We went to Maipai for dinner on a Saturday. I recommend booking reservations in advance as they get super busy. We called to change our 7:30 reservation but they had no other availability. The outside of the restaurant is very unassuming, but when you step inside it is a tiki bar! I also loved the randomness of the decorations. They serve Detroit style pizza. Small pizzas come with four slices and large pizzas come with eight slices. The pizza was very flavourful and filling. Would recommend!

Right when we walked in, we were blown away by the atmosphere and setup. We love the tiki bar theme, especially mixed with the current Halloween décor -- there's so much to look at and the vibe is just awesome. The staff are lovely and our server was excellent! MaiPai is known for its Detroit-style pizzas, and wow... they are absolutely incredible. It's easy to see why this place books up FAST -- we reserved a couple weeks in advance and still snagged the last 9:00 PM spot. Totally worth it though! The tiki cocktails are fantastic and served in fun themed mugs. I really enjoyed my Blue Hawaii (mixed perfectly), while my wife's Painkiller was good but very strong. The Hurricane was another hit! For an appetizer, we ordered the Parm Fries -- and they were so worth it. Crispy waffle fries drenched in gochujang butter (sweet with just a tiny kick), topped with fluffy Parmesan and fresh green onions. Delicious! For mains, I went with the Pepperoni Pile Up, easily one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, loaded with incredible sauce, stacked cheese, fluffy ricotta, and the star of the show -- scotch bonnet honey drizzled on top. My wife ordered the Secret Pickle Pizza, which was cheesy, garlicky, and super dill-y -- so unique and so good! We ordered larges so we'd have leftovers, and even though it's 8 slices, they're hearty enough that we only managed about two and a half each before calling it. Definitely worth the price -- and we loved it so much we even bought a couple tiki mugs to take home! Highly, highly recommend.

The best restaurant I went to in Hamilton Ontario. It is very tough to get a reservation. I was a walk-in on a Saturday evening shortly after they opened for the day. At first it looked like I was going to have to wait 30 minutes. But after the host made a few phone calls, me and my party of two seated with just a five minute wait. Although we seated at the bar, we still had great service. Orders were taken promptly. There are a few shareable cocktails on a menu, one of which we ordered and was delicious; just enough to get you buzzed per person. Two people can definitely share one order of pizza but since we are feeling gluttonous , we each got a order of pizza. I absolutely love the pepperoni pizza they have. I'm a huge fan of Chicago deep dish and Detroit style is a close second so I was ecstatic about how delicious this piece was. Was not expecting to eat pizza while visiting Hamilton but I did and it was fantastic. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you can. If not, just be prepared to wait for a long time. Luckily, they can take your number and then call you when it's your time to be seated so you don't have to just stand around. But always better to be prepared.

Legit tiki bar I've wanted to try to so long. Check their hours and social updates for the most up-to-date hours/events/happenings. I'm driving through Hamilton occasionally, but this trip was specifically for Maipai. I'm a tiki nerd and love the Detroit pizza spin. They also can vegan it. So this special place checked all the boxes for me. Parking is plentiful and on the street. It's metered. We didn't have reservations yet arrived shortly after they opened. Host was nice and sat us at the bar. Bartenders were friendly and skilled. Drink menu has classics and some new riffs. Food menu has Detroit style pizza (amongst many other things, but that's what I came for). Drinks were solid. Just a one and done. Zombie for my guest and Chai Tai for me. Food was hot and flavorful. Yum! A note for mug collectors: nothing branded in the way of mugs (nor apparel I didn't think). They did have a mai tai glass for purchase. I have the memories and didn't need merch. I will be back for sure!

Greatest pizza I've ever had in my life hands down, service was incredible , atmosphere 10/10 , but just leave it to the menu , don't make something on your own ! The recipes these wizards make are the best

The food and ambiance is so nice! I loved the food & the staff were really helpful with recommendations! It gets busy so I'd recommend making reservations on weekends! I wish the location was closer to other things. Coming from out of town, it felt like the area was quite unsafe (dark, quiet, empty, sketchy people walking/hovering around).

Hidden gem in Hamilton. Such a fun, cute tiki bar with great cocktails and food. We ordered the painkiller, mai tai and orbiting the 6th planet. We enjoyed all of our drinks but orbiting the 6th planet especially stood out. It had gin & passion fruit in it. For pizza we tried the don't you wanna and the spicy pepperoni - both were delicious. The crust was crispy and the middle still had the fluffiness. I like that they weren't huge slices given its Detroit style pizza. It was the perfect size where you could still eat 2-3 slices and not get too stuffed. We also really enjoyed our server, Andrea. She had extensive knowledge on the menu and gave her honest opinions which we really appreciated. Super friendly person and all around amazing employee and human! Will def be coming back here when I'm in the area.

What a fun addition to Hamilton! We had the pleasure of dining indoors last night for my birthday with some friends. I'm grateful we were able to get a same day reservation online. I had heard at one point there was a 2 week wait for reservations. Super cool, funky and clean interior. Very nice service. Menus were available through a QR code. And the food and drinks were all five stars amazing!! The Mai Thai drinks are served with a flaming sugar cube. We tried 2 kinds of wings and ordered 2 small pizzas and a salad for 4 people. Can't wait until our next visit!

Last night we reserved for two specifically in the Tiki Room on their Yelp options. We confirmed the reservation multiple times over text and even messaged we were running a tad behind, when we arrived the hostess working took us to their new Triple Seven Lounge room which is also an option to book on Yelp. I explained we had booked the Tiki Bar, the Triple Seven Lounge was empty and not themed the same, the hostess pretty rudely told us that was all she could give us despite their being an empty table available in the Tiki Room. When we asked about sitting there we were told that they held that table because someone else has a reservation. I explained again that we had a reservation, in the Tiki Room, not the Triple Seven Lounge. The hostess refused to seat us, my partner spoke to a manager and made some progress, but then we were handed back off to the same hostess, who told me I was threatening her when I said that I would post a review detailing they didn't give us our allotted reservation. Very disappointing and impersonal service. We left immediately after being called threatening because we did not want to cause that hostess any harm or unnecessary distress, but will not be back. Careful booking here, they don't value advance reservations. Remove the option to select which room you're in if you're not going to keep to it.

The island vibes hit you immediately - this would be a great place for an intimate party. We ordered: - The Big Kahuna Burger: the pineapple was a welcome addition to this otherwise pretty standard burger. The crinkle fries were also a good texture. 8/10 - Popcorn Shrimp: saucy yet crispy, great choice for an app. 8/10 - Jackfruit & Spinach Dip: I think the jackfruit was in dried form sprinkled on top of the dip, and we honestly didn't taste the jackfruit at all. 6.5/10 And for drinks, I asked them to surprise me with a mocktail. I got a delicious slightly creamy fizzy banana coconut drink. The bartender mentioned it was something he was working on. I hope it is officially on the menu soon! My partner got the Tokyo Drift - could barely taste the alcohol. If you get one of the larger drinks in bowls, they are served with some surprise flair. Cocktails are definitely the specialty here! We were able to nab some free parking on Euclid Ave., but it is also pretty accessible by streetcar. I would definitely come back with a group!

This is my hood, and I should know where to go right? So as we did the slow walk up Queen, we first stopped at Bar Karma. An absolute great spot for a night out with friends with an alluring curb view and attractive staff in sexy attire with their clipboards ready to book you a booth and bottle service, and happy to chat us up. This wasn't what we were after, more specifically a night cap after an epic soccer match at BMO Field, along with catching the end of a rousing block party dance off at my local parking lot, so we kept walking. Next spot that looked good on the block was The Dime, and I pointed out this is where I'd bring my 905 friends who were visiting as they would feel right at home with the Colonial style and predictable drink and food menu. We went to the back and saw the nice, well-behaved back patio with bar, check! Then we plopped down at the very front window which was open to the warm humid air and sidewalk. It was ok, but it looked like I'd have to get up to get service, and was it worth it... hmmmm, then I asked her if she'd been to the Tiki bar next door, No?? Ok, follow me. Now we're talking!... past the punk rock bouncers (for the Bovine Sex Club live music space on the main floor) left past the Queen West girl at a desk giving us the nod to go up the stairs past the gaudy-good Tiki art going up the walls of the big staircase. I've been here a few times before and always enjoyed the time in Queen West taking a break from the street. In contrast with the dime next door, the place has energy and warmth. Not just because of the sultry night air (it actually felt like we were indoors) but because of the crowd there. It's always lit with a nice din to make you realize you're in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. I like being in bars where there could be a fight breaking out at any time, it just makes sense on a Saturday night when emotions can be brought to the surface. They offer typical kitchy Tiki drinks, have the kitchy Tiki art on the wall, and the two-tops with tall chairs and a nice big umbrella overhead cuz you're on the rooftop, it just feels like the right ending for an epic day of enjoying so much the city offers.
