disappointing experience!!! wanted to buy a desktop (iMAC specifically), found it online cheaper at BH photo &video ($1850 vs $1600). chatted online with microcenter, included the item/price, web link and inquiry whether they do pricematch the specific item with the specific retailer. the CSR confirmed that they do, and the process is as simple as show them the price on the other retailer's website. I placed the order. I went to pick it up, and when I requested the pricematch, the store manager was summoned and she asked a single question: how much is it at BH photo? before she turned to me and declared that she can't honor such a big price difference, but is "willing to meet me halfway". I thanked her and walked out..wasted 70 minutes of my life on a round trip..needless to say that I will never go back..what kind of store does not honor their own policies (especially after I inquired before placing the order)!! she did not ask how far I drove, but was more interested in the price difference, (and this is a 2017 model that has been discontinued!!) and then she wanted to price haggle!!! how cheap... read more

If you have a strong interest in computers and/or gaming you are not going to top Micro Center, at least not here in the Detroit area. They have the largest selection of computer and gaming merchandise that I have seen. They can sometimes be very very busy, with long lines, but the checkouts are usually fully manned and the long lines go fairly quick. I think the long lines and crowds are just an indication of how popular the store has become. The prices are very competitive. I just bought a Cooler Master HAF Computer Case and a Corsair Power Supply and their prices were better than NewEgg and Tiger Direct (just as they advertise them). I recommend them with 5 stars. My company is currently updating our computer system by building all new machines for the office and the store. We have been buying nearly all of the components for the project from Micro Center. Since we are building ten computers we have had to buy processors over time as is store policy (only one can be bought per day). When bundled with motherboards you receive a $20 discount on the board so we have been buying one board, processor, and RAM a day for a two weeks. Today when we opened one of the boards, the pins that the processor sit on were damaged and so we took it in to be exchanged. The damaged motherboard is a GIGABYTE B75M-HD3 (socket LGA 1155) The board was purchased on 10/30/2013 and I attempted to take it back on 11/7/13, 8 days from purchase. I did not want a refund, I only wanted it exchanged for an identical board. They said they could not exchange the board because it was damaged. Their only argument was "The board should not come from the Factory like that." The board was only taken out of the box and inspected, never connected to anything. Since the board could not be returned to the manufacturer by them, they could not take it back, exchange, or refund the board! The manager then suggested that I could attempt to contact the manufacturer to return the board myself. If they can't return the board new in box to the manufacturer what hope do I have?! Being a retail store ourselves, I understand that sometimes you have to eat a cost on a product for the sake of customer service. This is a lesson that is completely lost on Micro Center. When a business is spending the time and money to complete a project through your store, I think you could turn around and eat the cost of a $45 motherboard for the customer. Unbelievable! read more

I've shopped here for the last 5 years now and all I can say is thank you guys for always helping me with my computer needs. I've always bought my computers here. I would come here before I went to best buy or amazon for anything. They always have sales going on and so many brands and top names of computers. They are very well known for having a staff that knows what they are talking about unlike most retailers. If they opened more store here in Michigan I think they would do so well. Micro Center is always busy, and there are some good reasons for that. It's probably the only real computer store in Southeast Michigan, perhaps the entire state. You can get nearly anything for your PC here - motherboards, CPUs, video cards, add-on cards, specialty tools, and sundry small parts. They also have a fairly good selection of Apple products and home-entertainment equipment. Prices are impressive for a brick-and-mortar store. No, you're not comparison-shopping on eBay - but you're not paying shipping and waiting on UPS either. And the service is nice - you just have to ignore the extended-warranty shtick that you get at this and any other electronics store. read more

I have spent a few thousand dollars on a pc and had them build it and I paid for a warranty, so my aio cooler went out and I drive multiple hours to this location and they said it's under warranty and they could replace it, then he says the one I got isn't in stock anymore so he grabbed a different one and said that the only way I can get the 160$ discount from my warranty is if he takes the cooler out and puts the new one in and it won't be for 4 weeks so I had to pay for the new aio and put it in myself, fine. It sucks but whatever. Then I get home and find out the aio I payed 200$ for that was suppose to be under warranty doesn't come with the proper mounting bracket and they didn't bother to mention that so now I have to drive over an hour back for a stupid 10$ bracket. I think I'll order online from now on. I expect to be taken care of when spending thousands of dollars with them but microcenter didn't. read more

Microcenter is THE place to go for computer upgrades or repair parts. Good selection of all things electronic, and lots of software too. Watch for great deals on open box and refurb items too. The only thing I dont really like about Microcenter is the pushy floor staff. They will try to sell you a service plan on any item that you buy there. Theres always a salesman lingering around every corner, and if you stop to look at something, rest assured that someone will come jogging over to tell you all about it. Hi, I went to purchase LG TVs today from Micro Center in Madison Heights after I paid for the TVs sale's manager comes asking me to purchase insurance for the TV because they are loosing $500 per TV. So I said I'm not interested in buying the insurance for the TV. then Greg Moore said we don't have TVs for sale and that he's the manager and have the right to refund my money and refuse my purchases. They refunded my money back and took the TVs. Is that even legal?? I have 3 people witnessed this incident and have three people purchased the TVs without insurance. read more

After giving them thousands of dollars worth of business they messed my order to fix my PC. Charged me 60 dollars only to come home and find out that the problem was not fixed. I had to stop what I was doing just to write this review because I'm using the 2nd laptop I bought from this store and it hasn't even been a year and I'm already having issues with it! I got a Dell laptop that was a complete lemon and when I called Microcenter to see about a replacement I was told the 15day return window was over and I had to call Dell. Of course the warranty was up so I got stuck with it. Think I would learn my lesson? Nope! I went back to Microcenter about a yr later and bought a Lenovo 2in1 touch screen laptop and sure enough after my return window had expired this one began having issues! It appears to be a problem with the screen again. This time constant flashing (good thing I'm not epileptic). I know Microcenter is popular due to their low prices but like everything else you get what you pay for. Why do you think they have such a narrow return window? Had a poor experience this afternoon. Went in for a nexus 7. I knew exactly what I wanted with my credit card in hand. I was disappointed that because I did not appear as the typical customer I was neglected by the sales associates. Isn't it their job to assist the customer. Honestly most of the staff there is helpful however idk of their parts suck or what but after having a computer I built entirely from their store it did not work so I brought it in and they charged $40 just to take a look at it. After running tests for about a week they found out THEIR ssd that I bought from them just like the rest of the computer was broke. Okay fine. Just replace it and let's be done. Nope they said they fixed it and it'll be $60. Never asked if I wanted it installed. Because that's why they're charging $60 for it. Just said the computers done it'll be $60 and come pick it up. I tried to tell the manager that this is bs. I bought a part from them one week ago and it was broke the moment I tried to use it. She blew me off and said I should've told him not to install it. Even tho he (matt) never once asked if I want it installed for a damn $60. I could have easily done it myself but they didn't want to even ask. So after spending $1000 there for the computer I had to spend an additional $100 to fix a problem caused by their deficient parts. Thanks. Great work guys. I really want to like MicroCenter. Unfortunately, I have never had a good experience with online ordering and in-store pickup. I recently ordered a monitor that the website states there are 10+ in stock at the Madison Heights location. Within 15 minutes or so, I get an email telling me my reservation is cancelled due to the item being out of stock. The email says I can call the store if I have questions regarding the email. However, when I try to call the store and choose the option for pricing and availability, the automated message tells me that the website is the only way to get up to the minute pricing and availability. When I try to reach a live person, I remain on hold indefinitely with a message stating that the only way to get pricing and availability is through the website. I had to re-order and then finally received an email stating that my reservation is ready to pick up. Don't understand why I have to go through all this just to reserve an item that shows "in-stock". Hopefully, I won't drive all the way down to the store and be told it isn't available. Guess I'll take the chance. read more

Let me tell you what an unbelievable ripoff this store is. All I needed was to replace a video card. I had all the parts ready, the card just needed to be switched ( a 5 minute job). They were charging $60, 3 times as much as most other places, and had a 2 hour wait. This is unacceptable. Best buy even agreed to do it for 40. Went elsewhere for 20. Don't believe the hype. Microcenter is a rip off and there are no good deals, worst deal ever and very upset they are just taking people's money like this. The place I had it done at was also appalled microcenter is charging 60 dollars to replace a video card and asking the customer to leave the pc for 2 hours. Let me tell you, I will NEVER comply with this and will do everything in my power to convince every single person I know who has shopped at microcenter before to just get all their parts from newegg. He helped me pick out each individual part, even offered to help build it. He also ran a really helpful computer page on facebook and helped us figure out all the problems with our build. I tried on multiple occasions to have them do a custom build computer for me. Talked to a guy, had a few back and forth emails, and then he just stopped all communication. I called the store and waited on hold for 50+ minutes. When I explained the situation, they asked me if I wanted to work with the same person that was "helping" me before to which I said "obviously not". They sent me over to a different custom build rep. He said that he was very busy that day but if I could email him the specs of what I was looking for, he would take a look the next day. I sent him the email, he emailed me back to let me know he received the info and would work on it the next day. 5 days later I had still never heard from him. I sent 5-6 emails with no response. I called the store, waited on hold about 10 minutes. I asked for a manager and was told that none were available but one would call me back within the hour. 4 hours later, I receive a call from microcenter and rather than a manager, I get called from a sales person trying to see if he can still sell me a computer. I never received contact from a manager. For anyone that wants a custom build, try Eggheads in Lake Orion. They were definitely on top of things and I'm glad Microcenter dropped the ball so badly or I never would have found them. read more

She had a list of features that she had set her heart on, and we were waited on by Joe Niemiec who was knowledgeable, respectful of all our questions, and patient with our thorough review of products available at MicroCenter in Madison Heights, MI. My designer was able to choose the machine of her dreams. I not only stayed within the budget I had set, I had enough left over to purchase a bulletproof service plan that seemed like a good bet since our designer has a three year old that occasionally 'helps' us in the office. I can't say a whole lot more than others have already said. Prices are okay. They have a very nice selection of products. The salesmen are always helpful and friendly. I have been there many times and have never noticed anyone being lazy. However, they do a huge volume of business and I always always have to wait for assistance or long line for the checkout. I do not understand this. With their poor service, I wonder why there isn't another computer store nearby? Goodness knows we have tons of grocery stores and dollar stores! read more

I thought I had a virus in my laptop. I took it to the tech support center and as the tech was explaining he flipped over my laptop and turned it around and scratched it! You could hear the scratches on the surface. Not once but twice he did this. When I flipped it back over you could clearly see the scratches on the cover. When I told him he just scratched it he asked me if I was sure they werent there before. I was stunned. I told him they were not and he barely apologized. I told him he needs to more careful and gathered my stuff. Needless to say what he told me to do (reinstall the original software) was not needed and I was able to correct the problem myself. Now I will always have a reminder of the scratches on my laptop and never go back. It's also frustrating to stand in line if you were to purchase an item. Not worth it. read more

Madison Hts. store ~ I have never had a problem here. The employees have always been helpful, as well as customer services. Repair prices can run high, but they explain the cost involved right up front. I have even received tips on what I could do to fix something on my own ~ which didn't cost me a dime, and worked when I used their info! It has everything you want or need, especially for a ex-CompTIA A+ certified person like me. However the customer service is lacking a lot! For instance there's almost nobody with a certificate or degree in the computer repair department (personally I've tried getting hired by them in the past through the site, and then have gone next day asking if they got my resume and nobody knew they were hiring... It always sez "now hiring" out in front when pulling in) and they don't know what they're doing. My mom took her computer in and they said they would back some files up on a flash drive she had to pay for, and when we got a call saying it was backed up... there was nothing on the flash drive. Then there's the BYO / fix-it yourself area and everything is everywhere. Like there's aisles yet most things are usually in the place they should be. I've needed 2 HDD for my mom's PC from there 2 times within a span of 1 year, and they were bought "refurbished" and the 1st time the guy couldn't find the part until I kept asking him 5 times to check the back, and the 2nd time the HDD was on the shelf opened in the anti static bag. What I find funny is how much companies like this throw around the word "refurbished" because to them it means a used, never been touched product they bought. Their "new" stuff is always a old computer that actually has been refurbished. When companies like Costco, Best Buy, Office Depot, and of course here at Microcenter do this garbage; it makes me sick. read more
