Micha's is my favourite Mexican restaurant anywhere. The salsa is awesome, the carne asada burros are like no other. (And I've been trying to find something even close in PHX.. no luck...nada). As an x-Tucsonan, I miss Michas, where I ate on a weekly basis. However, still I go to Michas every business trip, about once a month. On occasion, I drive the 130 miles to South Tucson just for a GREAT meal. My 2 favorites are the machaca chimichanga and the cheese crisp (quesadilla). The cheese crisp is really crispy because they start with a deep fried flour tortilla. Loads of cheese is added and rebaked. To die for! Service is prompt, chips are hot, and salsa is muy picante! South Tucson has multiple, excellent Mexican food restaurants.....but Michas is my favorite. read more

Walking into Micha's you can tell that this is a family business. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and you can feel the cultural influences throughout. As I only ordered takeout, I did not get to experience what full service is like. My experience was quick and easy, I didn't feel much of a connection, but I also didn't feel uninvited. I do think the prices were a little high for the amount of food I was given. Most places I wouldn't mind paying almost $14 for this food, but the overall flavor wasn't as great as I expected. It was good, but it wasn't the best I've had. The beans and rice were very tasty, but the actual fajitas didn't have a lot of flavor. The guacamole really made the dish pop, so I highly encourage mixing that in. While I don't feel I grossly overpaid, I do feel it was a little high for the quality. My wait for my food did not take long, maybe 10 minutes, but this might be due to the decrease in dine-in customers due to COVID-19. This is a place I would return to, but I would just probably be ordering differently. I've heard from other people that they love their food, so I'm excited to try other things on the menu. They have an extensive menu that doesn't feel overwhelming, which is great for a restaurant with a set menu. Overall, I had a good experience and I would recommend this place to others. It's great that this is a family business that still focuses on traditional foods. I give Micha's a 3.5 out of 5 stars. read more

As a Tucson native and no spring chicken, I feel I'm experienced enough to rate Mexican restaurants in town. I have tried many, and find Micha's to be mostly good, solid Sonoran fare. HOWEVER -- their seasonings on some dishes are not quite top-notch in my opinion and -- yes, I'm a food snob -- when I find fat or Unidentifiable Foodlike Objects in my carne seca or carne asado or machaca, I am not a happy camper. Micha's failed in this regard and I'm permanently grossed-out. Tucson has some great Mexican Restaurants -- go to one of them instead. read more

We travel to Tucson and through Tucson a lot heading to Cochise County, and depending on the time of day we either breakfast, lunch or dinner here. Always. It's that good. We like the atmosphere (laid back), the family members running the show, the long-time waitstaff AND the food. Anything is good. Seriously. Breakfast chorizo and eggs, huevos rancheros are good choices, spouse loves their pancakes. I love their refried beans doctored up with their kicky red salsa. Gets a great eclectic mix of patrons which is distinctly Tucsonian, and that's fun too. Live long and prosper MIcha's, we've enjoyed your food for years! read more

Perfect for a cold beer and some mid-spicy, but traditional, Mexican food after spending hours at the Air/Space park in south Tucson. I say the food was traditional because I reside in the Phoenix area and can honestly say I've never found a "great" Mexican restaurant... perhaps it's a fantasy. So... we all loved the salsa with a little extra heat; all four at our table were happy with their food choices. I appreciated the smaller size of the chili relleno plate as opposed to the large platters of the combination plates. Lots of cheese; enchilada sauce was excellent and overall the food was very good. Only drawback was the heavy hand on salt in all the dishes, as previously noted in the reviews. Service was pleasant, attentive and quick for a small dining area; appeared to be family owned. We will visit Micha's on our next outing to Tucson, but you can bet the ladies will be doing some serious shopping versus studying the history of airplanes! read more

Excellent. Sonoran style food. Home cooking for residents of southern Arizona. The service was excellent and quick. Server was very pleasent. Was told by our waiter he was a little occupied when we asked if we could order after being ignored for 45 minutes. Also the waitress who got our drinks constantly stared at us angrily from the corner of the room and looked like we were impositioning her when we raised our hand for a round of water refills. We were a Party of 7 quietly talking and only asking for refills once while waiting to have our order taken. Very disappointed. This is the third time I've had this experience with this duo, having worked in a restaurant previously I always insist everyone treats the wait staff with respect and niceties. But that means nothing here. The food is always good and getting seated is usually quick, that's why I keep coming back but if we're not welcomed, I'm fine with going down the street to one of the competitors and just waiting a few minutes longer to be seated and treated a bit nicer with better service. read more

Traditional, authentic, legit, all words I'd use to describe the food, atmosphere, and experience at Micha's fine Mexican food. The salsa, guacamole, and chips are all super fresh and well worth the extra cost (chips and salsa are only free for the first two bowls). The beans were very creamy and loaded with cheddar cheese. The rice was nice and dry, not sticky or wet, but soft and with a lot of bite. The Carne Asada tacos (soft corn shells) were loaded with lots of lettuce, pico, and more cheddar cheese. The portion of beef was a bit on the light side and not as flavor packed as I would have thought. read more

Such a great experience - hands down the most exceptional service I've ever received. While getting out the car my 3 year old daughter fell and landed face first on the asphalt parking lot. She was crying as the blood was running down her face. My cousin went inside to get some napkins and a restaurant employee (or possibly the owner) responded immediately. He gave a stack of napkins and offered ice for the wound. As we attended to my daughter in the parking lot, this employee came outside with a bag of ice and to offer any assistance. He welcomed us inside the bathroom to clean up and determine if we needed to visit urgent care. While in the bathroom, the employee brought a clean wet towel to aid in cleaning my daughters face. He even brought a band aid. Once the wound was clean and the band aid was applied my daughter calmed down so we decide to continue with our dinner plans and be seated. A server brought us to our table and offered us drinks. With the chips and salsa arriving as we were being seated, I began to think this place is amazing - first helping me with my daughter and now this quick service. Our order was taken and endless chips were delivered. The server was extremely responsive and asked a few times throughout our meal if my daughter was okay. About 15 minutes after being seated, another employee arrived to our table with Neosporin and new band aids. The restaurant had sent an employee to Walgreens to purchase these items for us. I was shocked. I didn't expect the first band aid provided in the bathroom let alone the trip to Walgreens to get additional band aids and ointment. The staff at this restaurant was sincere, responsive and extremely attentive to our situation. Additionally, the chicken flautas were amazing. Shredded white meat chicken rolled in corn tortillas - delicious. The best chicken flautas I've had. To top off this great experience, the original employee (who I believe to be the owner) told us the bill was on him and didn't charge us. We were going to Michas for the excellent food but ended up getting much more than that. This is definitely a restaurant that goes above and beyond for their customers. Negative 5 stars. Service was ok. I ordered carne asada burrito. Meat was obviously not fresh had that dried out old texture to it. Mostly was fat and gristle. The chips and salsa tasted like left over canned salsa. So I asked for pico. Of course it was bad and spoiled. I asked if they had any "real" salsa that I could try to enjoy my burrito. The brought me some taco sauce that tasted worse than jack in the box. Honestly I wouldn't waste my time ever going back. All the people who eat here obviously have never had REAL Mexican food. Not one to write a review,but i must say this restaurant really struck me $35.00 for two bean tostadas one red chili plate rice and beans,one side of rice ,one iced tea, one lemonade half water half lemonade,and a few slices of avocado.The red chili hardly had but a few small pieces of meat very small portions for my liking.The restaurant is always HOTTER than you know what,for the heavy prices they charge, they could at least after 25 years is put a Freakin a/c system on the building,don't you all agree?Last they decide to put their own tip on your bill without leaving it up to you.I sure would like to charge someone 8$ for bringing 3 drinks 2 small plates and one medium plate never ask us if we wanted a refill on our drinks Never even offered a menu to us .And we were sitting right by the kitchen how far did she really have to walk. Almost as good as Mi Nidito with faster service, no wait, and less $'s! Try their green corn tamale, not something you can find at every Mexican restaurant in town. The tamales are served "pure", not fancied-up like at El Charro's. I also loved their enchiladas, albondigas soup (meatballs), tortilla soup as well as cocido soup. They also have a nice selection of Mexican beers, a big plus! I miss Micha's! read more

I came here for breakfast with a friend and our lil kiddos . We felt like a good Mexican breakfast and have been to michas in the past with good expectations of what we were going to get food wise . We were greeted by a waiter and were promptly seated at a booth . Before we could even get comfortable he asked us if we were ready to order . We told him no we haven't even picked up the menu , 5 more minutes he came back we told him we were still browsing the menu , we were still trying to get our children comfortable and situated . He seemed annoyed . He was "everywhere " at one point he was taking our order and saw another table he was attending to and left us to help them . Not only that , I was trying to tell the lady at the register to split our bill . Then she rang it up wrong and her tone of voice wasn't not very pleasant . Maybe if the waiter paid attention to our order I wouldn't have to sit there and tell her exactly what I order it should be on the ticket . Chile relleno-The chile itself was delicious, filled with good white cheese, topped with a little good cheddar. Rice & beans average. Green corn tamales horribly sweet, served with no sauce. Chips and salsa were good. Very nice service. Would come back for the relleno. read more

Micha's catered a family party I had last week. The food was delicious, hot and very appealing. They deliver right to your home and help you set up the food. The price couldn't be beat... Decent food but too expensive. Went there for lunch and service was quick and friendly. But it cost me $20 for a chimi enchilada style with an iced tea. That's including the 9.6% south Tucson sales tax and the 18% tip they tacked on. I wish I could say it was the chimi I've ever had, especially for $20.
