We highly recommend this business. From the moment we walked in the door the service we received from John was top notch. He is very knowledgeable about his product. No high pressure sales tactics either. Our mattress was even delivered a day early! Unheard of during these Pandemic times. The prices were MUCH lower than a similar mattress store down the street and these are made in the USA. We have not slept on it yet as it was just delivered. But it looks great. The delivery and set up was smooth and the delivery person was very courteous and cleaned up everything when he finished. Before you purchase a mattress anywhere else, make sure you check and compare product and prices here. read more

Hibernation Mattress - Maxim Mattress Series 3 - Mattresses Near Me - Orange, California

We purchased our mattress about a year ago, and WOW. It's honestly one of the best purchases we've made, it's organic, didn't smell like chemicals, made well and perfectly firm. We went to several places before and after going to HM, however we ended up choosing Hibernation Mattress simply because their bed was overall better than anything we've tried. The owner was very helpful and gave us a great deal on a king bed and frame. I thought we'd end up with a Serta or Temperpedic and i'm honestly glad we didn't. read more

I was looking for a new mattress, checked out a few stores and finally tried Hibernation Mattress in Orange. I got a great deal on a really top quality mattress from Bob. Both Bob and John are great guys, who have a wealth of knowledge and experience; and have been in the mattress industry for a long time. I'm really happy with my purchase and the quality of the mattress is superb. I'd definitely recommend visiting Hibernation when out looking for a new mattress! Thanks John and Bob! read more

Often times your first choice is the right choice. It was time for a new mattress, so we planned to visit 2-3 mattress stores along Katella in Orange. Based on their very positive Yelp reviews, we visited Hibernation Mattress first with the objectives of getting educated on today's mattress features and understanding the price points. Richard greeted us and took the time to understand our needs before showing us various options. He is super friendly and not salesy at all. He explained the mattress differences as the price point changed. After laying on 4-5 different mattresses, we found the perfect one at a comfortable price point, thereby removing the need to visit additional stores. We took delivery of our new mattress and base just under two weeks, and we are very happy! We recommend you make Richard and Hibernation Mattress the first stop in your mattress shopping. read more

Mannnnnn, so happy that I came to this store. I was having problems with my $8,000 Sleep Number bed (such a waste of money) so I came in and saw these guys. I am so much happier now than I ever was with my sleep number. As a matter of fact, I'm happier than I've ever been with any mattress. Thank you guys so much! Highly recommended!!!! read more

Outstanding company! On the 4th of July we bought a mattress from the owner John, who explained this is a 100% local company. You're not getting a bed made from slave labor in China. You're supporting local people, with local families. Amazing American made quality just like the old days. This is a bed that will last a life time! read more

This review is long overdue but my wife and I are so thrilled to share our great experience with John and his store. After years of sleeping on memory foam, crappy spring mattresses, and bed-in-a-box types that are touted as high-quality and high-value, we were dying to know what a quality night's sleep really felt like. We visited a few different highly-reviewed yelp stores and just liked John and his mattresses the best, so we bought our latex mattress set from him. Now almost after half a year, we have really tested out the mattress and can testify to why his store is great: 1) The mattresses are made locally by actual craftsmen - this shows through in the quality of mattress in spades. 2) John actually has a passion for mattresses, knows all the details about his mattresses, and has made them himself. They are a local business with history and heritage and I'm no luddite but it just feels good to walk through the store and ask John about the different mattresses - as opposed to watching some slick Youtube ad and buy a mattress-in-a-box where it starts sinking in the middle after a few months, it's too heavy to throw out, and the whole time you're just wondering how much of the price was to finance the cheesy ads. 3) The customer service is first class. After years of sleeping on crappy mattresses, my spine needed some time adjusting to a good mattress. This caused some initial discomfort, which I thought was because the mattress had a quality issue. After telling John, he personally drove over to my house to test the mattress and explain to me the adjustment period and offered to take another look after I try it out for a month. Needless to say, I soon got used to the mattress and my sleep quality has been probably the highest in my life since. 4) It has stood the test of time - like I mentioned earlier, we have been sleeping on the mattress for about half a year now, and it has only gotten better with time. So if you're like me and my wife -- looking for a great night's sleep without breaking the bank -- get your butt down to Hibernation and try out their mattresses. Oh and we definitely recommend latex, organic cotton, and the adjustable base. Usually when I hear "investment" mentioned with high-priced purchases, my eyes instinctually roll to the back of my head. But this is definitely an investment that you will thank yourself for making. read more

A welcoming atmosphere with a gracious, knowledgeable consultant--Richard. He asked the right questions and directed my wife and I to the mattress that met the differing needs of two of us. This particular mattress, a Chattam & Wells, ticked all the boxes. The mattress will be delivered in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to having many nights of restful slumber. Thank you, Richard. read more

Wow, I wish we had found this place soonerFrom the 1st phone call with John I knew this was going to be a great find. Very honest, up front, knows his mattresses and shows you all ranges of prices to fit your budget. I have major back issues and just laying down on his suggested bed gave my back amazing support. Buyer beware, spend the extra money and time with a well-known mattress supplier. I purchased a mattress on July 2, John, the sales man sold me a mattress that felt good and sturdy on the sales floor. That size mattress was not in stock. To place the order John insisted that I pay for it before he ordered it. I placed my purchase on June 2 and John told me he would call me a soon as the mattress would be there, two weeks tops, John said. It had been almost a month and I had not received a phone call, after numerous attempts I finally stopped by to pick up the mattress and it was not there yet. A week later I finally called again and he just said to come and pick it up. Within a month after picking up this mattress I purchased was already caving in at certain places of the mattress. I tried to get a hold of John and he said to stop by and look at a better mattress. I called, then stoped by again, a different salesman helped me after I explained the situation. when I arrived he claimed he would trade it for a different mattress, a mattress he had in the back. It was a used mattress that was dirty, not to mention the quality of this mattress was even worse than the one I had purchased. I asked for a refund, only store credit he replied, "talk to John when he gets back". I just ve up there, I did not want to waste anymore time. Don't waste your time or money with this place. Spend a little extra cash to buy a better quality mattress at a well-known mattress store. read more

Customer service reps are so kind and knowledgable. They helped us find exactly what we were looking for, and offered suggestions for different brands and styles that worked with our budget. They delivered and put it together in my bedroom and even moved it around a few times when I couldn't make up my mind of the positioning. I am SO happy with the purchase, the brands they hold are multitudinous, and the furniture is super sturdy and not cheap feeling. I will definitely be going back when I'm in need of a new piece. read more

Planned on going to Ikea after this place, didn't really think about really spending here but John had other plans! No issues with the bed at all and its super comfortable. Thanks John! read more

This place is a diamond in the rough. John helped me and my family with two beds that we were going to over pay at another store. Great customer service and glad I walked in at the Mattress Place for questions and finally purchased beds for my home. Highly recommend John and his store ! read more

We bought our mattress here maybe 3-4 years ago and have hated it since the moment it was delivered!! I finally found a business card to remind me of where we bought it. I'm sure the owner will remember our situation. Your son the sales person was great, but your other son, the delivery kids, abandoned our mattress at the front gate, so we had to get this up 2 flights of stairs ourselves. The crummy situation was it didn't fit through the stair way so it had to be hoisted up with rope. Owner himself was of no help, attempting to sell us for 2 twin beds instead... who are we, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo sleeping on separate beds?? We still have the stupid mattress because it costed us $1500!! But I HATE it!! I have started going to the chiropractor because the bed is so damn hard. NOTHING like the mattress we tested in store and we have not been able to "break the bed in" It's ironic considering the manufacturers name for this bed is "spinal care bedding" yet it's destroying my back! I hate this bed, I hated the delivery experience, I hated their inability to provide proper customer service and I hate that I'm still sleeping on it years later. read more

Great customer service and prices! No pressure to spend more than you want. Salespeople very knowledgeable.

I was worried about getting a new mattress since I knew that I had changed my preferences. I had a lot of back problems with my old one, but John was amazing!! He asked me different questions and he gave me some preferences that I might like based on my answers. He then let me test out the mattresses in the store. Completely worth the money and I no longer have back problems!! read more

Let me just start off by saying WOW! I know it comes across as cliche, but let me tell yo my story. I purchased a mattress at the beginning of the year, a couple months ago or so. I had been dealing with low back pain due to sciatica so it was definitely time to upgrade the mattress. After my mattress was delivered, it was an upgrade to what I had before so I was marginally satisfied. But, something just didn't feel right. As I tested all areas of the mattress I noticed that the side that I sleep in dipped further the rest of the bed and it was way too soft. Not how I remembered the bed when I purchased it. I called back to the store and the gentleman the sold me the mattress, John. I wanted to get the bed replace under the warranty because I was confident and didn't feel right. John, never gave me an air of arrogance but was very helpful and went out of his way to be responsive, call me back in the time he promised and went over the warranty process with me. It was $60 to get the mattress delivered back to the warehouse. I sent back the bed, a Cal King Waldorff with a European pillow top, and just as I thought, the coils didn't set right and they were too soft, not the feel and support the bed is supposed to have. The made the determination and gave me a call to let me know that they were going to have the factory replace my bed free of charge. I would have been satisfied at that, but, John and the owner of the store went out of their way to personally deliver and set up my new bed free of charge. They also double check my frame and box spring to make sure they were in appropriate condition to support the bed. I truly appreciated the personal touch. It really showed that these folks care about your overall experience and the quality of the product, not just the sale. Hands would refer all of my family and friends to this mattress retailer, because they treat you like family!!! Happy Sleeping! ZZzzz . . . read more

Went in looking for a new Cal King mattress and stopped by here first because of all the 5 star reviews on yelp. Was greeted by a guy named John and he immediately asked us what kind we were looking for and our budget and started showing us some beds. He was super helpful and extremely knowledgeable about mattresses. When me and my wife finally decided on a bed (which was after their closing time, John was happy to stay until we decided) he gave us an awesome deal and thru in a free bed frame worth 700 new (it was a discontinued floor model) and a free mattress protector worth 150 bucks and gave us a good discount on the mattress itself. Totally blew me away!!! Thanks John, I will for sure be recommending you guys to all my family and friends. And by the way the mattress is really comfortable. We are looking forward to all the great nights of sleep!!! read more

This place rocks!!!! My wife and I did some research and were prepared to go purchase a new mattress from Sit and Sleep but then a close friend recommended we check out this spot first. So we stopped in and could not believe how much less expensive they were than the other prices we were quoted. We ended buying and entire new bed set with all the bells and whistles for $500 less than what we were quoted for just a mattress at a big chain across the street. Rich and John were super helpful, very informative, but most importantly provided a ZERO pressure shopping experience. I'd give 6 stars if I could, don't waste your time with the big chains, these are the guys you want to work with! read more

Wife and I went to several mattress stores and found this one quite by accident as we were driving home. We went in there and were greeted by Richard who we found quite refreshing that he was not the pushy aggressive type salesman. He was patient, very helpful and very knowledgeable. we tried out several beds and then he showed us a couple that he thought we might like. We ended up buying one at a very good price. They delivered the mattress and box springs in just a few days. Set it up and took the old one away. The two guys that delivered it were very professional as they got the old mattress and box springs out and new ones in very quickly and professionally. They had good attitudes in the process. Overall I'm very thankful we found this mattress store. Good experience. Good price !!! read more

I had been searching for the perfect mattress for sometime, after I made the fatal mistake of buying a "bed in a box" . It was returned as soon as the minimum trial date arrived. Never again , especially since I found John, the owner of The Mattress Place on Katella in Orange. He is one of the few stores that carries beds with the latex I needed to relieve my painful pressure points, as well as lower back pain. John gave me several options for my issues, and there was no pressure or upselling like the chain stores with a quota. He is also one of the few stores that carry several models by Chatam and Wells . I decided on the Franklin with 3 inches of latex on the top.....pure luxury at the very 'best" price. I just wish I had found this store, and John, sooner !!!!! read more
