Visited here from out of town on Boxing Day. Breakfast was delicious, and the service was great. An all around great diner experience.

I have an indifferent opinion to Peter M.'s review, this is a very independent hole in the wall diner, offering one lady servicing all the tables in the restaurant. (Peter M you're a great person- I just don't agree with you =) ) To be very frank many breakfast places are overrun by chain restaurants and Toasters is one of the few locations that are non-franchised with pretty affordable options. For $6 you can get two eggs, toast (rye, brown or white with jam and butter) and homemade hash. Add $1.50 and you have meat added on the breakfast. Let me just remind you this is pandemic rates! And looking at Peter M.'S review on price from 6 years ago- it hasn't moved to much! Even when egg princes have moved from $2/dozen to $4-5/dozen. I stopped in for a meeting and often passed this place but never visited. It's situated at the end of Eagle, just after it changes from Pinebush. The humble diner is situated next to gas station. The parking lot is beaten with faded paint lines and a old fashion sign tells you it's a diner. When you enter, you walk right into the middle of the restaurant where the one server can see you and seat you immediately. What's nice is that the place has about a dozen of tables, a little snug for trollers and walkers but workable. It's just one server for ALL the tables and she was scurrying through. When I arrived 3min late for my meeting, I could see my client waving me in the window- I did not need to go through a whole pack of "security guard " waitresses to get to my table- it's a townie type of vibe. The interior is dated with tables that are functional. You can see the paint slapped on the edge of the black paint, likely to cover the cute messages teenagers left over the years. The chairs are old fashion but not restrictive to your size- you could be plus size and still get your bum into the seats. The portion for two eggs, toast, hash and three pieces of sausage for $7.50 was the same size as the $12 grand slam at Denny's. So it's gigantic. So if you're a little eater, $6 is plenty. What I like is if you ask for something to take away, the server is immediate to substitute it to not rob you of an item. During my dine- I was asked asked how my meal was while coffee was topped off for the other people at the table, and it was a quick hurry in and out as the server navigated around the strollers from the next table, the cute boyfriend and girlfriend and the young at heart friends sitting nearby. I arrived at 9am, bill was paid at 10am, we still meeting chatted right until 10:30am. I'm pretty sure if you had 30min it was possible to be in and out. Truly a hidden gem and for anyone who wants some small time vibe I will definitely return. I used to be a regular at the Fifties but somehow they seem to be some busy, loud and hiked their prices. This place is quant and I can get a nice meeting in, chat about life and the big plans to make it through 2023. Check this place out if you want small time vibes and more. Sometimes you just want a regular breakfast. That's what this place offers. Ran into several locals who are established repeat diners. Place was clean, food was simple and service was good. Had a cup of coffee, water and a Canadian breakfast. Solid no frills place to stop and eat. read more

Big meeting out in Cambridge - I know...Cambridge...QQF...what could be so big that I had a big meeting there! Can't tell you, or someone will kill you...I am saving all of you by not telling you what it was! :P Nonetheless, big meetings can not be had without Breakie! Looked around for a place to have it and TADA! Toasters! Decent review and it's not McD Clown Food. Headed down and had Farmers Sausage breakfast. It was nothing spectacular. Just your standard fare - except the potatoes. I was hoping for good ole hash browns but they were french fries cut into cubes. Face-Palm! About $8 for the meal and ...OMG! They charge me for coffee $2-ish! It was pretty weak - when I expected coffee so stiff, you could stand a spoon in it! Dragged my @$$ around all day. No caffeine buzz to help...! Love this little place, amazing breakfast for a great price! The only thing is that they may want to do some dusting, I ordered sausages and there were a bunch of little hairs and particles on them, it was like dust fell on them or got stuck to them as the server walked through the inside air with our food. The decor could be a little more cohesive as well. Overall great experience, especially excellent service! read more

I have never seen an omelette so large. It had to be 5-6 eggs, and it was loaded with goodies. The eggs benedict were quite good, and the coffee refills just kept coming and coming, I doubt my cup was ever less than 3/4 full. Very good prices, limited seating, great service. read more

Stopped in for breakfast on my way to London. This is a retro diner where locals have been satisfying themselves for decades. The menu is full of the standards, and they do them well. I had the corned beef hash, which was okay. the potatoes were cubed and fried, not grated as usual, so it gave the dish a heavier and less cohesive flavour because the ingredients seemed to be cooked separately. The polish sausage and eggs was much better. The sausage was great - a little bit of spice and a decent size portion. The home fries were pretty good, too. Yeah, i'll eat here again! read more

Toasters is the perfect little diner for breakfast, dinner, or lunch. The food is great, and the service is good. Big portions, be prepared to eat! Its not that expensive. It always seems to be busy when I go, so if you have a group you might want to call it in. The breakfast is one of the best in Cambridge, with a lot of food and bacon! Lunch and dinner are similar. Toasters is the closest restaurant to my neighbourhood, so I find I often overlook it just because it's right under my nose. Anytime I've gone I've usually been quite happy with the food. They are a very popular place for breakfast, so much so that I rarely go then because I don't like the wait. Going at dinner time it's usually a lot less busy, but that doesn't mean the food is any less good. The last time around I got the BBQ bacon cheeseburger and it was quite good. This is the type of place that nails the basics, so they have really good fries and amazing gravy. They have daily specials on the chalkboard when you come in, often they are pretty good deals. I saw a review for this restaurant awhile back and had to try it out. Toasters serves a hot and cheap breakfast all day. It is cheaper to go during the week just like any other restaurant. It is $3.75 for choice of meat, 2 eggs, potatoes and toast. Most people agree you cannot have too much bacon, u get like 6 pieces of it. As for the potatoes they are hand cut in quite irregular shapes and then deep fried, so delicious. Best advice is to go during the week, because u will have to wait for a table if u go on the weekend. enjoy. read more

One star is too much for this place. CLEAN UP !!!!!!!!! There is fruit flies the menu is falling apart and sticky and so is the tables, the chairs material should be retired as it is coming off . Went for breakfast with my son he was hungry otherwise I would of get back in the car. I am surprised that the food police has not shut that dive down yet. Great family diner. On a road trip, found this place on Yelp. We had respectively the daily $4.25 eggs, bacon, home fries and toast, and French toast. They do lunches too. Enjoyed the food and down home atmosphere. Casual, cheap and cheerful. Will definitely visit again when in the area. read more

We ordered a cattleman burger, onion soup, wings for lunch. Portions were large, like others have Yelped. Overall, food was mediocre. Soup was very salty - left me gasping for water the rest of the afternoon - and just used cheddar cheese. Filling, but average diner grub. Service was very good. read more

This has to be the worst time I've ever went to a diner. My friend and I had to wait 10 minutes before the lady even came to notice us, and it wasn't like the place was busy. Finally we got our drinks, the food was another 30 minute wait, which yes can be understandable. Once we were finished we asked if they had any deserts and the lady said no, so whatever we order milkshakes to go, the lady rolled her eyes and said no we don't do that. I noticed that they had to to coffee cups and asked her to put them in that of it was okay, she once again rolled her eyes and said sure! Haley went to add an extra milk shake to bring home to her boyfriend and the lady snapped and said I'm too busy to make another one the restaurant is to full to deal with this... I was so taken back by this... The worst part was because the lady couldn't fit the milk shake into one cup she decided it would be a great idea to charge is for four instead of two... Found this little gem via yelp and had to try it as the reviews I read made it sound like a great place to have breakfast. Brought my wife and two girls and the food was fantastic and the portions are enormous so ensure you bring a big appetite. The service was the best I've had in years and my coffee cup never was empty. Fully recommend this place to anyone. We will be back. read more
