The sea bass has the crisp that I love seasoned very well!! Chocolate mousse cake was DELICIOUS!!! Wasn't heavy at all, just the perfect ending. I heard no complaints about the key lime pie, none leftover so I'll take that as a good sign. The atmosphere was great. My family and I came here on Mother's Day for the "Mother's Day Brunch" that was advertised. We have never been to this restaurant before but drive by it all the time so we decided to try it. We made a reservation and requested a high chair in the reservation. We have two kids, 3yo and 10mo. They took us to our table and there was no highchair. So my husband went to ask for one. After asking what appeared to be a manager, he very unapologetically told us they do not have high chairs or boosters and that they typically don't allow children under 8 but made an exception since it was Mother's Day. The manager's attitude was as if we should just be grateful he let us in the door to begin with. How can you have an advertised Mother Day Brunch and not have accommodations for children?? And maybe after seeing the reservation they could have told us! If not in advance but at least when we arrived... they clearly saw it and the baby when we walked in! Not to mention, the yelp page says "good for kids." I can't tell you how uncomfortable I felt to have children in a restaurant on Mother's Day. What a totally terrible feeling. Considering we wouldn't be able to get a table anywhere else, we stayed. To add to our disappointing experience from the beginning, the food was mediocre at best. We all got the beef bourguignon and all of them were dry. Drinks were decent. Thankfully through our brunch our serve was so kind and understanding. He gave great service despite to awkwardness. Later that day we went to Mignon's website and the only place it states their policy on kids is in the FAQ's . So at least it states something, but you really have to search for it. So overall, better communication would have nice to avoid this very uncomfortable dinning experience. We won't be back. read more

I was left with one bill and I had to tally everyone's orders and approximate the results with a guess on proportion for tax and tip. I asked the owner for help, he shrugged and said one check was all they give. What a cluster. We had cash, credit cards...a mess. Juan was our server and he was excellent. We weren't sure what to expect after reading mixed reviews. As big foodies and someone who has been in the customer service field for decades, we expect a lot. The food that we ordered was delicious! The veal was perfect, the calamari needed salt and the breading on the Wellington was a tad soft (I prefer Gordon Ramsey's) but the filet inside the Wellington was perfection. The 75 was a bit weak so we'll stick to beer next time. The Manager was nice. Our young server was professional and friendly. We will definitely be back. The owner did come by for a quick hello but it was awkward so I can see why some posted the reviews that they did. I do agree that pricing on the meals (plates) will set you back a bit. I felt like my server was profiling me for the first half of my visit. It wasn't until I noted that my steak was over cooked but I did not send it back, that he may have realized he was behaving badly. So, obviously my $80 meal was not prepared as I requested so points lost for that as well. However, the chocolate volcano cake was more than I could have imagined. It was sinfully delicious. The outdoor scenery and ambience was what I needed to unwind after a hard week. It also helped me to not react to the waiter's initial bad behavior. I was looking for a quiet elegant restaurant with flair; that was exactly what I got. My first course was a watermelon salad with feta cheese and a balsamic drizzle. It was just enough to open my appetite. My second course was a traditional Steak au Poivre with thin cut fries. With this, I enjoyed a Prisoner red blend; a balanced wine that tasted more like a Pinot Noir then a Merlot, although a Petite Syrah / Grenache blend. It is an unassuming Napa red with a definite character and bold black cherry notes. The dessert was unconventional, and certainly not French but more Asia Minor, possibly Balkanique. A warm and copious fig cake slice served with whipped cream and accompanied with a Martel VS. Although I am not in the habit of leaving reviews, this experience deserves a positive mention. Wife and I came on a Friday evening at around 8 p.m. This was our first time here and our first impression was the nice decor, friendly valet and host. HOWEVER, we found it odd that the restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday night while surrounding restaurants were teaming with patrons! Wife and I were sat at the patio overlooking the fountain. The waiter came shortly after and was not that helpful when we asked about the menu and some of the items on it. We felt a little rushed to place our orders. For drinks, wife ordered the Malbec that was good. I stuck with my ice tea since I'm taking a break from alcohol. For appetizer, we ordered the pan seared calamari which came out cold and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. We asked the waiter to take it back. Oh, the bread took a while to come out, but it was warm and delicious. We tried the $43 ribeye which turned out pretty good. As they say, if you go to a steakhouse, order a steak. We came here for lunch solely to get risotto and Mignon did not disappoint. I got the shrimp risotto - it was spectacular. The rice was perfectly prepared, along with the fresh, huge, juicy shrimp. The shrimp was instrumental for setting off the dish, imparting flavor and substance. The chef accommodated my lemon allergy, and really delivered a fabulous lunch. Service was outstanding, our waitress was attentive and gave us good recommendations. We sat on the beautiful patio, and enjoyed the nice breeze. Disappointing is an understatement. We arrived for our 6 pm reservation and sat for 10 minutes without even a hello. No water, no silverware, no "be right with you." Every table around us was being helped and we were completely ignored. Confused, I finally had to get up and walk around asking who our waiter was. Then, our waiter reluctantly walks over and says verbatim "I guess I'm your waiter." No apology. Another 5 mins goes by but we still tried to be understanding when he gave us waters. After we opened our menus and realized it was just the drink menu, we asked for the actual menu since we had waited for so long. Our waiter snaps at us "I'm just taking your drink orders right now." It was then we decided to go ahead and leave, neither of us would've felt comfortable staying there with such terrible service. Never in my or my boyfriend's 8+ years of working in the restaurant industry have we ever seen anything like that before. Seasons 52 at Shops of Legacy came in to the rescue though when we had dinner there instead that night. Immediate and pleasant service, great food, great prices. I took my wife on a date here on a Saturday night. This was a great experience. We've patronized almost all of the steakhouses in Frisco and Plano, and this was the best service we have ever received. Derek was amazing and he knew the menu and explained the options to us well. He was humorous and friendly. We sat outside and it was a romantic experience. It reminded me of being in Pasadena or Ann Arbor. The food was great. I had the crab crusted halibut and my date had the Chilean sea bass with truffle aioli. It was good and they even sautéed spinach for me as a side. Inspired my fish with a white wine and the flavor was fantastic. We will be back to try the steak soon and overall I recommend this place for an evening date. Where do I begin? This was our first time at Mignon. NYE $80 per person prix fixe menu. We arrived a couple of minutes early and were seated promptly. Then we waited. And waited. It was about 10 minutes until the first person came and asked us what type of water we preferred. After we got our waters and placed a drink order, we waited for the bread we had to request to arrive prior to ordering the meal (they insisted we order all 3 courses up front). Then we waited for the bread again after being pressed to order again while waiting for the bread the first time. The bread arrives. It's hot and tasty. The butter is nice and soft. The waiter accidentally knocked over my wife's martini while putting the bread down. So the moved us to one of the many empty tables around us and brought her a fresh drink. Oh wait... that's what should have happened. They did bring a fresh drink, but made no effort whatsoever to do anything about the very wet tablecloth. We ordered. (well.. first we waited to grab someone's attention to get plates for the bread so the tablecloth wouldn't be covered in soggy crumbs.) The appetizers came and were meh. Lukewarm like they had been pre-prepared in bulk and sitting but not awful. We ask for the wine list when they come to take away the app plates. The main course arrives (no wine yet :-o... I wonder when it will arrive? The suspense is killing me.) My main was the chilean sea bass. Overall very tasty, though dry and tough on the outside. My wife had the filet. While a little char is good, this was beyond charred. It was burned. Medium rare in the middle. Burned on the outside. It was also the first filet I have ever seen with unchewable gristle. Inexpertly trimmed and prepared. We took it home to give to the dogs. After the main course plates are removed, the wine arrives. (Finally! The missing bordeaux has been found!) Unfortunately, the wine which would have gone famously with the steak doesn't pair well with bread pudding, so we send the glass back. Dessert was very tasty. So they got that going for them. Which is nice. The check was dropped without a word (mirroring much of the service that evening). We paid and left. Simply eager for it to be over. Note: My wife wrote a less lengthy review on OpenTable. The restaurant called her and asked her to remove the review. She laughed and laughed. Highlight of the day. It's nice to start the new year off with a little mirth. Anyhow...I don't know if they had a bad night (they said when they called my wife that they were very busy, but all of the empty tables when we were there told another story), if the competent staff were all off ringing in the new year, or what; but we'll never darken their door again. My wife and I had our first date at Mignon. We have been frequent guests for the last 8 years. Due to COVID, we had not been able to patronize the restaurant for a year. On March 31, 2021, I took my wife and her parents to Mignon to celebrate my father-in-law's 82nd birthday. The level of service had degraded significantly from previous visits. I had to ask for tableware and water. We ordered a bottle of 2013 Silver Oak. When it was brought to the table, the cork had leaked and the wine was undrinkable. The owner brought out a bottle of "his private collection". It was a 2016 vintage I was unfamiliar with. I was familiar with the wine maker, so we accepted the alternative wine. It was OK, but it was not a 2013 Silver Oak. At the conclusion of our dinner, we were presented with the bill. The substitute wine was charged at the same price as the 2013 Silver Oak. The insult was written at the top of the bill: "A 20% gratuity is added for tables of four or more". We generally tip 25% when service and food are good. We did not get that level of service. The overpriced wine and the forced gratuity were already included on the bill. Given I was celebrating my father-in-law's 82nd birthday, I did not make a scene. I paid the bill and we will simply never return to this establishment. We all choose which places to patronize. To lose loyal customers of 8 years over what can only be taken as "we will make our money one way or the other" just does not fit our reality. read more

Came here last night for an early Mother's Day dinner with my husband. The place definitely has a swanky vibe; love the way the place is set up. We were seated at a very small table right next the server station. I was not a fan of that; not a great spot to sit when you're paying fine dining prices. Our waitress was lovely; very nice and was great in taking care of us. We ordered a few things....the quail appetizer; which was interesting.... The bread pudding was probably the most enjoyable part for me, there was too much of the berry brandy sauce and it just ruined the flavors for me. The duck was cooked perfectly. I ordered the lamb; which was cooked perfectly and tasted great; but again that berry brandy sauce was too overpowering for that dish. It took away from the lamb. The kale grits were however very tasty. My husband got the prime filet, the steak was cooked to his liking but again.... They over powered the meat with their brandy foie grais sauce. Maybe we're just not a fan of alcohol based sauces; they were too much. The broccoli was cooked nicely but has no seasoning or flavor. The creamed spinach was very tasty. We did order glasses of Moscato that were very delicious. I'd give it a 6/10. Definitely are better fine dining places in my opinion. Three Forks and Dee Lincoln Prime definitely offer better dishes for the same price point. It was nice to try, but I doubt we'll be back. read more

This place is the best fine restaurant in Collin County, and that's saying a lot. It's a steakhouse with a French influence with a very elegant atmosphere. The wine and liquor selection and variety is superb, much better than comparable places. The Chilean Sea Bass is the best item on the menu in my opinion. The filet mignon chicken fried steak is delicious. Be sure to ask about the daily specials. Beware if the negative reviews, I have never had a problem with the food quality or service. No he tried to make it work, and that's fine, but Guy proceeds to tell us while there about 100 tables available that we have 2 table options because of the baby. My child didn't make a peep all night, was fantastic in fact and didn't disturb anybody. Halfway through dinner he proceeded to tell other tables he's sorry for our child and warning them about the noise? Why would you sit us then? Why would you make us feel bad for dining at your place? So I have been driving by this place for the past 6 months. I am a self proclaimed francophone and the name caught my eye. I talked my husband into coming in for date night despite the Yelp reviews. My husband is a martini geek and they made his perfectly. We are always seeking that dense, ice film. Rarely any bar/restaurant gets that right. Our server Dallas was spectacular, he was knowledgeable and patient, even when I wanted to sub this for that. Here's where it goes to shit... My husband orders his steak medium rare and I order my filet medium. Mine comes back medium well (I'm OK with it bc I rarely eat steak & Im not a fan of a bloody plate) but his is too. We never complain or send back, but it was so bad for the $, we sent it back. Dallas, our server was great about it, super understanding and took it right back. Problem solved right? No. One of the owners comes out and tells us, next time we want a steak medium rare to order it "rare plus." HUH? We frequent steak houses pretty often and I have never heard that.
