look at and keep you occupied, then this is your place. The food is all good, with all the local favorites represented. I've had sandwiches, salads, and entrees and haven't had a bad meal, but nothing really stuck out as special either. The last few times I've visited, it's been after working late and I've stuck with their big salads and a couple beers, at the bar. The bartenders are all quite nice and happy to serve you a meal there. The prices are pretty typical and while as an American I think the beer is outrageously priced, it seems to be the going rate around here. Stopped in for Boxing Day dinner with my wife's family. We had a great server, who actually told us the Panko bacon appetizer was delicious but not a good value, and suggested we try the spinach dip instead. We absolutely loved it! Nice and garlicky. Also ordered a couple of Tankhouse Ale's from a micro brewery in Toronto. I already knew the beer was good, but what happened next was outstanding. The bartender stopped over with a pitcher that was a third full. He said they had just changed the keg, and had this beer that was going to be dumped down the drain, but since we were the only people drinking the Tankhouse, wanted to know if we'd like it. It was a small thing but very indicative of the kind of service we received tonight. The food was fantastic! I had a burger with back bacon (and since I live in the US and only get back bacon when we visit Canada, I was VERY happy) Everyone else loved their food, and my sister n law was particularly impressed that the server told us that the nacho she ordered was huge, and suggested we order the smaller portion. She was right...even the smaller one was too much food. If you're in Kitchener, check this place out. They have a menu that has a lot of different kinds of food, so everyone has a couple of choices no matter what kind of food they want.
