Very nondescript outside facade - no sign telling you what it is other than a small "BSC" (for Bovine Sex Club) painted near the door. Hard to miss though as the exterior is made up a punk rock style sculpture of rusted bikes & other assorted ephemera. The interior is similar, visually. Great sound system & chill vibes pervade throughout. Weirdly the stage is right in the entrance of the club, on your left, with a long bar along the right side, heading back. Great, crowd, great location in cool area with lots of restaurants & plenty of parking - both on the street up to 2 hours & extended parking for a flat-rate of CA$20 (~$14 USD) from 6:00pm until the next morning, just 2 blacks away.

Are the beer cans running out? It's possible. But, it's a dive in the way of the old dives. And the acoustics for bands are... not great. But they are a sign of what once was. Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. Operated by Bovine Sex Club, Tiki Bar is only open during the summers where they offer a selection of tropical drinks (cocktails, beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic options). Food, such as tacos and guac, are available where it is provided by a pop-up vendor. The space does require you to navigate a set of stairs and washrooms are not accessible as well. My coworkers and I stopped by Tiki Bar on a Wed evening looking for after work drinks. Upon arrival at the bar, the place was empty. The vibes were great - all the decor made it feel like you were transported to somewhere tropical. It was also great that the weather was beautiful as well! There are plenty of tables to sit at and the atmosphere is relaxing and chill. Service wise, there was only one staff/bartender working today so he did mention this to my party. First round of drinks he was nice enough to take our order at the table, however, you also have the option of ordering at the bar as well. The bill was settled at the end where we paid for our individual drinks each. During our time there we never felt rushed and it was nice to be in the quiet space. There were also some customers who came to get drinks as well but other than that it wasn't busy for a beautiful Wed evening. Drinks wise, there was no happy hour deal (you'd think there would be but oh well!). The cocktails were priced at $18 (+tax) each. Mocktails were $13 (+ tax). Beers and other liquors were around $8-9 (+ tax) each. I ordered a pisco sour (Pisco brandy, lemon, egg whites, and bitters) which was made well and tasted great! Another drink my coworkers liked was the pineapple yuzu old fashion. Overall, relaxing tropical vibes from this rooftop oasis located along Queen near Bathurst. No happy hour deals but the drinks and service were great!

This is my hood, and I should know where to go right? So as we did the slow walk up Queen, we first stopped at Bar Karma. An absolute great spot for a night out with friends with an alluring curb view and attractive staff in sexy attire with their clipboards ready to book you a booth and bottle service, and happy to chat us up. This wasn't what we were after, more specifically a night cap after an epic soccer match at BMO Field, along with catching the end of a rousing block party dance off at my local parking lot, so we kept walking. Next spot that looked good on the block was The Dime, and I pointed out this is where I'd bring my 905 friends who were visiting as they would feel right at home with the Colonial style and predictable drink and food menu. We went to the back and saw the nice, well-behaved back patio with bar, check! Then we plopped down at the very front window which was open to the warm humid air and sidewalk. It was ok, but it looked like I'd have to get up to get service, and was it worth it... hmmmm, then I asked her if she'd been to the Tiki bar next door, No?? Ok, follow me. Now we're talking!... past the punk rock bouncers (for the Bovine Sex Club live music space on the main floor) left past the Queen West girl at a desk giving us the nod to go up the stairs past the gaudy-good Tiki art going up the walls of the big staircase. I've been here a few times before and always enjoyed the time in Queen West taking a break from the street. In contrast with the dime next door, the place has energy and warmth. Not just because of the sultry night air (it actually felt like we were indoors) but because of the crowd there. It's always lit with a nice din to make you realize you're in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. I like being in bars where there could be a fight breaking out at any time, it just makes sense on a Saturday night when emotions can be brought to the surface. They offer typical kitchy Tiki drinks, have the kitchy Tiki art on the wall, and the two-tops with tall chairs and a nice big umbrella overhead cuz you're on the rooftop, it just feels like the right ending for an epic day of enjoying so much the city offers.

You can reserve online up to one month in advance. Most common table sizes are two or four. Now that you have been warned, let me continue to the good stuff! Upon being seated, you will be ushered to use the QR code to order. Order your pizza first as it takes 20 min to cook. I recommend allocating two slices per person. Small is four slices and large is 8. You can then order any appetizers or drinks as you wish. My order: Chai-buprofin - this drink is served on fire. It's a sweet mix of chai, coconut and rum, sending you away to the Carribean for the duration of the beverage. Pile on Pepperoni Large - sweet, savory, thick, juicy. You have entered pizza heaven and you will never go back. Cocojito - Pisco Pina colada -a surprisingly good mix and a pleasant finish Overall, we really enjoyed our experience, the food was phenomenal. If you set your expectations accordingly, you will not be disappointed!

MaiPai is known for its Detroit-style pizzas, and wow... they are absolutely incredible. It's easy to see why this place books up FAST -- we reserved a couple weeks in advance and still snagged the last 9:00 PM spot. Totally worth it though! The tiki cocktails are fantastic and served in fun themed mugs. I really enjoyed my Blue Hawaii (mixed perfectly), while my wife's Painkiller was good but very strong. The Hurricane was another hit! For an appetizer, we ordered the Parm Fries -- and they were so worth it. Crispy waffle fries drenched in gochujang butter (sweet with just a tiny kick), topped with fluffy Parmesan and fresh green onions. Delicious! For mains, I went with the Pepperoni Pile Up, easily one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, loaded with incredible sauce, stacked cheese, fluffy ricotta, and the star of the show -- scotch bonnet honey drizzled on top. My wife ordered the Secret Pickle Pizza, which was cheesy, garlicky, and super dill-y -- so unique and so good! We ordered larges so we'd have leftovers, and even though it's 8 slices, they're hearty enough that we only managed about two and a half each before calling it. Definitely worth the price -- and we loved it so much we even bought a couple tiki mugs to take home! Highly, highly recommend.

He grew up loving their wings, and spinning the iconic wheel on a family member's birthday is a core memory of my childhood. I hadn't set foot in here in 20 years, but we opted to come back when we were in town for my cousin's wedding. My expectations were in the dirt. If my 20s taught me anything, it is that nostalgia is a hell of a drug. I thought the good times and elite wings I remembered would be chalked up to an extremely positive childhood memory. So, I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. We spun the wheel for my cousin's birthday for which she got a nice little pie in the face, the wings, southwest bowl, and garlic bread appetizers were all 7.5/10 which is phenomenal for a sports bar, and the service was white gloved. What more could you ask for?
