I'm not crafty, not even close to being creative so stepping foot into a Michaels I feel like I'm on a different planet. I'm not exaggerating either. All the staff there was so helpful. I came in looking for stuff to paint my pumpkin. I didn't really know where to start because I've always carved my pumpkins. I know it might sound plain and simple to someone that is reading this but there were so many choices some super expensive some super cheap. I kept walking up and down the aisles looking at all the different brands and brushes and was like ummm what do I get?!! The associate at Michaels pointed me to the acrylic paint section where the bottles were 69 cents! Woohoo then she showed me some spongy looking brushes and gave me some tips on how to paint my pumpkin. Once I got to the register, the lady helping me asked me if I had any coupons and obviously not being a Michaels shopper I didn't. She was like, give me your phone and I will get you some great deals. She used 3 coupons which lowered my total almost 6 bucks. Thank you Michaels for making this experience as a crafty newbie great! I would give 0 stars, but it's not an option. This was the WORST curbside experience I've ever had. First, I text the number listed in the email with my order number, name, and which curbside pickup spot I'm in. I receive no response. Then I wait a few minutes. No response. Then I call. They put me on hold and never come back. Next, I go to the employee standing outside to tell her I'm waiting for a curbside order. She radios in. Still noone. Now there are at least 6 people who arrived AFTER me. The curbside girl finally shows up to take the orders of all the people who arrived after me, but didn't bother to bring my order. I tell her my name. She goes inside, comes back with all of the other customers' orders who arrived after me, but not mine. I give her my name again, she finally brings my order. Overall the curbside pickup feature for this Michael's is useless. I sometimes work in curbside pickup for a different company. I'm shocked by how incompetent the employees who run this at this Michael's location are. The only person who made any effort to help me was the black girl with the afro seated outside. The runner and people answering the phones were useless. To top it all off, I just got home and checked my order. Guess what? It's missing items. This place is a joke. I already didn't want to go to this location, but it was the only one nearby that supposedly had all of my items. This experience has been beyond horrible! I'm contacting corporate. read more

The Michael's store at the District in Tustin is a nice store. I brought some silk prints in to be framed as they were having a great sale. Grace in framing was very helpful while I picked out frames and mat colors. I didn't leave the artwork as the pieces were wrinkled and needed to be pressed. I was told that the store would let me know when the frames were in so I could bring back the art for the actual framing. I was never called. I called to check and of course the frames were in. When I dropped off the frames I got to meet Bill. He was very nice and helpful. Tonight I picked up my framed artwork. Andi was very nice and the silks and matting look beautiful! Except once I got home, unwrapped them and looked close, one of the frames had some damage. I called right away and Andi suggested I wait until tomorrow to bring it back as the manager will be in. So I will be going back tomorrow. I will update my review with the resolution. The good: Professional framing is the way to go when you value what you are framing. I usually shop at this Michael's when I can't find what I need at Target. I was here last week to buy some super glue and decoration pens for shirts. The warehouse is hugeeee so they have a really big selection on everything! I wish they had more sales associates. I couldn't find any to help me look for the stuff I needed so I ended up walking around the store, just browsing. Also, there were only 2 registers open so we had to wait in line for a while. I love shopping at Michaels in store and online. Unfortunately, at this location at 2807 Park Ave, Tustin, they have the worst store manager. This review is for custom framing. I ordered a custom mat for an oddly sized diploma. Customer service was fine. I wanted a double-edge mat (if that's what it's called), but it was pricey so I opted for the single-edge on a white mat (they didn't have an off-white colors to match the current mat). Oh well, I thought. The employee help me find a discount to bring my price down a good 60% and though it cost me much more than I expected, I left the store feeling pretty happy about the convenience of the whole process. He estimated that it'd be complete on Monday (3-4 business days). On Tuesday I received a call that it was ready for pick up. When I saw the product, I was extremely disappointed. There were large, noticeable cuts from overcutting the inside corners. My diploma was placed crooked within the frame. There were dark fingerprints on the white mat. I've cut mats in my three years of photography classes and knew that the cuts on the inside corners should be precise. The Michael's employee who helped me during pick-up agreed that it wasn't done properly and that they'd redo it and give me a call when it was ready. That was 8 business days ago and I had not received a phone call. I called to inquire if it was available for pick up. The employee said he'd look for my item, but then I was placed on hold for 20 minutes. I gave up and hung up. When I stopped by the store about an hour later, an employee was in the process of cutting the mat (it appeared they had forgotten about it and my call prompted service). There was smaller, but still noticeable, overcutting on the corners. I was told that this was the best that could be done, though from my experience cutting mats, I knew this was untrue. At this point I just wanted my frame, so I said thank you. Unhappy with the poor quality of work. Next time, I'll go to a different framing store for more mat color options and a quality product. read more

Its in the worst part of the District possible, right near the entrance of the District parking lot where the Costco Gas lets out. Parking is really busy - lots of traffic. The store is a good sized store, although a lot of things are misplaced and in the wrong area. Theres a whole lot of merchandise as you enter the store, so much so I have to say its a little cramped. I've been going to michaels for a very very very long time and I've always been self sufficient but I did ended up needing help last week. I'll have to say, Amanda is one of the very best employees hands down. She was helping me with a ton of enthusiasm and I remember thinking to myself that she must be a manager. Turns out she was and her CS really showed it. Honestly every employee should model to be like her. I'm pretty sure that's her name, I'll have to look back on my receipt. I obnoxiously ordered a 48" by 60" canvas because it was on sale for 60$ and I have a small car. The store manager brought the massive canvas out to my car for me and she was so kind and helpful. She was also calm and patient with me while I'm clearly ditzy and had no idea how I was going to take the massive canvas home. I was truly blown away by her customer service because I feel like a lot of times employees just wouldn't care. She truly went above and beyond in helping me. She offered to help me bring the canvas to my car and then when she realized the canvas wouldn't fit into my car, she offered an idea to strap it down with some rope. She sold me some rope and then HELPED ME STRAP THE CANVAS TO MY CAR! NO EMPLOYEE HAS GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND LIKE THAT. Whoever the store manager is on April 18th at 12:00 PM, she is amazing. Even her makeup is amazing! Sadly I didn't get her name. But I think that's the type of customer service people should strive for and she is doing such an amazing job. She is incredibly caring and sweet and kind to her customers, which meant a lot to me. I ended up getting my massive canvas home in one piece because of her (Check out the pic)! I first visited the store a year ago. The Asian clerk was very rude and I thought he was Racist. SO to give a second chance I went in to exchange some shelves for my bathroom . I HAD my receipt totalling $40.00. And it had my michaels club membership number. The again young man said the account was invalid, but it's printed on receipt. So he could only give me $3.00 each for the shelf totalling $15.00. I purchased a razor blade package. They gave me a $5.00 credit. I went back this past May 22 2022. A white woman with black stated I could not use the $5.00 credit because it was not valid. The tone of her voice, the rude disrespectful way she addresses me proves that location of employees is Racist and enjoy spreading g their systemic Racist attitude. I ve gone to other locations and they signed me up for the discount point thing and were pretty epic. My theory about Michael's pretty much mimic's my opinion about Fry's Electronics. Michael's is a self-serve art-supply warehouse. The prices are a bit high, but the selection is good. Every Michael's seems to be laid out a bit differently. This never used to be the case. If you ask an employee to help you find something, they are often just as perplexed as you are. Regardless, I always eventually find what I need. I love the fact that they are seeming to cater more to kids crafts now. The selection of foamy crafts and decorate-yourself visors, flip-flops and T-shirts has grown, making it easy to entertain my young nephew and niece. They still have a large selection of scrapbooking supplies to keep me happy too. A word of warning: What used to be the 'dollar area' is no longer so. Many times the prices range from $1.50 to $3.00 each item. It adds up. In Michael's defense, they never marketed this discount aisle as a "dollar" area, but many people got accustomed to that as for the longest time, things on that entire row really were just a buck! Now, do yourself a favor and visit their website before your visit. They often have a 40% off one item or 15% off entire purchase on there. This location is messy and disorganized. Sometimes the check out lines take forever and they don't even bother to call other employees to open up registers and alleviate the wait time. Today I asked an employee where I could find more bags of these mini pine cones that were placed with some bags of big pine cones outside (obviously misplaced because again, disorganized). She said, "Actually, those are the last we have of those" without even bothering to check stock or walk/look around the store. So I walked around myself and lo and behold, there were stacks and stacks of them still available. So not only are the employees slow, they are also lazy and unhelpful. read more

MY HAPPY PLACE! I don't even know where my time goes by when I go to Michaels. I have so many mini projects that I am working on and I am usually able to find everything from here. I have done bunch of DIY stuff for my cousin's weddings and I was able to get all the stuff with a cheaper price from Michaels. My boyfriend has designated a corner in our place with a table and everything as my arts & craft corner. It is a big enough store and everything is easy to locate in the store. It is pretty easy to locate and has enough amount of parking space available. Staff is helpful and friendly - this lady was kind to help me find all the items from my list last time I went there. I took their free flower decoration class offered on every Wednesday evening for a month. I learned quite a bit and it was nice to bond with the fellow enthusiasts! read more

Shopped yesterday at this particular Michael's and was so disappointed with the employees, and from the other reviews it appears I'm not alone in that arena. Three staff members were down right arrogant and irritated that I interrupted them. The worst service I've witnessed in a long time!! They should post a sign upon entering that reads "we specialize in bad attitudes, irritation and don't bother me frustration" so enter at your own risk!!!!! Who hires these losers and why so many? The worst show of poor service was from an older man working in the floral department who was more than rude to a little boy (around 7 years old) who was asking him a simple question. I received a vintage map as a Christmas gift and decided to get it framed at Michael's because I had a 50% off coupon from the mail. After consulting with the framing department and going over the various options, I decided that a custom made frame from here even the with the discount wasn't worth it in terms of quality. It seems like their prices are jacked up to balance out the scores of people coming in with the half off coupon. What I end up doing is buying a frame from the store and paying them a fee to assemble the map with a custom matted board. She tells me it'll be ready in two weeks. Fast forward two weeks, no call from Michael's. I decide to call the next day to ask what's going on with my order. She puts me on hold and comes back a few minutes later to tell me she can't find my order, I calm myself down and tell her to check again. She still can't find it, I'm praying for her own safety and well being that she find my map before shit hits the fan and I guess third time is a charm because she finds it - only, it hasn't been worked on. She tells me to give her an hour and it'll be ready for pick up. If it's only an hour job, wtf was the two week turn around quoted to me for? Stay away. read more

This is the Michael's that I frequent the most because it's the closest to my apartment, but if I can make the trip to another branch, I do it. Why? Two reasons: 1) Almost every time I go here to pick up a few supplies they are always out of something that I need. 2) The aisles are very unorganized and cramped. Many people have to maneuver around the store and try to figure out the best route to get from point A to B. When in the shirt section, the sizes are always not on order and the wooden letters are a NIGHTMARE. I had a difficult time finding all the letters I needed because the letters were ALL OVER THE PLACE. I almost organized the letters for them because it was driving me crazy. Oh, and they were out of stock of two of the letters I needed. Do not get me wrong. There is a bunch of standard craft items here and more, but organization and stock are two basic things that should be mastered. read more

This place is amazing. I used to rarely go to Michael's, scrapbook, or even write thank you notes to people. But I visited here for some glue dots once for my lab at UCI. And I discovered dimensional stickers! Their stock on stickers is freaking awesome! I go crazy in there with the stickers, but it does get a bit pricey because each little package ranging from 1-12 pieces on average costs $2.99. But they do have some good sales and tons of good deals on racks outside the store. I rummage through there all the time and find good stuff. I've also seen cute photo albums, but those are pricey so I haven't invested in one.. yet, we'll see how long I can hold out for. They also have great scrapbooking paper if you want to go all out and make your own photo album. And cute photo storage boxes. read more

I have been here a few times lately. I am new to crafts and never buy a lot but have a specific something I want. The ladies have always helped me find what it is or at least join me in my hunt for the obscure. They signed me up for coupons and I got a discount at register my first time, which was nice. They have an app that also has coupons every week - which has already saved me about $10. The place is very big and can be over whelming, so if you need help ask. It was a bit off putting to see some other customers get rude or act annoyed to the workers when they had to wait their turn. They are people and are trying to help everyone, be patient ladies! I found an incredibly amazing deal at another Michaels location for an item and enthusiastically made a trip to this location to pick up some more of the same item with the same sku. Upon checkout, the manager Toni told me that she would be unable to apply my 15% coupon towards my purchase. I showed her my receipt from the other location the day prior and she said the other store made a mistake, they weren't supposed to give me an additional 15% off. I informed her that I had made a twenty min drive to this location to pick this up (I had a cart full of items ) and never had an issue with my 15% off teacher discount before. She would not give me the coupon. I've shopped at several locations and have never had any issues. Extremely poor customer service. I ended up walking out and purchasing nothing. Delnia (the person who does custom framing)is the most remarkable worker I've met in a long time. She knows exactly everything about framing and matting. My project that needed framing was a handmade textile with 3D braids. It was irregular is shape and size because it was handmade and the space I planned to hang it, is very narrow. Delnia helped me pick the correct size of frame and matting to have an ideal result. I love my new art! It was still expensive at 70 percent off with a Michaels coupon, but worth it! read more

Brah, is there something wrong with all the arts and craft shops I go to? Last time it was Jo-Anns, now its Michaels. First of all parking is a bloody nightmare, its like ridiculously bad, which has nothing to do with the store but my dear.... theres cars all over the place and it takes an eternity to back out of the space because everyone trynna zoom by. Then when you walk in, everything looked like someone dropped a nuclear bomb in the store and they left everything where it was. I mean common, even the one near my house in NorCal is a lot cleaner, and its in the bad part of the city. Then the aisle for ribbons was in this tiny tucked away corner which can only really accommodate one person at a time. Maybe its me, or maybe all arts and crafts store suck at stocking, but there were NO COLORS to choose from for the ribbons. Or at least the colours I wanted, and when you ask somebody working, they just give you a blank stare, and tell you no, and don't bother checking for you. Ridiculous, at least the cashier was nice, and the colours I did end up choosing because they did have it turned out fantastic. read more

I admit it - I'm a bit of a crafty bitch. (can you say the b-word on yelp?) I'm a fan of this Michael's because of its size and selection. The place is huge. They have a fairly extensive collection of designer paper for scrapbooking / card-making. And it includes a wide range of designs - everything from cutesy designs to more modern designs. I feel like I'm cheating on my SU demonstrator every time I buy paper from Michaels, but that quickly disappears. If you're ever looking for affordable holiday decorations - come here. This is my go-to Michaels whenever I need any craft materials. The one in Tustin near Red Hill is very run down and old, but this location is fairly clean and nice. The customer service is practically non-existent though so don't expect to get any assistance. I like roaming this place anyways since I love buying supplies that I don't need haha. Their scrapbooking section is great, lots of stickers and gems to choose from. Also their swirly gem stickies are the best for using to decorate your face for festivals :) Beats placing one individual gem after the other! Many of my friends call me the female Larry David. I swear I live in a Seinfeld episode because ridiculous things constantly happen to me. This weekend at Michael's in Tustin was no different. I had a 40% off 1 Item coupon (which Michael's emails out at LEAST 2x per week). When I gave the coupon to the cashier, she started to tear it in half. I stopped her and said, "Wait! I have my shopping list written on the back!" She looked at the list and said, "Sorry ma'am. Once I am given a receipt from a customer I cannot give it back." And she proceeded to tear it up. Shocked, I said "You could have let me snap a photo of it or write it down...but whatever." The woman in line behind me even said, "Like she couldn't just go home and print out another one...geez." When the cashier printed my receipt...what do you think came out with it? That's right...a 40% off coupon. I showed it to her and said, "Wow...I guess I will make sure not to write my shopping list on this one...or the one I get in my email tonight..and tomorrow morning."
