Forget Best Buy and their small, overpriced selection of computers and accessories. My boyfriend LOVE this place-- he's a Network Engineer, and this is like his 2nd home. He has dreams about it, and when we were looking for a new place to live he kept suggesting the 14 Mile and John R area.. I couldn't figure out WHY, until he finally gave me an excited look and proclaimed "Proximity to Micro Center!!" Sadly, he was denied. Considering he used to drive out from Ann Arbor on a weekly basis "just to browse" (which really meant he'd be coming home with $400 of stuff he didn't even need), being 15 mins away is certainly close enough! They are basically a warehouse of computer parts... from hard drives to motherboards to keyboards to video cards... you name it, they have it. All in mass quantities too-- that's how they keep the prices so competitive and low! Big thumbs up! read more

Feeding my Husband's inner geek, we come here pretty often. I appreciate the ins and outs of technology and computers, but this place brings it to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. A more toned down and less invasive Best Buy, this place in my opinion is better because they carry the nuts and bolts of computer building. You can pretty much find everything you need to build your own PC. The variety though, isn't as diverse, compared to some electronic stores. However, the quality and variety are still good. :) Prices are definitely competitive with Best Buy, and decent customer service. Their selection of laptop computers and flat screen monitors are good, but their TV section could definitely be improved to compete more with them. Overall, a good local place to browse and pick up and odds and ends for your computer. read more

Decent prices, phenomenal selection, great stock of inventory. My *only* drawback to this place is that because of those three things, the lines can get ridiculously long. Popped in on a Sunday due to a failed power supply on a home desktop, and I walked in, found exactly what I needed at a great price in about 90 seconds between "walked in front door" and "had item in hand that I wanted". I then spent thirty minutes in line waiting to check out. That was less than optimal. Candidly, if it weren't for the fact that this was the system my kids play games on all of the time (and neither "extended downtime" or "play on daddy's" are acceptable options) I would've walked out, ordered it online and waited. It's not like the prices are THAT over the top awesome, and if you have the time to wait for something to arrive, Newegg or other online retailers can typically beat them price-wise. read more

Knowing I can buy something and if it doesn't work out, I can bring it back with confidence. This is the place to go to if you are technologically knowledgeable and need a particular tool or accessory or if you are looking for deep discounts at sale time on a pricey electronic item. Sadly, it's probably the only place left in the area where you are almost sure to find what you need in modifying, repairing, or building your own electronic component. The reason it's sad is that customer service is pretty much non-existent. I think that I had posted another review when I started using Yelp which must have gotten low scores or something for saying that but it really is true. When the store first opened, customer service was amazing. You'd go in and there would be two or three people greeting you within seconds. Now I'm almost afraid to ask someone a question as it seems like no one has time for you using you pre-commit to buying a $1500 TV or laptop. Then they will have time for you. Years ago I bought two laptops from here. On both occasions the salespeople went out of their way to speak with me and on both occasions I did not compare prices - I just bought because customer service was outstanding. In the last year, customer service has been pretty bad. Microcenter also used to be great at having very low prices compared to competitors. In the last year, I haven't noticed any great deals on items of interest to me (they do have good deals but it seems like they are only on items that are of interest to a specific audience). Anyway, I get that things are based on commission but customer service would make a big difference in improving the score of my review. read more

Micro Center is my go-to place whenever my technology malfunctions or decides to die on me. Their prices are the best in our area and it is very easy to pick up a replacement part or hack something together using their wide selection of parts and pieces. For example, my daughter spilled Kool Aid on my laptop while my mother was using it. I thought it was a little spill and then noticed my keyboard was no longer functioning. I headed over to Micro Center and picked up a neat litle USB keyboard for 15 bucks. Unfortunately, my computer didn't survive the Kool Aid incident and I did the best I could trying to save it, but I will very soon be heading over to Micro Center to purchase a new computer while I am at it. read more

Man I used to love this place. I used to tell all my friends to come here and would buy everything from here, I would wait until I came home from school to buy something simple like an Ethernet cord. But no longer, they've changed their customer care policy. The tech guys in the back are awesome but the managers and cashiers are money grabbers. They wouldn't take my return when I had a warranty. Very unlike the micro center I loved. Sad that when money got tight they decided to hurt the customers. I paid for a warranty because they convinced me even if it's damaged they're cool and will take the return. I simply did not have the charger for my $250 speaker, they wouldn't grab a simple charger or let me replace it, couldn't even help me order one from the supplier. RIP micro Center going out of business here soon. The employees are awesome the managers have ruined it. read more

MC is a great place for all your computer needs. They have a wide selection of Mac's, PC's, hard drives (internal/external), fax machines, bla bla bla.... From my experiences they have a much wider selection and cheaper, than say Best Buy. Case in point.....MacBook $799 opposed to $999 at BB, IWORK software $75 opposed to $80 and lastly my 250 gb external hard drive was $65 instead of $80. If you're looking to get something, say like an ipod, on the cheap they do sell refurbished ones. Oh and to make your shopping experience even more convenient, you can order online and they guarantee the product will be ready for pick up in 18 minutes. They do work on commission and really push for service plans so be ready for that used car sales person mentality when you walk in the door. You'll be asked who helped you when you go to the cash register so the sales person gets credited. MC's return policy is sorta shitty comparing it to other big box stores so my advice is to know what you are buying before you buy it. They also have a service and repair department but they only do "in house". So if you're looking for them to come to your house and set up a new wireless network call someone else. To sum it up...great selection, great prices..just know what you want before you go so they don't talk you into what you don't need..... read more

I honestly don't know what could be better than this store. Honestly, fellow tech's are jealous because I live close enough to this place to take advantage of their prices on a lot of other items they would normally pay and arm and a leg for at one of those 'yellow tag' retailers. Their selection is by far the best you will ever see... they have products galore, and for any type of an electronics guru... you're in peripheral heaven as soon as you walk in the door. If you need help, there is always personnel wandering around wanting to get their commission sticker on your product, so its never too long until you're helped. Their return policy here is also very good. I have not found one thing that they've had issue working with me on when I had a couple of parts fail due to manufacturing defects. Mac's... PC's... tablets... laptops... etc. You'll find everything your little electronic loving heart will ever desire here. (And a bunch of people that know a lot about that stuff there too!) read more

Since I am a died in the wool Nerd (note the caps), I have been shopping here since it opened and I visit often. One of my buddies was looking for a wireless presenter remote to use with his notebook computer when he does PowerPoint presentations at remote locations and nobody is there to help him change the slides. So we set off to go to Micro Center and got there before they opened. So to kill time we looked at the same kind of products at a couple of places. We went to an Office Max and also to an Office Depot. Both of these places had two or three devices to choose from and none of the ones we looked at had the right mix of features. So we went back to Micro Center. As expected, they had a huge assortment, competitive prices and the one my friend selected had exactly the features he wanted. Micro Center has it all; big selection, good prices, helpful staff and plenty of inventory. Now I would have given this place 5 stars, but the prices, while good, are not as others have said; as cheap as mail order. They are not. Of course, mail order places don't have the overhead that a store like this one has. So that doesn't surprise me. So, I felt compelled to make the rating 4 stars. None the less, compared to Best Buy and other Office places and compared to small computer shops, the prices are great. This really is the best computer place in our area. read more

From someone who is not a computer nerd, I guess this store is pretty ok. Things are organized so that the non-techie can find them easily, and there are employees around so that you can ask questions if necessary. What a perfectly awful way to end an awful year. We've been trying to get a product from Micro Center for weeks. We check the stock online, we call to confirm that's accurate. We can't buy it online or pay ahead of time though we're willing to. And once again get there today to stand in a mile long line wrapped around the building in a 23° windchill for over an hour to get inside and be told; they don't have it, they haven't had it, their online inventory is always wrong and that "the home center number that handles their calls is notorious for telling people whatever they need to hear to get them in the door." They then proceeded to try and sell me a more expensive model that was twice the price. This company is so downright detestable that they should be investigated. What kind of soulless organization sends people out into the freezing cold during a pandemic, risking infection and super spreading just to get them in the door of their store to attempt to up sell them on something else... read more

When my computer passed away, I was heartbroken. I loved that computer. But before I could finish reciting the last rites, I needed a replacement. Fortunately, there are places like micro center. There were several reasonably priced replacements, and I found one pretty quickly. The price was right. Also, there is an extensive selection of computer accessories and other electronics, with lots of good deals. One star off, though, for the salespeople. As I browsed the computers, I saw them taking advantage of customer after customer. I understand that this is the nature of sales, but when the customers are 2 old ladies buying a computer for a church group, or a grandmother buying one for her grandson as a high-school graduation present, sleazy sales tactics and dishonesty are pretty reprehensible. And for some strange reason they would call the floor manager over after every sale, and he would try to shake your hand. What a terrible kind of handshake! It felt an awful lot like buying a used car. But the computer deals make all of this other nonsense worth it, I think. read more

This place is awesome for so many reasons... well 2. First the prices cannot be beat! The salesmen will do whatever they can to get you lowest price around. My story - I needed a new laptop to help me with my job search. Since I was between jobs, I didn't have a lot of money. I go to Microcenter and the salesman quoted me such an incredible deal that I went home to scramble together my savings to buy my stand-in computer. Well 2 days later, I went back, requested my guy but the computer had been sold. The salesman was able to get me a comparable laptop for the same price that I am still using and loving 4 months later. Second reason: The Service. 3 Weeks after my purchase, I went on a job interview to Pittsburgh. I took the laptop in my briefcase and everything was dandy until I got home and found that the screen was cracked and useless. I took it back to the store. Even though I was 2 days outside of the store warranty that did not cover breakage, the customer service team helped me to get a new screen free of charge. They had no obligation to do that, but they did it anyway. I am so grateful that they helped me out and made my laptop good as new... again! read more

This place seems to be crazy busy all the time so if you go pack your patience. I went in to purchase an iPad mini 3; they're prices are lower than all their competitors. This was my third time in the store (once was with my Dad buying his desktop), I had been shopping around for a couple weeks. I decided on the 64 GB device for added storage and noticed the price had gone up $70 since my last visit a week ago. The sales rep wasn't too helpful, although they are paid on commission and he was the one that told me the prices never really changed. I almost walked out without purchasing out of frustration but decided to just speak with a manager. Spoke with store manager Cathy who was amazingly kind and honored the price I was quoted my previous visit. Cathy turned my experience around and I left a happy customer. Thanks Cathy! I am reviewing base on the service I received today on 12/20/14 from the Internet Pick-Up department. To summarize what happen, there was no customer service and I was treated poorly due to the color of my skin. Two Caucasian customers in-front of me was given fair treatment with their orders, but when it was my turn, the women and man handling the front registers there, had gave me a hard time. I was simply asking to pick up an order I place at home (showing them the confirmation e-mail). Not only was my order not there, I was told to go the floor and find it myself and wait in line again. I had already waited 10 minutes and now I have to wait again. I attempted to ask if they could get it, but was denied immediately. The product I was picking up had cost $5.00 only. They are being paid to do their jobs however, I left the store feeling judged and disrespected. I wasted 35 minutes of my time for racial discrimination. In addition to my story, the woman handling my request had the nerves to tell me "Happy Holidays" as I left. The man working aside her just gave a slight chuckled. This is not the first time I was treated unfairly and denied. The incident today had me quite outraged that the result is writing a review for others to read. read more

I have to tip my hat to Micro Center for having a little more specialized niche that would not be typically found in this part of Michigan. I am a photographer and my digital photography needs are a little too specialized for Office Max or Best Buy or Staples. After Adray Camera had closed its doors, whenever I am in a crunch (especially for time) I go to Micro Center and they will almost always have what I am looking for. The big thing for me is the price. I am a big fan of ordering out of a well-established photography store in NYC for all my camera needs -- film or digital -- and I STILL always go to them so in this respect, I think I am a little spoiled as far as their much more competitive pricing goes. I guess Micro Center made me realize the VALUE of TIME especially in terms of money. If I do NOT have the time for things to get shipped from NYC to my place, then I will go to Micro Center. read more

Laptops for less than $300 Desktops for less than $100 Spend more, and you get nicer stuff of course, but if you wanna get cheap stuff at decent quality, these are your guys. I absolutely love Micro Center. Their prices are great and even rival NewEgg. It's great local computer store that also has an amazing web presences. And you can't beat their prices on flash media. Just walk up to the counter & grab a SD card or Flash drive...they're fast (class 6) and dirt cheaper. Everything about these store screams quality & value. On the negative side, the store is big but extremely cramped. It's like they crammed everything under the sun into the place. But heck, at the prices they charge, I can deal with that. read more

I needed replacement cord for my tiny laptop. They didn't have my exact cord. Apparently, MicroCenter swore that a different dell model cord would work. ... it seemed to work. Receipt lost. After a month, it stopped letting it charge the battery. After calling Dell direct, they said MicroCenter was totally wrong and I could've damaged my laptop. If they don't have exactly what you want, call the manufacturer, get the exact part number. Order from manufacturer direct, Amazon etc. Lesson learned. read more

They are the best. I don't know why they don't have 5 stars. Everyone is knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. The store is large and busy. I can see why, the service is top notch and not all retail and up selling. My brother, who is in IT has always given them his business and now he has turned me on to this store. And again the kindness and politeness of the staff, even in nasty weather and a full on crowd scene was top notch. My doctor needed surface Pros for our new software and when she showed me the Amazon page of what she was buying, we checked here and the price was much better, so she bought two. I have been going here on and off for a number of years. I only go when I can't find what I need anywhere else. Customer service is terrible, they stand around talking and laughing with each other. I went in June 26,2021 to get a keyboard for for my MacBook Pro, I asked for help and the guy said anyone of them would work. After looking and reading the box's, he shows back up to slap his sticker on the box even tho he did not help me. Needless to say I put that box back and got another one. I have watched them stand there and make sure anyone of non-color has and understands everything before moving on. With me, I am of color (I can only speak for myself) they are short and quick rather I understand or not. If they are helping a non-color person and I'm standing where they need to be I'd get pushed out the way while they explain to that customer everything about what they are looking for. If something has to be taken up front with their sticker on it, I would tell the cashier not to give credit to that person because they did not help me. read more

I go here for all my mac related accessories and I bought my last iMac here. The only thing I don't like is the line is always crazy busy no matter what time of year. I like that you can order on line and within 18 minutes your order is usually ready for pick up and it's a much smaller line and shorter wait if you order in advance. Prices are comparable to other computer stores. On one visit I was looking for good computer speakers that I could play my music on, I like it very loud. The customer service rep told me that Klipsch were the ones the Apple store used and that they didn't sell them but I could get them at Best Buy. I was impressed that they weren't afraid to tell me that they didn't have something and where I could go get them. I did get the speakers from Best Buy and I continue to shop here for the rest of my computer needs. I was also surprised that the manager was a woman with a large chest tattoo and they didn't make her cover it up. I should say I was pleasantly surprised since so many people have tattoos now, I'm glad they aren't living in the dark ages. She was very friendly and was available to greet customers and answer questions. read more

THE TRUTH.....dun dun dun... I am not a very techie person, install RAM or find old drivers or even set up a network but that is about it. I really like this place. I have been going there for years. ALL STAFF have been very helpful with ALL questions. Usually good deals (that is why 4 and not 5 stars, if you shop around there are always deals online). I have bought computers, RAM, video cards, keyboards, etc...good deals and always were stocked. The only real bad negative is at Xmas time or during Black Friday....super long lines. I know gpus are in high demand right now but that doesn't excuse the fact that the business doesn't have a phone number I can call to see if an item is in stock. They send you to call center that has the same info as website which they say is updated every 10 minutes but that is a lie. For the first time - I'm VERY disappointed in this Micro Center. I bought an ASRock Pro4 motherboard and while the product works well, the M.2 wifi feature doesn't exist. You have to buy a M.2 Key E card for the board. I went back to Micro Center a few days later while on business in the area (I live 80 miles away) and when I asked about the M.2 Key E card (I wanted to buy one) the salesman was clueless. CLUELESS. He left to check and came back and said he didn't think they sold it. I'd be best to look for it online. Really? I guess I should buy all of my gear online from now on. No one would help me figure out if my credit card was still active. Had to apply for another one. Told me repeatedly it was closed automatically after one year of no use. Strict policy that I fill out a paper credit application and then run my drivers license through a scanner. It would not read a magnetic strip on my license. Manager and staff repeatedly told me there is nothing they can do. I've had credit with this place since it opened here. I like the financing options. You have created a point of failure in your customer experience. I cannot get credit with you until I go to the Secretary of State and get a new license first because of a policy. And no other alternative. Make me feel like bullshit in front of my kids. Waited in line. The cashier Nathan let me run my card to see. It had been almost 2 years but he said try it anyway. Have used Microcenter service and sales numerous times because they tend to have everything you need right on hand. They are 35 minutes from my house so not exactly the closest place to go. Needed some data saved and the tech recommended I purchase a Flash drive (microcenter brand), save the data, then wipe the hard drive. Paid for the drive and data saving almost $150. Did not use flash drive for 10 months, not once! Go to transfer the pictures that were on the drive and irreplaceable, the data transfer starts and then craps out 2 minutes in. Drive is now unreadable. Go back to microcenter today and they basically tell me they can recover it for $400, the drive is under warranty but my data isn't. And because everyone's data has a different value they decided that their 3rd party company is ok to charge $400 for their garbage USB not working. This place is all about quantity and no quality. The techs/repair team/mgrs. in that area just don't give a crap because they have 10 people in line behind you that they need to get to, so you're a number and not a person with a legit problem. No attempt to even offer up a solution except pay up or shut up. Have fun standing in line for 20 minutes and not getting your problem handled, and then enjoy that drive home down 14 mile road with more potholes than Microcenter has excuses. read more

Recommended by Genius Bar technician after my MacBook Pro crashed and required a new hard drive but since it is considered "vintage", Apple won't service it. Micro Center staff were helpful with helping pick out a new drive and then not only replace it but retrieved and reloaded all my data. I had my computer running like new within 3 days. This review is for the repair center only. I bought my son a Dell Laptop from here about 2 and a half years ago. Recently some of the keys stopped working and I called their repair center and spoke to Robert, one of their techs. He quickly looked up the old order and found my computer and told me the part was $40 and the labor would be $30, for a total of $70. Sounded great; told him I'd be there later that day. We get to the counter and a service rep tells me it will be $70 for the part, $130 for the labor, and they STRONGLY recommended a $40 diagnostics for a total of $240. Over 3 times the amount quoted on the phone! Total bait and switch! I asked to speak to Robert. He came out and reconfirmed the amount ($240) and told me that he looked up the wrong computer and that this one was harder to open the case. Sounded fishy to me (that's code for B.S.) He then, out of pure generosity, offered to walk back to the laptop section and help me pick out a new laptop. No thank you and I left. I took it to G-Force Computer Repair in Warren. They fixed it for $110 out the door and had it done in two days. read more

Wall to wall a Nerd's Disneyland! Microcenter has every single piece you need to build a PC and/or any computer set up. I've never been to a store that specialized in computers this heavily. The staff is very knowledgeable and there's always deals in every department. I have gotten warranties over the years for lap top computers and tablets! I can honestly say this place has always replaced or fixed with no questions asked! My husband and I went there during this craziness and I was so impressed! There's a line but they are completely organized! They ask what you need and if you need help! Called to ask manager a question about using a coupon that arrived in my mailbox already expired. Customer service person said they would send a message to the manager to call me back. Ended up calling twice, and the manager never returned my phone call. Place was great when it first opened, but now it's a disaster. And now it gets a -10 for customer service too... So much for trying to give a local business my money. No wonder people shop on Amazon and Newegg! read more
