Pretty good experience overall. Knowledgable and friendly staff with a very clean and well maintained space. Coffee and popcorn machine for customers that are waiting, and some comfy seating around the area. They did a pretty quick job and were able to fit me in for a single tire change. Took longer than they promised though, and I had to go ask them to pay and to get my keys when I saw my car sitting in the parking lot. Also they didn't have any all season tires in stock. So far the tires been good and the re-torque took literally 5 minutes. Would recommend coming here for your tire needs. read more

I've purchased tires at Kal Tire before, but I've also taken my car at this Kal Tire location for servicing and minor tire repairs, and I've been amazed by their very professional and old fashioned friendly service (they greet you by your name once you enter the store, or they will open the door for you). I really like that they're honest too because I thought I needed a new battery and I asked them to have it checked, but they told me that I have about 50 percent left, so I wouldn't need to buy a new battery. I do appreciate that they value safety because they will always tell you to come back for re-torquing service if they worked on your wheels or brakes. There is also a waiting area with free popcorn and coffee. The TV with actual sound is quite nice too! read more

Hopped into my car today and I noticed a bit of a lean toward the drivers side. Either I gained a lot of weight or I had a flat! Sure enough when I got out to check the driver's side, the tire had a screw in it. Luckily I was still at home when I found the flat so I quickly put on the spare and drove to this Kal Tire location. After walking in and showed the screw in my tire, the technician quickly brought it inside and I was told by him it would be done by the end of the day! I came in roughly around 5:30 and my tire was ready to go by 5:45. Overall I was happy and relieved that this flat was fixed right away and I was on my way a lot quicker than I would have been if I would have gone to the competition that I called for a quote on time! I would not recommend, sold me two falty tires. I was in Abbotsford and my tire went flat. Guy pulled up in a truck with lots of tires in his flat bed and helped me....looked at the tire and said, "they sold you a faulty tire". Great experience with this location. I setup an appointment for tire swap. I had a problem with my wheel lock and they were willing to wait for me to sort it out before having them breaking my locks and add extra $100 for breaking it. Luckily the guy from the dealership told me it it just on my trunk. lol. One thing that I've like with this location is that the manager/supervisor harpal was really nice and willing to understand if you have a situation. There was also one time that I bought a set of winter tires and rims from fb marketplace and i had nowhere to store them since i only live on an appartment. I ask kaltire if they do storage and they only charge $100/9mos. After few wks, I wanted to change my summer tires to winter tires that I've stored. They made an exception on reCharging me for another storage fee (that was the time that I didn't knew where my wheel lock keys are). So far, this was a great experience and i got only charged for $44 on swapping my tires. Great service!!!! I would continue changing tires and renting storage with them each winter/summer season!!! read more

Due to Covid-19 social distance and me having a bad backache Harpal offered me a chair to sit outside the entrance door whilst my car went in for service. I really was awed and appreciate this by this gesture! He has gone beyond in providing this excellent customer service. I had same situation where my car was ready and the technician dropped off the keys on the back shelf.... I was standing near the cashier for 10 minutes and no acknowledgement. I finally had to go up to cashier and say my car is ready.. gee not even an apology... not much of a thank you when I paid either... hey I just spent like $800 which is lot of coin to me so a simple thank you or enjoy your new tires would have been nice. The only saving grace was the popcorn machine and hot chocolate... that would be the only reason for me to be a repeat customer. I had my bolts retorqued at North Van Kal Tire and the service guy was very friendly.. I regretted buying from the Grimmer location and will go out of my way to buy from N. What a bunch of BS Went to Kal Tire because my tire was flat, and told them I was willing to purchase all 4 tires, drop a grand right there and have it done. I had called in the morning and was told that the tires were in stock at that location, and they had time to install them right there on the same day. I went there and was told that not only did they not have the tires in stock, that it would take a week to order them in, and they wouldn't even be able to install them either. They wouldn't even help me with my flat tire, I was stuck in Burnaby trying to get help, and Kal Tire turned me away from what could have been a 5 or 10 minute fix. The staff here don't give a crap about anyone, they're all lazy and full of excuses. The management is next to non-existant, they let the staff refuse business and do whatever the hell they want. If I was a business owner, I would take advantage of any situation where someone walks through the door and offers to drop $1000 right there instantly. Don't go to this location, there are way better tire places down the street on Kingsway Kal Tire is an embarrassing disgrace. They lie on the phone to get you to go there, and then tell you something different in person. I am extremely disappointed Thanks for nothing. read more

I've been a customer of this Kal Tire location for the last 2 years and have been pretty satisfied with their service in the past. I was a little put off with their service this time as I came in to have a simple flat tire repaired and remounted on to my car. Brought the tire in at 8am Tuesday morning, left it with them expecting it to done in a few hours. I didnt get a call l to tell me it was ready. So at 3pm I called and only then was I informed that the tire was ready. I asked if I could come in and have it put on, no problem according to the guy on the phone. I get there and the counter guy says "you don't have an appointment" so you can wait and we will get to it when we can. I decided to make an appt at 1:30pm the next day. At 1:30 i came in and waited to have the tire put on. It wasn't busy at all. I waited 45 mins before I decided to see what was taking so long. To my surprise the car was already in the parking lot, ready to go. But I had to wait another 5 mins while 2 employees discussed something more important than helping a customer waiting in the store. Sorry guys, but I think there are plenty of places that will appreciate my business in the future. Just an update, had winter tires installed by these guys, the wheels were so over torqued, it was impossible to get them off by hand. Took it to another shop, they wouldn't come off using a air wrench. Had to use a 5ft breaker bar to get them loose! What kind of tire shop are you guys running there?? read more

I wanted to get some new wheels for my Ford Escape 2016. I went to the one in south vancouver and I did not like the service the guy just looked at a catalog and told me the size of my wheels are not common. I felt he had no interest in helping me or making a sale. I tried this location and Tim was way more helpful, he looked at options for me and assured me there were options for my vehicle. He made some phone calls too and really helped. They ordered the wheels and got a call to book an appointment when they came in. I came to this location looking for specific tires, high performance run flat tires. The service rep was very helpful as he came out to check out my old balding winters. He took a quick look and told me what I already knew, the treads were low. I already did the penny test on the treads. Here's how to find out if your tires need replacement: 1. Take a Canadian or American penny and pinch between your thumb and forefinger. 2. Put Queen Elizabeth II's crown into several grooves between the treads 3. If you can see the top of QE's crown, then your treads are worn and needs replacement. Or if you see top of Lincoln's head, replace them tires. In Canada, it's illegal to have treads lower then 1.55 mm. Unfortunately, the rep told me the tires I specifically wanted is not in stock and it could take 3 weeks to order it from the Portland warehouse and it would be very expensive. So, he offer me Nokian tires which I declined. I went online and search for it at Discount Tires in Bellingham. It was in stock and I booked appointment directly from their website. I headed down south on the weekend and got the tires replaced at a better price then anywhere in BC. It's great that we have the option of going to WA state for better prices and options. Overall, the service rep was friendly and helpful even if I didn't find the specific tires I required. This Kal-tire is very clean for a tire/auto repair shop in this area of burnaby. read more

After a horrible day dealing with Ford motors, I ended up renting a car from enterprise. Within a few kilometres the low tire light switched on. The enterprise staff told me to go to the nearest kal tire which was this Burnaby branch. I was helped by Paul and he said Dustin can re-inflate my tire but may not have time to for further assessments because they were closing in 30 minutes. Dustin, was helpful and kind and taught me how to check the air in my tires. Unfortunately, he noticed my rear tire was significantly flatter than the rest and both him and paul decided to bring it in ther shop. He then found out that There was a screw in the tire!!! But thank goodness paul and Dustin were working because they both stayed overtime to check and change my flat tire. I recommend anyone to go here. The service is great and the staff if knowledgeable. I usually absolutely hate mechanics and shops but I have to say I've had the best experience I've ever had at this Kal Tire location. The manager Robin took care of me like a friend, not only did he go out of his way to open the door for me but he also remembered my name and offered to wave my Tire repair fee and offered to change my wipers for the same price so got a buy something get something free. I would recommend this location to anyone that needs repairs on their vehicle and definitely will be coming back for further maintenance. I found my new car repair home. read more

I previously had a flat tire from a nail and received a free tire from Kal Tire on Ontario St. I was so impressed with their customer service so I went straight to them when I needed new snow tires. Ontario St location was booked, but the Metrotown location was able to fit me in. I had an early morning appt and drove in only to find the parking lot blocked off. I came into the store while my hubby waited in the car idling. Robin was on the phone and wouldn't even look at me. After about 5 mins, another worker comes in, so I tell him the driveway is blocked, but I have an appt. Robin angrily interrupts me and tells me he is on the phone and will get to me in a minute. He stays on the phone for another 10 mins and answers another call before telling me to park my car on the street because I have to wait for another car to exit and a worker to move the car. He slams a quarter on the counter (for parking). I tell him I have a 9am appt and he tells me my car will be seen at 9am. I respond.....it's 9:20am. Ohhh we will see you in 10-15 mins. I think in my head - isn't it common sense to place the call on hold and tell the person with the idling car in your store to explain that they need to park on the street rather than finish a long phone call and then telling me? Wow, an oblivious and inconsiderate douche, but I told my husband to park and didn't want to be rude and have to wait extra time, upsetting an already irritated worker. A line had started, so I courteously advised the next car the "process" they have set up and that he would have to park on the street. He was just as confused and irritated as us. Once inside, Robin apologized for being rude and explained that the day before was chaos and no one could move, so they decided to block off the driveway. I accepted the apology, but it did not take away his incredibly condescending and rude attitude. While I can understand that it is a busy season and the snow must have frustrated everyone, it did not take away the sour taste in my mouth of a middle aged man raising his voice because he is frustrated at his job. A grown up apology does not make up for childish behaviour. I will not go back to Kal Tire. As we were leaving, the next person was told to bring their car in while we exited. They forgot to place our all season tires back in the car. As a big service truck came to make a delivery, I hear Robin scream "why are people so stupid?" I have been a loyal Kal Tire customer for many years and had purchased tires from them for my last three cars. However, when I brought the car in to swap my winter to regular tires, I am told that service is no longer free. I can understand that a company can change its policy for new customers, but I cannot believe it will not grandfather a promised support for existing customers. I had recommended Kal to my friends previously but I have to consider whether or not to purchase my next set of tires from them. Throughout the experience I dealt with: * Insik Hwang (James) (Sales & Service) * Robin Kean (Sales & Service) * Paul Toma (Manager) Vehicle work was performed on: 2010 BMW 328I Sedan Summary: * On January 28, 2015 I visited this Kal Tire location to get a slow leak repaired on my rear driver-side tire. * Upon completion of repair, scratches and gouges were all around the wheel. * I brought it to the attention of Robin, he told me he'll call the wheel refinishing company and arrange a time when I could drop off the car and get it repaired. * In my head I'm thinking that wow, even though they made a mistake, they were willing to take responsibility for their mistakes and fix it! Which I was very happy for! * Up until this point, I am polite and respectful in speech as I do understand un-mounting and mounting a run-flat tire is a lot more difficult than a conventional tire. * The following day I get a call from James who tells me to come by so the manager can take a look at the damaged wheel in question. * Upon my arrival, Paul greets me, even before walking to the car, he says, "the damage was NOT caused by us!" * Paul goes on to state, "oh this is normal for BMW, I have a BMW!" * My argument was, I had gotten all 4 tires replaced within the last year with ZERO damage. * I also asked if he was okay with damage to his wheels every time he changed tires on HIS BMW and he could NOT answer that question because of course he wouldn't be okay with it. * At this time, I am extremely ticked off trying to argue with someone about something that I know 100% was not like that prior to coming to Kal Tire. * In the end, the problem was resolved to a certain extent ONLY because I started to raise my voice. I was polite and respectful up until this point because I didn't want to be a difficult customer but clearly I was not taken seriously and nothing was being done to resolve the issue. * In my own time, on my day off, I had to get the wheel repaired by Western WheelCraft. * I was later reimbursed $100 for the repair. Paul still never admitted that the damage was caused by them and I had to get the wheel fixed on my own time and get it reimburse from them at a later time even though James and Robin had originally said they would handle it for me entirely. Overall I went from being extremely impressed with how the business was ran in terms of how the shop looked, how the employees interacted with the customers in a polite and respectful manner to being extremely disappointed. As a result, I will NOT be returning to this Kal Tire ever. I would rather drive a further distance to do business with a reputation shop that stands behind their work and takes responsibility for their mistakes instead of denying it to try and save a few bucks. I wish they would have handled this matter with more composure and professionalism. I would have still been a returning customer if they had stuck to the original plan of getting the wheel fixed for me without me having to waste my time standing around arguing with the manager for nothing. read more

I brought my car in for a vehicle inspection (125$ + tax). I told the employee to contact me once the inspection was complete so we could speak about what work needed to be done and an estimate on the repairs. i received the call after the inspection was complete, they told me what was wrong and they gave the estimate as asked. the problem was they were charging over 2000$ to do the repairs. i called around to a few shops looking for a cheaper alternative. every shop that quoted me was around a 1000$ and the Kal Tire down on boundary road quoted me 900$-1000$. they took advantage of the situation i was in (not being able to insure my car until it was brought up to code). and to boot these lil sleaze bags started work on the truck anyways (even though i gave them clear instructions not to do any repairs during our phone conversation). I show up a hour and a half after speaking with with them and just my luck there's a 300$ bill waiting for me. they added labour cost to my inspection which was a fixed cost (125 + tax). they tried to make me pay before going though the cost break down with me. they got frustrated saying there printers not working and got very defencive.
