I never write reviews but I had to this time. A couple weeks ago my Yahoo account was hacked and I've been slowly getting everything back together. However, I managed to delete my network adapter and despite much time on the internet (using my other computer), couldn't re-install it. I found James on Yelp. let me say this briefly; A. James and Synergies Tech was recommended to me by a coworker who went to him to get his iPad screen replaced. I am fairly tech savvy and had not seen the need to take any of my computers, tablets, or phones to anyone for service in the past, but my wife's laptop was acting up and I was worried that the hard drive was failing so I gave him a try. James immediately identified the issue as a dirty/clogged cooling fan and was able to fix it at a minimal cost. I then began inquiring about updating vs. buying a new one, as several years of use had rendered the laptop very slow. James discussed the options and I decided to have him install a new solid state drive (SSD) to speed things up as well as a re-installation of Windows. The cost was less than buying a new, cheap laptop and when I got it back (2 days later) it was as fast as my lightning-quick Chromebook. The difference was amazing! A few weeks later my wife cracked the glass on her iPhone and James was able to have it fixed the same day and at a cost that enabled me to get my secondary insurance deductible waived. Finally, a few weeks after taking the laptop to work it began to black-out upon startup. James took it back 3 times to try and find the issue and determined it was an problem with the power supply (bad battery - worked fine as long as it was charging). James didn't charge me for the diagnosis - in fact he felt bad that we had to come back so soon after he had done work on it - even though the issue had nothing to do with his work. Honest and trustworthy people and businesses are hard to come by - especially with items that are difficult for the average person to handle/diagnose themselves. James is part of my team of people who help me with my small business. Being self employed goes a lot better when I have reliable people to call for different things. James/Synergies Tech is basically my IT department. As soon as I have a computer problem, I drop my tower off and it's usually back to me same day or next day. He gives great advice and I trust him. I think the prices are good although I haven't shopped around. Once I found this place I've never had a reason to go elsewhere. One time I brought my tower in and the fix was so quick for him he didn't even charge me. Another time I thought I needed more memory but he showed me I didn't instead of taking the opportunity to upsell me. Brought my desktop in as it had crashed. James immediately plugged it in and felt the motherboard had shorted out. Suggested a repair of about $300 and added that it probably wasn't worth it. My laptop died after plugging an external hard drive into USB so I decided to take it here based on the great online reviews. Someone else could've easily told me that the motherboard was fried and charged me to fix it or to save the hard drive, and I would've believed them and paid up. But James let me know it was just a fluke battery issue, and he had it up and running later that day. Moved to the Pontiac area recently for a temporary stay. While there, my Macbook Pro completely stopped working at a critical time. I called quite a few places based on Yelp reviews and decided to go with Synergies Tech. James was pleasant on the phone and took the time to talk me through what might possibly be wrong with my laptop. Based on the phone call, I decided to go with Synergies and brought in my laptop. James & I been through a lot. In the end, I'm left with my Macbook pro in several pieces. I am dissatisfied with his service overall but more disappointed with his attitude. I took my laptop to James for a simple screen replacement, because there was a crack & I did not want to see it anymore. My laptop has been in pieces since the beginning of October. after patiently waiting for James to "find" a screen because I honestly believe he did not care anymore, I decided to find someone else to fix it. James previously told me if I found someone else to fix his mess, he would pay for the cost. I did but when I told him about it, he just wanted to buy the screen and fix it himself. In the begining I tbought James was a nice guy but after suffering 3 months without being able to use my laptop in my college classes and only hearing from James when I called to see if he has found a screen that he wasn't even looking for anymore, I realized he only cared about the money and my discomfort was not important to him. James did not find a screen until I told him I found someone else to fix it, like all in the same week. It's strange that 3 months he found nothing but quickly found a screen when I found business elsewhere. I decided to let James finished his mess because I still had hope but after 3 months of me waiting for a project he originally stated will take a day to fix, he tells me I still owe him 300 dollars. It would total to 550 dollars on top of my discomfort and inability to use my laptop in school and him stating to me he will pay the cost of repairs from another business. So yeah, now I have peices of my laptop and patiently waiting and hoping I can get my laptop fix from another business. I would never in a millions years recommend this place or guy to anyone in life. The service was horrible and his attitude was even worst.
