After a bad experience with another appliance dealer, we stopped by Howard's and weren't disappointed. It was a Monday night around 7:30 pm and we desperately needed a fridge. We had a specific size we needed which only left a handful of choices. We narrowed it down to 2 and the salesperson came over and we started throwing out questions. The biggest ones were how fast can you deliver it and how much? In the case of our 2 choices, they could deliver on Wednesday and it was free. Love that. The 2nd question was on price matching and they still do that within 30 days. The fridge we decided on was found cheaper at a competitor, and after checking with his manager, he was able to price match it. 2nd win. Close the deal. We received a call Tuesday late afternoon telling us the fridge would be delivered between 1 and 3 pm on Wednesday, and they were right on time. The setup couldn't have gone smoother, and we were overly checking to make sure everything worked a little more than most people probably do thanks to our recent bad experience. This is an update review on my initial Howard's Appliance review. Today I am reading an article that Howard's Appliance has abruptly shut their doors for good. The article elaborates on how customers are left holding the nag after paying for deposits and purchases for new appliances. Undoubtedly the appliances were figured in to Christmas holiday plans. However Bah Humbug! as Howard's never operated ethically with customer satisfaction in mind. I feel bad for the many customers that are out of $$thousands paid in good faith with the expectation of receiving new appliances for Christmas. The financial shafting and rude response we received from the Tustin Howard's store, the assistant manager, and customer service is pale compared to what most recent customers are being treated. Undoubtedly many good and ethical employees are being severely economically injured. My heart goes out to all of those ex-employees (no including one specific assistant store manager). Everything seems to be fine when you make a purchase. My GE ($4100) refrigerator was on back order, over 3 months time period Howard's attempted to deliver my fridge as a brand new but without original packaging claiming that it was open for inspection. Excuse me.....what inspection? All 3 deliveries were unacceptable and got rejected as an open box item. Now is the time when the true face of Howard's service has surfaced. Beware of this place so called General Manager Rudy Melhem, he not only won't help you, but blame you for all theirs screwups. Very unpleasant, unprofessional and rude person. We had an unusual loud buzzing noise coming from our new GE dryer. In the ensuing month after delivery, we had the GE service company technicians come to check out the issue. After 3 visits and 10 weeks of noise, the GE service team could not figure out what was causing the loud buzzing. I went back to Howard's in Tustin, CA and our sales rep was out on leave. Another rep, Peiman Sobhani said he would be happy to help us. Peiman took charge of the situation and after watching several videos we took of the dryer and noise, sending them to his GE rep, was able to get a replacement GE dryer delivered to our home. The new unit runs quietly and we couldn't be happier! Peiman listened to our concerns, provided a solution and extraordinary service. Whatever you do, do not purchase the extended warranty. The warranty company denied a claim even when the front of the freezer door surface was bent from normal use. Additionally, the service company they sent was extremely shitty. Unresponsive, technician couldn't speak English, and they never followed up on their diagnostic service. Also, save yourself money and DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THERMADOR. Only had it for 2.5 years and the handle broke off and the front of the freezer bent from NORMAL USE. Friends were over for a housewarming (how embarrassing) and were shocked that it was a thermador fridge and what poor quality it is. I've used Samsung and LG fridges that lasted longer with zero problems. read more

They showed me what I was looking for and I ordered it. It came without the colored panels on the front that I had selected (all white). I was told that I did not order those and they would be extra. DO NOT shop at Howard's!!! This autumn, I had the WORST experience with this store and the Howard's warranty provider. While Howard's is an employee-owned institution, their customer service and warranty provider service (Epic) are subpar to say the least. If I could indicate a zero star rating, I would! On August 28th, I contacted the warranty company to report a problem with my Kitchen Aid dishwasher (just over one year old) and subsequently had seven service visits over the course of the next 14 weeks. The warranty service provider replaced every EVERY SINGLE PART on this $1100.00 dishwasher before they finally deemed it unrepairable. The parts and service calls alone well exceeded the value of the dishwasher! My calls to the warranty service were ineffectual and completely in vain. Half the time that I called to check on the status of my claim, the agent had no information available on the status or showed that had already been resolved and that was when the person on the other end could actually communicate in English!! I really cannot begin to express the level of my dissatisfaction with the entire experience. In an act of desperation around the 12th or 14th service week, I contacted my salesperson, then the store manager at the Tustin location where I purchased the unit. Both stated they would make calls to have the claim "escalated" and follow up with me. I never received a single telephone call back from either one of these people (Peiman Sobhani or Rudy Melhem). By this time, it was the beginning of December, the Christmas holiday was quickly approaching, and I finally gave up on any sort of cooperation from Howard's or their warranty company. Accordingly, I purchased a new dishwasher from Best Buy (who operates an in-house warranty service). At the very end of December, I finally received a call from the warranty company advising me that the dishwasher was deemed unrepairable. Really????? My reimbursement check arrived in January bringing my claim to a close after 18 frustrating weeks!!!! I have been a Howard's customer for years and most of my home appliances were purchased from them. I can say with utter conviction that I will never purchase another product from their company. Take my advice and shop elsewhere, in case you ever need to exercise your rights under one of their product warranties --- it was a complete and utter nightmare!! read more

I bought a new oven which is all well and good but the delivery process was less than ideal. The delivery guys didn't bother adjusting the height of the oven to match the counter height, so I had to do it myself and it was a pain in the ass. Also when they were installing the oven they accidentally ripped off a small panel on the front of my cabinet near the oven. Accidents happen but why the hell didn't they own up to it? I didn't find the panel anywhere either, so they just pocketed it and bounced. The oven is great and whatever, but overall I'm dissatisfied with the process and I'm not going to be buying anything else from Howard's in the future read more

So on Thanksgiving day our 10-year-old Bosch dishwasher decides it is time to retire and gives up with an "E 15" error. As a result my wife and I were forced into urgent Black Friday shopping. We then went next door to Howard's where Dino Silva jumped right on the case (without being overly aggressive), carefully questioned us to determine our goals and priorities, and suggested several alternatives that fit with what we were looking for. Really knew his stuff, and was willing to give honest opinions when asked. Purchased a nice Miele (complete with rebate and warranty extension promos) and scheduled the delivery and full install (including haul-away) for the following Monday. Their install company called on Sunday, gave us a 3-hr time window, showed up on-time with all necessary parts and equipment, and cleanly completed the hook-up job.
