Out group tried the Biscuits and gravy, shrimp Benny and brisket Benny as well as fried green tomato, kids apple johnny cakes and grilled cheese. The portions are generous. The chicken with the biscuits and gravy were 2 pieces of brined dark meat chicken served on a biscuit and collards smothered in pork gravy. Chicken was very juicy and super crunchy, collard needed some acidity, biscuit was light but a little overdone and gravy was not as fat a decadent than in the south, lighter but still tasty, wish they poured it a little more generously. The fried green tomato was outstanding as the accompany silly aioli situation was great. Kids apple jonnycakes were a hit and loved the hot chocolate with mini marshmallows for the kiddos. Gtilled cheese was a hit - got the pull and the bread was well toasted. The home fries were a bit of a let down. Although very cool and layered, they seemed very greasy, maybe oil or flattop wasn't hot enough? Benny's were both good, shrimp cake was well cooked and crisp and brisket was flavourful and moist. Really great brunch! We came here on a weekday morning and there were still plenty of seats. We both got the salmon eggs benny. I got the spicy fries as a side and my bf got the home fries which I was a huge fan of. The home fries are like packed sliced potatoes that are fried afterwards. They were SO GOOD. We had the eggs benny with fresh pepper and salt. I also got a chai latte which was very tasty. I wasn't a huge fan of having the salmon with the pancake as it was a bit too heavy for me but I still liked the combination. There was also a hint of sweetness so it was a hint of sweet and savoury. My wife and I are always on the hunt for the perfect combination of great food and excellent service - and we were lucky enough to stumble onto both with Dirty Food Eatery! Drawn in by the enticing menu and the stellar reviews, we set our sights on the Brunch menu, specifically something I've never tried before but always wanted to: Chicken 'n' Waffle - Buttermilk fried chicken on a 1/2 waffle w whipped honey butter, candied jalapeños, jalapeño syrup and spicy pickled peaches. For our choice of side, we'd heard nothing but rave reviews for their home fries - which were no ordinary home fries: "thin sliced buttery layers of potato goodness, baked then fried". Our fates were sealed! And what a plate of comforting goodness it was. Everything worked beautifully together - even the pickled peaches, about which I'd had my doubts. But they provided the perfect acidic counterpoint to all the sweet and spicy richness. BUT, as always, great food means absolutely nothing without great service - you might lure us in with your tantalizing menu, but that doesn't guarantee we'll return. Thankfully, our server, Sienna, was terrific! She was friendly and attentive, calm and efficient amidst the steady flow of hungry patrons, but still taking her time to make sure we felt like welcome guests rather than irritating intrusions (as is so often the case these days). I started a Saturday morning off getting my fill before having a day of running around the city. I ordered a brisket benny that surprised me. I'm talking smoked BBQ beef brisket on a potato pancake topped poached eggs and hollandaise. I had heard about their fries, so I had a side of fries with the benny. Totally blown away. I washed it down with an iced latte. Like most breakfast and brunch spots, this one packs out quickly. I arrived shortly after the doors opened and had been sitting for all of about 15 minutes before the place got flooded with patrons. That being said, get there early. The food is served in very good portions, and well priced. I loved the asparagus and potato rosti eggs benedict dish I ordered. We called to add our reservation to the waitlist. Once we arrived, we had been taken off the list. That's how it started. We were a party of 6 and sat at a high top table. It was cramped and quite hot - maybe the AC wasn't working that day or maybe they don't have it? The server came to take our drink order. We were ready to order our food after waiting extra time from the reservation snafu, but she quipped that "I'm only taking drink orders right now." From there, the meal couldn't save what had already been several misteps. Didn't even care that much that the wrong form of potatoes came with one of our orders - they fixed it quickly but the energy of our party was basically, let's eat and get outta here (and never come back). It's a shame because my husband and I have come here for years, and we love the food. But every other aspect during this latest visit when we brought our out-of-town guests ruined it for even us. Not sure we'll be back anytime soon. Maybe a second chance later on down the line after some time has passed, but this visit just left a bad taste in our mouths, and it wasn't the food. I was absolutely delighted by this restaurant. The one thing that you do need to know, is that the guest list can get incredibly long. If you have not made a reservation in advance, a 2-hour wait would not be that out of the norm on a Sunday brunch. Even with the reservation, it can take a little bit of time unless you have really planned in advance. However, it's all done through an app, which means that there is nothing stopping you from putting your reservation in and wandering the beautiful neighborhood until you got a notification that your time has come. I can only speak to what I had, which was the Apple pancakes. When they came, they came with such a tiny bottle of syrup, but I was assured that there would be more syrup if such a need should arrive. Normally, I go through a lot of syrup to deal with the overly dry pancakes that needs something to support them. However, not here. By the end, with all of the delicious sauce, and goo, and added flavors, and whatever else was thrown on top, it was a superb treat that left me with syrup still in the small bottle. This is something that I do not think has ever happened before. It should also be noted, that after this meal I did not need to eat for the rest of the day. These fluffy hot cakes melt the sweet cream on top faster than you can eat them. An excellent portion of apple butter complimented the dish, as did the granola chunks and powdered sugar that danced around the plate. Nothing beats those chunks of cinnamon apples in the middle of the cakes. We also enjoyed the Patas Bravas. These exceeded my expectations. They come as a generous mound of smothered potatoes topped with what looks like a farm-fresh egg. The side salad is perfect for cutting those starchy carbs. I would rate the coffee as average. I have to give 5 stars because the food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond. They close at 3PM and we arrived at 2:40PM, I had no hope of being able to eat here because they were so close to closing. We went in and asked them if it was possible, he said let me check and they let us stay and eat. I was shocked because most kitchens close 30 minutes prior but they chose to accommodate us.
