I have been a customer of Tire Pirates (Chinook) for 15 years and purchased tires for 2 vehicles as needed. I have found their prices very competitive and the service great. I have also had our vehicles serviced (after warranty expired) by their mechanics and been totally satisfied. They don't upsell service work that isn't required and their prices are very reasonable. Maybe not the place to do mechanical work. Had a good experience getting new tires there, but an oil change went badly awry. Booked a simple oil change. They were obviously busy and had to rush the job, even though I dropped off GMC vehicle for the day. Installed the wrong oil filter, over-tightened it. and it leaked oil all the way home and left as pool underneath in my drive way. Disgusted, I had another mechanic look at it and confirmed above. After looking for awhile Tire Pirates found my tires and provided the best price and outstanding service of any place i have ever dealt with. they held my tires for me with no deposit, accommodated my schedule for the installation and completed the swap in less then an hour, i have never had such great service. I've been buying my tires through Tire Pirates Chinook location. Had a full set of 33x12.5 installed on my son's 4Runner and just recently had a full set of Toyo Open Country AT3's installed on my Tundra. Here's the thing - you won't find nicer people to deal with Kyle and Sergio went above an beyond to accommodate, had very fair pricing and the installs went smooth... no surprises, no added costs. From a "knowing their stuff" perspective they REALLY know their brands that they sell. I wasn't sure which way I wanted to go with the tires for my Tundra so Kyle and Sergio walked me through the choices, settled on the Toyo and I couldn't be happier. If I could give zero stars I would. I was referred to Tire Pirates almost 8 years ago by a friend, but didn't have a car in need of their services until last week. My friends' review from the pat was so shining that I referred family and friends for years. When it was my turn to experience the brilliance of Tire Pirates, I was excited! Less than a year ago I purchased a Prius with new "all season" tires. I knew after almost a year of heavy driving that my schedule and my safety required decent winter tires. I had priced out my dealership and Costco, and honestly thought I could get better service from Tire Pirates. So I called to ask a couple questions and get a quote. But unfortunately didn't make it past the first couple questions. I didn't have the information the gentleman on the phone wanted so I asked him if I should go out and look at my car, as it was an easy solution. He was condescending and truly off putting. I asked him not to speak to me in such a rude way and he hung up on me. I find this a very sad situation. I will no longer refer anyone to Tire Pirates, nor will I seek out their services. In conclusion my dealership matched the Costco price so I went with them. As an FYI : When searching Tire Pirates for this review only one location popped up. I do not know if the two locations are affiliated or managed in the same way. I communicated with the location close to Chinook Center. read more

Called these amazing guys at 9am sharp this Saturday morning asking if they had availability today to repair the leak in my tire caused by a wood screw (see my Canmore Canadian Tire Review). Jason said come on down right now and we'll look after you. I was in and out in 20 minutes! These guys have my business for life! Also they were cheaper than crappy tire, although if that wasn't the case I'd happily pay more for the fabulous service and quality of work. The experience of a big chain store versus a much smaller store shows at least to me how important it is to support the little guy who values good experiences and relationships with his customers. Opposed to a robotic, complacent employee of a big nationwide company who has zero concept of customer relations. Thank you Jason from Tire Pirates. Hello everybody! I am here to review the Tire Pirates guys because I just read a whole bunch of somewhat conflicting reviews and I thought that my input could be useful to anybody who thinks about using them for car fixes/maintenance/etc.... We found this place absolutely accidentally (it was recommended by our "used car salesman" and we tried it and (go figure the labels and stereotypes) absolutely LOVED it) These people are awesome. They are honest and I being a HUGE sceptic all together and a very particular one when it does to my car (dah) DO trust them. For me, that is as huge of a reference as they come..... I brought my S.U.V tires in 1 at a time, do to lack of space in my car I could not bring in all 4 at once. I got the factory tires Swapped for my winters. Apparently there is no communication between the front desk and the shop. One tire was Backwards/Directionals also I had to re balance 2 of the 4 tires. As I had a vibration on the steering wheel. How do you mess up balancing? At the end I paid double to get my tires swapped as I had to go to a different shop to get these guys mistakes fixed. If there was documentation and communication this shouldn't of happened. Positives: Front desk staff are friendly they offered to fix it. Under the circumstances I couldn't bring it in to fix it out of convenience. So I had to pay double for the same job. At the end of the day things happen. I drove away from this place today feeling surprised that I could be so happy with a Tire place! Bought 4 new tires from them last month, that were WAY cheaper than anywhere else. They were super helpful and told me I could pick when I wanted to come in. Got in the next day at 9am and was out by noon. Noticed a shimmy less than a month later, and they got me in when it was good for me (today), and didn't charge me a cent for a realignment. I was experiencing strange noises from my vehicle and, when I took it to Tire Pirates, they diagnosed it as the wheel bearings. They gave me a detailed quote and explained exactly what had to do be done and gave me options on the new bearings as well as explanations of the differences between OEM, 'good', and 'top quality' bearings and suggestions as to which would be appropriate. The work was done on time and there were no surprises and no additional costs when it came time to pay. Excellent service and good prices! read more

Called these guys for a quote; pricing was comparable to other shops and only notably less expensive than dealerships. All of this 'cheapest tires in town' seems like hype as I called KAL and they were 10% cheaper without even trying to price-match. Found this place on a Google search when looking for new tires. Glad I did! They were by far the cheapest for price that I found (including beating Costco) and they were really friendly. I had an appointment scheduled for 2pm, but dropped the car off early and was just heading to the mall to kill some time, they took the car in early and had it done by 1:30!! They actually gave me time in my day back! They didn't try to upsell me on anything, the bill came in at the exact amount as the quote that was emailed to me a few days prior. Great little shop and I would recommend going here the next time you need new tires! read more

A co-worker recommended I go here for tires when I mentioned I would be getting new ones. What a great recommendation! I have had nothing but bad experience after bad experience at mechanics but this place was amazing. Good customer service. No pressure or upselling - he outlined the benefits of 2 tires for my Jeep and the cheaper one was more fitting for me. In no way did he push me towards the more expensive option. I would say I saved about $350 compared to quotes I found at most of the other tire places. Got me in the next day to get the tires changed. Great location - I just walked over to Chinook mall for lunch and got a call my tires were done in half the time they quoted me. Came back for a re-tightening of my lugnuts as recommended a few days later amd was done within 5 minutes. Absolutely fabulous place. Highly recommend! read more

This is the BEST place to get tires done in Calgary. Good service and very reasonable prices. Everyone says Costco is the lowest in town or KalTire. They are liars. Tire Pirates has them beat by far. These guys put deep scratches on all four of my rims when they put new tires on. I complained, and after being spoken to condescendingly, the half wit salesman said Tire Pirates would take my rims to Alberta Wheel Repair (which will be my next review) and fix them. Tire Pirates brought back my rims and they looked repaired. Until I drove for a week. Tore Pirates spray painted over top of powder coating. The spray paint chipped off after one week. Tire Pirates completely destroyed my rims. This place gets bad reviews on and off Yelp and many by word of mouth by people who don't take the time to write reviews on here. Take it from me, who has first hand experienced a out a thousand dollars in damage from Tire Pirates (to sand off what they did and research powder coat my rims). I have happily diverted several people from buying tires here, and those people have also diverted people from Tire Pirates. Don't let these guys within ten feet of your car!! read more

I just got back from getting my driver's side front tire patched up at Tire Pirates on 30 St SE - my tire had a metal screw stuck in it. Before I went there, I phoned 3 different auto repair shops (Fountain Tire, Midas, and a Ford dealership), and all 3 told me that I would have to leave my car for the day or that I would have to wait 3 hours. When I called Tire Pirates, they were the only company that told me to come in and that they would repair it while I waited. The tire repair took about 30 minutes and cost $30. The guys at the front were courteous, knowledgeable, and honest. I was in customer service for 10 years, and that has helped me to recognize outstanding customer service. Tire Pirates impressed me so much that I booked an appointment to get winter tires. I highly recommend this location. Prices are reasonable and the staff are great. I will now be a repeat customer. read more

Tire Pirates offer good prices on their tires. They are professional and have good mechanics. I gave a poor rating when I heard multiple noises after tire installation. It turned out to be loose bolts. In my opinion Tire Pirates are the best in town for price and service. read more

Tire experience was great. They gave me options and were quick about it. As for the mechanics department....not so good. They quoted me $700, but it turned into $1200. Then when I got a second opinion on my brakes, the 10% T.P. told me I had was actually 30% from the second mechanic. NOT a good experience. read more

I went to the Tire Pirates at 104 61 Ave S.E. I bought a new set of tires from Tire Pirates. I found the staff knowledgeable and friendly. Their tire prices were by far the most reasonable in Calgary. Also, they were very timely. I was told my car would be ready in an hour, I went for a walk, returned in an hour, and my car really was ready! What is it like to finally receive real mech service? Like a breath of fresh air. I went to these guys to shop for new tires. They are nice, laid back guys. They were slagging Costco tire shop a lot and one of the guys used to work for costco. Their price was $240 more than costco for the same tires. I went to Costco. I did not want to wait for costco appointment to have installed so i went back to tire pirates to at least give them some business. They have a fairly competitive price for installation. Once they found out the tires were from costco the price suddenly climbed to $200. This was ridiculous and i told them such. Since i had made the appointment and driven there i decided to let them over charge me but told them i would not be back as i felt cheated. They then told me they would not do the work they agreed to do and i had to leave. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. read more

I could not have been happier about my experience with Tire Pirates this past week. After ruining a tire when I opted to hit a curb instead of an intoxicated pedestrian, I spent a few hours calling around to various shops, searching kijiji, etc. and kept running into roadblocks and chauvinistic males pretty much everywhere. Until I called Tire Pirates. John answered the phone, was super helpful, asked about the situation (didn't just bark "what size tire" at me), suggested a few different options and even gave me some advice on what I could do to contain costs. He made it obvious that they aren't just all about the sale and that he was there to help me get my situation sorted out, not just make a buck. I will absolutely be recommending them to anyone who needs tires. The cost was right, too! For the same tires as others were quoting me, they came in at $10 less. Really great place to purchase tires from, Lloyd was knowledgeable and the staff made sure everything was 100% before leaving. They also advised that there was a rebate and printed off a duplicate receipt. Can't really ask for more then that. read more

I was in today to the Chinook location and was extremely disappointed with the customer service. The website says, "Customer Service is Our Top Priority". The man at the front was extremely rude and instead of trying to find a solution kept telling me that I was wrong. I did not get an apology, just an extremely bad attitude. Service and price were good. What got me was an estimate for repair I was handed when I went to pay. I was told it was a free service. I looked to the bottom of the estimate and saw 1735.00. Apparently my truck needed everything from ball joints and tie rods to windshield wiper blades (34.00 alone). This truck rides like it's on rails and the wiper blades are perfect. I have been working on cars for 45 years. I am wondering how many people take this estimate seriously and get the repairs done? Seems kinda funky to me. Stick to the tires and installation. read more
