We stopped by for a quick drink and bite after seeing this place recommended in the Coffee Passport for K dubs, but unfortunately it ended up being a major letdown. We ordered two iced lattes: raspberry and lavender. They were ok, but nothing particularly memorable regarding the roasted beans they used. The bamboo straws were also frustratingly flimsy and kept breaking, which was especially annoying since the syrups settled at the bottom and you really needed the straws to mix the drinks properly. The major issue was the food service. We ordered a cinnamon bun and the Pregnant Sasquatch sandwich alongside our drinks, then waited nearly 30 minutes while watching people who ordered after us receive their food. When I finally went up to ask, it turned out the cashier had forgotten to send our order to the kitchen. This was stressful since we had an appointment in Toronto later in the afternoon. The cinnamon bun was then handed to us, which was sitting on the counter the whole time. Another 15 minutes later, a staff member came over to tell us they had run out of the artisan bun for the sandwich, so we had to choose an alternative. At that point, after all the delays and confusion, it honestly felt like some kind of compensation would've been appropriate. I ended up switching to sourdough bread. After waiting yet another 10 minutes, I asked if we could just cancel the sandwich altogether. The cashier assured us it was coming, and it finally arrived about 5 minutes later. To be fair, when I asked what happened, the cashier explained that they were very busy. But - there wasn't even much of a line when we placed our order, so the explanation didn't really add up. And unfortunately, after nearly an hour of waiting and spending around $30 on drinks and food, the sandwich itself was mid at best, Overall, the experience just didn't live up to the hype, and we probably won't be back. read more

I saw this place kind of randomly. There i something about this place that reminds me of places I have been to in like Olympia Washington or Oregon. Ambiance - I definitely liked the vibe of this place. I liked that they gave us a my little pony to mark our table when we sat down. I liked the wall which had tree stumps painted with glitter and different paints. I liked the restaurant seemed like it was in a little house that had been converted. There were a lot of things about this place I liked 5/5 Service - My partner went up and ordered at the counter. The people who work here seem pretty interesting. They seemed .. polite. I also felt like vaguely not welcome. Was it because I was wearing like a golf shirt because I was headed to see a play in stratford that morning, instead of like .. something else? The person for instance handed my partner their latte, and just kinda dropped mine in front of me without saying anything. 3/5 Food - The food was not very good. I ordered this trout lox dish. I liked all of the ingredients of the dish by itself, but I didn't like it together. The fish seemed like it came from a can, the tomatoes were nicely done. I didn't like the bagel it was on. The whole thing had too much on it to pick up and bite through, but the toppings plus the bagel were too hard to cut through with the cutlery that was provided. The potatoes that my partner was given were cold, flavorless, and seemed stale. Maybe I should have gone with a sandwhich? 2/5 Drinks - These were fantastic. I got a cardmom latte and my partner got a lavender latte. Both drinks were done so well, I could really taste the cardmom in my drink. The lavender really came through in a very good way. The mugs they served the drinks in were cute. The drinks were definitely worth it. 5/5 I think maybe this place is more of a sandwich place than a breakfast place? Maybe I would have been happier if I got sandwich's to go? I don't know, I really want to like this place, but there were big flaws in my experience. This averages out to be 3.75 out of 5, which I will bump up to a 4. Though honestly, my partner really thinks i should have given this place a 2 or a 3 because the food quality was not good. read more

I think that is cool they have the same service as Cafe Pyrus they give you a toy when you are waiting for your order. The Ambiance is very quiet and peaceful. Stopped here for breakfast/lunch on a Sunday. I ordered the collard green wrap, and replaced the smoked turkey with the vegan coconut bacon. Had the half and half on the side (salad and hashbrowns). Got the buddha salad dressing which was really tasty, and the potatoes were spot on as well, especially when dipped in that orange sauce that came with the wrap (no clue what the sauce was, but it was delicious). Had a cappuccino as well. Everything was going great, until I got to the end of the first half of my wrap, and was chewing when I realized I was chewing on something quite hard. It turned out to be a twist-tie. Not exactly ideal to imagine that I almost ate a piece of metal wrapped in plastic. I told a staff there, and she was very apologetic and helped me look at the other half to make sure there wasn't another one lurking about. She also gave me a coupon to use for next time, but I'm not from the area so not sure if I'll be back. Besides that, had a great time. Patio was awesome, as was atmosphere and friendly staff. Would've given it four stars if not for the twist-tie in my wrap. read more

Was in Kitchener for a business meeting and found this place on Yelp thankfully. Feels and looks very West Coast, maybe somewhat Kensington Market. Friendly service and average prices were noted. A town like Kitchener needs a place like this in order to make it more Hipster approved. There are even Yetis welded into the staircase railings. Food was of a high quality and coffee was great. I absolutely love the Yeti! I go almost every weekend after the market for a breakfast sandwich - the pregnant cowgirl and pregnant sasquatch are my favourites - and a coffee. Their coffee is always delicious. I usually get it with a splash of (local, delicious) milk. I especially love their iced coffee, where the ice cubes are actually made of coffee so it's not watered down!! The service is always friendly and kind. I cannot recommend Yeti enough! read more

This place is definitely worth a stopover if you're looking for a quick fix of local, delicious vegetables and bread. I also had their "meatless" fennel sausage, and they managed to pack it with enough complex flavor to keep it interesting and satisfying. The pregnant Sasquatch (still the strangest sandwich name) was delightfully light, yet still filling. The crisp crunch of the bread against the soft richness of the tomato and avocado really light this dish up! With both cozy indoor and airy patio options, this was a very restful way to spend a morning, especially right off of a flight. Will definitely come back! read more

Delicious, thoughtful food. I came in on Sunday looking for a tasty brunch and I was impressed. I had their Brekky, where you choose 4 items from a list of ingredients. I had: 2 sunny side up eggs, sweet potato hash, peameal bacon and salad. So let's imagine eating fluffy hash with perfectly runny eggs. Damn, that hit the spot. And, then let's talk about the salad. I didn't know what I was in for, and am typically disappointed when I get served iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of carrot and slices of unripe tomatoes. That's what most places call "salad". Not here! They served a tasty mix of spinach and leafy greens, bean spouts, bits of beets and a pesto dressing. It was so refreshing to see that the salad got as much love & thought as everything else on the plate. Skip Coras, come here instead. The interior is unassuming. The food is fabulous. What a lovely spot. A cozy interior with a small patio outside (although today wasn't exactly patio season). 5 of us sat down to eat and everyone's food looked amazing. I personally ordered the pregnant Sasquatch, which I felt was almost mandatory to order at a place called "The Yeti". It was a breakfast sandwich stuffed with fresh and tasty ingredients. The arugula and sliced tomato gave it an earthiness while the garlic aioli, cheddar cheese, and beautifully cooked egg gave this breakfast sammy the body it needed. Loved every bite, even though it got a bit messy. I was also lucky enough to get one of my friends buckwheat pancakes along with some yogurt to go with it. The pancake was fluffy with oats on top and the yogurt was sweet with the right amount of acidity. Great meal, good prices, service with a smile. A definite five star rating. I would gladly come back and eat here again (hopefully on the patio on a slightly warmer day!). read more

The food was decent. Had a pregnant cowgirl. It was tasty, but not a revelation. I could do this at home. The service was... odd. My wife and I walked in, and were greeted with "Where's your dog?". The odd girl behind the counter clearly felt we look like a yuppie couple, lacking only a Labrador to complete our lives. Nothing like a little judgment as a greeting. She was asked by a few other guests to turn her "music" down, which she did grudgingly, and with attitude. Music is in quotes, because it wasn't. It was a series of clicking, squealing noises, with a high pitched tinnitus whine over top. It was headache inducing. Our just fine sandwiches were delivered while she meowed at us (as though speaking, inflection and all, but meowing), and as we walked out, she insisted on hollering after us that she hoped we'd come back, unless we died first. It was all delivered with a condescending tone, as though she was aware of some joke that we weren't. Completely detracted from our experience. It's a bit loud for serious working on weekends, also really difficult to secure a table.I adore the music! Weekdays are usually more peaceful. They have free wifi and it's a great place to hang out with friends before or after going to the Kitchener Farmer's Market. Several varieties of bread, bagels, and pretzels are also offered. Great coffee and good food. It is extremely small and can get crowded and very loud, but is fun and quirky. I've been in a few times and have had a good experience each time. The Pregnant Sasquatch is quite good, but the egg was not what I was expecting - it was fried and the yolk was not runny. For some reason, I was picturing a medium poached egg with a lovely yolk... Their veggie chili is amazing! The Bob is a little messy with the mayo squeezing out the sides and the top. The bun was way too small for the rest of the sandwich. read more

Had a brunch here recently. I totally dig this place. It's pretty small but quite charming. The staff and other patrons were all super friendly. It felt like hanging out with friends. You may have to scramble a bit around their hours, and you may have to shed some blood to get a seat, but the Yeti is a fabulous new cafe that really, REALLY shares the love. This itty bitty little spot by the Market serves an array of baked goods from both established brands and local creators, rotating coffee brews, and a large menu of sandwiches, all made from scratch and loaded with fresh ingredients. Celebrating local food as well as healthy choices, they offer Paleo options, vegan options, and are happy (as in MORE than happy) to accommodate any food concerns you may have. Believe me, even when working for a health food store, dealing with everyone's little allergies and food habits were really stressful, even frustrating at times. The staff here are not only willing to work with any preferences I may have, they seem eager to do it. When I say there's lots of love in here, there is quite literally, lots of love. This is not a place to go if you're in a super duper rush, but that's not the point of this place. The limited staff takes time with their customers at the till, and preps their food with care, so that when it finally arrives, you can tell they really spent their time with it. If you're lucky enough to snag a table, then whip out your laptop for some creative time. The Yeti's decor is very much a hodge podge of both knick knacks that create the vibe of a mountain area (old snowshoes, garage sale style paintings of wildnerness) and also vintage/homeyness, even if a little 70s-80s style with their furniture. You really just gotta love the charm. For all of that, I am quite willing to make the venture every time. Looking forward to this spot for a long time to come. read more

Heard about this place from girlfriend's Sister. She is a big foodie so I usually trust her recommendations - she missed the mark here. Place is kinda dirty but whatever, that's the vibe they're going for. Ordered a coffee, pregnant cowgirl sandwich, and a cinnamon bun. Coffee is coffee - no complaints there. Pregnant cowgirl left a lot to be desired. Bagel was stale, avocado was but over ripe and mushy. Bacon was nice and crispy but the egg was a bit over cooked for my liking. I asked for the cinnamon to be heated and it was put in the microwave. I didn't receive it before my sandwich so I thought they were waiting until I was finished it. Waited for about 5 minutes until they realized they forgot it. Got up to ask the server and they pulled the bun out of the microwave. By this point it was already cold and had that mushy texture of something that has been microwaved. Not sure if I had a one-off bad experience but this place was disappointing. I think their cinnamon buns are supposed to be their saving grace, however they are not even made in-house but at a bakery down the street. Just go there instead. read more
