We also wanted to avoid potentially toxic materials used to meet U.S. flammability requirements (Custom Comfort achieves this with wool). Bonus is that all of their mattresses are double-sided (flippable) which most on the market are not these days. The mattress we purchased should last us 20-30 years if we care for it well. Fixed my back pain- no surgery needed! I have scoliosis and used to have constant bulging discs in my back. The medical doctors I went to were not helpful in stopping and preventing this pain ("come back when you need surgery" was something I was told). I realized the typical memory foam and tempurpedic mattresses and mattress toppers I slept on (8+ hours every day, which really adds up!) were causing a lot of my pain. Sinking into foam sucked. I also dealt with memory foam off gassing which made me sick. I found Custom Comfort because they offered flippable mattresses (spoiler alert- every time I flip/turn the mattress I got, its like getting a new mattress). I went to the store about three years ago, so I forget who helped me, but he was very helpful in educating and finding something in my price range (also helped my find a lower priced box spring). They even embroidered a custom design on it for free for me! :) This mattress was great for the first 6 months, but then it broke in and wasn't firm enough for my back. The break-in period is something I wish was emphasized a bit more (maybe they did and I didn't remember). At first it was hard getting my frustrations heard, but I did enough pestering to have someone come to my house to check it out (I asked for a warranty dipping mattress check), and once they saw I was sleeping on the floor for a firmer feel, they offered to change out the springs in the mattress for the firmest ones they had at cost. Now, after 2.5 years, I've been loving my mattress! I really appreciate how Custom Comfort worked with me and even remanufactured the mattress for me. I also got their shredded latex pillows. They were a little overfilled for my taste, so I sewed a zipper on the edge so I could choose how much filling it has. I hope they add that feature. I also put my pillowcases in the laundry and they shrank, and they replaced the cases for me for free, which I really appreciated. My back pain- doing great! I used to have really debilitating pain for over a year, but after a custom comfort mattress (and some pilates for strengthening) I feel like a human again! I can't sleep anywhere else anymore, in a good way. These mattresses really improved my life, and I have literally brought my friends and family to Custom Comfort store to educate them because my life is pain free now. I bought my mattress when I was in college, so it was a lot of money for me, but it was so worth it, and other companies who do the same thing charge a lot more. Plus, no more medical bills! These guys are awesome. We had been to 3 other mattress stores. Custom comfort is a ....No high pressure sale, no hurry up and buy quick kind of place. On the day of my delivery (2hours before) we discovered that we didn't have the right equipment to install the mattress on our captain drawers. They actually did not have one in stock but... since they are made right here in Orange... CA....they made one for us. Delivery was excellent. And ....
