I took our car to Kal-Tire (9950 Macleod Trail South, Calgary, AB) for winter tires on Thursday, November 6, 3:30pm. I arrived back home after dark. The next morning, my husband Peter was loading our car and found one of the emblems from the center of the wheel sitting in the back of the car. The emblem was cracked and there was a crack in the center on our passenger rear wheel. Driving soon after, that particular tire reading in the car dashboard would disappear then reappear off and on. My husband called Kal-Tire that morning to let them know about the wheel and sensor. I took a photo of our car dashboard with no tire pressure reading for that tire. November 13, my husband called again. The girl on the phone didn't understand the difference between the tire and wheel, and kept wanting to book an appointment for us for new tires. My husband finally asked if we should bring our car in and she agreed that we should. I took the car back to Kal-Tire that afternoon. A woman, who was unfriendly and difficult, looked at the wheel and suggested that I just found the emblem in the back of my car, that it had been in the back of our car a while. I said no. I reminded her of the sensor issue. She took our name and info and said the manager would call. He didn't. We called again on November 14, and talked with Jacob, a young guy, who was much more helpful. He explained that the damage was not noted in our file on the computer, but it was noted in the printed notes. Jacob suggested taking the car to our car dealership for a new cap and emblem, and we would be reimbursed for new center cap, emblem, and work needed. I called our dealership, ordered the emblem, waited a few days, and picked it up November 19. Immediately afterward, I called Kal-Tire to book an appointment - I was put on hold. After 9 minutes, I hung up and drove to Kal-Tire. After waiting to be seen and for an employee to check our sensor, he came to tell me that it isn't going to read because it does not have a sensor (it does). Another employee looked at it a second time only to give me the same information. I showed them the photo I took of our tire reading on the dashboard. After not listening to me, I suggested that they call my husband. After talking with him, they booked yet another appointment to bring the car back and have the sensor fixed. November 25, our wheel and sensor were finally fixed properly. When I asked for a printed receipt, the woman (same woman who helped me before), handed it to me and said "No proof that it was us that broke it but we fixed it for you anyway." Booked online for winter tire change over & was given notification of a 2hr appointment time. Arrived early & confirmed the 2hr appointment. Arrived back on site & my car was still in the same spot. They had not even started the change over... then rushed my tire change over (did receive a % of for trouble) Got home & they only changed 3 out of the 4 tires. Got ahold of closer Kaltire & they got me in directly & then also told tires were not balanced either. Went back the next day & demanded my $ back was given it, as I had documentation & photo's to prove. Would not go back to this Location Found out they had new management they need to fix many issues at this location read more

We made appointments a full month in advance for 9am to change our tires over for the winter. We arrived at 8:45 as we know it's the busy season and wanted to be considerate of their time. It wasn't until 9:50 that I saw them bring my car into the shop to actually change them over. I didn't even up leaving until after 10:45. I will not be back. read more

i ordered new winter tires and rims from Kaltire at 9950 Macleod and was going to have them installed and the summer tires stored for the season. When I went for my appointment to drop the car off, Ray, the manager talked to me and told me that I should also get the sensors for the valves so the tire monitoring system would work properly after the tire change, That would be an additional $240 to the original quote. I told him to go ahead. He told me it's going to take 2.5 to 3 hours to complete the job. About 3 hours later, Ray called me and said that the new rims were not at the shop and they would have to pick them up at some other location later, and said I could take the car back for now. When I got back to the shop, hoping to get an explanation of what happened. I saw Ray who waved to me but disappeared into the shop area. So, I ended up waiting at the counter to talk the rep who had no clue of what was going on. I never got to talk to Ray - no apologies, no explanation, no follow-up. That was Monday and now it's Saturday, and I haven't heard from them on my new appointment. I have always bought new tires from them and have them changed and service with them ever since the location opened years ago. I go there to get the tire pressure checked from time to time, and I've always received good courteous service from staff such as Fadi. But this is a huge disappointment to me, to learn how they could treat a long time loyal customer like me. I really don't know if can go back to them any more. read more

Tire Service Only Picked up a new set of tires; no problems there. But when it came to the alignment, first they could not do it because it was "too rusty". I broke it loose myself and brought it back & they "aligned it". A few months later I noticed toed in wear & got an alignment elsewhere. It was toed in over 0.30 degrees. I went to talk with them, expecting a refund on the alignment and compensation for the re-do (never mind the 50% tread loss on the edges, but the manager just did not call me back. I would not trust these clowns to change my oil & certainly won't be back. If you must, don't let them charge you for an alignment; that is all they will do. Actually aligning a vehicle would require competence. read more

I dropped in here because I had a pointy thing in my tire (nail with a screw head?) It was near where my kid went to camp for the day, so total accident. I'd never been to a Kal tire. In fact, I've always avoided Kal tire because I assumed they were like a big box tire shop, pushing customers out, making their numbers, selling people tires they didn't really need. BOY was I wrong. The puncture in my tire was sort of close to the sidewall. Not unsafely close, but I was totally worried that they would say "oh that's too close to the edge. You need to buy a new tire. No. TWO new tires, because they have to match." But no this was not at all the case. Curtis checked my tire in, said he would have a tech make the call, but assured me that one tire would be worst case scenario. I returned this afternoon, they had repaired the tire, Quentin expertly popped it back on my car while Ben chit chatted with me in the lounge. My phone was dying so he saved the day. Sidebar - I have a pixel phone and I love it, but it annoys the eff out of me that I can't just borrow other people's phone chargers. Anyhow - in addition to the magical charging station in the lounge area (and popcorn! I saw a popcorn machine!) Ben had an even more useful-to-me (because once again I forgot my charger at home) usb-c charger stashed in his office! To top it off they comped the tire repair and reinstall. I don't live anywhere near this Kal Tire but you can bet I will be back and I will be telling all my friends! (And the internets!) read more

I just got my winter tires mounted on rims...I checked prior to going if they could program my new sensors...after I put the tires on no go the sensors were not working... Went to the store again...no go they couldn't program:(...I had to go to the dealership and pay $70 and 3 extra hrs of my time... I've gone to this Kal Tire after another shop messed up my install and now I've gone back again to them for Summer Tires. I had my studded tires on and wanted to desperately get some summers put on ... It's June! Ben and his team at Kal Tire were and have always been awesome. I live 30 KM away from this Kal Tire but I will def drive out this way for the service they offer. In the waiting area they have popcorn and magazines that I liked. I called in the morning and though they were swamped they fit me in. Anyways 5 stars for this Kal Tire! From getting nails (yes several nails) out of my tires (yes more than one tire!), to having them check to make sure my rims were the proper size for my car, they've been nothing but helpful. I had a flat tire that was unrepairable due to the damage being too close to the tire wall, and I had went to a Kal Tire closer to my house originally to get it changed. I ended up getting all 4 tires changed and they told me they included balancing and all that as a package for free. They ended up not balancing them quite right so I went to this location to get it corrected! The staff were so friendly and understanding, they made sure my requests were met and that my car drove as smoothly as I had hoped it would! They rebalanced my tires so quickly and efficiently as well, estimated 90 minute wait time and it was done within 30! WONDERFUL location for any of your needs. read more

I received such amazing service from this Kal Tire location! I got a razor blade in my tire and took my vehicle there to buy a new tire and switch out my spare. I did not have an appointment and it was clear there was many vehicles to be taken care of before mine. They did not hesitate to come out and check everything out and offer a quick switch! I had my newborn daughter with me and we were heading to BC. They made sure everything was good for our road trip! It was exceptional service and I will be going to this location for any future services as I've never really used a kal tire before. Amazing courteous service! Brought my truck into them needing a flat repair & couldn't get the tire out of its storage up under the box. Conner came out and aided me in doing so, then they took the loose tire and found a "bead" leak where two other places told me it was a slow puncture leak...one even said too close to the sidewall that their patch wasn't large enough & to try someone like Kal Tire. Glad I did...they repaired the tire & when I picked it up he insisted it was "no charge". Keep up the good work!!! If I need your services again, I'll certainly be back! read more

I have received some shoddy service from this store on more than one occasion. I bought new Nokian winter tires and rims. After I left with the tires installed, my steering wheel would vibrate at higher speeds. I returned it and learned the rims were bent. The technician installed bent rims. On another occasion, the technician didn't return my lug nuts after a tire swap. On a third occasion, the lug nuts were cross threaded on more than three of four tires. This store has cost me a lot of money and time due to poor workmanship. read more

I stopped in at this Kal Tire location while driving a rental car in Calgary, and noticed a warning light about one of the tires. As a visitor to the city, I was not a customer of this store, but they were extremely helpful and courteous. Checked all the tires for damage and proper air pressure, made adjustments as required, and I was on my way in about 15 minutes! We had a nail in our tire and a slow leak that was encountered when my family and I were evacuated from Fort mcmurray during a wild fire. I took my vehicle to this location and the staff and Ben were excellent, they fixed my tire for free quickly and a few days later we returned for a re-torque. Very friendly staff. I will never bring my vehicle to Kal Tire again after my experience at this location. They damaged four brand new wheels that they took out of the box. The manager tried to blame it on me and then on the factory that made the wheels (once they realized that they took the brand new wheels out of the box from the factory and that the wheels had never been driven on). They ended up realizing that their installers did not know how to put the tire on the rim properly (they needed to be reverse mounted--not uncommon for wheels), and they sent them to someone to have the wheels fixed. The person they sent the wheels to further damaged the wheels. The manager then told me it was not Kal Tire's responsibility because it was the fault of the man who fixed the wheels, even though they sent the wheels to him to be fixed! Once we finally had the wheels "fixed" (the damage is still noticeable) it took them four attempts to balance the new tires on the wheels. They explained that it is because the tires were "cheap", even though they are Z-rated tires that THEY SELL. I gave up and went to Tire Pirates. It took them half an hour to balance the tires and explained that they see at least a few people a day who have the same story dealing with Kal Tire. In the end, I left Kal Tire with four damaged wheels, imbalanced tires, and $125 less in my wallet. I would not recommend anyone to this location or Kal Tire in general. If this is how they deal with their customers, I do not know how they maintain any business whatsoever. read more
