Mike and Donny moved me efficiently and timely from Redlands to San Diego in just over 4 hrs from start to finish including drive time. They even got to San Diego before me!! *LOOK AT ALL THE LOW REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING WITH THIS COMPANY* We booked Mike's Moving to move into a 4-bedroom townhouse. The one pro I can offer is that Anthony and his counterpart were very hardworking, which would've changed this review completely if not for what happened. We've moved a few times before and have never experienced this before. They've damaged two things and the way they dealt with it was appalling. Our family has a white leather sofa that is valued over $2000, purchased ONLY ONE YEAR AGO. Before moving the furnitures into the truck, we requested that the movers wrap the furniture (like all our other movers normally do) in furniture wrap to prevent damage to it. They insisted that it was not necessary and that they did not have it (what kind of moving company lacks the necessary tools to move on a scheduled move?), then proceeded to move the couch into the truck. They also moved my brothers black computer desk into the truck shortly after. When the furniture arrived, we noted multiple areas of damage on the sofa and countless scratches ALL OVER the side of the desk. Anthony first insisted that "it's just dirt" and forcefully tried to rub the spots, only furthering the damage of the leather. The black desk shows MULTIPLE and obvious damage on the side. When asked about the damage, the movers said "we thought this was the bottom so it didn't matter." Excuse me, but 1) it's not, 2) even if it was, does that give you the right to decide what can be damaged?????? This really fucking baffles me. My dad and I attempted to contact Mike multiple times. When he finally got back to me, his response was a short "I apologize but Anthony is a contracted worker, he can discuss what will be taken out to cover the damage. thank you." Mike decided to call me about 10 minutes after since I did not respond yet. At first, I thought he was just trying to grasp the situation and he made it seem like he was there to help me work things out. However, he mentioned things like "it's just a little bit of damage that no insurance will cover," or "are you SURE it's leather? leather shouldn't rip that easily," very obviously trying to make excuses. At that point, I still remained calm and courteous as I just wanted to figure out a fair solution. Mike ended this phone call with "Anthony is an Independent Contractor," so my father needed to "dispute this with him & decide together what is a fair price to pay as this will come out of his pocket." I asked him what would happen if Anthony refused to pay, and Mike told me that I could call him back and continue to work out something, but not before he re-emphasized that he could file a claim with his insurance but "no insurance will cover small damages." - We asked you to protect our furniture before moving it so that it doesn't get damaged. Yet, you decide not to protect the sofa, damage it, then tell me that it's considered "small damage" so "no insurance company will not cover it." That's funny. Not sure how business works like this. I relay what Mike told me to my dad. He speaks to Anthony and calls me back. Here, he tells Anthony that this sofa is priced for over $2000, is only a year old, and he thinks $500 is a fair price to cover for the damages- but he thinks this cost should be split between the company and Anthony, not just Anthony himself. After all, Anthony represents Mike's company. Anthony does not agree nor deny this request, but instead calls Mike and comes back telling my dad that they will only cover $120. I call Mike back to clarify what my father just told me. Before I could even explain or ask about the situation, Mike BLEW UP and started to YELL over the phone at me because my dad was requesting $500. He said he's upset at Anthony as well "for not protecting our furniture" (admittance) but then went off on how "no old couch" is worth $500 and that even if I put it on Offer Up, I wouldn't get that much for it. He continued to say that $500 is ridiculous, that Anthony worked hard, and $500 is taking all of his wages and that he's telling me this so that "we'll have a conscience." 1) This is the business owner talking to a client, 2) Our couch is a year old, purchased at over $2k, AND we requested for protection to which your workers denied, 3) They also knowingly allowed damage to the computer table because "they thought it was the bottom." I don't know about you, but this isn't someone I ever want to work with. When things are fine, great. When there's damage, Mike hides, blames it all on his workers, and yells at the client. Hey Mike, contracts may state a rate for damage, but they also become void when there's GROSS NEGLIGENCE (which both Anthony and Mike admitted to & I have record of). Business Tip: Bring the tools you need to do a job, take some classes in customer service, and learn some business laws instead of relying on yelling at a client. read more

This was my first and last time using Mikes Moving, and do not really care if he offers a discounted rate using his services again. I really wish the fabricated reviews below would have really stated the truth bout how poorly operated the business really is! First off, the reason I hired Mikes Moving Company was because I had been involved in a motor vehicle accident and physically could not lift anything. As a result, I reached out to Mike who was reassuring about taking care of all my needs and understood what my circumstances were. Moving Day, Mikes company shows up a little late, but nothing unusual with most moving companies, so it did not bother me much. I was just happy to see them and get started with the move. To my surprise one of his guys was a new hire with no experience at all. RED FLAG! My house was over 3,000 sq ft and a two story, this type of move is not fitted for someones 1st day on the job! Even the experienced worker knew, and gave Mike a call to send someone experienced to help him. Overhearing the conversation, I heard Mike decline his request and blatantly said NO!, "your going to finish the move with your partner and I'm not sending anyone over for help." Immediately I knew they would go over their 4 hours (prorated charge), which means additional charges and more money out of my pocket. I felt hopeless, and they started the move anyways. They guys looked lost and didn't know where to begin, so I had to become the facilitator telling them where to start! I also dissembled three bed frames and moved furniture closer to the stairway for the process to be quicker. I thought these were professionals, but more like amateurs. I could write a story about my ghastly experience but will keep it concise! 1) Damaged over 50% of my furniture 2) Damaged the walls and wooden floors of my house, which I was suppose to put on the market but now have to fix the floors and paint. TIME AND MORE MONEY. Mike did not take any responsibility and said I ruined the floors and walls even though I saw them scatch it with my own eyes. 3) Held my furniture hostage until I payed him or would not unload my things. I threatened to call the cops and that is when he finally came to sense. I was not even at the other location, but had family there so how could I pay your drivers? A warning would be nice or at least tell clients in advance that payment is due before the drop! 4)They left my fridge outside my door and didn't move it into my new house, because apparently their time was up! Keep in mind I could not physically do it myself and they were aware of it. I would never do that to any other human being ever!!! Such desensitized and completely inhumane. They literally wanted more money after squeezing an additional $150 out of me. BTW, I never received a receipt as well! DO NOT PAY CASH OR YOU WILL GET SCREWED! Please learn from my mistake! 5) Mike turned off his phone and would not return any of my calls to make things right. As a result, I was stuck with a fridge outside of my house, late at night, and my mom was outside all by herself! I REALLY HOPE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE'S FAMILY. 6) YES, MIKES COMPANY IS CHEAP AT FIRST, BUT ONCE THEY HOOK YOU IT WILL QUICKLY BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER REPUTABLE COMPANIES. This "company" (really it's just a guy) is HORRIBLE and tremendously unprofessional. After an email, and two extremely lengthy phone calls with Mike, we had a date booked for my move. It isn't a small move. It's a 5br house. He told me that we were booked for my date, and that the next thing that would happen is I'd get a follow up call the day before. 3 days before the move, I called him to see if we could change the time to a couple hours later. He didn't remember me (by the way, he didn't remember me the second time we spoke either), and said that he doesn't show my move on his calendar. He said he is already booked for that day. Unreal! Then he texted me, and I quote "I really don't need the money I get more business than I can handle and I already have another job that day". Not the kind of guy I would ever want to do business with, and I hope that anybody reading this avoids this guy at all cost. There is WAY too much competition out there for someone to be this bad. I did appreciate the quick response from him, but the damage was already done. ------------------------- Mike, I thought I'd email to you my feelings about the move on Friday. First, we had the issue of the wrong move date. I needed you on Saturday and you had me scheduled for Friday. I don't know where the breakdown in communication was, but there was no way I would have selected Friday. I had client meetings all that that day and I was looking at my calendar when I called to arrange the move. But at the late date I just had to take what I could get. Moving things around on my schedule was brutal and I lost a client as a result. (Poster's note, When Mike called to confirm the day prior to the move, we simply chalked it up to a breakdown in communications, because he was equally convinced that we'd agreed to Friday.) Second, you called me late on Thursday to see if I wanted a third mover. Although you said it was totally up to me, you called me *the night before the move* which was just wrong. Still, I accepted your offer for the third guy. When I got off the phone with you I called my friend and told him I no longer needed him. So, you can imagine my surprise when only two guys showed up! What the hell, Mike?! People make plans based upon conversations with you! I needed three guys! I had three guys until you screwed me up and didn't tell me. Third, although your guys were nice and friendly and hard workers, they left furniture around! They didn't take my TVs. They didn't take the coffee table. They didn't take a jewelry cabinet after we'd already discussed it. They didn't take a file cabinet in the office. There no no more room for it all when they'd finished packing. Mike, your guys should know better! When it becomes apparent that not everything is going to fit, inform your clients that it's not all going to fit and ask *your clients* to select what must remain! It's not up to your movers to make that choice! I almost told them to unpack the sh*t and repack that which they left behind! In the past 10 years I've moved 5 times. I've never moved myself any of those times. But, Mike, I have to tell you that this move was easily one of the most poorly planned and irresponsible moving service experiences I have ever had. I hired another company but the truck with that company got into an accident in the morning and then ended up waiting almost 5 hours before I ended up canceling that service. I called MM literally at 3:30p and asked if he had anyone in the next hour and sure enough, he did! Julio & Ramon showed up at my door steps in about 45 minutes. I was quoted a rate for 3 hours including drive time. For some reason, I did call this company a few weeks back and remember receiving a higher quote but either way, I got a fair price. They start at $49.99 per hour. (That's what is posted on their truck) I didn't have a ton of stuff except furniture in the master bedroom that needed to be disassembled and brought down a flight of stairs. Both guys managed to move around without scratching walls or furniture. They were freakishly strong too! My husband helped load the truck to expedite the moving process, since we had already been waiting for another company earlier in the day. But the loading took just about an hour. I like that these guys were quick and didn't dilly-dally with a lot of small talk. They unhooked my washer and dryer and packed it away in their truck. Our move was about 15 miles from Riverside to Corona and we did hit some traffic (and it started to drizzle!!) but all in all finished in 3 hours. So didn't have to pay any extra fees. They hooked up my furniture before leaving and placed boxes where I asked them to. Considered they were last minute, these guys saved the day! read more

Long overdue review. I have moved several times and did a lot of research on several different companies and I trust yelp a lot to help me with a lot of my decisions. I know the hassle it is of moving and an estimate of how long it would take to move my stuff. I figured I would try and save my back this time by paying for a move, but was scared about the service. Last time I moved my stuff with my friends (4 friends) it took us ~4-5 hours (including driving time). I was expecting the same amount of time with Mike... I believe Mike personally helped with the move, I was only at my new place when they were transferring our stuff (because of my job), my mom and girlfriend observed them from the beginning. But I was SHOCKED from what I saw! I mean, I am no star athlete, but I am a triathlete/weekend warrior and they were moving quick up and down the stairs carrying some of my heaviest furniture, especially the ones with no grip and were precarious. I was completely flabbergasted and extremely amused. They appeared to be very careful also when going around corners and did a great job. They did great and I would definitely use them again. All in all they ended up finishing the move in a little less than 2 hours with only 2 people including the driving. I got charged the base 4 and I tipped just because I was impressed/satisfied. Only 1 small note... I believe we were scheduled for early pick up I believe 9 or 10, but then we got a call in the morning saying they were coming at 11:30. They then arrived at 9:30. This is the second time we've used Mikes moving and couldn't be happier. They were able to pack everything up and move us from Riverside to Oxnard in the same day! These guys work hard, are on-time and did their best to work with us and some of our outside furniture and tools which are odd-shapes and heavy. I would definitely use these guys again and always recommend them to my friends in the area. After reading some unfavorable reviews, I can only assume the customers we're ill-prepared or just unreasonable with their expectations... these guys are movers not miracle workers and if something goes wrong or is unexpected they take care if it professionally and promptly. Just moved to our first home and hired Mike to help us move. We hired 2 movers and they knocked it out in less than 3hours! We moved from a 1 bedroom 2nd floor apartment but that last time we hired movers it took them over 5 hours so Mike blew them out of the water! Now they don't plastic wrap all of the big stuff like other movers do, but they move everything very carefully and then wrap things in blankets once they are in the truck. This sped up the process considerably. The only small criticism I have is that they don't offer wardrobe boxes like every other moving company but we just threw our clothes in a big box so it wasn't a big deal. So this is not my first rodeo using a moving company so I know sometimes things can be rough and unpleasant but not this time. Mike and Julio were amazing. I was moving from a two bedroom apartment into a new home. My appointment time was 7am and you wouldn't you believe it, they're backing in the truck at 7am while calling me to let me they arrived. Ok. So I have hired Mike's Moving 2 times. The first time, they saved me on a moment's notice because I had a Uhaul full of stuff, did not have a reservation and didn't have unloading help to be at the storage. So they helped unload. Next, that same day I had them go to my other apartment and load big furniture, I had not been able to load onto the Uhaul the day before. The second time I hired them, I had to re-schedule with him twice because of rental lease issues. He was cool with the changes. The second time I hired Mike's Moving, he and his partner went to my storage to pick up my items and drop them off at my new rental property. They did fine. I am sure they are not perfect (there was a tiny knick on the wall from a huge piece of furniture and a wall stain from that piece), but after two moves with him and only having that one mishap, I'd hire him and his crew, again. read more

As you can tell, I'm not a regular review writer for Yelp but those two guys blew me away with their customer service. The quote process was quick and able to accommodate the date needed for the move (5/30/18). The response was quick and an appt was scheduled, we needed an additional location and items moved and were given the price for the services. On the day of the move, the movers came, friendly but were unaware of the second location. During the quote process I was told the hourly rate over the set 4 hour rate but was not told anything over 8 hours was time and half. Of course I'm wondering about this and they had to check with boss on the second location. When I mentioned about movers assembling all furniture there was not really a response. I then tried to call Mike and the number didn't work, kept cutting me off. I was then able to get through and left message and texted that movers will do the assembly?? The movers then told me the boss called them, rather than answer my calls or text that they would assemble the furniture. Movers worked very hard that day to move two locations and assemble the furniture needed. The choice for payment was cash or card but if you pay with card there is a 5% charge, now this was not disclosed to me in the beginning. So I decided to pay in cash, the amount was determined from their dispatch and was agreeable. The only problem was no receipt even though I paid in cash. I was told most customers take pic of the papaerwork but would be emailed a receipt and I provided my email address. Ok, so I waited a couple of days, no receipt? Plus, I could not locate a plug in for the power reclining sofa. I then called Mike, this time he picked right up and I asked him about receipt and if he could check with movers on my power cord. He said he would and took my email address again and still to date no receipt. This company pricing was comparable to others but did not provide any wardrobe boxes to move hanging clothes. Adrain and Victor arrived a hour ahead of schedule and loaded up the truck in just over a hour. They were courteous and treated our belongings with the upmost respect. I was referred by a friend to Mike's Movers, I did research the yelp reviews prior to scheduling, everything worked out great. Mike himself was quite personable and available via phone when needed. Good customer service. Julio and Eric moved my furniture. They arrived on time. They were both really nice guys, they worked efficiently and carefully. I expressed concern of my finer furniture being handled with tender love and care, they made sure to oblige. I did not have a scratch, ding or broken piece of furniture. Daniel and William were fabulous. On time, hard working, polite and very careful. Nothing was damaged, they protected the wood floor, walls and doorways and everything was left in great condition. They expertly filled our Pod to the gills and left no empty space that I could see! They also made friends with our dog and made sure she didn't escape during the chaos. I would recommend Mike's Moving,, and especially Daniel and William yo anyone who needs professional moving services. Update: we had to fill a second smaller Pod and of course called Mike's again! On short notice, he sent out Donny and Gavin who were just as skilled and hard working as the first two! We showed them what was left and they masterfully stowed and stacked and wrangled all but a coupled of our awkward items into the Pod!
