The food here was okay, but the customer service was so off-putting that it overshadowed the meal for me. We came in for a simple and relatively quick brunch. I ordered one drink for myself and the two of us ordered two basic egg dishes (an omelette and classic breakfast with practically no substitutions and requests). We then waited almost an hour, even though the restaurant was only half full. No one informed us of any delays, and when I mentioned I was in a rush for an appointment, the waitress insisted the food was "10 minutes away," which wasn't true. When I later directly asked the waitress to cancel the order and bring the cheque just for the drink, her apology felt insincere and was followed by a defensive explanation rather than accountability ("I wasn't aware you were in a rush"). At that point, I didn't really want to argue, I just wanted to pack up the food that finally came (although it was strangely already cold) and pay. We also found it strange that they wanted to charge an extra $1 just to serve the potato sauce on the side, even though it already comes with the dish, which we found to be odd This was just a simple dietary accommodation request to not coat potatoes in sauce but only serve a little on the side, we're not asking for anything in addition to the meal. Memphis Benedict is a top recommendation! The BBQ pork at the bottom is sweet yet tender, incredibly juicy, and the accompanying potatoes are also fried perfectly, coated in sauce! Heaven on Earth's French toast is also highly recommended! The bread is incredibly soft, filled with berries and cream cheese. Sharing it between two people makes it less overwhelming. Fried chicken and waffles are a must-order for my brunch. The chicken here is quite tender, and the portion is really huge. The two of us ate three bowls and were completely stuffed. The restaurant's safety measures are quite good; there's social distancing during dine-in, and the service is very friendly. I plan to try other dishes next time. read more

The staff were friendly and there was a good number of seating available but be sure to book a table prior at it fills up quickly. The food was good and fresh and the coffee was brewed well. Had been running around Toronto for most the day and my partner was locked in on having breakfast food before so she found this spot on Yelp that was close to our hotel on Bloor Street. The brunch ended at 3pm and we were able to place our orders just in time. We shared some French toasts and ordered two entrees, 3 egg omelette w/ caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, pesto, spinach, cheese and classic Benedict w/ bacon. The omelette came with potatoes w/ tomatoes based sauce and a small salad. The waitress was super cool and helpers to speed things along for us as we were starving. Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Luckily my girlfriend made reservations as this place is insanely busy, like out the door busy. Ordered the Traditional (19) which came with eggs, toast, bacon, homefries and salad. It was pretty average. I would prefer going to an actual diner over a place like this. Everything was just ok. They mention in the menu that the homefries are with their "legendary sauce", highkey just tastes like ketchup. Instead of a side of pancakes or waffles as with other diners its a pathetic piece of rye bread cut in half. Service was slow overall, took them a while to get us cutlery and water set up. They do have a student discount of 20% so make sure you show student ID if eligible, which makes the price a bit better. Just meh, and busy. Probably not coming back. read more

One of my favourite brunch spots in Toronto. Main reasons are: 1) Coffee is really good. They add a hint of cinnamon which is a nice touch. 2) Usually there's a line on weekends. But they have a great line management system so you can browse the nearby stores, and receive a text when the seat is available. 3) The hash browns are very good, along with the hot sauce. Most brunch spots taste pretty similar, but I like Insomnias unique sauces to the hash brown. 4) great value. The dishes come with good variety. Other places will just be the egg/bread/hashbrown, but insomnia adds some veggies too. read more

My sweets found this place and yes, it was a good pick. This place was a cool vibe with the artwork inside and cool seating throughout. We were seated right away which was a plus. I did peak at reviews and photos before coming so I kind of had an idea of what I wanted. I was so happy with my pick. Service was good and friendly. Went here based on an online recommendation that had it listed as a great brunch spot with my husband and friends. We made a reservation for the weekend for brunch. One of the big pulls to the restaurant was that it has a lot of gluten free options! I had the eggs Benedict with salmon named charlotte on the menu. It came with a side of mixed salad and potatoes. Overall it was ok - nothing spectacular. The salmon and Benny sauce were both bland. The potatoes were covered in ketchup which was not something that not everyone could enjoy as well. My husband had an omelette which was once again underwhelming. I left feeling surprised that this restaurant actually made it to a recommended brunch spot list actually because it is not somewhere that I could see myself wanting to go again. Went for brunch here today and the food was okay but there was little transparency with the costs. I asked to substitute jalapeños for mushrooms and the waitress said she could do it. However, when i got the bill, it was an up charge for the jalapeños. Then I added the andouille sausage to my omelette which said +$3 on the menu. She recommended it on the side so i said sure unknowing it was an $8 charge. There was a $1.50 charge for the gluten free bread but I knew about that charge only because I directly asked how much extra it would be. I heard this place get very crowded, but my group arrived pretty early (around 11:30am to be exact. As soon as you walk in ya can feel the great atmosphere. Light chatter, smiles on faces, and the cheery attitude that everyone had. The food was equally as good. The Heaven on Earth was delectable. The fresh berries really brought the whole thing together. I also have to point out that whatever is in that "special sauce" on the potatoes is addicting. Hint of spice I could not identify. This place also has a wide selection of drink and mimosa flavors. I might have had 5 to go with the meal, and they put me in a great place. Lastly the service was great. Judging from the line and the incredible wait time, I figured that this would be a better experience. We got to the restaurant around 1pm and had about a 40 minute. There was a break in the rain, so we were able to pop in and out of some establishments on the street while we waited, no biggie. I liked the lounge atmosphere in the back, but the seating was awfully uncomfortable. My friend to the left was slumped back into a couch, my friend to the right was higher up than both of us in her chair, and I had to lean forward because my chair had a lean to it. If I had a choice we would have sat in the traditionally dining area near the front. I ordered the 3 Egg Omelette + bacon. The majority of it contained onions and mushrooms that didn't mix well with the egg so the inside had a soggy texture. I love exploring Toronto Restaurants. I mainly chose to come here because when I checked the menu online, I was happy to see that there was a vegan option available. When you first enter it is very narrow and looks small but it actually goes quite far back. We came here on a Saturday around 11 and I highly recommend reservations because it can get quote packed. We were seated at a coffee table like setting on sofa chairs but it was actually quite comfortable. As a vegan it's very hard to find vegan options for breakfast so I knew I had to order their tofu rancheros. It was served with guac and their fried potatoes on the side. The tofu rancheros was actually curried but it was delicious and went well with the fried tortillas. Came for a friend's birthday, and I thought it was unique, considering downtown, that such a quaint and homey restaurant was capable of sitting a party of 15+. However, this was the only positive of my experience here. I got the small mixed greens & root vegetables salad, which was lacklustre in taste. There was no dressing, and I tasted only 2 pieces of butternut squash. It was not filling at all, and consisted of mainly only salad leaves. My friends got the Insomnia burger and it was a tiny burger that did not even come with a side! Considering the price of the burger ($14), I think it should be customary to include a side. Other than the limited quantity and low quality of food, the service was horrible; our waitress was so rude! We thought it might be because of the fact that tip is automatically added onto the bill of a large party, as we saw her have a friendlier demeanour with other tables.
