The other day I was bemoaning the selection of components at big box hardware stores and wishing Radio Shack were still around. I had driven by this place a few times and decided to drop in. I was amazed by the selection with everything from telephone to data networking, transistors, testing tools, you name it. Prices were reasonable and staff very helpful. I will start by saying i've been a long time customer about 10 years. Occasionally the customer service wasn't good and a little short with me but never rude until today. I've spent hundreds of dollars here and now I'm banned! Apparently the "gentleman" behind the counter wasn't in the mood to talk And I quote he said "I'm not here to talk" when I asked about a tech issue after he stated it's not recommended to stack certain components in a circuit so I said fine we won't talk just give me my parts and I will leave He then said he wouldn't sell the parts to me and i'm banned.I asked for the manager he said he's the manager.I asked for the owner and he wouldn't reply. Definitely stay away. These guys are a scam. You're getting ripped off on just about every product in this store. They're selling cables at $65 while the same cable is on Amazon for $25. If you need bits or parts, you can find packs of 5 on Amazon or eBay at the same price they sell one. They also claim to price higher since they offer customer support. Well they aren't interested in conversing with you unless you're a hot girl. I don't think I'll pay the $30 up-charge for cold shoulder treatment. Amazon is the future, you can return anything for full price. JK doesn't even offer return or exchange on opened items. I also opened a USB hub to check the quality and it felt like it was held together with Elmer's glue and prayer. Super cheap quality for extortionate prices. (Btw they were selling a DC charger 5 V 3 Amp for $32.00) Pure ripoff. read more

Ah, this is the place that put Radio Shack outta bidness. Parking is plentiful in a large lot adjacent to other stores in the strip mall. In the same spot as the H2Go, Big Lots, and Westminster Lanes Bowling. They have most everything you'd eat in an electronic store, and a super helpful staff. My search for a replacement of a Laptop Battery recharger power supply brought me in, and while we came close, the plug needed for my laptop was just too rare. Didn't have it... yet the time and trouble James went through to get to that conclusion was truly inspiring. When a few days later, putting up my security cameras, we were one Wifi antenna short, and JK Electronic had just the right one. Awesome. Wow...so impressed. We brought my son's model chairlift to JK Electronics on a Saturday afternoon when it stopped working (2 weeks after Christmas). James got on it immediately and spent at least 15 minutes working with the small electronic parts to correctly diagnose the problem. It turned out that we were using the wrong power supply and had over-supplied the circuit board, frying a capacitor. After a couple of steps, James simply sold us the correct power supply and we were back in operation. This all sounds simple, but it's certainly not common to get this type of customer service. James never tried to blame us for the mistake or sell us anything we didn't need. He was patient and explained all his tests so that we could understand what he was doing. My son loves this model, and was devastated when it suddenly stopped working. Such a relief to be able to get it back in operation, and a pleasant surprise that the fix was so easy. Thank you JK Electronics, specifically James, for saving the day! We will definitely be back. read more

They have a lot of different things for simple experimental projects. Store is pretty well organized and the staff is fairly knowledgeable. They can order some things for you, but others not so. I only give them 4 stars because I wish they'd stay open a little later (7pm) and why not Sundays? In my opinion, there should be more of these stores. I spent $13 on one fuse for a multimeter there that I was told was the one that they sold for multimeters. I found the right one at Torrance Electronics for $4. I tried to take the one back to JK Electronics and was told they do not accept returns of certain electronic parts, even though the fuse was in the original unopened package. So I then opened the package, with difficulty, and found that the fuse was just a little bit too long (1/16"?) and would not fit at all. Since I was told by the employee that it was the right fuse for a multimeter and it "should fit", I had purchased it even though it was expensive. I tried to take it back to JK Electronics again with the fact that it didn't fit, but the staff told me I would have to talk to the manager. I called, spoke to the manager, Tom, who seemed to already have decided to refuse the return, and he even told me I had been a problem for the staff. I was a problem because I tried to reason with them!. Tom refused to accept the return too and didn't really listen to what I had to say. So, now I have a useless fuse that I can't use in my multimeter. I will no longer shop at JK Electronics, but no regrets since they have such a rigid return policy. It is much easier and cheaper to go on eBay or the internet with a wider selection being available and much better prices. No regrets. If your looking for a place like Home Depot to assist you in helping you find something you've found the place. Worst customer service, 0 return policy they say they will do returns and what ever you do don't ask for a manager the owner will come out and tell you to get out of his store in very angry face and tone. I went there for about five simple items they were out of 3 of the 5 items. So if your your looking for electronic items I would highly advice you to search elsewhere. Jk electronics advertises it self as selling wire, test equipment I also bought a volt meter I've brought it back twice first time they sold it to me with dead batteries then I went back and it bounces around not giving you proper read but they claim it's working fine.
