Be careful selecting sales. Some sales will let you wait there 30 minutes while talking nonsense with his friend and ignoring you. While you tried to do price adjustment within reasonable time, cashier would not let you do that. When you purchase anything, sales would try so hard to sell you protection plan and if you say no, they give you "the look" and the attitude complete change. Very uncomfortable. Bad experience! So disappointing! I've had some good experiences at this location in the past but this weekend was a mess. A reminder to stay away and shop online if possible. I get it, COVID is tough to deal with. But many aspects of this visit could have been improved. What happened: Yesterday, I went to Micro Center to purchase a specific item. I was there around noon on Sunday. The item I needed was in stock there in the store but not able to be reserved online. Consequently, I had to go in to grab it off the shelf and then get to the line. The line was TREMENDOUSLY long. It appeared that the cashiers were providing tech support and making conversation with the patrons (normally good but not great when people are trying to move through a risky store visit quickly). So the line was moving even slower than it could. The line is also positioned so that the front staff at the cash registers can't see it growing to the back of the store and adjust their service accordingly. Hopefully this provides some helpful ideas for the managers. The line also intersects with another long (but not as long) line for internet pickup. This would be the way to go but still not great. Also, the line is not monitored in any way by the struggling staff. They seemed very busy and briskly walking all over the store. At least two people got into the line where it turned to enter the cash register area skipping in front of tens of people behind them. I saw this happen but there was no way for customers to fix the inconsiderate people at the front of the line without confronting each other. While it's common courtesy for an individual to address this if the person skips in front of you, it's also good business practice for a brick and mortar store to make sure their line doesn't present opportunities for this to happen or for the workers to enforce the rules. Maybe assign a sales associate to the line to make sure people are being spaced and not jumping into the 6 foot distances between well mannered line standers. After 15 minutes waiting and just getting into the congested winding cash register area I gave up and put my item down leaving the store. It didn't feel like the conditions in the line area were safe enough for me to justify buying this item against the length of time we had to be exposed to other patrons. Here we are the next day and the item is now listed as out of stock. I was hoping to return to get it when the store was less busy during the week but I guess I'm out of luck. Bottom line, frustrating experience. Restricting certain items from being reserved online because of scarcity is a fine practice when not in pandemic, but right now it's not safe. If you're trying to drive business to the store that is clearly not a problem. Let people check out quicker or use in store pickup. Double bottom line, I'll go back because you have the stuff that just nobody else has and sometimes that you can't even find online. But I will be just a little less excited about going. Hope this is helpful feedback. -- Update: I went back today because I noticed that the item I needed was in stock. I drove on over and went to the aisle and couldn't find it. I asked one worker to help and he said he didn't normally work in that area so would need someone else's help. He sought out another worker who made NO effort to look for the item at all and told me that "they had been looking for it for a week." Now we know this isn't true because I was in over the weekend and had one in my hand. So what is the real story? I said to him, "It's not here despite it showing as being in stock on your website." In a very matter of fact way he said "No." Two lessons-- 1. Don't trust the online stock on the website. 2. The workers will make no effort to track down an item for you nor will they apologize for the fact that their stock is listed incorrectly. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT AND WASTE OF TIME. read more

Pros: - store assistants were prompt, courteous and knowledgeable, all gave me their cards with their contact info - store manager came and introduced himself and gave me his card - awesome attention to detail - well-stocked store with top-of-the-line products in every IT sector imaginable, contracts with several providers for additional services (e.g. ASUS parts; Seagate data restore; etc.) - sales dept sent me a survey about my experience afterwards - again, proves concern and care for customers - national hotline is great, didn't wait at all, was connected to an agent who solved my issue promptly. Cons: - Would be great if they could their staffing issues - I know it's hard in the current environment, and they are facing shortages, but the long wait times (e.g. 7 days from leaving my laptop until it even got to a technician, and another 3 days for diagnostic - that's 10 days without my laptop, too long) and lack of attention to detail when it comes to communicating (e.g. was told they'd call me when my new laptop was ready for pick up, but they never did. Had I not called later that day, I would've waited another day without need to get my new computer; texting was helpful up to a point - I was promised my technician would call me, but he never did; when I called the store, I found out he had left for the day) - that would make them a 5-star store. read more

I'm writing this review for the above and beyond customer service. I recently attempted to build my 3rd PC and bought most of my parts from Microcenter, given that it's such a convenient place to buy parts en masse. I initially bought them a month in advance of my case arriving. Unfortunately, the first motherboard I received had a corrupt BIOS (Fault of ASRock, not the Microcenter) but despite the purchase being a month old they still allowed me to exchange the board. Even more tragically, after I assembled the PC with the new board the GPU was undetectable and I brought the entire computer to the service station for repair. They very quickly found out the PCIE slot was damaged (again that's the fault of either ASRock or even potentially me) and they yet again offered me an exchange on the board. Such an incredibly kind gesture and one that I will not forget when coming to the store later for parts in the future. Thank you (and pardon me if I'm misremembering names) to managers Lindsey & Scott, as well as the technician that worked on my PC, Steven for saving me $460. To my dismay, the 3rd motherboard's PCIE still won't recognize the card, but I believe that is a problem with the motherboard model- so I will likely be back in a couple months to buy a new motherboard and potentially the service desk to guarantee I'm not the problem in this impossible PC equation; but I have no doubt they will have incredible service when I return if the people I worked with represent the staff as a whole. Micro Center needs 2 reviews, one for prices of computers and monitors (5 stars) and one for advice from sales (that would be 1 star). Unfortunately, by the time the sales people get done with you, you've spent much, much more than if you bought the equipment at a more expensive store. So my advice is: if you can get tech advice from someone you trust before you go to MicroCenter in Rockville, then it makes sense to go there to purchase exactly what you want, and ignore all the extras they try to sell you. For example, if you have Microsoft 365, you don't need the expensive ESET ant-virus system the salesman insists is essential. And definitely don't get their service contract. I knew that the salesmen were on commission, but I never dreamed they would lie to me to get me to spend so much more. read more

Remarkably good selection for of general tech stuff from computers to drones and printers. I can't stand going into Best Buy anymore, so this is refreshing and a real destination. Given the lack of competition, this place might as well be Valhalla for nerds like me, but it does come with some issues. --- There's an old truism in tech that people don't know what they want until you show it to them, and that's how I feel about Micros Center. You can find what you're looking for online if you type in the words but if you're not sure what you need? That's where this sits for me: I like to come in and browse for those odd gadgets and inbetween devices like when you want a camera to talk to a TV or an extra quiet USB fan. I also just walk around to get ideas. NEGATIVES * Checkout - Interactions at the register are not my favorite. They will ask for your contact info and push that warranty nonsense hard on anything you buy, even a janky $3 clearance Ethernet cable. After 5-6 "no thank you"s, I'm out the door. * Staffing - Depending on the day you go in, it's hard to find someone to help you track down an item or a cable. I was looking for a specific USB-3 to USB-C converter and basically wandered the whole store before I found them myself. OTHER NOTES * Parking - on the West side of the building -- generally easier to get in and out of. * Expertise - Employees are mostly teenagers and in their early 20s, and generally didn't seem to know anything about what was being sold. I realize that going back to the days when tech retail had knowledgeable staff is probably long gone due to internet competition, so I'm going to let that one go. read more

Staff was friendly and courteous, Problem was fixed quickly (Saturday drop-off, picked up on Monday). So the good thing about Micro Center is their staff usually is very knowledgeable and can help you compared to Best Buy or Target, or Walmart. It seems Micro Center provides training. I'm giving it two stars because I had different experiences with different staff. I was looking to buy a monitor, and the First Gentleman to help me was very helpful and explained everything, the difference between the various products they offered and the prices. Once he knew what I was looking for offered me the best product he thought would meet my needs and would also not break my wallet. However, he had to leave because when I first arrived, he was towards the end of his shift, and he had somewhere to be. I understood, and he provided excellent service. He said he would get someone else to help me. The second staff member was the complete opposite. He was rude and impatient and did not take the time to explain the different products I could get with them and why they were priced so differently. On top of that, he didn't care about my wallet. He just picked one, told me the price was the price, and did not care. It was 200 dollars. It's ridiculous how micro center cheapest docking station is 200 dollars and they offer monitors for 50 bucks. When I asked if he had any used or refurbished options he said no. I asked if I could purchase it on Amazon or eBay cheaper and he didn't answer the question. He just said the price is the price either you buy it or you don't. Then said if I don't like it I can return it. Because It was something I really needed right away I went ahead and bought it. Came to find out that you can buy docking stations for 30 dollars and they work just as well for my purpose of using a dual screen for school work and very basic every day tasks. So the second staff member was awful. Not to mention he told me that the monitor I bought did not come with a hdmi cable and made me buy a 40 cable which is what the cheapest Micro center had. Again some of their prices are way to expensive. You can get HDMI way cheaper than that. Long behold when I go to set everything up the monitor has two hdmi cables and a display cable. I literally bought one for no reason. My friend's dad works with computers and was able to give me a monitor much better than the one I bought for free and can give me two of them replacing the cheap monitor I already had. So because of the terrible experience I had with the second staff member even though I spent like 300 dollars at micro center I will be returning everything. And I will be very hesitant to come back and purchase anything from micro center. I will use them for their knowledge because most of their staff are very knowledgeable but their prices are way over priced and ridiculous you can find the same products on Amazon and other places much cheaper. So use for knowledge and to know what you need to buy but do not buy any of their products. And it's all because I had a terrible experience with the second staff member. If I just had my entire experience with the first staff member then I probably would have been like okay well I really liked your service that I'm more willing to pay for your overpriced products but nope your second staff member has ruined it for me forever. Absolutely fantastic place to buy electronics. They always have great deals on TVs, and I purchased 2 out of my last three TVs from them. One of them was literally a third the price that Amazon was selling the same TV for. They have great deals on computers as well - especially if you get an open box one from them. Also important is how they have things in stock. You may need a cable or charger or card that isn't sold at the big box stores, and would typically need to be shipped in, but Microcenter will carry it and have it in stock. read more

I love Fry's which was on the West Coast but recently permanently went out of business. This location of MicroCenter reminds me a lot of the Fry's of old where everything is packed in and like a maze. I was in the area and decided to stop by. OK displays and a fairly big store. My favorite and home store is in Fairfax where I've bought a ton of stuff from monitors to gaming laptops - much bigger/better displays/service always great. This store was OK and I will say that the front parking lot is insane so this would be a definite negative. I lucked out to park in the back but it was crazy navigating to with GPS. Presentation is key to unplanned purchasing and this store was just packed in like a warehouse whereas the Fairfax store is much nicer in displays, etc. read more

I recently dropped my laptop off for a black screen. Two days later I contacted Micro Center via chat and was advised that my computer was ready. I was given my computer tried turning it on and still had a black screen. Another tech advised it's probably my motherboard and it would cost over $500 to put a new motherboard in. After doing some research the motherboard was less than $100. I then asked how much it would cost to remove the SSD Drive and was told $135. After watching YouTube on removing the SSD drive it took less than 5 minutes. They just rip consumers off. read more

Microcenter is good for buying parts and components. This review is catered towards their service desk. I turned in my computer with an issue two weeks ago and was told that it would take 7-10 days to get it processed. I come back a week later, told it'd be 3-4 more days at most. I come back against 15 days later and find out the technician that was assigned to my ticket left and it wasn't reassigned until I came in to check up on it. Was told it would take another week. I took the computer back and got a refund for the work that didn't happen. I'm not sure what's going on but between the prebuilt orders and the wall of laptops the service desk seems to be in dire straits. I think they should suspend taking in more orders until they're caught up with their existing tickets and put a call out to head hunters to bring on some more staff for this section. It stinks for someone in my position because the time my computer spent on a shelf eats into the warranty window. I can only imagine someone with a more urgent need should seek help elsewhere. read more

Needed a simple laptop repair recently, and it was the worst experience I've had with Microcenter in more than a decade as a customer. Job took nearly 3 weeks because they ordered the wrong part. Worse was the automated info system which sent me wrong updates multiple times. I had to call the service dept every 2-3 days for accurate info. Computer eventually was fixed. read more

Adding a star based on my interaction with the store manager, Marc. Since my original review, Micro Center contacted me twice to inform me the parts for my computer came in, and I could come back to the store to have them installed. I didn't ask for the parts to be ordered. Marc said to work with him directly, so I emailed him asking if there was miscommunication/if the parts were correct, etc. I was assured the parts were correct. Now, I've heard this before, but they're already in store, and if it resolves my issue, then...OK, I'll trek another hour to the store on Fri., and hour back home, and do the same thing the next day to pick up my computer. Sat. the news comes in. Bad news: Same issue as before. Good news: They're going to give me a new computer (albeit a different brand/different specs). Not quite what I was hoping for, but at least I have a machine that works correctly! read more

Tech support here is the worst. I have had two terrible experiences. First, I bought a Dell PC that Microcenter had supposedly "upgraded" by installing a larger SSD drive. In fact, they used an inferior SSD that caused the PC to regularly crash. I brought it in and they claimed they couldn't replicate the problem, though it was widely documented by others who had purchased that "upgraded" model and reviewed it online. Dell sent a tech to my house who could not diagose it, and then I shipped the PC to Dell. Dell determined that the problem was the so-called "updgraded" SSD drive, which Dell wouldn't replace because Microcenter, not Dell, had installed it. I was finally able to get Microcenter to replace their low quality SSD, but not until after months of back-and-forth and long periods of not being able to use my PC. Second, Microcenter is the local servicer for Lenovo. My laptop battery died and Lenovo directed me to bring it to Microcenter for an in-warranty replacement and installation. I dropped it off on Feb 19, 2024 and was told by Microcenter I would have it back in around a week (both Lenovo and Microcenter said that it takes 3-5 days to arrive after Microcenter requests the part from Lenovo). Later the same day (Feb 19), Microcenter sent a text saying they had ordered the battery and it would arrive in 3-5 days. After a week, it was still not done. I texted Microcenter and received no response. I called and they said the part had been ordered and would arrive any day. That was a lie. In fact, they had not ordered it when they claimed they had. I later learned (from Lenovo) that Microcenter didn't request it until March 5 -- three weeks after I brought it to them and 3 weeks after they claimed (falsely) that they had ordered it. When I confronted Microcenter with that information, they admitted that the only person who can order from Lenovo had been out on leave and had not ordered it until March 5. I still don't have my laptop. I just returned from travel where I needed it, and I am about to leave again on travel in a few days where I will need it and may not have it. They are truly the worst. read more

A new Ideapad was purchased in June of 2022. It stopped working and Micro Center won't even look at it or diagnosis it without a high cost. They told me when purchased that this idea pad was under warranty for a year. Today they said 6 months and when called again they said from June to September 2022 was the warranty. They are the most irresponsible company I have ever dealt with since I started working 35 years ago. I brought a computer for repair and they indicated that it was dead. I took it to my friend who collects parts thinking he might be able to salvage something. What he found was that there was nothing wrong with the laptop and MIcro Center did not connect the new hard drive properly. $230 later and no refund. They know nothing about laptops, desktops and tablets. As a third party reseller opne would think that equipment under warranty that they sell, would be serviced and they would take responsibility for the manufacturer. Stop lying and hire people who have a modicum of experience!!! DO NOT go to Micro Center unless you just want to give away your money. I was first introduced to Micro Center by one of my family members. They took me to the website and it was there that I discovered that I could purchase my item online and then pick it up in one of the stores. The process works like this: You go their website, find your item, purchase it and select that you want to pick it up at one of their stores (you have to select the store). You then wait for a confirmation which is sent to the email address you provided when you purchased your item. That email then states that your product is ready for pick up in the store and they also give you a few days to pick up that item. You will need both your ID and that email confirmation to actually get your product. For this review, I picked up the product within an hour after purchasing it online. Micro Center is located in Federal Plaza. The parking is free and you can enter the store from the parking in the back of the plaza (entrance is on E. Jefferson Street) or in the front of the plaza (entrance is on Rockville Pike or Rt. 355). On this visit I parked in the back of the plaza, but when I went to enter the doors, there were writings on the doors that said "After Hours Exit" and they were written backwards, so I initially was not sure if I could enter through those doors at the time. Luckily another shopper came by and opened one of the doors, so it was good to know that they opened. Once in, you then take an escalator up and once at the top of the escalator, to your right will be the entrance for Micro Center. The first thing I saw when I entered was a Knowledge Bar to the right. I guess if you need questions on something you buy, you can ask someone - I don't know for sure if that is the case or not or if there is a charge. I was a little lost in trying to find where to go for the Internet Purchase. There was an Aisle Sign hanging from the ceiling that pointed in a left direction (Aisle 1 - Internet Pickup), but I was still confused as to where to go. I knew it was not the cashier area which was to the left of me. I stood for a few minutes, looking confused and decided to do a 360 turn and it was then that I found a little booth that said "Internet Pickup" at the top of the booth. It ended up being right next to the Magazine rack. So what you do is give the attendant your printed email confirmation and your ID and you are then presented with your product (in less than 2 minutes). You pay for your product, show your receipt at the door before your leave and that is it. If I had to do it all over again, I would do the same process. It is so much easier and quicker because that store is huge. read more

Terrible experience all around. My desktop computer essentially died & was unable to view my hard drive, so I spoke to Apple. Due to COVID-19 related local Apple Store temporary closures, there were no Genius Bars to go to in driving distance, so they suggested I go to the Micro Center in Rockville, MD to have them run diagnostics and get the hard drive data transferred to an external hard drive (if possible). I am never going to this place again. 1-2 hour waiting time on-site (even if scheduled appointment), intense lack of staff to customer communication/updates, intense lack of intra-communication, poor customer service, and unable to complete the job in a timely or efficient manner. And, I ended up paying $150 for a "full data transfer" and diagnostics report, but received [after over 40 days with the Micro Center] one sentence regarding diagnostics being run four times (no report) and 1/4 of my hard drive transferred... 1- Just today I waited in line for 30 minutes + just to request help with opening a case for a product. Multiple employees walked by and if you ask them, they disrespectfully say they can't help and need to help someone else. Pretty much just putting a finger up to tell you to wait a second and walking away. 2- I have had a problem with a micro center prebuilt computer cause they didn't inform me I cannot connect dual monitors so I went back to ask what's if somethings wrong the first time and the second time I brought it back, it had a bad OS - same exact model I drove back and forth. Wasted my time until I bought an entirely new model. 3 - Another time after that, i was looking for an adaptor for a modem to extend Ethernet connections and I had received advice from an associate, per his recommendation I picked up a device then wasted multiple hours researching online and reading blogs just to discover what I got is entirely wrong. Worst of all, when I went back to inform a manager what happened and inform him that one of his employees in his own specific section, knew nothing about what I needed and I ended up wasting a bunch of my time and gas, he just replied that his guys are new and that can happen sometimes because of that. TDLR - They are disrespectful and unprofessional. Plenty of issues I've had and I don't have a complaint until it's the 3rd or 4th time cause I don't like to complain to be honest. I have been coming here for the better part of a decade and one thing always stands out to me and that is the service. I have come here to find various items through the years and while they do not always have the best prices the customer service is generally very good. They really do go out of their way to help you. For example, a friend of mine broke my hard drive and it has a ton of files on it that I want. I line in Florida and I checked locally for options to check what was wrong with my hard drive and the prices just for checking were all rather high. If checking to see if there is an issue is expensive, odds are the fix will be expensive too. But not here at Micro center. Gabriel and Tony helped me out and took a look at no cost to see if there was anything they could do for me. It turns out that the hard drive has a broken part, but the data is safe. The price and time was a bit inconvenient for me at the moment, but the service was great. It was transparent and I took care of all of this in about thirty minutes instead of some long and murky process that other places offer where they try and rob you. Ever been to Best Buy? Microcenter has been an essential store for me since I'm always updating bits and pieces of my pc and buying stuff for my family. There are so many options for practically any item you need related to technology, office/school items, pre-built computers and laptops, a section for building your own computers/laptops, 3D printing, a section specifically for Apple products, a service center, and a section for Knick knacks (raspberry pi's and accessories, drones, arcade machine, etc.) Generally I have always been able to get the items I need from the store, and if I am with my boyfriend then employees will ask him if he needs assistance. Mind you, my boyfriend just tags along while I'm the one looking for items. Normally I would chime in tell them what I need, but it's starting to really bother me that on a normal circumstance I can never get assistance when I don't come in with my boyfriend. It's a little disheartening, especially because I wasn't expecting to be treated differently by gender in this day and age. I think I'm going to stick to just buying online for store pick up to avoid these encounters. I'd only go to that section physically if I can't order, like the new gpus you can't get your hands on right now. If I'm wandering the store myself there is a very low chance of an employee actually asking me if I need help getting an item or assistance with picking out items. The other day I was trying to look at SSDs while other people are also in the build your own PC section, and there are ample employees going about helping other guests and some just relaxing. Not a single person approached me about what type of SSD I wanted or even help me get the items behind a locked case. One employee even walked by me 3 times, looked me in the eye and walked away, all the while I'm in the exact same spot next to the main desk. I was finally able to get assistance at one point and absolutely no conversation and he seemed like he didn't want to be there at all, just grabbed my items and stuck his employee sticker on them as if he actually helped me. read more

I have new information to report about my experience at the Rockville MicroCenter. Last night I got a call from Marc, the store manager, because he had read my Yelp review. He is a very easy person to deal with and has the tough job of retaining the rare staffers who have decent tech skills and teaching them to relate better to customers. He is following up with those of us who have expressed frustration with his staff and he apologized profusely for the way I had been treated. He offered his contact info in case of a repeat, which I found very reassuring. I understand that he will ensure that my needs are met next time, possibly by him directly, as he is a manager that knows a fair amount about his subject. This cautious three star review reflects my improved view of MicroCenter Rockville, based on my experience with its manager. I will follow up once this has been put to the test. read more

When your entire company gets hacked and you get brand new laptops it's a bittersweet reason to visit Micro Center. I'll be honest, in the past I had zero interest in Micro Center. Typical we would come in against my better judgement and spend over an hour looking at items we didn't need. I would last about ten minutes and then leave to find something else. During my visit last night it was actually *me* who needed something and suggested the visit... I know- shocking. This location is located in the plaza and the parking lot is a joke. If you can prevent yourself from getting in an accident long enough to park you'll be golden. Once inside you'll see an overflowing abundance of electronics and accessories. In my honest opinion they have everything you could possibly need when it comes to computers. The store is definitely geared towards computers unlike Best Buy that has everything. (Keep that in mind depending on what you're there for.) Before our visit I browsed the Micro Center website in hopes of a quick visit. I was honestly only there for a wireless keyboard and mouse which was easy enough to find. Luckily if you're having a hard time finding something there are a lot of employees wandering around eager to help you out. Despite finding exactly what I needed within five minutes we were still there for over a half hour hour looking around. Check out was easy and before my visit I received a coupon in the mail for a free item with purchase- I cashed in on that as well. Overall this store met my expectations and staff were friendly and willing to help. If I find myself needing computer related items I have no problem stopping back in... for ten minutes. read more

Let me be clear about this up front: I have NO issues with Microcenter, the store. I actually have had pretty plesant experiences with them on the purchasing aspect of things. My issues and subsequent low rating from me is because of their in-house tech support and repair. Holy God what a nightmare. I brought my not-so-old gaming laptop in to get the trackpad fixed. Easy enough to do, I'd imagine. Right up front, they say they won't be able to look at it for at least 2 weeks. Okay... fine. Two weeks and some change go by, and I call for an update. The guy who was supposed to be working on my laptop apparently took a "sudden leave of absence" and the part wasn't even ordered. So they ordered it that day, saying it would be overnighted to them. Okay, fine. Another week goes by, and I call again for an update. Apparently, someone forgot to actually hit SEND on the order, so my part is still not even there. I demand to speak with a manager, who is doing his best to manage my growing frustration with this mess, saying he will personally see to it that everything gets handled today, it should be there in a few days, apologies, and blah blah blah. Whatever. So ANOTHER week goes by (we're at today now), I call for an update, and wouldn't you know it, My tech is once again on "unexpected leave" and the part still hasn't gotten there after a week of supposedly having ordered it. I'm about to lose what patience I have left. Mirco Center, yall need to get your tech support together, because this is an absolute circus. The techs are useless on the phone, and the managers are only marginally better because at the end of the day if something isn't done, no amount of me fussing at them is going to get it done any faster. Whatever is happening behind the scenes is greatly affecting their efficacy overall. I know for what little I'm asking them to do, on top of the extended warrenty I bought when I purchased the computer, they'd better not expect me to drop a single penny for this crap on a stick they're passing off as service. This place is a technophiles Disneyland. They have more options than BestBuy and usually when what I want at BestBuy is out of stock, Micro Center will have it. But there's usually a price premium. Often times tech is more expensive here than other places. The layout of this store takes some getting used to. I often need to ask for help when trying to find something in particular. But the staff is friendly and usually knowledgeable about different things. I've forgotten the name of different things I've wanted to buy, and the staff would always help me find what I needed. read more

If you don't want to spend time at Best Buy and you're looking for something electronic, Micro Center probably has it. The staff are very knowledgeable so don't be put off by the slightly disorganized look and feel of the place. When I need something I will usually just find the first worker I see and ask them to show where it is. They usually have some pretty good deals too. I have deducted one star because their selection can be limited. But if you have questions and you want to speak to a real person who knows about the technology, this is probably the best place to go in the area. However this is a really good place to get accessories and parts and if you are a DIYer, this is the place to go. Especially since RadioShack has disappeared. It is about the only place you can find electronic components and parts. read more

I just picked up my MacBook Air from the Service Center in the Rockville Store in Maryland and it was a disaster! I had two keys that were malfunctioning giving me double "aa" and double "ss" and paid $40 for diagnostic services. After I got an estimate for nearly $500 for repairs I said forget it I'll pick up my machine and go elsewhere. When I went into the store to pick up my computer, something told me to check it...before leaving the store. I tried to turn it on and it failed! WHAT? I asked the technician to check it. He said it was experiencing an 80% failure rate. That the keyboard was damaged by oil and none of the keys worked! He had to rig something from the rear of the system to get it to come on to bypass the keyboard to get it to start up. I left the store in tears with my computer! I was so upset. I expressed my displeasure, but no one could do anything about it unless I was willing to pay $500 to have it fixed. NEVER AGAIN. I had a silicone keyboard protective cover, so oil damage? That did not come from me! They are responsible for that! Do not trust your precious pricey electronic devices to these people! Go to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store. I only came here because it was convenient...never again! Never again! Save your money, time, and aggravation.! Stay away from Microcenter Rockville Repair with your precious Mac! I love my Mac like it might be an animate object, a member of my family! Go anywhere buy here! A true Mac Devotee! read more

Best store ever. For a maker/3D printer they have all the supplies I need. Spare parts and excellent quality Filament for printing. Staff is great and super helpful. I now buy all by tech here. Webcams, gaming PCs, laptops etc. read more

I bought an old Desktop PC recently and was struggling to find a connector cable to connect the second terminal to the PC. I checked Amazon and EBay and was not able to find the right part. Then a sales associates from Best Buy recommend me to Microcenter in Rockville for their inventory and also carrying old generation computer parts. I found a very professional and knowledgeable sales associate in Microcenter and he was able to find the right part in no time. I was highly impressed of their inventory and their knowledgeable associates. Hence I recommend all for their computer needs. The rating of their service is 10 out of 10. read more

Not good customer service the employees don't know the product and long wait to get help

I had a really grim experience with a god-awful group of cowboys (TryTechy, who wrecked my laptop and charged me a ton of money), so I travelled up to Micro Center on someone's advice as a last resort - and golly am I glad that I did. I've been to this Micro Center a few times now, and they have been absolutely brilliant with my laptop repair etc. You get reliable, great quality work, but also really super service too, and they actually saved me a lot of money too - which they didn't have to do, but they know that this is what creates customer loyalty. For months I have needed to purchase the proper cable for my new Bose TV sound system. My dated television required a cable that includes an adapter. I took both my sound system box and my television with me to Micro Center and I was attended to by two awesome sales techs. Both were so very polite, kind, and helpful. I only have praise for Micro Center employees including those at checkout. Everyone wanted to help me have a successful visit. read more
