Service is always amazing here! They are very good at explaining how everything is done if I ever want to understand. I got my tires changed, I come here regularly for my oil refills. And they make sure to let me know of any problems with my car that is a safety concern and don't charge me or make me pay for anything my car doesn't need. They always go above and beyond with their work. I spoke with Bav and he seems like a good person who really wants to help us. Can not recommend this shop, pricey to an extreme level. $200 for an oil change are you kidding me??? Brought my car in for an alignment $700 later they said they've done all they can, car still pulls right. Just drive your car into the ocean you'll get better value for money spent. read more

I decided to write a review for this Midas because they knocked it out of the park for me this week. In coming to yelp to write the review I was very surprised to see some low star ratings but I see they are all from 5+ years ago and the manager Amar told me he took over in 2017. So best to read the current reviews for the new management. The old ones are...old. Anyway, I went to the Mr Lube next door to this Midas on Hastings only because of the flyer I received to change seasonal tires while you wait, no appointment. You can read my review on this site, but Mr. Lube put 2 of my tires on the rims backwards, didn't balance at least one of my tires, and bent a plate behind the wheel! They recommended brake pads and an oil change (I was skeptical but the pads were done), but get this: Mr Lube couldn't get the brake pads they recommended, and didn't have the oil my car needed in stock. Didn't have oil in stock?? I had time to kill so I walked next door to Midas to ask them about these hard-to-find brake pads. They were able to get the pads, had the oil in stock. Midas also fixed the metal noise from one wheel, no charge. I brought my other vehicle to Midas the next day for a tire changeover, they charge 30% less per tire! In hanging around there I was impressed with how knowledgable they were, how they were straight up about what was and wasn't needed, were able to get the parts/oil that Mr. Lube couldn't, and their prices were totally reasonable. Great guys. Normally I don't go to national chains like Mr. Lube and Midas, but the way it turned out I walked into Midas unexpectedly and had a great experience. It had the feel of an independent shop with solid people who are good at what they do. I'll go to Amar and Manny at this Midas any day! They're straight-up guys. Finally mechanics I can trust! Absolutely terrible experience. Rude staff. Had no record of my scheduled appointment so I had to wait for several hours until 'someone freed up'. Refused to give a time estimate. After waiting for several hours, they ended up not doing the specified work as their database didn't have information on my common vehicle. Further, the mechanic drove my vehicle with the emergency brake on, stalled the vehicle and left my door unlocked and unattended. He also did not properly perform the paid-for safety checks as he did not list several issues that I was already aware of. Avoid if at all possible. read more

The people here lied to me and told me my back brakes were completely worn out and I was in serious danger. I was suspicious because the last time I got my tires changed over (at the shop I normally go to), they said my brakes were like new, and when I bought the car a year earlier, the brakes WERE new. I decided to take my car back to the shop I normally go to, and guess what? My brakes are all fine. Do NOT fall for the discount on an oil change at this location. Surprisingly, a very pleasant experience. I say surprisingly, because pleasant is not normally a word I would associate with auto service. However, the staff proved to be very knowledgeable and competent in quickly diagnosing, and repairing my vehicle where others had fallen short. I've since returned for minor maintenance and always found the staff helpful and friendly. I'm also impressed with the cleanliness of the shop. A lot can be told about an outfit by how clean and organised they keep their facility. All-in-all, I'm happy dealing with this shop and will continue to do so. Under new management since September, The guys in this Midas had definitely went far and beyond to make sure that my 2008 Honda, Odyssey Touring was in excellent condition to drive my children around. Got 2 Groupon for Midas on Hastings.I made a online appointment and they never called me when I stated it was a Groupon.Made a normal appointment and I got call in 5 minutes.The manager left a I hate working here tone on my Voicemail.I called back and confirmed my appointment and when I told the manager it was a Groupon for a oil change and alignment his tone changed to why do you want a alignment?I said cause my car pulls to the left and it's part of the Groupon.He then said what time do you want to do you want to come in, I said 4 or 5.He then says can you make it earlier my oil tech goes home early.The Groupon says it includes a wheel Alignment but he said they charge $40 more if Camber or Caster has to be done.Doesnt a wheel alignment cover all these aspects toe,Caster.Camber?Through all of this the manager sounded very rude and unprofessional.I asked if my wife could get her car in the same day?He said I cant do both cars on the same day maybe one car one day and the other another day.I said that's fine then I say I'd like the oil changed and he asks me what type of make and model of the car?He says do you have to use synthetic oil on the car?I say no and he asks me are you sure?I said we have been using normal oil.I mean the nerve of the guy to ask am I sure?Then I tell him I got the Alignment Groupon and again asks me why I want a alignment?I said it's. because it's included in the Groupon.This is where I became upset the most.He asks me you live in Maple Ridge?I said yes.Why do you want to come all the way here?he says.I told him cause it's the only Midas that offers the Groupon for a oil change and a alignment.He says fine just bring it in then.After all this I didn't want to step one foot in the door of Midas Hastings Vancouver,never the less touch my cars.I highly recommend you go somewhere else to do your automotive needs,because as you can read.This shop doesn't take care of customers needs.I called Groupon and cancelled both Groupons. read more

Awful experience. I asked them to fix a window that was not working. After charging me for a diagnostic, then doing the repair, they realized their diagnostic was wrong and the window still didn't work. After 5 hours of waiting (seriously, 5 hours), they sent me home with my window stuck in the halfway position. They told me they needed to order a part and it would take a week for the part to arrive. Do they really expect me to drive a car with a window that can't close? On top of the terrible technical capabilities on their workers, the manager is rude and doesn't care about customer service. I will never go back to this location. read more

To make a long story short I had a failed manifold on a BMW X5. The dealer (of course) wanted $5,000 just for the part and who knows what outrageous amount of the labour. I had a friend find an after market part for ($800) for me and Midas graciously installed the part for me. They did a technically difficult job and with fantastic results. Had a Groupon for an oil change, was told I would have to wait a couple weeks first the appointment because I was using a Groupon. I was also told that the dealer recommended synthetic oil for my vehicle and would have to pay an additional $49.00. I informed them that when I got my oil changed in the past at the Ford dealership they would just use conventional 5w-20(as recommended in the owners manual and that is all I wanted Midas to use. He said his mechanics are all licensed and they would only put in synthetic oil, what a load of crap..., If Ford puts in conventional oil I would think Midas should be about to do the same without the typical up sell's.. Long story short, called Groupon to get a refund and will never deal with Midas again! read more

I don't usually write reviews but this time I have been pushed too far. They forgot to put my oil cap back on! A few weeks after getting some work done, I noticed exhaust coming in the cabin followed by the oil light turning on. After I opened the hood and found out what happened I called Midas and told them the situation. No apology was given for almost destroying my car and in fact they were going to charge me for another oil change. I have never been so disappointed. read more

i had a flat tire on hastings street in north burnaby. was close to the midas auto service it was around 5: 15 friday afternoon pulled in to the store and the service manager was the only one left that day , he was ready to go home . i asked if there was any chance that i could get help changing my tire . he said no problem he turned on the shop compressor and brought my car in changed the tire and had me on the road in no time thank you very much, great customer service. read more
