We sat at the outdoor bar and enjoyed a light meal here last weekend. The view of the water was fantastic. The gentleman at the outdoor bar was amazing and never missed a beat with bite checks and drink refills. The food though...my boyfriend did not like the fish tacos. He said he can tell it's old fryer oil just by looking at it. I got the seared tuna with noodles on the side. The seared tuna was good, but the noodles on the side were undercooked. I would definitely come back again for the view and friendly service.

Could have used some a few more slices of chorizo though, that would definitely bring it up to a 10. Truffled spinach dip 10/10 Absolutely delicious! I could eat this all day! Warm, cheesy, and truffley. I don't notice the spinach much and there's some artichoke in there too. The sautéed onions in there were great. Love the pita that comes with it for dipping too. Fish fry 9/10 Good cook on the fish. Nice and crispy, though it does get a little soft pretty quick. Homemade tartar sauce was good. Dill flavor came through the most for me. French fries 10/10 Good fries! Mac salad 2/10 Spicy. Not a fan at all. Kyle loved it though. Coleslaw 9/10 Traditional sweet mayo based coleslaw. Could just use some more flavor, salt maybe.

Operated by Bovine Sex Club, Tiki Bar is only open during the summers where they offer a selection of tropical drinks (cocktails, beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic options). Food, such as tacos and guac, are available where it is provided by a pop-up vendor. The space does require you to navigate a set of stairs and washrooms are not accessible as well. My coworkers and I stopped by Tiki Bar on a Wed evening looking for after work drinks. Upon arrival at the bar, the place was empty. The vibes were great - all the decor made it feel like you were transported to somewhere tropical. It was also great that the weather was beautiful as well! There are plenty of tables to sit at and the atmosphere is relaxing and chill. Service wise, there was only one staff/bartender working today so he did mention this to my party. First round of drinks he was nice enough to take our order at the table, however, you also have the option of ordering at the bar as well. The bill was settled at the end where we paid for our individual drinks each. During our time there we never felt rushed and it was nice to be in the quiet space. There were also some customers who came to get drinks as well but other than that it wasn't busy for a beautiful Wed evening. Drinks wise, there was no happy hour deal (you'd think there would be but oh well!). The cocktails were priced at $18 (+tax) each. Mocktails were $13 (+ tax). Beers and other liquors were around $8-9 (+ tax) each. I ordered a pisco sour (Pisco brandy, lemon, egg whites, and bitters) which was made well and tasted great! Another drink my coworkers liked was the pineapple yuzu old fashion. Overall, relaxing tropical vibes from this rooftop oasis located along Queen near Bathurst. No happy hour deals but the drinks and service were great!

This is my hood, and I should know where to go right? So as we did the slow walk up Queen, we first stopped at Bar Karma. An absolute great spot for a night out with friends with an alluring curb view and attractive staff in sexy attire with their clipboards ready to book you a booth and bottle service, and happy to chat us up. This wasn't what we were after, more specifically a night cap after an epic soccer match at BMO Field, along with catching the end of a rousing block party dance off at my local parking lot, so we kept walking. Next spot that looked good on the block was The Dime, and I pointed out this is where I'd bring my 905 friends who were visiting as they would feel right at home with the Colonial style and predictable drink and food menu. We went to the back and saw the nice, well-behaved back patio with bar, check! Then we plopped down at the very front window which was open to the warm humid air and sidewalk. It was ok, but it looked like I'd have to get up to get service, and was it worth it... hmmmm, then I asked her if she'd been to the Tiki bar next door, No?? Ok, follow me. Now we're talking!... past the punk rock bouncers (for the Bovine Sex Club live music space on the main floor) left past the Queen West girl at a desk giving us the nod to go up the stairs past the gaudy-good Tiki art going up the walls of the big staircase. I've been here a few times before and always enjoyed the time in Queen West taking a break from the street. In contrast with the dime next door, the place has energy and warmth. Not just because of the sultry night air (it actually felt like we were indoors) but because of the crowd there. It's always lit with a nice din to make you realize you're in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. I like being in bars where there could be a fight breaking out at any time, it just makes sense on a Saturday night when emotions can be brought to the surface. They offer typical kitchy Tiki drinks, have the kitchy Tiki art on the wall, and the two-tops with tall chairs and a nice big umbrella overhead cuz you're on the rooftop, it just feels like the right ending for an epic day of enjoying so much the city offers.

Upon walking in you are greeted with warmth and a heavy tiki bar theme which extends from the restaurant to the lobby and even the bathrooms! You can reserve online up to one month in advance. Most common table sizes are two or four. Now that you have been warned, let me continue to the good stuff! Upon being seated, you will be ushered to use the QR code to order. Order your pizza first as it takes 20 min to cook. I recommend allocating two slices per person. Small is four slices and large is 8. You can then order any appetizers or drinks as you wish. My order: Chai-buprofin - this drink is served on fire. It's a sweet mix of chai, coconut and rum, sending you away to the Carribean for the duration of the beverage. Pile on Pepperoni Large - sweet, savory, thick, juicy. You have entered pizza heaven and you will never go back. Cocojito - Pisco Pina colada -a surprisingly good mix and a pleasant finish Overall, we really enjoyed our experience, the food was phenomenal. If you set your expectations accordingly, you will not be disappointed!

MaiPai is known for its Detroit-style pizzas, and wow... they are absolutely incredible. It's easy to see why this place books up FAST -- we reserved a couple weeks in advance and still snagged the last 9:00 PM spot. Totally worth it though! The tiki cocktails are fantastic and served in fun themed mugs. I really enjoyed my Blue Hawaii (mixed perfectly), while my wife's Painkiller was good but very strong. The Hurricane was another hit! For an appetizer, we ordered the Parm Fries -- and they were so worth it. Crispy waffle fries drenched in gochujang butter (sweet with just a tiny kick), topped with fluffy Parmesan and fresh green onions. Delicious! For mains, I went with the Pepperoni Pile Up, easily one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, loaded with incredible sauce, stacked cheese, fluffy ricotta, and the star of the show -- scotch bonnet honey drizzled on top. My wife ordered the Secret Pickle Pizza, which was cheesy, garlicky, and super dill-y -- so unique and so good! We ordered larges so we'd have leftovers, and even though it's 8 slices, they're hearty enough that we only managed about two and a half each before calling it. Definitely worth the price -- and we loved it so much we even bought a couple tiki mugs to take home! Highly, highly recommend.

Upon arriving, the hostess told us that the outdoor reservation actually means nothing and its first come first serve for seating. So, that wasn't great. As always, the space was great. The rooftop bar was fantastic - great weather and a live DJ made it a really fun place to hang out on a Friday night. The bar upstairs didn't have as good of a cocktail menu as inside, which was okay! We ordered our food directly at the bar. Black Smoke used to have a delicious BBQ inspired menu. They have recently updated their menu, and I wasn't impressed. We ordered the Mac and cheese croquettes, the steak flatbread, and the chips and dip. The Mac and cheese balls were good but they were very heavily seasoned with Italian seasoning - it was a little overpowering. I had heard great things about the steak flatbread - steak, goat cheese, caramelized onions, and fresh spring greens. The flatbread arrived and was cut into these little triangles and was stacked on top of eachother and the spring greens seemed like they were cooked on the pizza instead of sprinkled on after. This made the flatbread taste kind of swampy and completely negated the delicious onion and flat cheese combo going on. If you got a bite without the spring greens it was tasty. The chips and dip were the one thing I had no issues with. The chips were thick and homemade and the dip was creamy, oniony, and delicious! Overall, the bartenders were amazing, the drinks were good, and the vibes were top tier. I just won't be back for dinner any time soon.
