Oh Seven Shores, how worthy you are of my praise. This has got to be one of THE spots I need to hit up when I am in KW. I love their concept, honouring the Earth-compostable containers, serving up local fare- supporting the surrounding area and being housed in a building with yoga. I cannot remember if this is a co-op or not. This place is definitely a hot spot, as it is usually always busy. And honestly, hits all the points for me... great space, both outdoor and indoor seating, food selection is varied and oh so scrumptious, their staff are professional and friendly. On a first name basis with their regulars. Whether it be a salad, a coffee and muffin, or a soup and burger, there is nothing you can't order that would not be mouth watering and well worth it. Generally I stick to my usual plant based burger. I have ordered it multiple times and it is always delicious. Sometimes, it's a long wait, yet whenever I take a bite I am reminded how worth the wait it is. I've dined in for breakfast, treated a friend to lunch. It is such a pleasure to enjoy this beautiful venue and experience it differently every time. If you live in the area, take a walk, hop on the bike, bus, scooter or get in the car and take a friend, you will be delighted! Thank you Seven Shores for being here and to all the lovely staff, you're awesome and appreciated. I very much look forward to my next visit. read more

Went during lunch on a weekday and the store was very busy! The food arrived quickly, the drinks took a bit. The spring roll was delicious, there is peanut butter within the roll. The store had ample space. read more

This place is so busy! Easy to see why: great story and great offerings. I went there for breakfast and the food was good enough. The ambience is a bit chaotic and super loud so if you are noise- and din- sensitive, definitely go at quiet times. I went on a Sunday morning and it was clearly the local preferred Sunday brunch spot!! read more

Casual, friendly, tasty bakery treats. Wish their tea was hotter, but I forgive that, cause the place is so friendly

Came here for the first time for a quick coffee fix and pleasantly found that their espresso is really good!! On a warmer day, my go to is a double espresso on ice, and you can tell this was packed unlike other cafes where a double feels more like a single. Have not tried their food, but one day, it looked and smelled amazing - I plan to be back! read more

Came here for a quick meal after performing in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. I did a Google search on where would be a good place to go to after brunch and discovered this place. It had high reviews overall, so I figured I'd come here. I'm glad I did. The overall atmosphere is very calm and cozy, at least from when I was here. I am not sure if it is like that when the students are in town since I was here when students would not usually be around. Service is also friendly. The food sometimes takes a while to come out but that's totally fine because the quality of the food is always excellent. For reference, I ordered the Uptown Omelette. Note that breakfast is served until 3pm. Overall, I was very satisfied with my visit here and I'd happily come here again when in the KW area. read more

Love the feel of this cafe. It's a good place to study and get a drink and treat! The staff are great and I like how the kitchen is fully visible to all customers as well. While my boyfriend loved the breakfast burrito, I tried their lunch snacks (ie., fresh spring rolls & hummus) and wasn't a fan. Their lattes, teas, and pastries have all been great though! read more

Super cute cafe with fairly priced drinks and food items. Got a macchiato and a soy vanilla latte. Both drinks were good with a huge plus being that all milks are the same price (unlike starbucks who charges you more...) which was inclusive to the non-milk drinkers. Lots of good seating and a cute interior. Lost a star because the espresso was slightly acidic and the latte wasn't as good as I hoped. read more

Really nice atmosphere for studying or catching up with a friend. Large variety of food and snacks as well. Their breakfast and lunch items seem really reasonable, but I didn't try any. Had the apple cider, which was nice on this cold day. They put a lot of thought into making the place welcoming and nice. Local art for sale is displayed on the walls, the washrooms are gender neutral, and there's a corner with kids' toys. Staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place based on atmosphere alone, though I haven't tried any of their food so cannot speak on that. read more

Food was very average, not much salt or flavour. I found the service very slow, the coffee is self serve and for the tables you have to clean up after yourselves. The food took 30-40 mins to arrive and it was just sitting in the back of the kitchen when we went over to the cashier to ask if they forgot our dishes. read more

This place is "good vibes only" sort of a place. I don't know what is about the place that it just feels like a peaceful safe space in the chaotic uptown. On a sunny day you will have all the sunlight coming in and making the perfect breakfast environment, and their food compliments the vibe. My favourite is the turkey panini but I have tried other things and everything has been great, really good portion size as well. They also have the best Mocha in the city and probably the best scones. Breakfast doesn't get better than this in Waterloo. read more

Visiting from California and looking for a healthy breakfast and I found Seven Shores. Delicious oatmeal with fruit and a beautiful omelette for my travel buddy. Seven Shores is amazing! We showed up at 11am on a Friday with 12 hockey players and their parents. The cafe was buzzing (not a free table in sight). The staff quickly opened up the patio for us and promptly filled our bellies and topped up our low caffeine levels & satisfied our smoothie cravings! The boys are 9years old and typical for their age (loud and excitable). We were treated like family! I have recommended Seven Shores to anyone that will listen and will continue to do so. This is such a cute spot! The menu has many different options that appeal to all dietary restrictions, as there are clear notes about gluten-free and vegan options as well as notes about containing dairy products. The food was amazing and the outdoor patio was a very nice place to sit to enjoy both my meal and the weather. I will be coming back for sure! read more

Note: 3.5 STARS Seven Shores recently expanded in a big way. Its far less cramped than it used to be. I got a 'pour-over coffee' which is the hot new thing in coffee. What's a pour-over, you ask? It's the hot new thing outta Japan. Basically its hot water poured coffee, real slow like. Somehow, it transforms your $1 gas station perk into the milk of virginal unicorns. Not sure if its worth $3.25, but it was really good. Normally I drink with cream and lots o' sugar, and this baby didn't need it, once it cooled down. So props to that. My big complaint about this place was really the atmosphere in this place. Dunno know about the staff attitude. Got a weird vibe from them. Also, this place is chock full of boring middle-aged, yuppie families with babies, and their geriatric parents in tow. Now, there is nothing wrong with these people whatsoever. But, if you're like me, and you are partially looking for the social aspect of a coffeeshop, and don't happen to own a golden retriever, adopted babies, a pantry full of WholeFoods, and 3 Volvo station wagons (one per baby/dog), you might want to steer clear of this place. read more

This place has the best goddamn vietnamese-style spring-rolls I've ever tasted. The best part is that they're vegan! It's a terrible struggle to even consider ordering anything else because I lust for them so badly. The place is really chill and the staff is really friendly. The few times I've been there, I've just chatted with them while I eat or work. They also function as a organic(?) mini-mini-grocery, so if you're into that it's a pretty swell idea to eat and then shop. As a late-nighter I'm not always suitable for their core business hours, but that's a pretty small complaint in the grand scheme of things. read more

Organic, locally-sourced food. Best coffee I've had in Waterloo, better than Death Valley's Little Brother. The food was delicious and fresh. It's open Monday-Saturday. It can get pretty busy. The lineup and the wait for food can be long. read more

For cafes, I like to split the review into 4 main categories: the xoffee, the food, the atmosphere, and the service. The coffee: I've only tried the batch brew. It has its days, sometimes it's quite good and sometimes its less than stellar. But I don't come here for the coffee... The food: 5/5. This place has some of the best food I've had in KW. Their veggie spring rolls are off the hook, please try them!! The atmosphere: It ranges. It's less of a student cafe, and can get pretty bustling sometimes. I think it's wonderful. The service: Everybody is friendly and helpful. One time I asked for iced coffee and got like 4 ice cubes, which just resulted in luke-warm coffee. Other than that, i'm quite content! read more

The staff is always friendly. I like that it is open early on Sundays as they have great coffee and breakfast. I can get caught up on some fun tasks and/or meet a friend. read more

Delicious coffee and food! Everything that I have ordred there, from breakfast to coffee, hot chocolate, baked goods, to lunch, each item has been excellent. The vibe in Seven Shores is not your normal (often pretentious) coffee shop, full of students and young professionals, but that is a huge relief and extremely refreshing to find a different atmosphere. Comfortable, spacious, and full of light, its a nice spot to do some work, chat with friends, or read a book. Also, take note of the wooden counter when you order your drink. It is made from recycled shelves of the previous establishment. Pretty awesome. Your order is brought to you at your table, which is a nice touch. read more

A busy place at noon. Trendy style. Lots of seating, and a private room for large groups. There's a patio for outdoor eating in the warmer weather. The tomato soup was tasty. The americano was robust. The scone I ordered was lightly sweetened which I prefer. As a solo diner I felt comfortable. Being in a downtown location, parking was a bit difficulty but I found some street parking about a block away. read more

Excellent service, and very friendly staff. The coffee is excellent, and the espresso is pulled on a gorgeous vintage machine (it's beautiful if you appreciate fine coffee, and adds to the atmosphere) The owner told me the whole story behind the espresso machine, and was super friendly. I believe there's wifi if you're working, and there's a great little patio outside when the weather is nice. It's a homey feeling place. Not too big or loud. One of the coffee gems in Kitchener Waterloo. If you're driving, there is a lot across the street, but it's hit or miss whether you'll find a spot. You can also park on the road nearby. read more

Definitely 5 stars if the wait time was less. I was in no rush though, I recommend the breakfast burrito and the Americano. The desserts look amazing, I'll be back. read more

It is my first visit for this cafe. I think it is OK cafe in Waterloo, but not the best one. Many people were lined up and waited to get their food. I went there during lunch time on Sunday so it was very busy there. The interior design and the environment was good. Their service was okay but not so friendly like what I expected from the popular cafe. Food 2/5 I ordered chicken panini with salad. What I expected was chicken panini which is a grilled sandwich made from baguette or ciabatta other than sliced bread. However, I got a chicken sandwich, not panini. Panini should be used some bread types like baguette, ciabatta or michetta. Also, it should be pressed by a warming grill before it served to customers. The cheese should be melted on the bread because it has to be pressed by a grill, but what I had was a cold slice of cheddar cheese. The ingredients for the panini was a slice of tomato, cheese, lettuce, chicken, and mayo. I think I can easily make that at home. The food was not warm as well. I think they should change the name of their panini to chicken sandwich. Don't waste your 11 dollar for chicken sandwich. Coffe 4/5 I ordered the Iced Americano and it was quite good. But it is not the best that I have had. Probably one of the best in Waterloo, but there will be other great coffee out there. I might be back when I have a chance to go around in uptown waterloo but I am not gonna try panini in this cafe. I think I should try food other than panini. read more

it's a really lovely cafe, but bad espresso, beans overoasted and the espresso shot was not pulled properly.

Seven Shores Urban Market and Cafe is relatively new to Uptown Waterloo but it is not to be missed. They have options for breakfast and lunch, and some items that could work as light dinners. Their menu changes with the season. Some great options I've personally tried and liked are chili, vegan caesar salad, the tuna and caper sandwich, and various grilled sandwiches called Tramazinnis. I also like their smoothies. Their coffee is the best you'll find and it's fairly traded. The general idea is that the food is as locally sourced as possible, in season, organic and fairly traded. They have an organic food box program. You sign up your email, they send you a list of groceries, and you can order the items you want or get them to put together a box for you. You can pick up your food box, or they will deliver it to you for a fee of $5. This cafe is the best Waterloo has to offer. I hope that more cafes and restaurants follow the example that Seven Shores has set. This is what food should be like! read more

I went with my partner for brunch on a Monday. I had an egg with cheese on an English muffin. I liked it a lot. The presentation was nice. I had regular brewed coffee and it was good. I'd heard mixed things about the coffee but it was great. My partner ordered eggs over easy with toast, but complained that they were overdone. We both thought that the water tasted a bit weird, but that's most likely because it's from KW groundwater. Overall, Seven Shores has a really great atmosphere and the staff are very nice. I've been going for a while and I'll definitely keep coming back. read more
