The calamari was filling, and both entrees we ordered were cooked well. The gnocchi was nicely done also since it was not mushy and overcooked. The drink I ordered (Bitter Venetian) was so great too! This may be my new signature drink. Sweet enough but not too sweet, and it didn't have a strong bitter liquor taste either. The tiramisu was also unique in presentation and tasted great too! Came with reservations for an anniversary dinner on a Sunday at 5pm and had a great time. The host and our waiter were super friendly, and they were happy to seat us at a "special table" for our special occasion, which was the only table with a view of the kitchen, away from the hustle and bustle of the front of the restaurant. They also gave us complementary rosé, which was appreciated. For drinks we got the Secret Garden and Amalfi Coast, and for food we ordered the North Shore Fritto Miso, Rock Shrimp Carbonara, and Roasted Chicken. My favorite was the carbonara, but all three dishes were amazing. Like I mentioned before, our server was super friendly and made us feel so welcomed. He also had great things to say about each dish. Focaccia - The bread was toasted (very crunchy) and topped with parmigiano-reggiano and chives. These were good, but a little bit oily/greasy. Roasted Chicken - The chicken was very juicy and served on top of a mushroom risotto. I would definitely get this again, the risotto was very good and worked really well with the chicken. I actually ordered their food for take out. Their take out packaging is exceptional. The fried calamari was crispy and not greasy at all. The batter was flavorful and thin. They were wrapped in parchment paper and cheese cloth which was so cute. The tiramisu had the perfect amount of sweetness. My partner and I had the best time celebrating our anniversary at Mida! The restaurant is beautiful and cozy and perfect for a date night. We were sat at the "Chefs table" which was a nice private table next to the kitchen. It was fun watching the kitchen staff cook and we got a couple of lovely treats along the way! We started with the Duck Wings and the Arancini, both delicious. Then we were treated to the Cauliflower with Romesco Sauce by the kitchen and our waitress, what a treat! The cauliflower had a nice char and the sauce was delicious. For our entree I got the Rock Shrimp Carbonara. I am not usually a carbonara fan but I knew from the photos online Mida's would be delicious. The sauce was creamy and rich but not overly thick and just so delicious. The fresh pasta was a 10/10 and cooked perfectly as well. My partner got the Short Rig Lasagna which was so flavorful and fun. We both loved the dishes! Finally, we were gifted the tiramisu which was one of the best I've ever had. It really topped off the best anniversary dinner we've had so far. VERY poor customer service; made a reservation 2 months ago, for an outside table; night of the reservation the forecast was for 40% chance of rain......they called earlier in the day to cancel, but did not leave a message. Arrived early for reservation on Saturday and were seated right away. The lighting in the restaurant was so low. It made it difficult to see/read the menu. At least have a candle at the table, so we don't have to use the flashlight on our phone. We ordered the pesto, mussels, Tiramisu and pistachio gelato. Our server recommended a great wine to go with dinner. The food wasn't hot. Server never came back to ask how things were. After dessert, he dropped the bill and said no rush. 10 minutes later the manager came and told us it was time "to seat the next seating." We had only been there for an hour and 10 minutes and no one was waiting. I felt we were profiled to get out. Which is disappointing considering this is supposedly a black owned establishment. What a gem of a spot. The ambiance is positively adorable, with clean white decor interior and a quaint plant-adorned exterior with some tables. My friend and I picked this place for it's gluten-free pasta, as she has a gluten allergy and dining out can be challenging. Mida lists it's allergens on the online menu and the waitstaff is happy to work with dietary restrictions. We split a charred cauliflower appetizer, which was laid atop what appeared to be a red pepper sauce base. It was flavorful and outstanding. I ordered the (gluten) red pesto pasta, which was outstanding. The noodles were soft with a small bite and the sauce was rich in flavor, a bit nutty and spicy. My friend ordered the (gluten free) caccio e pepe which she said was tasty. The only downside for gluten free folks is that the pasta portion is notably smaller for the GF pasta than for the regular, as shown in the image of our two pastas. For dessert I had a pistachio gelato, which came with a drizzle of olive oil on top. It was indulgent and delicious. My friend got the raspberry sorbetto which was so creamy you would think it was gelato! In all, really great spot. Justice for the gluten free pasta portions, hence the removal of one star. It is ridiculous that the restaurant did not give an advanced notice about the extra cost. They should rename the lasagna to three-bite-lasagna and carbonara to six-bite-carbonara, as it had misled ne to believe it would be suitable for lunch. I was debating whether to get the Eggplant Parmesan sandwich or the Shakshuka All' Amatriciana and ended up going with the Shakshuka based on the waitress's suggestion. I'm so glad I did because I think it was the best Shakshuka I've ever had! Even better than Tattes! It was definitely more "solid" compared to other Shakshukas and was filled with tomatoes, ricotta, and eggs, with a heavenly side of toast. Here is what I like: It's convenient (at least for me). The food, bar, and ambience is good. Here is what I don't like: The waiter forgot my drinks order initially. I suspect most of the great staff went to Newton-MA location because it's easier to park and fancier. There are bars in the neighborhood that is cooler, cheaper, fancier, and etc. It is one of the only Italian restaurant but I rather sent people to the North End for the price point. Regardless, It's nice to have both if you are into that. It's just really convenient. Gelato was amazing. Mai Tai wasn't really a Mai Tai. Everything else was good. read more

The wait was crazy long for a table inside, but we were able to get one on the patio despite the wait. It was pretty chilly, but once the food came, we forgot about the cold. Everyone at the table got a different dish, and everything tasted so good, especially the lasagna, as it was crispy on the outside and so flavorful. I got a pesto pasta dish, and I wasn't expecting it to be so loaded with pine nuts, which was a little off putting in texture, but the pasta was still pretty good. We had originally booked a table at the South End location but switched last minute to East Boston. We chose to sit indoors, which in hindsight was a mistake--the view was stunning, but the interior had more of a cafeteria feel than a cozy dining atmosphere. Our server, Deanna P., was fantastic--warm, attentive, and the highlight of our visit. The Restaurant Week cod was excellent, but the rest of the food was just okay, and overall it didn't quite live up to the hype. When we were leaving, we asked the hostess how long into the season the outdoor seating would be available. She wasn't sure and guessed September, saying it depended on the owner. Wanting clarity, I asked to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, her response was surprisingly curt--she made me feel as though I was bothering her with a silly question. It was disappointing because we were simply hoping to plan a return visit in the fall to try more of the menu with that gorgeous outdoor view. Instead, we left unsure if we'd come back. Saw this on a list of best Italian restaurants in the area and decided to give it a try while we were in town visiting colleges. The ambiance of the restaurant is super cute and intimate- we sat at a high top near the bar, but there's a side room of regular tables as well. The menu offers a lot of options that cater to all tastes as well as an impressive drink + spirit list. We actually all ended up getting the Cacio y Pepe gnocchi and sharing an order of the focaccia bread. The food came out relatively quickly and it was delicious. We did make a reservation for dinner so we didn't have to wait long and it was pretty full when we were there. They have a decent menu with many delicious dishes to choose from! We tried the Sicilian mussels (the sauce for this was amazing and so flavorful!), the short rib lasagna (I believe this is their most popular dish and it was SO yummy and the short rib was so tender! What an amazing spot in the South End. Pasta was on my must do list on my travels to Boston and I am thoroughly pleased that we chose MIDA. This is the perfect place for a cozy and intimate date or a wine night with your girlfriends. The service is impeccable. Our server was incredibly attentive and service was pretty fast. We started with an order of the arancini and focaccia. Both were rich and flavorful. The mountain of shaved cheese on both were beautiful. My boyfriend had nothing but good things to stay about the short rib lasagna. The entire plate was demolished. My tagliatelle was superb. The bitterness from the broccoli rabe complimented the richness and fattiness of the braised pork making for a wonderful bite. I paired my plate with the negroamaro.
