Love this gem. I only get the chicken n waffles. The way the "home fries" are done is tits. Always a great meal when I go and I always leave happy. That's important. Great Cesar's as well. The service is good as well. Even when they get busy they still great you and try to seat you. The window seats are great for solo or a breakfast date but in the direct sunlight can get uncomfortable. High tops in the back are best spots I think. read more

This is a great brunch spot in the junction that oozer charm and coziness matched with an awesome, slightly southetn inspired menu. Out group tried the Biscuits and gravy, shrimp Benny and brisket Benny as well as fried green tomato, kids apple johnny cakes and grilled cheese. The portions are generous. The chicken with the biscuits and gravy were 2 pieces of brined dark meat chicken served on a biscuit and collards smothered in pork gravy. Chicken was very juicy and super crunchy, collard needed some acidity, biscuit was light but a little overdone and gravy was not as fat a decadent than in the south, lighter but still tasty, wish they poured it a little more generously. The fried green tomato was outstanding as the accompany silly aioli situation was great. Kids apple jonnycakes were a hit and loved the hot chocolate with mini marshmallows for the kiddos. Gtilled cheese was a hit - got the pull and the bread was well toasted. The home fries were a bit of a let down. Although very cool and layered, they seemed very greasy, maybe oil or flattop wasn't hot enough? Benny's were both good, shrimp cake was well cooked and crisp and brisket was flavourful and moist. Hey have no waiting area and take no reservations. Use their call ahead service and enjoy read more

If you don't get anything here, you have to get the fried potatoes!! They're deliciousssssss. Everyone pretty much enjoyed their food, but the French toast. They said it was very doughy. The drinks were really good and the service was quick. I'd get there early because there's not many seats. It's a small homey restaurant read more

Really great brunch! We came here on a weekday morning and there were still plenty of seats. We both got the salmon eggs benny. I got the spicy fries as a side and my bf got the home fries which I was a huge fan of. The home fries are like packed sliced potatoes that are fried afterwards. They were SO GOOD. We had the eggs benny with fresh pepper and salt. I also got a chai latte which was very tasty. I wasn't a huge fan of having the salmon with the pancake as it was a bit too heavy for me but I still liked the combination. There was also a hint of sweetness so it was a hint of sweet and savoury. Service was great and the restaurant is so cute and lowkey. read more

Something Benny is always a great idea! This brunch spot has some of the best breakfast potatoes in not only the junction, but Toronto! Also, BLUEBERRY SWEET'CAKES- vegan & gluten free. Hands down the best gluten free pancakes I've ever had. Service is great, they're only open for a small window of time and they don't take reservations. You have to go on a waitlist unless you get there early or you get lucky, because of this short window, the service is always fantastic and the severs are on it! Ambiance is a nice hole in the wall met by locals, mostly couples, sometimes families read more

This is my go-to brunch spot in the Junction, especially if I want to impress! Everything is made with care and attention, and is downright delicious! Portions are generous too! It's very popular and cramped inside (but not uncomfortable), so do give yourself enough time, get on the waitlist go for a stroll through the neighbourhood and get back out front when you're number 1 or 2! read more

What a gem of a restaurant! My wife and I are always on the hunt for the perfect combination of great food and excellent service - and we were lucky enough to stumble onto both with Dirty Food Eatery! Drawn in by the enticing menu and the stellar reviews, we set our sights on the Brunch menu, specifically something I've never tried before but always wanted to: Chicken 'n' Waffle - Buttermilk fried chicken on a 1/2 waffle w whipped honey butter, candied jalapeños, jalapeño syrup and spicy pickled peaches. For our choice of side, we'd heard nothing but rave reviews for their home fries - which were no ordinary home fries: "thin sliced buttery layers of potato goodness, baked then fried". Our fates were sealed! And what a plate of comforting goodness it was. Everything worked beautifully together - even the pickled peaches, about which I'd had my doubts. But they provided the perfect acidic counterpoint to all the sweet and spicy richness. BUT, as always, great food means absolutely nothing without great service - you might lure us in with your tantalizing menu, but that doesn't guarantee we'll return. Thankfully, our server, Sienna, was terrific! She was friendly and attentive, calm and efficient amidst the steady flow of hungry patrons, but still taking her time to make sure we felt like welcome guests rather than irritating intrusions (as is so often the case these days). We had passing encounters with a couple of the other staff who were equally as friendly, though I didn't catch their names. What a place - loved the food! Loved the service! We'll definitely be making a return visit at the earliest opportunity! read more

Dirty Food Eatery is a catchy name. The food contradicts it. This is a nice cafe in what feels like an artsy part of Toronto. I started a Saturday morning off getting my fill before having a day of running around the city. I ordered a brisket benny that surprised me. I'm talking smoked BBQ beef brisket on a potato pancake topped poached eggs and hollandaise. I had heard about their fries, so I had a side of fries with the benny. Totally blown away. I washed it down with an iced latte. Like most breakfast and brunch spots, this one packs out quickly. I arrived shortly after the doors opened and had been sitting for all of about 15 minutes before the place got flooded with patrons. That being said, get there early. It's evident that they get a lot of patrons because the food and service are outstanding. read more

This is a great little hole in the wall gem. We tried the brisket Benny, French toast, and fried green tomatoes! The potatoes are like nothing I have had before. Thinly sliced potatoes layered and sliced into blocks and fried and seasoned to perfection. Service was amazing. We would come here often if we lived in the area. Highly recommend!! read more

A little popular brunch spot located in The Junction known for homestyled comfort food, and a menu that changes regularly. They don't take reservations here, but you can join the waitlist on Yelp, which gives you an estimated wait time for a table, making it pretty handy for those who live in the area so they can plan when to leave the house. The atmosphere here is pretty chill, but a bit noisy due to the small space.  I had to make an effort to speak louder to have a conversation. The food is served in very good portions, and well priced. I loved the asparagus and potato rosti eggs benedict dish I ordered. All the flavours within my dish blended nicely together, and I really enjoyed the balasamic hollandaise combination.  The staff here were all friendly, but because this place can be pretty busy, it can sometimes be hard to get the attention of someone, or may need to wait a bit for service. read more

I was absolutely delighted by this restaurant. The one thing that you do need to know, is that the guest list can get incredibly long. If you have not made a reservation in advance, a 2-hour wait would not be that out of the norm on a Sunday brunch. Even with the reservation, it can take a little bit of time unless you have really planned in advance. However, it's all done through an app, which means that there is nothing stopping you from putting your reservation in and wandering the beautiful neighborhood until you got a notification that your time has come. I can only speak to what I had, which was the Apple pancakes. When they came, they came with such a tiny bottle of syrup, but I was assured that there would be more syrup if such a need should arrive. Normally, I go through a lot of syrup to deal with the overly dry pancakes that needs something to support them. However, not here. By the end, with all of the delicious sauce, and goo, and added flavors, and whatever else was thrown on top, it was a superb treat that left me with syrup still in the small bottle. This is something that I do not think has ever happened before. It should also be noted, that after this meal I did not need to eat for the rest of the day. Those are some serious pancakes! read more

We called to add our reservation to the waitlist. Once we arrived, we had been taken off the list. That's how it started. We were a party of 6 and sat at a high top table. It was cramped and quite hot - maybe the AC wasn't working that day or maybe they don't have it? The server came to take our drink order. We were ready to order our food after waiting extra time from the reservation snafu, but she quipped that "I'm only taking drink orders right now." From there, the meal couldn't save what had already been several misteps. Didn't even care that much that the wrong form of potatoes came with one of our orders - they fixed it quickly but the energy of our party was basically, let's eat and get outta here (and never come back). It's a shame because my husband and I have come here for years, and we love the food. But every other aspect during this latest visit when we brought our out-of-town guests ruined it for even us. Not sure we'll be back anytime soon. Maybe a second chance later on down the line after some time has passed, but this visit just left a bad taste in our mouths, and it wasn't the food. Maybe take it to go..? read more

Friendly, welcoming, down-to-earth service. DELICIOUS burger, pickled veg salad, and (incredible, unique) home fries. The best breakfast/ brunch hands down. Never disappoints. Greatest ever. Will be back again and again.

Do yourself a favor and grab a breakfast buddy and come here. We split two dishes, one sweet and one savory. Dessert first, the Apple Johnny Cakes are out of this world delicious. These fluffy hot cakes melt the sweet cream on top faster than you can eat them. An excellent portion of apple butter complimented the dish, as did the granola chunks and powdered sugar that danced around the plate. Nothing beats those chunks of cinnamon apples in the middle of the cakes. We also enjoyed the Patas Bravas. These exceeded my expectations. They come as a generous mound of smothered potatoes topped with what looks like a farm-fresh egg. The side salad is perfect for cutting those starchy carbs. I would rate the coffee as average. Nothing wrong with it, but it would not stand out on its own. Service was attentive to our needs, but not overbearing. A great meal overall. read more

I have to give 5 stars because the food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond. They close at 3PM and we arrived at 2:40PM, I had no hope of being able to eat here because they were so close to closing. We went in and asked them if it was possible, he said let me check and they let us stay and eat. I was shocked because most kitchens close 30 minutes prior but they chose to accommodate us. So thank you to the lovely staff for going above and beyond, it was a lovely gesture. He handed us the menu, told us the specials and let us take our time in ordering. I ordered the Johnny Cakes which was literally apple pie pancakes (had the crumble, cooked apples and an apple sauce). The pancakes were delicious, cooked perfectly, warm and tasted like an apple pie. The restaurant is small, intimate and cozy. It felt like you were eating with family. read more

Today is my birthday and we wanted to get some breakfast so we tried something newish. We came over 2 years ago and were craving it again. Everything was perfect. Price was reasonable, food was out if this world, service was perfect and atmosphere was spot on. When we came there was an hour wait, we came around 1045 on a Sunday. The owner asked if we wanted to sit at the bar, it would be shorter. It took us 5 mins to get sat and seeing the kitchen work was great. Spent about 65 for 2 people in Toronto which is normal. Be prepared to wait if you go, call before and put your name on wait list. Trust me it will be worth it. Owners are local and super helpful and friendly read more

Got a chance to eat here twice with my sister. If you want to skip the line up, definitely come here during the weekday (excluding Wednesday)! Food: The home fries are the most scrumptious and tastiest, if you know of better home fries send me a message! I wish I knew what spices they put in there. I have tried the Eggs Jenny and Chicken'n'Waffle'wich thus far, I will speak about two dishes recently tried below: Salmon Jonny - A classic salmon eggs benedict sounds simple and boring but not this one. What sets this apart from the classic are a few things. The salmon is beet-cured, the flavour and texture complements the poached eggs. I do not know how to explain it unfortunately. Instead of English muffin, the base is their signature pancake (Jonny cakes). The fried capers adds a fun crunchy and slight salty element to the overall eggs benny. Apple Jonny Cakes - This sweet breakfast item is better shared amoung two or even three people. Tasted like a pancake version of a hearty apple crumble with oat clusters. Service & atmosphere: As soon as we walked in the staff did not come to greet us right away, they were busy so it is understandable. The view to the kitchen is open, so you can see all the action if you are seated close. It is a casual restaurant. Price: Appropriate for the neighbourhood. Next time I come here, I will try the breakfast'wich! read more

Pretty good but perhaps slightly overrated hipster joint. The chicken waffles were great except that the drumstick was raw toward the bone.

I grew up in the area, and was visiting from the US with my son. The quality of the food was great, priced reasonably. Very busy, reserve online or prepaid to wait 30min to an hour.
