They recently did a store remodel. It's looks great. Kind of like Costco and Best Buy had a baby. Love the selection and the customer service is great too. The MAJOR problem is that they don't have nearly enough registers. My wait on my last THREE visits has all been 30+ minutes. They have 13 registers. There is a reason Fry's had 30+ registers. Huge miscalculation on the remodel plans to not upgrade the number of registers. I love the store, HATE the wait and lines. I'll GLADY change my review when they fix this problem. While I was there, Andrew M. helped me and he was such a huge help. Great prices, awful service. I'm a college student, so I'm very understanding of service workers and how busy they can be, but we've had a truly horrible experience here. My little brother built his PC (almost entirely MC parts) and it wouldn't post, so we took in for a consultation. It's $40 up front, which is fine. However, Hector (the technician) identified the RAM as the problem--the RAM we bought at MC. Though they swapped it out, it feels a little ridiculous to have to pay $40 when they sold the problematic part to us and when we have basically no way of finding that out ourselves. After they swapped it out, they attempted to just hand it back to us without even checking if it would post. When we asked them to do so--surprise surprise, it didn't actually post, so we left it there for diagnostics. Three days later, with no further updates, we logged into the MC site to find that they updated the status to ready for pickup without any kind of notification despite the fact they have our email and phone number on file. When we went in to pick it up, the work notes merely said "Swapped out the RAM and the unit posted fine." Clearly this wasn't the issue, as Hector had swapped out the RAM while we were there before and it didn't post. When we asked what the real issue was for future reference, we were told he was out to lunch and somewhat dismissively addressed like "What would you like me to do?" They tried to redirect us to the phone line--the phone line we had called multiple times without response--when I asked if they could follow up and message us the issue when he got back. To cap it all off, the PC has a 3070 Ti which was very visibly sagging. I noticed this just before we were about to leave, which was unbelievable because we HAD an anti-sag bracket that was now missing. When we went back in, this other worker went back to check and handed it to us without a word. When we asked where it was, he said "Oh, it was on the shelf. He forgot to put it back in," with no further comment. Like--would it kill him to have apologized for that glaring omission on behalf of the store? We had to ASK them to put it back in for us, and he paused to say "It's pretty easy," before he said he would. Separately from all this, I've been trying to buy a 5-pack of Arctic P12 fans here instead of on Amazon to support in-person retailers. Despite the fact it said they had 2 in stock online, they couldn't find it when I asked during the previous visit, so I placed an online order like they suggested. When a day went by without a confirmation email, I checked the order to find out it had been *cancelled* without any notification--once again, despite the fact they have my phone number and email. When I asked about it in person (because their online chat service is down and they don't answer the phone), the workers said that means they weren't able to find it. Shouldn't that warrant some kind of alert?? Overall, MC has fallen far short of my expectations. The prices are great and the workers are knowledgeable, but our experience with the Tech Bar and the MC system as a whole was just the worst. Yesterday I went to Micro center (not a computer guy) went into ask the team who was standing around and not giving really attention to customers. I finally had a rep help me out and I was told to wait in line and nearly 15mins waiting for the rep to help me find the ram, came up. It seems like the team isn't really wanting to help unless you are a gamer it seems like. Team is more friendly at the checkout counter and were really nice but the team that is suppose to "help" wasn't really that helpful. Best advice is that you need to go with someone that knows a lot about computers and not a regular joe it seems. Go with someone so you actually will be helped. read more

"COVID Center" not Micro Center. I came here on a Sunday, the line was longer than Black Friday. With so many people at one place, it really heightened my chance to catch COVID. They are still operating Pre-COViD model, no shipping, no curbside pick up, no online pick up, nothing.....We want to keep as many people at the same place as possible. If you work here, I would definitely complaint about luring more customer to the store than necessary. They can very easy do online ordering and curbside pick or just do direct mailing. This would lessen the employee exposure significantly. Why increase the contact, when you don't have to. Micro Center, get your ship together, move customers in and out faster, lessen the exposure to your employees and us. Time to re-think your business model, your model put us at significant RISK. Thanks for responding back, I know you are towing the company line. It's been 6 months since COVID lockdown, you would think that something is in place... Just a matter of bring the online order outside, or starting a separate line for the online orders... Currently, you have to stand in TWO lines, one to get in and another line to just pick up your online order... Not the most efficient way, and way too much time spent inside and outside of the store. If you wait long enough, you don't have to change your model. I guess maybe that's what cooperate is banking, while your employees are exposed to undue risk. Their "we will build your computer in 4 hours" promo is a complete scam. I ordered a system in the morning but was not able to include the video card I wanted online. I was told by the service people over chat to order the system without the card and I could buy it at the store and they would install it. I drove down in the later afternoon to get the card and system, only to find the system had not even been started yet. After waiting around until 4pm or so I was told they were starting my system next. I decided to return the next day. In the morning I had gotten a notice saying my system was ready for pickup. But, no one could find it. After showing the notice I received I was told that the noticed didn't mean my computer was actually ready. Turned out it had not even been started yet. They said they would start it now and it would take 3-4 hours. Three hours in I checked and was told it would be another 2-3 hours. I felt like the technicians knew what was going on but were forbidden by corporate from telling the truth. Definitely would never trust anything this company had to say in the future. read more

This was my first time ever going to a Micro Center since I was a Fry's kinda girl, but since that closed down... I needed a laptop for school and went to Micro Center to see what they had. When I went inside, there was a small line towards their department for computer parts but the laptop area had no line so fortunately I was able to just go in and start browsing their wares. I'm not the most versed in laptops, so I really didn't know which laptop to buy... but there were sales reps milling around the area so I was able to have someone help me, a guy named Julian. He really made me feel like he listened to me and asked helpful questions in return to pinpoint exactly what I needed in my laptop. He also wasn't pushy about upselling anything but I did end up buying the 2 year warranty for my stuff just in case. I also bought a wireless bluetooth over the ears headphones that another store associate helped me with (can't remember name doe :c) but they also really tried to cater to my needs. I ended up going with a moderately priced headset and am happy with that purchase. Also got warranty on that aha. But overall, I had a very pleasant experience! So glad there's still a place to go to for computer tech and whatnot. read more

I needed items from several departments and there was a friendly face there to guide me to each purchase. I brought my computer to get rid of a "conflicker" virus that I've had for awhile. The tech said that he would be able to remove it "no problem". He put an "Eset" software for $100 for three years. After 2 months I'm still getting notices from AT&T for the same confliker virus. I asked the tech about the virus that they were specifically supposed to remove. The tech said that it would take a few months to get rid of the virus which it has not done. He commented that we had an obsolete OS (Windows 7 pro) and I should get a newer OS anyway; so it really wasn't his fault if the virus cropped up again. The bottom line is that I paid $39.99 for looking at the problem then another $100 to fix the problem only to have the technician blame the computer. If the technician had a problem with the OS he should have said something at the beginning of the interaction. He waited until he could not fix the problem then blamed me and the computer for "having a dated OS". For my money I would take it to Best Buy for at least some semblance of competency. Never again. Microcenter will probably respond with heartfelt condolences but in the end nothing will be done except to point the finger at everyone else while they keep the money. read more

We were helped out when having some technical issues in buying a great bundle deal and we got help from a couple of employees, but I definitely want to highlight Matt. He was very helpful and sweet when we wanted to look for a case we couldn't find on the store floor. He was also super knowledgeable regarding all of the computer parts when we had questions about parts that weren't labeled. He was extremely friendly while discussing all the evolving computer parts and was even attentive to his section of the store, making sure that no one else needed help while talking with us. After trying to find help for 5+ mins, the guy finally comes over. I tell him the model I want and he tells me he cannot find them but offers me a similar unknown brand he claims is "much better". I'm SO annoyed with Micro Center right now. I rarely leave 1 star reviews but this is well deserved. And I am only giving them an extra star because I'm not mean and they do have good prices. I purchased a gaming monitor online for my son yesterday. I wasn't able to actually purchase it because they wouldn't accept my credit card online (makes zero sense) so they took my credit card info and reserved it. I was not able to go all the way to Tustin to pick it up so I asked my friend to go. We live over an hour away so I didn't want to leave any room for error about payment so I called them to confirm the order and ask if they'd accept cash since I could not be there to sign the credit card slip. I was put on hold for forever but was finally connected with a representative who confirmed they'd were fine accepting cash. But just to be sure, I also texted them and received that same response that cash was fine. This morning my friend woke up early and drove all the way over there to get the monitor. She stood in line for a very long while and when she finally spoke to someone to pick up the order and pay for it they told her cash was not accepted. WTF? Why would someone tell us on the phone yesterday AND text us that they accepted cash when they do not accept cash today? My friend apparently spoke to a few reps and the manager who all refused to take cash. It's FREAKING CASH! If you are scared of handling cash wash your hands after handling it. Use gloves. Such bullcrap. Or charge the credit card that was used to place the order online. In the end my friend had to use her own credit card which shouldn't had to have happened in the first place. Whoever is managing that place needs to get all the employees on the same page to prevent this from happening again so people don't waste their time communicating with you and getting false information in return or driving all the way over there to give you business only to be turned down because of this cash issue. read more

I have shopped here for years and pretty much have been satisfied. I find their prices are usually competitive. These days the OEM sets the prices on many products. This was the case with me but you can find good deals here too. I just needed to find it in stock. I was in the store on Saturday 9/19/20 and the store was completely packed. There was no effort to control the number of people entering the store. I did not feel safe. I have to be careful has myself and my wife have underlying conditions. Everyone was wearing masks but it was impossible to distance. There were no less than 50 people crammed just in the checkout queue. I would estimate there were 150-175 people inside. The parking lot was almost completely full so there were a lot of people. I would bet that they were in violation of current regulations. I needed a router and did all my research. I knew exactly what model I wanted. I checked their website and it showed 2 in stock at the store. I drive from Cypress to Tustin. I go to the aisle and asked about the product and he showed me the AC version. I said I wanted the AX version and he commented that the OEM has not released an AX yet. I then proceeded to show him my phone with the AX model showing stock. He didn't check the system or attempt to look. He was just saying here's our other AX routers and he wished they had it. Since he really didn't seem know about the product I wanted and wasn't going to put any effort in finding out, I just checked the shelves myself and left. I got back to my car and checked Best Buy and they had it. Same price. So on my way home I stop to get it. BB had control over the number of people allowed in the store and I did have to wait about 15 mins to get in. I would estimate there were probably 40-50 customers total were inside. I walked right over to the aisle picked it up, paid, and left. Shopping here can be somewhat annoying with the lack of knowledge some associates have. But there are plenty of great ones too. You just have to seek them out. Effort I wasn't willing to go through with so many people in the store that day. Also like some other retailers their loss prevention processes are overly burdensome on the customer. Especially when 80% of retail losses are caused by employees. Really this is the last true computer super center in our area and they do have a vast product offering. Most of the time the items are in stock and there's no issue. I deduct 1 star for the lack of service and 1 star for not following practical health prevention guidelines during the pandemic. read more

My review is stricly based on the enormous checkout lines during my Saturday evening visit. They have 12 registers available but only 4 cashiers working... The line was seriously long, I couldn't imagine why they would not have more registers open. They had tons of employees in the cashier's area...... Do curbside pickup. Let people sign up for specific store check in times. Change your POS system to be modernized and faster. They have various materials besides PLA. The brand Inland is rumored to be made by the same company that makes eSun which is great.
