Very bad experience. We loved the food when we visited, so attempted takeout. We called on speaker phone and an older man took the order. He seemed distracted or confused, so I attempted to correct the order a number of times before he abruptly hung up. BF and I laughed bc it was so crazy and dismissive! When BF arrived to fetch the meal, they had the order wrong and he tried to correct it. They got very testy and said take it or leave it. We wound up with more food than we'd ordered, turning a $70 ticket to over $100!!! We will not return!!! read more

I've been to Mignons on several occasions over the past several years for work functions, rep dinners, etc. The environment is nice, seating in and out doors. Staff is friendly, good service. I've only had the filet, done different ways over the years. Prices liked most places, $30-$40. Sometimes the taste is great and sometimes it's "just ok" and paired with different sides. They lobster bisque is amazing. A must! Overall, there are so many places in Dallas to get a good filet, this restaurant would not be my first choice...but worth trying. read more

I let my friend pick out the brunch spot today. When I tell you this was the worst decision she has ever made. None of us finished our food. It was totally disgusting. My batter was too thick for my waffles. The chicken strip was cut from one chicken strip. They were so thin. It just felt like I was eating fried bread crumbs. If you are a black person please AVOID this restaurant. I was reached out to by the manager to come in for an interview. Throughout the "interview" the owner repeatedly insulted my intelligence and undermined me. He repeatedly told me that he believed it would take me 6+ months to learn the menu, despite me working as a server at a fine dining steakhouse for SEVERAL years. He goes on to say that he doesn't believe that I'll be able to remember daily specials or the wines that they offer. I'm very confused as to how he came to that conclusion. I have worked as a server for several years, why would I not be able to remember a menu? He told me he could offer me the position but it would be a waste of his and my time. He also stated that I wouldn't make any money and that it would take me at least 6 months to make $100 a night. And that I didn't have the experience despite him reaching out to me to come in for an interview.This was by far the most unprofessional and rude interview I have ever been to. I can't help but believe that my race played a role in his disgusting behavior. He was extremely pleasant over the phone and on indeed but I did NOT get that same respect in person. We very much enjoyed the food and service. However, the prices are quite high for what you get. Be aware, when your server tells you the specials, that they likely are delicious, but please be smarter than we were, and ask the price before ordering. My husband ordered the porterhouse that was on special, and while good, was not $120 good. $80 would have been a fair price. So shame on us for not asking before ordering, but also we feel that $269 plus tip for two people (4 cocktails, 2 salads, 1 soup, and 2 entrees) was more than this was worth. read more

DFW has many options to eat at many many different price ranges. When you see a price range of 30-50 dollars a plate though you expect a certain decorum. a certain je ne se quois. Some have it, some don't. Mignon does not. Don't get me wrong, they may eventually get there, or maybe they were there before and went astray somewhere but as it stands now, they are hands down not worth the price of admission. Food: Appetizer was bacon wrapped quail with potatoes and cherries. Easily the most delicious thing we had this night. Entree's were the boneless ribeye, seabass, and cochon. The ribeye was simply a steak, nothing really set it apart, and it needed salt. I asked for medium rare, got it at medium, and no one bothered to check if it was right, or give me a steak knife for that matter. The seabass was perfectly cooker but under seasoned, it needed salt, and something other than a lemon garlic butter sauce. The cochon was not surprisingly rich, and the bacon wrapped figs and swiss chard were both great, but the rest fell a bit short. We ended up taking it home and are unsure if we'll use it. Texture and flavor were a bit off. Service: Bad service can make mediocre food worse. We waited about 3 minutes in the front lobby staring in blankly trying to figure out where to go, no one said hi, no one was on standby, people were obviously seated. The maitre d eventually come by and looked at us blankly for about 30 seconds before turning to a computer and staring at it for awhile. I prompted with my name and we had a reservation for 2. about 3 minutes later we were sitting a chilly table in the middle of the room with no menus, no silver, nothing. We asked to move out to the patio as it was a nice day outside and he looked at me "It might rain soon." Nothing else. I said I would take the risk and he took us outside and pointed to a dirtied tabled with two others clean next to it. "You will sit there" and grabbed someone to clean the table real fast. We sat near the edge of the patio but not against the railing. I was extremely glad of this later. Then it went way down hill. We waited nearly 10 minutes for someone to come by with water and eventually give us drink and wine menus. The wine menu is a bit out there, i counted around 12 wines at 55-80 (the lowest price point) and many more upwards of 1.2k a bottle. We stuck to cocktails. It took another 10 minutes to get our cocktails and we still hadn't seen a menu. a full 25 minutes in before we were able to ask questions about the menu and eventually get our order in. The menu has big notes at the bottom "3 dollars for plate splitting fee on appetizers, 7 dollars plate splitting fee on entrees, all dishes are prepared with individual consumption in mind." The opposite side "We will not split checks". I can always tell when someone's had a bad time with customers. We waited another 15 minutes before we got our appetizers, and another 20 for our entree's. It was getting darker and the railing was lined with torches. I guess the maître 'd thought it was time to light them (with a table sitting in front of each torch, they could reach out and touch them if wanted) He walks through the dining room with a light blow torch, flame going out 3 inches. Walks right up behind one of the customers, doesn't say a word and proceeds to light the torch not even 3 feet away from her face. Then he repeats this, never turning off the torch and moving it precariously close to each patron as he does so. If you are keeping track we have been there for 1 hour now and have just gotten our entree's. They dropped the plates off asking who got what (I'm not used to this at this price point) and then left. Typically we're asked to try our food, or cut into the steak make sure its right, which would have been a problem, I don't have a steak knife yet, I didn't until about 8 minutes later when my wife frustrated at me stubbornly trying to cut my steak with a butter knife flagged down a different waiter. Our waiter had not returned since since our apps were delivered to ask us how anything was, in point of fact she never did. We declined dessert and requested the bill, she left before i could drop a card on it, costing us another 8 minute wait. We paid and walked slowing from the patio, through the dining room, through the lobby and out the door. Past 6 waiters, and the maître 'd, no one said a word. Not "come again" or "happy 10 year anniversary". No questions on if everything was to our liking. In conclusion, the food was mediocre, the service was unacceptable. If we paid half of what we did, I probably wouldn't have complained, but I expect more at this price range. The owners and managers would do well to sit down at a place like Eddie V's, St. Martins (French Wine Bistro better and cheaper than this place), or Kenny's Wood Fire grill (also cheaper on average). Take a long hard look at the quality of service and food, and then take an honest look at their offerings. read more

Very average considering the price. We went for an anniversary meal, noted that on our reservation but it wasn't acknowledged. Prices are high and the quality doesn't reflect the price. We ordered a steak (medium), it arrived well done. We also had the beef Wellington which was mediocre at best, overcooked beef and not much taste. The dessert was also less than exciting - molten lava cake was hard on the outside and tasteless. On the plus side the ice cream (lavender honey) was BOMB and the Brussel spout fritters were absolutely delicious. Server was nice, clearly busy, but fairly attentive. We was nice enough to make a substation on one of the meals which they don't usually do and he did a great job selling the specials (which definitely didn't live up to the pitch). The other thing was that online it was offering august as 'customer appreciation month' where you can also view a $49 prefix menu. When booking thru open table you had to select if you wanted the pre fixe menu so it was definitely something on offer. However this menu wasn't offered, had to ask twice for it before someone finally gave us one (clearly wanted us to order a la carte and make more money). Nobody else seemed to be offered it either - suspect it was a gimmick to pull people in and then hope nobody asks about it. We went expecting a special Christmas Eve dinner and received a lot of disappointment instead. The restaurant was incredibly warm inside to the point of being uncomfortable. We were seated directly in front of the kitchen entrance which was okay but not optimal. We waited 10 minutes before anyone approached the table. Our server came with water and wanted to take our drink order and complete dinner order (prix fixe menu only) at this time. We received salad/soup 15 minutes before our drinks arrived. We had to ask for bread which should have been served with the starters. Our dinners arrived and were fine but the servings were significantly smaller than if we ordered them on a regular evening and lukewarm. We we never offered the option to order another drink. The cheesecake dessert option was the smallest (less than an inch wide) serving. We were presented with the bill within minutes after dessert was served and could not get a second cup of coffee. The dinner was mediocre, and certainly didn't meet expectations compared to the pricing. Even sitting outside the kitchen entrance did not insure service. I could see our server was busy and had a large number of tables so the issue is due to poor management. The bar struggled keeping up with orders. If you cannot properly staff a restaurant you have all the power to fix the issue. (I have been a patron in the past and expected the same experience.) Boo!). Main course. Son had boneless ribeye. (Good but not excellent) wife's filet was for tender and had a very tasty foie gras sauce. I had sea bass with ravioli. Ample but didn't quite fall apart at the fork. Dessert was creme brûlée which was very smooth and melted in your mouth. Bread pudding with butter pecan ice cream was nicely textured but too many raisins. Son had chocolate cake which was good but too much to finish. Martini was simple but well done. Nice bottle of Pinot Noir. No lesser bailouts; lowest cost was about $75. They were doing a heady business. Too many tables crAmmed in. Noisy and waitress kept bumping into us at our table. The prices are definitely high up there, but this place seems like such a great 'date' place, that the price almost fits that idea (girls are impressed by expensive meals right?) Like I was saying, a lovely ambiance and atmosphere that is just perfect for an intimate meal or a 'celebration' meal. The location is great in West Plano. The menu is really interesting with some great ingredients like wild boar, foie gras & quail. Although I see that they like to wrap things in bacon. (No complaints from me). We already ate next door at Mi Cocina (that place is trash) and came here to Mignon for a after dinner glass of wine. We sat at the bar and had a african american lady sitting couple chairs down from us. She ordered dinner and drinks and was smiling and getting plenty of attention. We spoke with management and complimented the cappuccino (can easily say best I have had in 30 years) wife did not want any but I ordered one for her anyway. Absolutely Wonderful Time at Mignon!! A friend & I hosted a dual surprise birthday dinner for our husbands at Mignon on Saturday night for a party of 11 people. It COULD NOT have been better!! First Shelly & Nick helped us plan the dinner with an excellent menu and then reserved us the private patio on the south side of their restaurant. It overlooked a pond with a fountain. It was a Beautifularea! But even better they let us decorate with balloons and party favors during the day before the dinner. Everyone raved about the venue. It was a lovely, uncrowded & quiet outdoor setting! Perfect for what we had in mind. The best part was this space was offered at no additional charge above the price of the meal. It was perfect for hosting a party. Next Jorge was our waiter. He could not have been more attentive and prompt. We never had to wait or ask for anything. He was always there with our drinks, wine, and water whenever we needed it. Dinner was served all together so everyone received their meal at the same time and at the perfect temperature. It was perfect!!! We wrapped it up with a variety of delicious desserts and coffee and never felt rushed at any point. Last but not least the food was outstanding! Shelly & Nick offered a special menu that was very diverse from fish & beef, to lamb & chicken. It was all served timely, warm and delicious. Not one single person had a critical remark to make. We are a group of close friends that dine out together often. Mignon will become one of our regular spots & we all look forward to eating there often. My wife and I went there on Mother's Day - it was our first visit to Mignon even though finding out on our visit this restaurant has been in existence for many years. The brunch menu for Mother's Day was rather limited so sorry to say I do not believe we received the true experience we could have had but what we did experience in service and food was outstanding !!!!!! Our server was kind enough to share the regular menu with us to show what we could experience on our nice visit by ordering off that menu and then shared some of the "Off Menu Specials" they offer each evening which sounded wonderful. I went night before last and had the special which was the beef Wellington. It was cooked perfectly and the cauliflower gratin that came with it was devine! My man had the veal chop and it was so tender it just melted. We had the mid range Pinot Noir upon recommendation from our server, it was stunning. On 06/07/2020 myself and my church family were visiting to celebrate some very significant triumphs and occasions. One of the members of our group was served RAW chicken with her pasta alfredo. The thinner portion of the chicken breast was cooked thoroughly but the middle portion was undercooked and very PINK in the center. Once she noticed the pieces of chicken were raw, she asked me to verify and I stated it was indeed raw, pink in the center and cold to the touch. She alerted the waitstaff (who was very kind and unfortunately works in a place like that) and advised the chicken was raw and she did not wish to continue eating. He offered to have it cooked again for her, and she declined (as I would have been disgusted too). The owner came over, very hostile, rude and said that she should have known the food was raw after two bites and he would have taken the food off of the ticket, but because she ate more than 50% of the meal, he was not going to take it off. After a quick and thoughtful interjection by our Pastor, the owner gets loud in front of other patrons and said that he was going to remove part of the pasta meal but she was going to have to pay $15.00 for the shrimp she added to her pasta (which she did not eat all of those either) and concluded with, "that is the end of it"!. BTW, she added five shrimp and we were told it was $3.00 per shrimp at the end of the service. We've been here before and we are never bringing our black dollars to this place ever again. We have been to five star restaurants all across the world and for this owner to behave and treat us as if our money wasn't green and to receive less than courteous service is an outrage! Bottom line, no thanks! The service at Chick-fil-A is five star compared to this place. We tried to reason respectively with the owner, but he had his own agenda. read more

I decided to book Mignon for a private dining event. The contract I signed was for 16+ guests & outlined a food and beverage minimum of $1200. I chose the option #1 menu and was quoted $108 per plate. I paid a $300 deposit immediately.  Since 10 of the guests were kids, I asked about a children's menu & was told that wouldn't be an issue. I did not want an open bar. Shelley, the event coordinator said she would confirm the number of guests and would recommend options for wine on the day of the event but that didn't happen. We ended up with 24 people. We had 14 adults & 10 children. When guests arrived a few ordered cocktails. The owner Nick Natour told me I was responsible for paying for all drinks on my tab. He was extremely rude and said he did not have enough waiters to handle multiple tabs but we finally agreed that those wanting cocktails could order at the bar. When I received the tab, I was very busy & didn't pay attention, I signed and gave the waitstaff an additional tip above the 25% that was required. After checking the receipt, I realized I was charged for 30 guests, all of the children but one were charged $108, the children's plate was $44.85 and I was charged $75 for soft drinks such as iced tea and soda. I was also charged an additional $105 for an adult dinner plate and my $300 deposit wasn't applied. I went in person to discuss this with the owner. He said he would not adjust the guest number and tables had been set for 27 guests. I asked even if I had 27 people why was I charged for 30 and the best explanation I received from him was that he had bills to pay! He brushed me off and told me to talk to Shelley, the coordinator. She was no help. She told me she forgot to tell me that she had to upcharge me on the appetizers but when it was discussed she told me it wasn't a problem to switch them out. I asked what the $105 charge was and she said two guests ordered Mac and Cheese. I mentioned that most private dining events include soft drinks she told me they weren't a corporation and couldn't afford it. I disputed the charges I didn't feel I owed but agreed to pay the frivolous charges such as drinks and mac and cheese. We argued over this numerous times until I finally threatened legal action and was sent my deposit but no refund for the additional guests. Again, I have no problems paying what I owe but I am furious that this is how they treat their guests. I am out for the additional charges for guests that I didn't have. My recommendation is to use a fine dining restaurant if you need private dining and double check your receipts for overcharges. read more
