This review is long overdue. I noticed a trend in the comments - and it seems to be a lot of tenents needing a fix, and the folks at Appliance World not coming through for one reason or another. I'm one of these tenants. First, I apologize in advance cause this is gonna be full of typos and mispellings while I fly through this review since it's about a month overdue, but I gotta go to work. I'm a super busy RN. I don't have time. If you know an RN in acute care you know that we barely have time at work, let alone at home; I sleep, I shower, and I work. Sometimes I have enough time to eat. The gas company came out to my building, and for whatever reason(s) had to shut the gas off. When they turned it back on they had to go unit to unit and inspect all the gas appliances in the building. My stove was locked n' tagged as dangerous, and my oven had a precaution due to a leaking coupling. Cool! Right? Who doesn't like not being able to cook at home? Note: I said I don't have enough time to eat; didn't say I didn't have food ready on the chance that I do. SO, this happened the week before Thanksgiving. I'm pulling anywhere from 13-16hr days, and sometimes five days a week. I didn't take the time to tell my property management company about the matter for a few days. By then, Thanksgiving was less than a week away. The guys at Appliance World simply didn't have a timeslot to fit me in. Sean, on the phone the same day I submitted my issue asked: "Well what about right now?" I think it was near 6 o'clock in the afternoon, and I was already at work. "Do you guys work weekends?" I asked. They don't. This is the single and only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars, but there isn't an option for 4.5. That left Thanksgiving as my only available day, and of course that wasn't possible. That left the following Monday as the earliest appointment. Apparently this was further out than Sean typically schedules cause he said "call me on the Sunday before to remind me. OK?" I was working Sunday, and totally forgot to call him. But I got a text message from him Sunday afternoon asking me if Monday still worked for me. COOL. Monday rolls around, I think I had a three or four hour time window, and the guy shows up in the first ten minutes of it. He introduces himself, comes in, inspects my stove, and my oven. Says "OK, i'm done." I paused, and asked "wait. What?" He said he needed to inspect, and submit his report to verify the problem. I had a small TIA, then said something like "I e-mailed, sent text messages, with pictures, to Sean, and to the management company with the gas company's tags, and the numbers on the device while they were using it on my appliances. All the information is there. Why wasn't..." I stopped myself. This wasn't the right person to have this conversation with. I called Sean and started up again. Imagine my frustration here: I haven't been able to cook at home for two weeks. Which means I was eating raw foods (deli meats n' produce) stuff that doesn't last for more than a few days, which means I had to grocery shop a few times a week, get take-out, and eat hospital food. These things cut into my sleep, and happiness (especially the hospital food). Don't get in the way of an RN's sleep when they work as much as I do, folks. Especially if it's our week to be on-call til 7am. Sean was patient on the phone. Heard me out. He started apologizing, and explaining what was happening, and that he would have a report from his guy by the end of the day. Then he paused and asked me in a really earnest tone: "Did you think we were coming out to replace your stove *today*?" "YES! Why the hell wouldn't I?" I said. Me, thinking it's a simple issue, failed to understand that my pictures weren't enough to skip due process: tenent writes a maintenance request to the management company, management company sends out a rep who has some kind of investigative authority to validate the problem, management company sends the request to the owner so they can fix it, owner gives thumbs up/down, and yeah... You get it. I apologized to Sean after calling my management company, and left a voice message for the lady who handles maintenance issues. E-mailed her too; always document these things. In about 10 minutes of finishing that e-mail I got a call from Sean. He said he had another call in my area in about two hours, and asked me if i could I be home for that much longer. Sean showed up in one hour, on crutches, and a busted foot in a brace. Harry was right behind him with an honest to goodness brand new stove in a box at my front door on the second floor. Sean and Harry were in n' out of my apartment in less than an hour. New stove installed, oven hose n' coupling replaced, and both working like one would expect every day since. Right. That's it. I would not buy a "new in box" Whirlpool from this company. I bought my "new in box" Whirlpool and it needed a new pump after just one year and 8 months. I kept it clean and maintained using dishwasher cleaning tabs twice a month. Appliance World maintains that they are "just the vendor" and faulted Whirlpool. Maybe so, but to tack on the $89 for the new when most appliance stores absorb the cost if you buy their replacement product is what drove me to the competition. read more

This company was referred to us when we requested service from our property management. This was our first encounter with this company and we were hoping for a positive experience due to the good reviews listed here. We live in a home where we do not wear shoes in the house and Sean clearly stated that his tech must keep his shoes on for liability purposes which we clearly understood. Upon the arrival of the technician, we were greeted by someone who did not show any common courtesy, was very rude from the get-go, and just had an overall bad attitude when speaking with us. We did not receive our service from AW due to their technician's lack of courtesy and respect given to our family members at home. I called back AW and spoke with Sean (sp?) after this ordeal about getting a different technician to come back but was told that that guy was his ONLY technician in his company, which didn't make much sense to me -- don't companies have at least multiple or a second technician in case their main technician was out sick or needed a day off?? I was told that this service was only available TODAY at this moment because his one and only, sole technician is to leave the country soon -- okay, can this appointment be moved to next month? No, Sean says. In the beginning, this Sean person seemed like a nice guy. Not sure about the quality of handling positive communication and his ability to compromise which clearly trickled down to his worker. Also, who only has ONE technician to service all his customers? This in itself is a huge liability issue to the technician's physical and mental well-being. No wonder the technician had a bad attitude because he probably can never get a day off! read more

I would NOT have AW do work for me if they were the only appliance repair people in town! I'd buy new before I'd let them in my home again! In Nov 2021, our dishwasher stopped working. Our property mgmt (PM) company sent out a tech from Appliance World (AW) who determined that it needed to be replaced. While at our home, the tech was rude. He complained about the distance he had to drive to reach us and then said he would only come back if he could have a morning appointment. I wasn't home to hear this for myself, but frankly, I didn't want him back. A few days later, an AW tech came back (believe it was the same older Asian man named Tommy, Billy, or something similar) with a new dishwasher. After he removed the old dishwasher (and left a trail of water throughout the house without cleaning it up), I noticed that there appeared to be some type of black mold on the inner wall of the cabinet. I pointed it out to the installer who went on to dismiss me. He told me that he knew it was just dirt and even repeatedly directed me to touch it and see for myself. I stopped him from installing the new dishwasher and explained to him that I needed to contact the PM company. The man was clearly annoyed with me. He became very aggravated with me - telling me that he knew that there had been mold there, but it had been remediated before. What I was worried about was just dirt. His words, tone, & posture made it obvious that he thought I was an idiot and why couldn't I just shut up and let him get this over with. He went outside and called his boss. In the meantime, I got on the phone with the PM company who stopped the install. Thank goodness they did! They sent out an expert then next day who confirmed IT WAS MOLD! Knowing this and knowing how the rude, condescending, and aggressive the AW tech was with me, I conveyed my concerns to the PM company who had Sean from AW call me. I spoke with him at length about what happened with his tech. His response was that the incident was in the past and he just wanted to move forward. Not even so much as an apology! It was apparent Sean was not going to address it and certainly did not care about the poor customer service his tech provided - not to mention REPEATEDLY SUGGESTING THAT I TOUCH THE MOLD! FAST FORWARD to this past Saturday (5/7/22). Our microwave stopped working. We contacted our PM company the same day who said they would put in a request for service and someone would be out on Monday (today). Sean (AW) called us this afternoon and said they were all booked and would be out there Tuesday am instead. We reminded him that we did not want that tech back in our home. To which, Sean canceled the appointment and the workorder with the PM company because that HORRIBLE TECH was the ONLY TECH AW has to do the job! Seriously, their only tech is someone who encouraged me to stir up some unknown type of black mold. I'd say, hire AW at your own risk! read more

I stumbled on this place after having a not so pleasant experience with another guy. My dryer had not been igniting and needed someone to come and fix it without trying to sell me all the bells. Sean came out the same day to see if I needed a new dryer or if he could fix it. Unfortunately I did need a new dryer and he showed me a few that I could purchase from them. He told me to shop around to see if I could find a better price elsewhere and didn't push me to buy anything from him. The efficiency, honesty, and level of service he provided left me feeling like I was in good hands. The very next day he delivered me a brand new dryer and installed all within the span of probably 40 minutes. If I didn't have an upstairs unit he probably would've been quicker! After my extensive research, I was set on Speed Queen and Appliance World was the only local authorized dealer. It was a win-win situation; I got what I wanted while supporting a local business. I came in ready to buy, and in fifteen minutes the transaction was done. They had the models in stock and ready to go. Can't even express how easy, smooth, and great our purchase was from Appliance World. First off the guy there who's name slips my mind - he was wearing a mask properly and greeted us warmly. I knew what I wanted, kind of. They are an official vendor of the-best-washer Speed Queen. Speed Queens are simple, easy to use washers with commercial options, and even their non-coin ones have commercial grade agitators. I'll get into that later. The wonderful guy lead us through their selection of Speed Queens - I had an idea that I wanted one but was apprehensive as they had two different types and I didn't want to get the gentle one. He knew exactly what I was talking about, and led us to the 2020 models with the crazy agitators that get everything clean in a jiffy. He had another customer pickup, so we took advantage of our five minutes to Google the washer he recommended and it was exactly, to a T, what we wanted. He could not have been more spot on! We were in there maybe seven minutes from enter to selecting our Speed Queen. We were rang up, got totally reasonably priced hoses, and added delivery for $50. The next day he arrived with our beautiful and wonderful washer and installed it easily and sealed it up tightly. He ran a test cycle (ok I threw some stuff in there the 2020 model doesn't lock you out ) and we were rolling! Now we have washed just about our entire house. He was wonderful and we are so lucky my husband found them when he was looking for official Speed Queen vendors. Now about the Speed Queen itself. This is subject to change as I've only had her about a week, but queen is no joke. I had the great fortune of living near several laundromats and apartment complexes that used Speed Queen washers. They got my clothes clean second to none. For a while, I had my own little Maytag (an old one, considered a "good" one,) but between the small size of the load capacity and precious agitator, they couldn't clean like SQ. We finally moved into a place that has a washer hookup so I recommended we get an SQ. We browsed Lowe's while we were there and our second choice was a beautiful Samsung. They sure are sleek, but most of the reviews they have say the electronics die after two years. They only come with a one year parts and labor warranty, and apparently the extended warranties are agonizing to claim on. They were about $900 for the model we liked with all the bells and whistles. Speed Queen, on the other hand, for the 2020 WC model we got, has a three year top to bottom warranty. It was $1-$1.2k. If we had added a warranty with Lowe's, the Samsung would have come out to just under $1.2k. SQ is all about business, they don't have fancy bells and whistles, but they work really, really well. We decided it was definitely worth the extra investment *because* it comes with the warranty which would have brought the price to match SQ anyways, and no long one hour waits on the phone to get support. The new 2020 WC model is mind blowing. Caked deep dirt in shoes has no problem in there. By the time they are done, you won't know there was shoes inside the exceptionally clean basin. We tried the Samsung at an Airbnb, and the spin cycle was so gentle we had to hang dry our clothes more than 32 hours (that's as far as I got because we ended up bringing them home moist.) SQ spin cycle is tough as nails, and so our hang drying time is 6-12 hours. Amazing. Speed Queen can't be overstated in its awesomeness and Appliance World can't be overstated in its awesomeness. Speed Queen just had to temporarily close their factory - so please make sure you get your WC washer ASAP as they're going to be backordered for a really long time. They have only a few left in stock that we saw. Totally worth it. I'm in love with my washing machine. read more

The first couple times I've been here, the gentleman that helped me was very intuitive. Knew exactly what part I needed and all. Granted I'm not an appliance handyman, and it's definitely not my profession. But, I do work on my own. I haven't had a problem yet. The reason I'm giving only three stars, my last encounter was disappointing and very unpleasant. It was close to closing time, and I was curious to know if they had lid locking and actuator motors in stock. Yes, understandably he would need model number and all that jazz. Generally looking for info, he could've just stated it's a special order type of thing. I continued to ask him if he knew of any other supply location, only because I knew they were closing SOON. He got aggressive, asked me for the model number. I tried to tell him that it was difficult for me to see.... Before I could even finish my sentence, he HUNG the phone up! Now the first time, I sent the gentleman pictures of what I needed. He was accommodating. This gentleman, who didn't have any patience and straight cold. Well, thanks to you! I was looking for a fridge since I just moved and my rental didn't have one. I went to Appliance World based on the reviews. Sean and his staff were helpful without being pushy - they were very direct and upfront...no fluffy sales pitches here. Sean was pleasant and sincere, obviously wants to make sure his customers are happy. I had shopped around and researched other appliance stores and private sales and compared costs between buying/hiring movers to deliver/renting a truck etc. In the end, after seeing their inventory one Saturday morning, I bought a basic refurbished apartment sized fridge for a decent price. (No ice maker/water dispenser/stainless steel - I just needed something to store my food.) Due to my work schedule, I had to wait until Tuesday morning for it to be delivered, but Sean was good about following up and checking on my availability leading up to delivery. Sean delivered the fridge and installed it in less than 15 min so I was able to head right back to work (my commute is 15 min no traffic). I definitely recommend Appliance World. That being said, please don't expect pristine perfect right out of the box if you buy refurbished. They are sold as is, so if you just need something to tide you over for a while, then definitely consider buying a refurbished one from them. Went to get a washer/ used. Sold me one, I used it 3 times and the sound, while it would spin kept, getting louder and louder I could not stand it anymore, so I called them for a replacement or repair. He has a 30 day warranty but says it's used and as is! When I bought it they said it was in good working order and it was gone over and tested! If it was tested they would have heard the sound AND when I was on the phone he said to spin the drum and it was a LOUD sound that meant the BALL BEARINGS were shot and that did not happen over 3 loads of laundry!!! They knew it was bad and sold it and now they will not repair or replace it!!! Even within the 30 days BAD BUSINESS !!!! read more

I don't typically review appliance stores, but here I am... When my GE profile washer broke, I called a trusted repairman who said it was not worth putting more money into the piece of junk. He proceeded to tell me all washers these days were junk. Except one brand: Speed Queen, which he personally uses in his home. He recommended a specific model and referred me to Appliance World. Sean was there to immediately pick up my call- he was so helpful and responsive. I compared his quote with the internet and another vendor in SoCal who carried the model I was looking for (but was a bit farther away). I went with Sean bc he was was so responsive and the glowing Yelp reviews confirmed this. His pricing was competitive (there isn't much haggle room when it comes to the brand), and I got the sense that should I run into any issues down the road, Sean would not be the type to leave me hanging. Sure enough, although he is incredibly busy, he got it done- he actually delivered and installed the machine the very next day. You heard that right, he himself delivered and installed it. Not because he is desperate for business. When he was at my house his phone literally rang non-stop, and I saw him having to politely refuse customers who were too far away. He could easily outsource the delivery/haulaway/installation, but he said there was just too much room for error if he relied on someone else. Controlling? Yes. But that's what I want in someone who is selling me an appliance. He is very passionate about making sure the job gets done right. And the machine. Good God. I bought a refurbished washer and dryer on March 2 or so. It's a 3 month warranty. On day 2 I told Sean there was a burning smell. He claims I said the dryer but I know it was the washer which died over a week ago on the 4th month. Regardless he said it was oil burning off and I trusted it was ok, now I have to get a new washer. He's saying it might be the transmission or clutch. But the washer is so old it's cheaper to get another. Complete waste of time. Clearly the washer wasn't refurbished. read more
