Did Uber Eats /takeout and even that has earned mikado a 4/5, honestly, I'm willing to bet it would be a 5/5 had we dined in. I wasn't feeling super hungry so I ordered a California roll since that is a good way for me to assess if a place is good or not and the California roll here was super fresh- the avocado was melt in your mouth and the imitation crab still had a bite to it. The soy sauce had a sweet tone to it. But what really sold this place to me was the yellowtail roll, the fish was fresh and the green onion still had a bite to it. Probably one of the best bites I've had in New York this time around. Also tried the scallop maki and spicy crab, both were fine but that yellowtail really stole the show! Gf loves this place and I must say, had she not insisted I try everything she got, this place woulda probably only gotten a 3/5 for me.

Mikado is hands down my favorite sushi spot, especially for their lunch specials. The rolls are always generously filled with super fresh fish, and the rice to fish ratio is perfect every time. No skimping here! The quality is consistently great, the service is quick, and the prices make it such a go to spot for a satisfying sushi meal. If you love fresh, well made rolls, Mikado is the place. Always excited to come back!

Great lunch spot - super quiet on a week day! Food was great, and the lunch special is a steal! Prompt and friendly service.

Super Bowl chicken Teriyaki Spicy Crab Maki 8 Piece Uni Wagyu Maki 8 piece

Valentine's Day dinner was incredible. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The entire restaurant was decorated pink and servers wore pink outfits too! Started off with wonton tacos and miso soup. For mains we ordered the Super Bowl don and I got dinner bento box with chicken teriyaki and uni wagyu roll. We also ordered the spicy crab and a California roll. Food was super fresh and seafood was perfectly seasoned. Super Bowl was loaded with Uni and Toro and Ikura!!Desserts were yuzu cheesecake and lava cake with some green tea. Overall really good and Uni prices were pretty fair. Definitely a great choice on Atlantic Avenue. Will be back for more!

In a word: FRESH. Everything was made with love and care and tasted amazing. Probably a top 3 karaage chicken I've ever had, fresh and juicy. Gyoza and Shumai were made to perfection. Great attentive staff with a nice decor and vibe. No complaints from me, all food plus a beer and two drinks came out to 66$. I'll be back for sure!

Came to try out the Mikado lunch specials which did not disappoint! We each ordered the set of 4 maki which are an incredible deal - only $28 for 4 gigantic rolls. I tried the yellowtail jalapeño, salmon avocado, spicy tuna, and scallion toro (for an extra $3). The yellowtail jalapeño was by far my favorite. I was also very impressed by the salmon, which I tend to be really picky with. Usually toro is my absolute favorite, but I was a little less excited about this one. There rolls were so big that I could only eat half for lunch and I ended eating the rest for dinner. Overall, this is a very solid deal for the price.

The reason to go to this place is happy hour - til 6:30pm it's $3 beer, $1 (stone cold) edamame, $6 maki rolls, $5 plum wine. Not the best quality in the world, but a cheap and easy meal.

Chicken Karaage Don

Charming spot with great lunch deals! Came by for lunch to catch up with friends and we got the sushi & maki roll set, chicken karaage don, and the scallop yuzu maki roll. The $22 sushi set was a solid deal--8 pieces of nigiri and a tuna scallion roll. While the fish wasn't the absolute freshest, it was definitely better than your average sushi place. I do wish the nigiri selection had more variety instead of duplicates of the same fish. Just a heads-up: the chef goes a little heavy on the wasabi, so be prepared! The scallop yuzu roll was fresh and sweet, though it had a bit too much rice compared to the amount of fish. I didn't try the karaage don myself, but my friend seemed to enjoy it!

I'm surprised by the experience I had here! I've only heard good things from many many people, but didn't love my experience trying the sushi. I ordered Mikado's 4 rolls lunch special and got salmon avocado, yuzu scallops, yellowfin and jalapeño, and eel and avocado and had it delivered (so I cant speak to the service or ambiance). I really appreciated how it was packaged (very nicely and beautiful branding), and they give a lot of soy sauce which I appreciate. My order also came on time. They also gave generous portions of meat for each, and the fish tasted fresh. Unfortunately, the rice felt very gummy and mushy, so it made the roll a bit unappetizing. I would try this spot again given it's been recommended so often and am open to having my mind changed!

HH sushi rolls ($6 each)
Samantha W.

Came here for HH with a friend for their $6 sushi roll and $3 beer deal. The HH sushi rolls only have 4 pieces, just fyi. We got 5 rolls and an edamame to share. It was plenty for the two of us! I thought the edamame could've used some more salt, but overall it was good. The rolls were good, nothing amazing, but that's what I suspected with such a good HH deal. The fish was fresh, just not as tender and melty as other sushi I've had. Overall, it was exactly the meal we set out to have for a nice catch-up between friends.

4 maki rolls to go

Fast, fresh, easy take out. Miso soup was fine, cucumber salad was crunchy- tho better with a splash of soy, 4 roll maki set (tuna + cucumber, tuna + avocado, spicy tuna, salmon + ikura) were all good. The packaging is cute and practical- appreciate the little dish for soy. Fine option if you are in the area.

Came in on Halloween and was promptly seated to my surprise! Lots of staff, very fast service. We got the hand roll special and the deluxe sushi set, and they were both great! They were definitely generous with the portions on the hand rolls, and I felt it was a good deal. Worth a try!

An absolute gem in South Park Slope!…read more We happened to be staying at a friend's place a few blocks away and was looking for something open on the later side with great food. We searched Yelp and came across Konoba Yakitori, and it absolutely hit the spot. My daughter and I loved our entire experience--everything from the food to the local neighborhood vibe to the incredibly friendly, attentive staff. Everything we ordered was fresh, cooked to perfection, and reasonably priced. We had the gyoza, edamame, Hamachi Lover, Ebi Shu Mai, and the $15 Beef Set (three beef skewers), accompanied by hot tea and Ramune. The beef skewers were a highlight--tender meat with seasoning that was spot-on. Warm, welcoming, prompt, and super efficient. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating, and our waiter was extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu. Top-tier service all around. The space is small and cozy with a simple, comfortable design. Seating is a bit tight and close to neighboring tables, but there's nothing wrong with being snug, rght? It gets busy, but customers tend to eat quickly, so even without reservations, the wait moves well. Most importantly, despite it being a intimate spot, we never felt rushed at all. It's simple, which is what makes it amazing. An incredible restaurant all around--I love this place and can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite parts was that when you're almost done, you can ask them to pour soup into your bowl, which basically turns it into a whole second dish! Such a fun way to finish the meal. We also tried the wagyu, which was really good, but honestly, the wagyu rice stole the show for me! Overall, great food, service, and ambiance. After finally trying it, I can confidently say this place lives up to the hype! If you love Japanese rice bowls featuring high-quality ingredients and an interactive dining experience, this spot deserves a visit. We ordered the Wagyu Hitsumabushi set, featuring A5 wagyu served over rice with egg yolk, wasabi, scallions, rice crackers, and bonito broth. The wagyu was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. The rich, buttery beef paired beautifully with the creamy egg yolk, while the wasabi and scallions added a fresh, sharp kick to cut through the richness. The rice crackers were a great touch, bringing some much-needed crunch and texture to every bite. And of course, finishing the bowl with the bonito broth gives you a completely different experience, transforming the dish into a comforting, savory bowl of goodness. I loved that you could enjoy the rice bowl in different ways rather than having every bite taste the same. We also ordered the Kaishin Don, topped with Hokkaido uni, minced tuna, ikura, and chives over rice. This was another winner! The combination of creamy uni, savory minced tuna, and those little bursts of briny ikura made every bite incredibly satisfying. It almost felt like making your own hand rolls, except everything was conveniently served over a bowl of rice. The different textures and flavors complemented one another so well, and I could happily eat this again. What I particularly appreciate about Ozakaya is that these aren't just pretty bowls made for Instagram. The ingredients, thoughtful combinations, and different ways to enjoy each set make the experience genuinely worthwhile. If you've been eyeing Ozakaya on social media, consider this your sign to go! Both the Wagyu Hitsumabushi and Kaishin Don are worth trying, especially if you're a fan of Japanese rice bowls and premium seafood. Ozakaya definitely delivered on the hype for me!

Cream udon is not for everyone but I really liked the flavor, and the ramen was just the best balance of citrusy and savory with a little kick, great toppings and tender meat. The seaweed salad was so different from what I'm used to, it uses wide flat seaweed leaves and has a subtle flavor with some added texture from cucumbers and ribbons of radish. The karaage was also good, pretty standard. I just appreciate that this spot is consistently yummy and has a diverse menu, a little pricey but worth it I'd say.

To start off, we had the Cheeseburger Dumplings ($12), which was so unique. We've never had something like this and they executed it really well. The dumplings were filled with meat and fried with a skirt. The cheese part was topped over it like a melty dressing, so a delicious and special dish here. Plus, it had a side salad to balance all the grease here. For the entrees, we had to get the udon and shared the Niku Udon ($25) and Salmon Ikura Udon ($30). It was a nice combo between a hot and cold udon. The Niku was your classic udon bowl filled with plenty of beef and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. The broth was sweet and savory for a warm and comforting meal. On the other hand, the salmon udon was quite unique with matcha udon and fresh salmon. There is a dashi to pour and mix into the noodles, which still gave it flavor and the slurp you want in a udon. Both were so great in its own way. Even their ramen also looked great, but I love all noodles. Definitely a great spot to dine near Barclays Center. Love to come back whenever I'm in the area again. The udon dishes are on the pricier side, but they're huge bowls.
