I've been trying to return something I purchased here. My purchase experience was negative as all sales people ignored me - even I called out to ask for assistance. Upon my fifth trip to return the item, there is finally NO line wrapped around the outside of the building for entry. I get inside and ask where the return desk is and I'm told I have to get in the regular checkout line. I look and it's wrapped across front of the store and halfway to the back of the store. I love Microcenter! I've known about them for years, and always heard good things about them and their prices. This is how a computer store should be. Being that its the only one in the state, its jammin! I have purchased several things here over the years, including my laptop, my most expensive purchase through them. The sales people here really are true tech nerds, and I mean that in a very good way. I always have a million questions, and they are able to answer them all. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and really walked me through all of my purchases, both big and small. I don't have a problem with getting electronics at places like Best Buy, or other similar shops, but I prefer Micro Center because they make the process easy. They specialize in all kinds of stuff, not just laptops and all the "hot" items on the market today. They have gaming systems, serious hardware for anyone and all sorts of deals. Their prices are quite reasonable too. I plan on returning here in the future. The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is for a few small reasons that stick out in my mind. For example, the parking lot here doesn't seem to have a lot of spaces, and fills up quickly. Due to their popularity, lines can be long at times. Nothing terrible, but they can jam up but the staff works hard to do their best. I will continue to shop here, as the staff really knows their stuff. Go check them out. This was my first time at the Micro Center in Madison Heights, MI and the whole experience was a pleasure. I had done my research prior to going to the store and my computer parts choices didn't require many corrections. The build took longer than estimated but not outrageously so. The build itself was wonderfully done. I agree with the people who are critical about being able to reach them easily. The floor staff were friendly and offered their help. So many items I would have liked to check out. My experience went very well so I can't say that the people who have had negative interactions were an anomaly. I live 3 1/2 hours away so I will not have much contact with them going forward. read more

In one word my experience here is - WOW! I have never been here before but was recommended by a friend to stop in since I was in the market for a laptop and this place does NOT disappoint. The pricing is excellent cheaper then their competitors and their warranties are also fantastic because it covers some things that most do not like spills or user error occurrences like dropping it on the ground ect. The employees here also were by far my favorite above most places I've been. They are extremely knowledgeable with their products and are so upbeat and friendly. Been here a few times to get some technology that I wasn't too familiar with and didn't do too much research prior to purchasing. Each time, an employee sensed my struggle and came to my aid to assist me and didn't try to up-sell to me. Items in the store are properly priced. Obviously, your fancier tech items are going to be expensive (you get what you pay for). It's right off of I-75 at fourteen mile. You can't miss it! I've had better customer service from insurance companies. These guys absolutely botch the online order I did. I ordered a couple things on Saturday 11/30/24, Never got any email letting me know they were out of stock, even though the website said the stuff was in stock. Had to find a ride down to Madison heights, only to be informed that they were out of stock and to get lost. I wasn't the only customer that was told this. So I went and looked in the actual Isles to find they did have it in stock. When I went to get an associate to pull said items, I was greeted by one of their team member's That very rudely blew me off as he didn't care. The attitude was absolutely not needed. I proceeded to bring it to a managers attention and was promptly blown off by the guy. I understand how hectic and crazy it is right now, however that's no excuse for that behavior. I am a store manager, if any of my employees treated customers how I was treated, they would have been looking for another job that moment. The treatment I received is absolutely unacceptable in any professional business. UPDATE, Tried contacting their corporate office only to get blown off about the behavior of their employees. They know they have a problem with the Staff and refuse to do anything about it. I will get my stuff from Best Buy and Amazon at this point. I'll vote with my Wallet. read more

like the store, it really has a huge variety of electronics at a good price, but its only available at Michigan.

Seemingly no Covid safety measures at all. There was 140 people in the store when I went there (I know that because a manager I spoke with pointed to the number on a screen and claimed that it was okay) - both the normal line and the internet pickup line were wrapped around the store with little to no social distancing even possible let alone encouraged by any staff. This store and the management in charge are putting everyone in a dangerous situation. It is their responsibility to keep everyone safe, and they are failing. EDIT: Down to 1-star instead of 2. I don't know what Micro Center as a company is doing but there is no way to contact the store by phone. If you try really hard, you can find a number online that goes straight to their main corporate number, not the individual store. I wanted to see if I could curbside pickup my order instead of going into this store again physically. No way to do that, no way to talk to anyone about it. My less than 2 year old dell laptop- took an extended break. All efforts of mine to revive it didn't work. Made an appointment for repair. The appointment didn't matter, everyone waited in the same line. Service technician checked it out, was told it was a windows corruption. $100 quick fix. Was told I could wait for 45 minutes for repair. Soo confused , I had other appointments- asked about next day pick up - was told it probably wouldn't be done then - really?..... was basically ready next day - only a 10 minute wait. read more

Normally when we come here my boyfriend finds it hard to talk to anyone because they don't know as much as him since he researches for HOURS before coming to look at anything in person. Our current TV burned up so after hours of researching we decided to come buy a TV from here and we were greeted by Matt T who was extremely knowledgeable. My boyfriend was so thrilled that he could talk to someone who knows as much as him if not more. Matt also informed us that they have a deal for 4 months interest free credit card which we ended up getting! While checking out we had a small issue and he just happened to check on us to make sure we were all set. Matt was able to help us out with the issue and get it figured out. Another disappointing experience. HP 255 G4 15.6" Laptop Computer - I looked up this model online and it showed one left at the Madison Heights store. I traveled to the store, only to be told that there were none left, even after looking up the inventory online in the store and still finding one listed. The salesman talked me in to an 'open box' unit of the same model. I took the laptop home and it fired up as expected. It was just right for my use. Unfortunately, I found that even when sitting within 6 feet of my wireless router, I could barely pick up a WiFi signal. As in the past, I had to waste my time on a return trip and take the laptop back for a refund. Over the years, I have purchased 4 or 5 defective laptops from MicroCenter, either refurbished or open box. In retrospect, I can not recall the last time I purchased a good, working, refurbished or open box laptop from MicroCenter. Rather than checking each returned unit, they simply take the defective unit, do a factory reset, re-box it, and sell it to the next unsuspecting customer. * Buyer beware when it comes to any refurbished or open box unit from MicroCenter! On the bright side, if you purchase a good laptop, they generally have good prices. Of course, there is always the obligatory up sell for extended warranty and such. No matter what you buy, they will offer to sell an extended warranty. By the way, I received an email invitation to write a review on their website, but after reading the legal disclaimers, where they basically say that they can take my review and edit it in any way to suit their needs, I chose to use Yelp to review the product. read more

Wow, I miss actual computer stores from the day! I actually forgot how much I missed them until Micro Center came around. It has a good selection of most everything needed to build your own system or to mod existing ones, whether you're a gamer looking boost your stats (if that's still a thing this week) or a more serious user. For those looking for packaged systems from the old standbys, they have a good selection of those, too - whether it's tablets, phones, laptops, or desktops (for those of us still commuting to an office by dinosaur). They offer a decent selection of most accessories, except for an admittedly lacking software department for those who still want to deal with software they can hold in their hands - no really, kids, software used to always come in a box! Ewwww. They also have a decent hobby section (drones now crowding out RC planes, boats, and the like). They have a few televisions and smart home stuff, too. Yes, everything you can get here, you can also get online somewhere without the brick and mortar locations. So, why do I like it? Microcenter needs to update their website. Rare video card that is impossible to get shows up on their website as limited availability (I should have known better). I try calling and can't get through, the website claims their inventory is updated on site every ten minutes. I drive a 1/2 hour to get there, then wait in a half hour covid line to get in. I walk up to the area where the card is supposed to be and the guy instantly informs me the card is sold out, they haven't had any in a while and don't know when they will get more in the future. I am not happy. First get your site updated, or have a phone number that works and finally failing all that put a sign outside your store so I dont wait in a freaking line. Moments after I walked away they did the same song and dance for another customer, get your stuff traight and you don't have to explain this to someone else every 5 minutes. read more

After waiting for over 10 minutes with two bad hips and a bad knee I went up to the counter about 10 ft away and ask the person if I could have a raspberry pie 400. He told me I'd have to go back and wait. I told him I have been waiting yet the employees are ignoring the customers and he just said I'm sorry. Stop walking out after being 5 ft away from what I needed. Buy only to drive an hour back home. Well somebody please give me a 1-800 number for the company?! My husband had already done his due diligence and thought he knew what wanted but Colin's recommendations seemed to make sense!! We recently upgraded to high speed internet and dropped the cable and our current modem router is unable to handle it. Anyway ... he was patient and took his time until the look of went away for me and was replaced with ! The store itself is SO fun!! Gadgets everywhere!! Love ALL of that!! It was crowded!! This is the best computer/technology store in Michigan. I'm here just about every week either for myself or to pick up equipment for work. If a part exists, Micro center probably carries it. Micro center isn't just for parts either, they also have a large selection of TVs, monitors, laptops, prebuilt PCs, smartphones, smartwatches, smart home devices, networking equipment, and other accessories. The staff is super helpful in helping you find what you need, even if you aren't sure what you're looking for. They are actually knowledgeable and aren't just salesman/cashiers you might find at other major stores. Their website is also great at helping you find specific item locations, with the current stock and aisle number for every product in the store. I basically shop here for anything that uses electricity now, they have everything I've ever needed and then some. read more

Micro Center is THE place to go for your PC Building/ Hobby electronics needs. I built 2 PCs using parts I've bought here, and the store and its staff make the experience super easy and cost effective if you know how to shop the sales. PC Building is a hobby where the journey is part of the fun, and Micro Center makes it fun to look for sales and build the PC over time. Keep an eye out for their motherboard/ CPU combo deals especially, it's a great time to get crazy savings on that combo. The staff who work the PC parts section know their stuff and can be super helpful when directing you to make your purchases and make sure they fulfill your needs. Buying components for hobby electronics here is also a breeze and much much more satisfying than waiting for a while for your online purchases to arrive. I've bought components for Arduino projects and Raspberry Pi projects here, and the staff is helpful but not too intrusive in that department as they know most people who are in that space tend to know what they're looking for. It seems the sales staff do work for commission on the products they help you with, so don't be surprised if you get them trying to put their stickers on the products they helped you pick out. It's not really a big deal/ hinderance, but a quirk that's somewhat unique to this story in today's shopping environment. That said, Micro Center can be a godsend when you're looking for specific parts immediately, and their sales are unbeatable. I have shopped at Micro Center about 25 times. imho - They have a wide selection of quality products. Plus a distinct value add - knowledgeable and helpful sales people. Additionally, their service technician repaired our Apple laptop and we were very satisfied. And several times I have asked for assistance from their customer service people and was pleasantly surprised by their willingness to understand my POV and their responses. It appears that they're meeting the significant challenge of responding to the needs of their highly diverse customers in a continuously evolving technical market. (I hope this continues!) read more

18 minutes from ordering to pick up- what they don't mention is you'll wait an additional 45 minutes inside the store while they try and track down your items. The organization at this store is insane and laughable. While waiting for the less than capable gentleman behind the counter to find my items the manager came up to ask how everything was going. Not well, I told her, not well at all. She brushed off my concern and told me they were doing as best as they could. I will not be back. I have been a Micro Center customer for 20+ years and until today, I was a satisfied customer. I was in the Sterling Heights store this afternoon after I ordered RAM for my laptop and installation online from their website. I received an email telling me to go to Quick Drop Off and show them the email. They would check me in and perform my service, then letting me know it was done. I paid in full online so I should have been in and out in 20 minutes, right? WRONG! I get to Quick drop to find Matt W, who immediately began expressing his superior intelligence by saying I had the wrong instructions and needed to go to the online pickup, "But wait, let me ask my manager..." 6 minutes later, he reemerged to inform me that they could perform the order there. Made sense since THEY were installing. Matt W proceeded to disassemble my computer and IMMEDIATELY exclaim that I had purchased the WRONG memory chips. ok, one would think being in the store, it would be no problem, right? WRONG!!!!!! Now, my thought (being a former retail manager) is that you find the correct memory chips and perform an exchange. Call me mentally challenged, but I don't see why that is not the simplest thing to do. NOOOOOO! Matt W would have none of that. After I finally got him to understand that two 32gb chips would do the same thing whether purchased separately OR in a bundle pack. So, if I could have the two 32gb chips, that wouldbe great. He proceeded to input all the information and looked at me and asked for the same amount I just paid online!!!!! WTF??!?!?!?! he processed the transaction as a refund rather than exchange (for some reason) and from that moment on, I had to return (or cancel) the original and wait 3-5 days for the money to "go back" (because it wasn't a refund according to the manager at the door) to my account. I asked to speak to his manager (I have been here thirty minutes now) and he ges again to the back. He returns with another person named Matt H, who was supposed to be the "Knowledge Manager". Matt H enters in full confrontational mode asking, "SO, what's the problem here?!" Not Hello. Not How can I help you......NO NO So What's the Problem Here??? THAT is what he said to me. I explained that I did not understand why I had to pay MORE money today when they could just exchange it and put the RAM in and be done. He kept repeating that refunds take 3-5 days and eventually changed to it has not been charged to my account and would fall off in 3-5 days. I am so sorry. But that made NO sense to me I am going to pay $600 for some memory because a person is too incompetent, too lazy, or too racist to accommodate me. I asked to speak to the store manager, and was told by Matt H that I would deal with HIM, or no one and I would NOT speak to the store manager! He went on to say that if I wanted the memory I would have to pay for it and wait for the original to fall off, or just wait for it to fall off. Either way, he was done. He slammed his card on the counter. I am almost 60 years old and a great deal of that time has been in retail management. I promise had I heard of ANY employee of mine even thinking in the tone of voice that Matt H "SPOKE" to me in would have been fired immediately! I get that everyone is emotional these days and I appreciate people working. But working is a choice that EACH employee makes and customers should not be penalized or mistreated because they are unhappy. See, cause what happens is that people like ME never again go to 32800 Concord Dr., Madison Heights, MI 48071 for their computer needs. There was no NO NO reason for this incident to have escalated to the level that it did. I paid the money for the RAM because I wanted it, i was frustrated, and I wanted to get out of there before i blew. the Final manager I spoke with was very apologetic and very helpful. I did not get HIS name. But, he was running front end and sending people where they were needed (register 4, Isle 4, etc...) Very nice guy! He explained that they were using a new system and not everyone was up to speed on it. HE was the only reason I made a purchase today. While it MAY have been true, then you explain tot he customer that you do not know how to do it. You dont talk to them as if they are an inconvenience. You dont look at them with vitriol in your eyes because they challenged you. You make sure the customer is happy and go on with your day. I was in that store for an hour. Christ in Heaven, all anyone had to do was perform an exchange!!!! You would rather argue and be nasty to the customer than just do the f-ing exchange and be done!!!! We swung by to get an in store pickup of my husband's ordering. This did not mean we came in, got it and left though, oh no I am not that lucky. We stayed to browse and drool, well he did at least. I was just along for the ride and to get some Madison Heights grub. As my belly growled and my head spun it was hard to appreciate the place I will admit. James however was happily engrossed in geek gear and bargain hunting. He seemed to find deals and that works. I reap the rewards. I'm not that into the getting of the goods part, but once we get home and you set whatever it is up I'm all happy with it. Yep there you have it, I am not a geek. I fail. I purchased my prior motherboard and processor (X99 and 5930k) from Microcenter, and now I've also purchased a deal of a PC (~$450 Amd 2600g computer). The PC was running a totally messed up bios version (the revision didn't actually exist for the motherboard), but the PC was very good components for the money. Recently, I went to this location and purchased a good deal on a clearance refurbished gtx 1070. It was a good deal, however when I brought it home and plugged it in to the vr, black lines started. I brought the card back disappointed, knowing they were sold out of 1070s and I'd need to buy a 2060 if I wanted to keep/improve performance. I spoke to the manager and he offered to split the additional cost 50/50. That was a really nice gesture given the experience.
