A great spot right in my hometown. We were with a group of 12 at 6pm. Prime dinner time which meant parking wasn't that great because they share a lot with other businesses. I had to drive around the lot and wait for a space. Our group Had a private room with a sliding door. The waitresses were very accommodating and super nice!! Appetizer biscuits - Came out warm and the butter to pair was excellent. Salad - Very tasty. The leaves were very large and they only give a small cup of ranch. Yes you can ask for more. Dinner - Grilled Salmon to perfection along with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The pimiento cheese spread and the classic chicken salad are scrumptious - both are great on sandwiches! We've tried the various breads and cakes - all have been delicious as are the chicken pies and crunchy chicken entrees. My wife and I stopped in here for lunch with our young granddaughter. It was our first visit. The place is quite large with a lot of seating. It also has several banquet rooms. There were very few people there at the time of our visit due to the time of day, so we pretty much had our choice of where to sit The way it works is that you order at the cashier when you enter and pay when you order. You then bring a number to your table, and they bring your food to you. I had a grilled chicken salad. My wife had a Reuben sandwich. Both were delicious, but I'm getting the sandwich next time . Our granddaughter is only 15 months old, so my wife gave her some of the sandwich. The server brought out multiple packages of crackers for our granddaughter as well, which was really appreciated. The food was prepared very well. If the service was exceptional and we were well taken care of. It's not the cheapest place, though. Our 2 meals and drinks (soda) cost around $45 after all was said and done. However, we were happy to pay the price, and the meal and experience were worth it. read more

I've been meaning to try Michelle's since moving to Burlington in February and I finally did this week. I purchased things from their case to reheat at home; the crunchy chicken casserole, a slice of quiche and a slice of the pecan pie. ALL were delicious and I will definitely be back! Someone brought us a meal fromMichelle's Kitchen and Table. Wow! They brought us the chicken pie and the chocolate chess pie. We cooked the chicken pie per the instructions ensuring that we had a crispy crust on the pie. Fantastic!!! The crust was amazing!!! It was the best chicken pie I've ever had. We're fairly new to NC and understand that chocolate chess pie is a special NC treat. I've tried it a couple of times before and didn't understand why it was a big deal. I wasn't impressed. Michelle's chocolate chess pie changed all that. THIS chocolate chess pie is special! THIS is what North Carolinians are thinking about when they think Chocolate Chess Pie. 1. Terrible cosmopolitan. Too much cranberry juice and not much of anything else. 2. Bacon on cheese burger is "thick cut" and, although delicious by itself, it made biting through the hamburger near impossible. Bun was wimpy and too small for the burger. Hamburger not properly seasoned, too dense and dry. Pimento cheese did not add much to the burger. 3. Fries were standard bland frozen fry. Supposed to be truffle fries but completely flavorless. 4. Texas sheet cake: complete misnomer. 1/4 inch of dry, crumbly, brownie-like "cake" with 3/4 inch gritty chocolate fudge "icing". 5. Ambiance: nonexistent: open kitchen door, constant grinding, pounding chopping sounds. 6. fried chicken on the chicken sandwich was very good but the wimpy, too small bun did not support the robust breast And fries were extra cost. read more

What a nice find in Burlington! Our waitress Gaby was delightful! She was very attentive and gave great service. My husband and I both had the Fall Apple salad which was perfect. I loved how the Apple slices were cut small to make it easy to eat. I then had the Pan Seared Duck Breast with a cranberry Maple Apricot glaze. The duck was cooked perfectly. They also have private rooms for groups. Will come again for sure ! Update: we came back the very next day because it was so good! My husband had the pork tenderloin with sashes sweet potatoes and collared greens. The collared greens were fantastic. He loved the onion fig thing that came with it. I had the brisket that was fabulous, but I didn't like the celery slaw. (Allergy) But as all good restaurants do they gladly swapped it out and I was very happy. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes to go with my dish and it was unique in that it had small bits of potatoes. Was not over mashed so it felt very homemade. Perfect flavor. My daughter had the gnocchi which she didn't like as much cause the sauce was a little too runny. Not a strong enough pesto. But overall this is a MUST visit restaurant! Went to a Michelle's for the first time today for lunch. Tried the Reuben sandwich and a Turkey and cheddar. The Reuben was excellent with a substantial amount of meat. The sauerkraut was not too tart. The turkey and cheddar had fig jam, slices of apple and a little onion. Wonderful mix of textures and flavors that worked well together. Service was excellent and helpful since this was my first visit. They also had a large number of side dishes and entrees that could be purchased frozen or refirerated to go. A constructive feedback.. The food and ambiance is exceptional. All the workers are highly friendly and enthusiastic, except the cashier who enters your order into the system. I've been there multiple times already but unfortunately that person always has an attitude. For the last two times (including today) I'm getting a salad for my lunch and asking for an extra chicken which I'm always willing to pay for. However even though I get charged, I never receive the extra. Also, blaming the kitchen for the mistake when you enter wrong on the ticket in first place is not helpful for the business. Took several of my daughter's friends here for dinner. The place was empty- we were the only table we could see on a Saturday night. They didn't have the wine I ordered from the menu, then they couldn't make the mixed drink I asked for which did not start me in the best mood. The food was fine, but not fantastic. We started with the fried Pimento cheese which was delicious! Then I had pork loin which was raw in the center (fortunately the end pieces were cooked through so I ate those). All the girls had burgers, which they seemed to enjoy. The Mac & cheese that comes with the pork loin was just noodles- if there was any cheese there I couldn't taste it. Likewise the truffle fries with the burgers were just... fries. There was no truffle flavor to speak of. Overall, it was an expensive mediocre meal. We have eaten lunch here and also purchased numerous items to take home to heat. We decided to try one of the Thursday evening "Take & Bake" meals. It was $30 plus tax, so we expected it to be really good. The entre' was beef brisket and it was full of fat and if you did get any meat, it was very tough and chewy. The molasses baked beans were very good. It had "old-fashioned" potato salad. The only flavor I could discern was dill - and lots of it. If it was "old-fashioned", it was before my time and I'm in my 80's! Then, we had Carolina slaw. I've had lots of Carolina slaw, but this was nothing like I had ever had before. Lots of big chunks/slices of cabbage, some carrots, and very little dressing. All I could taste was the cabbage. We were very disappointed. If I go back, it will be for my old stand-bys. I witnessed the owner and another older woman berate and threaten to fire a younger female employee in the middle of lunch. I was appalled at the behavior towards an employee that I consistently have good experiences with. That 45 second interaction broke my heart.
