What a great place to put your toes in the sand on the beach with a cold drink and listen to a band! I have been coming here for years and it's so fun!!! There is a cover charge for the bands sometimes $10 or $5 depends on the band, don't forget your ID. Always a friendly hello and greeting and you can sit alone or with new found friends. Cool barrel tables with chairs right on the beach. There is an indoor bar and seating indoors if you prefer sometimes nice on those windy or rainy days. The outdoor tiki bar is cash only. They carry some local beers, wine, mixed drinks, good variety. The staff is awesome!!!! Can't wait to go back!

Just a note to start that this is NOT my first trip to Marges. - just my first review of it. I have been going to this great lakeside bar for over 20 years. But they've made some changes here. Now when you go during the summer and go out on the beach, you get seated at a table with nice chairs. They have each table numbered and have a QR code where you can order drinks to be delivered to your table. There's also a QR code to have Bill Grays food delivered as well. But about the bar. The inside is a kitchy old-time seaside/Lakeside house that has tons of character and charm! And that's great for any season that's not summer. But in the summer, you walk out the back door and you feel like you're in Key West with the sand and the sun and the music and the tiki bar. There's really no other place like it in our area. They have a great selection of beers and mixed drinks. And also frozen margaritas and rum runners. This is one of my favorite places to go in Rochester. They have a great live music and a jukebox indoors too. Check out Marge's- I think you will love it- I do!

Gettin packed!

Omg I had the time of my life yesterday (Saturday 7/30/22) at Marge's, the coolest bands were there. I met some of the band members of BB dang including the lead vocals who is wicked talented, I'm hopin I get to see them play in Nashville or CMAC in the near future! Wow I was so impressed! Best of luck to the band:))) The set up on the beach was perfect, weather was unreal, the beer was great, great peeps, great vibe, great music! Really wonderful! Marge's knows what's up, they know how to throw a party! I had a great time dancin', if u have never been to Marge's now is the time to go!

Marges is the greatest hidden gem on Lake Ontario- great vibe... winter or summer. Dark and cozy on a snowy winter day and a beach that beckons to sit and sip while watching the sun set in the summer! #margeslakesideinn #buzzybooth

We visit friends in Rochester once or twice a year only when the "stars are aligned" By that I mean our favorite hotel (The Del Monte) is available and Marge's Lakeside Inn is open. Marge's is greater than the Great Lake it's located on! You pay a reasonable cover ($5) for entry and are seated at a table on the private beach which is part of Marge's. Drink service is excellent. As we're usually there on a Saturday or Sunday, the live music starts around 4 and helps to provide the vibe that keeps bringing us back here every visit. Beach, water, music and drinks-how could things not be perfect? With COVID (pre and post) having a huge effect on businesses such as Marge's, I've always called or messaged to confirm open hours especially before making our trip. Responsiveness from management (Francine - who I believe is the owner) is fantastic. She runs a great place and goes out of her way to accommodate her customers. We need to make another visit to Rochester later this Summer to get our "Marge's" fix. I really cannot remember a bar even going back to my college days that I've enjoyed so much.

love this place! we went for the live music and the sunset and had the best time ever! couldn't have asked for a better night #margeslakesideinn #buzzybooth

The best beach vibes in Rochester. This place is a gem, you can sit out on the soft sand beach and drink and watch the sunset. Go on summer Mondays or Tuesdays for freedom from the strict rules of the other nights - on those nights no bands, you can sit where you want, etc. Go on other nights for kind of annoying lame rules - if you are only 2 people, you can only sit on the side chairs, only facing the glaring sun, etc. Not sure why those side chairs can't be where the sun is at your back. They even have food on weekends like a charcuterie board stand or hot dogs/hamburgers. I was SO IMPRESSED they even had vegan Beyond Burgers at their hotdog stand - amazing! Otherwise you can order or bring your own food in. The only mixed drinks are canned, but they are pretty good. I like the pina colada - get a lot of ice to pour it in. It's strong! The staff is friendly, the vibe is very Jimmy Buffet, and the view is the best. Only one bathroom for ladies so prepare to stand in line if it's busy - or do like I do, just use the mens bathroom instead.

Take your pick of seats on the sandy shores of Lake Ontario. I chose an Adirondack chair nearest to the water.

After being gone a few days, my friend's husband returned and as she recounted to him the things we'd done in his absence he suggested she take me to Marge's. "You know, that place on the sand" he said, as she tried to recall what, where, or who Marge was. Then he turned to me: "you get a drink and go out back and you're sitting right there on the sand, on the shore of Lake Ontario". Marge's immediately scaled to the top of my to-do list. The day before leaving Rochester we made our way to Marge's with adequate time to get drinks (full bar) from the dimly lit tiki-esque interior then walk out back and choose from an array of chairs (plastic Adirondacks are perfect). Ropes delineate the boundaries of Marge's and I dragged myself, my drink, and the Adirondack to the edge of the rope closest to the water then planted myself there. Believe me when I say that there are few things in the world better than spending time with friends on a beach with a cold drink in your hand, watching as the sun slowly sets over the water. If you rightly trust in the real estate adage "location, location, location" you'll easily understand why Marge's is winning. Rochester weather is fickle and I've no belief that Marge's is a 5-star destination during much of the year, especially when Lake Ontario freezes over. For a brief moment in September though, it is the height of casual perfection. With interior photos spanning Marge's lifetime, this place feels well loved and rightly so. It's quite special and unique.

COVID-19 Summer 2020 review - Marge's is taking many safety precautions. They have tables set up with a max of 6 - only people in your party can sit with you. They are tracking their numbers from the front entrance so be sure to arrive early if you want to get in. If you're inside, you must wear a mask. They also have staff in the backyard to clear tables and bring drinks out. All of their staff members wore masks and were properly sanitizing tables and chairs as soon as guests were leaving. Marge's still has the amazing Marge's feel even with limited capacity. Also, they closed at 10 pm on the day I went so you may want to double check the hours with them before you arrive.

Yipee! Marge's is open for the season! Took a motorcycle ride there yesterday for Mother's Day. Sunny day but cool on the beach. But who cares... again itt was sunny and we could drink! On the beach. Yes, drink on the beach :) Bartender very friendly and attentive. Love this little "hole in the wall" type bar. Can't wait for the warmer weather and live music. Just FYI the Live music does start next week! Check out their facebook page for events. Would definitely recommend!

Ask the Community - Marge's Lakeside Inn

Is there food?

I found out the answer in the meantime - it's a $30 hot pocket that they serve. But it's a secret.

The SLA says that all bars have to have food prep and food that is more than just snacks. That being the case, does anyone know what Marge's food menu is, even if it's a "secret"?

I just talked to the manager. They do not serve food. However, he said you are more than welcome to bring any kind of food you wish.

Are drink prices reasonable?

Yes drink prices are very reasonable!!

Our table got free shots because one member of the party was celebrating her birthday at Easy Sailor (she also received leis around her neck). Cons: Expensive. Small portions. Food is OK, but not worth the cost. Drinks are VERY expensive. The vegan appetizers are coconut sticky rice, sesame garlic vegetables, and kung pao cucumbers. There is one vegan entrée: Spamfu fried rice. The coconut sticky rice was decent, but not filling. And it's hard to eat it without making a big mess, because they foolishly serve it to you in a small, overstuffed dish with no plate under it. So when you dig into the ball of rice with your fork, you end up dislodging bits of it all over the table. They really need to figure out a better way to serve it. The sesame garlic vegetables were quite good (better than the rice), but also not filling. My wife had the Spamfu, which was a surprisingly small portion given that it's billed as an entrée. The vegan bits of "Spam" were cubes of marinated tofu, and there wasn't much of it. Given that tofu and rice are both cheap, the cost of that dish was pretty outrageous. And speaking of outrageous costs, the fancy drinks were priced astronomically high. The menu is written in a small font and is hard to read, especially given the dim lighting in the restaurant. I had to use my iPhone to take pictures of it, so I could magnify the photos on my screen. The water carafes are impractical. They have very long, thin necks, which means you can't put ice in them -- and they tend to block your view of other people sitting at the table. They don't hold much water, so you have to keep asking the server to refill them. And the water glasses are too small. The restaurant really needs to get bigger (but squatter) carafes that hold ice, and they need better water glasses. If you're not especially hungry and money is no object, then maybe Easy Sailor is right for you. Otherwise, I'd skip it.

If you aren't a Tiki connoisseur you should still check it out for their unique take at South Asian and East Asian cuisine. The drinks are stellar. Very refreshing and smooth. Gotta remind yourself to go easy on them or you might find yourself very drunk very soon. The food is good. I wish some of the dishes came with the option to have a side of rice instead of ordering it separately. The mood, aesthetic and vibes hit you right including the decor and lighting. Take a moment to look around and above you to appreciate the art and craft mounted on the walls. Even the wallpapers contribute to the Tiki vibe. It's well done. Sean took care of us the whole time we were there. He is so warm, welcoming, patient and ready to give you suggestions from the menu based on what you need. Importantly Sean is attentive and makes sure your specific needs are taken care of. As for Drinks, Mai Tai- 4/5 It was a pretty well balanced Mai Tai. It is a strong smooth drink. Sherrykiller- 4/5 I liked the balance of flavors and how the sours managed to hold their own in this drink. Boomslang Fang- 4.5/5 Another smooth yummy drink. The flavors complement each other. Boozy Shipless- 4/5 Well presented. Tropical flavors through and through which I loved. I was not a fan of the garnish on top at first but it grew on me eventually. Now the food, We started with Sesame Garlic Brussels sprouts. 4/5 for that dish. Beautiful flavor. Well roasted sprouts. Coconut Sticky Rice- 5/5 Perfect rice. Well made. Well presented. The salty and the sweet flavors have wonderful chemistry. The rice was the right amount of fluffy and soft. Mandarin Tea Chicken- 4/5 Very yummy. Chicken was wonderful. I wish it came with rice and had more lean white meat as it seemed that it had more fatty dark meat. Jaffna Shrimp Curry- 4/5 Wonderful dish. The shrimp was well made. Perfectly cooked. The lentils could be more softer. The sauce was beautiful and combined all aspects of this dish perfectly. I'm not sure what leaves they used for garnish. I hoped to see curry leaves in there given the South Asian roots of this dish but alas they weren't there. Nonetheless it was a wonderful meal.

This is my take on Blvd Grill (a.k.a., "The Boulevard") after having visited just once on Jan 4,…read more2026. My wife and I were looking for some place to go close by on Sunday evening. We thought we'd give Blvd Grill a shot. I would categorize Blvd Grill as a sports bar, as there was a row of TVs above and around the bar showing the games of local interest (Jets and Bills games). My wife and I aren't big sports fans, and we sat at a small casual table along the wall for dinner. The bar area, including high top tables was very busy with people obviously enjoying themselves, but there were plenty of available small dining tables for 2-6 people. TL;DR We were pleasantly surprised. In spite of the casual appearance, the food and drink were excellent. My wife ordered a glass of Riesling, which was semi-dry (I would actually peg right in the middle between dry and sweet) and was very smooth without that slight bite some Rieslings can have. I ordered a Blue Moon on tap. They had a small number of basic and IPA brews available. Not a large, but a reasonable selection. For dinner my wife ordered the Chicken French, which is one of her favorite dishes. She cooks this dish herself frequently, and is quite critical of how this dish is prepared when we go out. In this case, she was very pleased with it. I ordered a pesto cod dish that was on the menu. I found the cod tender and the dish overall very tasty without being overdone in flavor or cooking. As others have mentioned, the food isn't cheap, although on this particular night they were selling wings at $1/ea, but we didn't order wings. The main courses were in the $20-$30 range. Honestly, though, we've eaten at some higher end restaurants recently and Blvd Grill had them beat in terms of food quality in this case. The service was good. Our waitress was a young lady who was courteous and efficient. Maybe the food and service quality vary depending on the day or night, but based on our single experience, we'd definitely visit Blvd Grill again.

Sat at the bar and my bartender was amazing, super welcoming and friendly which always sets the tone. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and while the patty itself could've used a little more flavor, that garlic aioli carried. It was so good. I'd definitely come back.
