Darlise Cafe - oh my. This is such a gem on Queen St W in Kitchener. Make sure you have your GPS on you because you will miss it and walk by it a few times. This cafe is tucked in a building with no sign but boy do they have really good food. I had ordered the eggs benedict with peameal bacon and a side of the potato carmelized onion pancake. The egg was perfectly poached. Sauce was spectacular and that pancake was beyond amazing. I got lucky and had a taste of their house made hot sauce and man is it yum. It gives you a little bit of heat and rounds out the meal really nicely. Get onto their instagram to see when they make the sauce. It's only made once a year during the holiday season for ordering!! read more

We were told it would be 20 mins for a table. Waited 45 and still didn't get a table. We heard people at the table close to us that they had been waiting 1 hour for their food. We decided to leave. Would have been nice for them to offer us coffee when it became obvious the wait time was much longer then they first said. read more

Wanted some brunch food while I was hanging out with my cousin that weekend. Def get a reso ahead of time because it was busy and full by the time I got there! I liked all the dishes I got there. Eggs Benedict was amazing and this bread stick was interesting. Don't think I've had something like that in the gta. I would add that in as a side to try. read more

Food was fabulous!! Our server was super friendly. Food came out quite fast. We just had a bit of a delay getting seated -- no one noticed we came into the restaurant for a bit. The eggs Benedict was just as great as others have raved about on Yelp reviews. Was not disappointed. The main downside is parking is a pain in the backside. read more

Reserve your table well in advance as they get busy - Conveniently located in downtown Kitchener. Service is very slow, and their coffee is decent but nothing special. French toast sticks were the highlight of our meal, the sauce was great! Other than that, the rest of the items we ended up having were just okay. read more

Chose this place based on Yelp ratings for breakfast, and it being across the street from our hotel. Went here 8/9/2019. Loved everything about it. The interior is charming old cafe style with plenty of seating. One lady serves as hostess, waitress and cashier, while a couple of cooks can be seen scrambling around in the rear kitchen. I am not normally a breakfast person, but I make an exception for this kind of place. There are many menu choices I like, but I settled on the Norwegian Benedict because I have never seen smoked salmon offered on a Benedict. Not do I order Benedicts because of the rich and high calorie hollandaise sauce, but I went for it this time ... yummy. I would order it again. Wife got the Holly Scrambler and loved it. We also got three muffins for the road and ate them later - also very good. We will definitely be back. Our son just started grad school at the U of Waterloo, so I mean it. read more

I was wheelchairing by and didn't notice a ramp. I called to confirm and yes this place is completely inaccessible by wheelchair. Didn't sound like they planned to remedy this. Not a very welcoming feeling. It's too bad, I live down the street and would go often if they'd let me in. read more

Darlise Cafe is a hidden gem tucked away in Kitchener. When u enter, the friendly staff greet you with a smile and as family. The ambience provides a relaxing and kick back feeling, never rushed and never pushy. The food, is amazing. Not over the top, flavourful, fresh and homestyle. Daily fresh made muffins, home style bread, tasty turkey sausage, omelettes made to order, homemade jam, etc... It is ALWAYs our GO TO for brunch and we are treated like family. I was getting up to to tell them we were leaving just as they came running with our dishes: two scrambles. There was two cooks and three servers and nobody bothered to refill our coffees. We came here for brunch on a Sunday. Overall the meal experience was very good, but it would have been much better if we didn't have to wait 30 minutes for our food when the restaurant wasn't even full. We enjoyed the variety of options on the menu. In particular, the potato pancakes is an inventive way to serve potatoes (instead of hash browns or fries). The smoothies were also quite good. We also liked the overall ambience of the old building and high ceilings. Having spent 2 months looking for the best breakfast place in Downtown Kitchener, I believe I have found the spot. Open at 7:00 am, I am greeted by a "hello and good morning" by the friendly owners and the breakfast has always been made with the best ingredients. I particularly like the added touch of the house made jam that is the perfect accompaniment for my multigrain toast. I am sure I will be back for lunch soon. read more

My friends and I happen to fine this place. I am very judge mental when It comes to a good breakfast restaurant. I had the farmers omelette. It came with you choice of bread and potato pancake, homemade strawberry and rhubarb jam. So breakfast was really good. Wild mushroom soup, boxty, and other things! nice atmosphere and a bunch of the old Rum Runner staff make it cozy. This is one of the hidden gems in the city. It's a diner but it's better quality food than your average diner. I've been a few times and enjoyed the Rosie scrambler as well as a chimichanga (which was a special of the day). They will take good care of you, like keep your coffee mug full. Be prepared for a leisurely meal - it's a place you go if you're socializing for awhile and/or have time for your meal. read more
